@excann, we are working hard to make sure that happens. PDP has been a disaster and must be kicked out Say No to Uduaghan and his Band of Robbers |
Utuama vs Oghenechovwe: Delta Central PDPcrisis explodes! By Ovasa Ogaga, The crisis rocking the PDP in Delta Central has taken a new twist on Wednesday as the power tussle between Prof. Amos Utuama, the ousted Deputy Governor and the leader of Delta Central and Dr. Chris Oghenechovwe, commissioner for water resources took a dangerous dimension as both called for a meeting of party leaders and faithful on Wednesday at the same time. It would be recalled in the aftermath of the court of appeal ruling sacking the former governor, Chief Terry Noah the Chairman of PDP Delta Central called a meeting of party leaders and stakeholders to review the political situation and chart a new course on the re-election ordered by the court to ensure that the PDP wins. Urhobo Times gathered that the deputy governor being the leader of the party in Delta Central had scheduled a meeting to consult with major stakeholders and party leaders and most especially aggrieved members of the party with the view to reaching out to them and bringing them back to ensure that PDP wins the rerun, but was surprised that Dr. Chris Oghenechovwe also fixed a meeting at the same time inviting same people. Urhobo Times reliably gathered that the action of Dr. Oghenechovwe is not connected with moves by him to establish himself as the leader of the party in Delta Central since according to our source, he considers himself as Uduaghan’s man while the former deputy governor Prof. Utuama is considered as Ibori’s man. However ,our source added that Oghenechovwe cannot even qualify as the leader of the party in Ughelli South where he comes from because he can’t be ranked amongst top PDP leaders in the local government where the likes of Chief Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, former Managing Director of NDDC and Chief Pius Ewherido let alone in the Delta central. Our source added that with the level of disaffection by Deltans and PDP faithful, most who don’t want a repeat of Uduaghan. It is clear that if PDP does not put its house in order, Uduaghan may as well kiss his re-election bid goodbye. According to our source who is top PDP member in Ughelli North who spoke to us in confidence, he said that with the poor rating of Uduaghan by Deltans, his candidacy will be difficult to sell, stressing that by trying to sell Uduaghan, is like trying to sell goods that have lost market value and therefore cannot be sold. It would be recalled that when Uduaghan came sometime to commission project in Out-Jeremi, he was stoned by some youths suspected to be sponsored by a notable PDP leader in the locality in order to paint the former deputy governor in a bad light. It was rumoured in some quarters that Dr. Chris was interested in the Deputy Governors job and may do whatever is possible to destroy his image politically before the governor in order to have his way, an allegation loyalist of Dr Chris has consistently denied. But with the current face off between the deputy governor and Dr. Chris taking a new turn? Uduaghan according to our source would be the greatest loser as most PDP leaders in Ughelli South would not be disposed to attend any meeting called by Dr. Oghenechovwe, but would rather attend that of Prof Utuama and with this divided house Uduaghan re-election is under serious threat. |
@rasputinn, this is very dangerous, and must be corrected straight away. the press should be get wind of this. this is more than a gaffe, in my opinion sackable |
@Stranger, I dont nornally do this. but your comments are unhelpful, and bother on the down right evil. If you dont have anything to say Shut your mouth |
I am glad people are begining to get insenced about the true state of the country. maybe that will get us all thinking in the right direction. Is what Lamido saying right? it sure is. Who should be held responsible? the legislator from your part of the country. He represents you at the national assembly and he owes you and explanation. our politics need to be active. We need to challenege the people who say they represent us |
@DapoBear, Not true most refurbished laptops are not necessarily done by the manufacturer, infact many electornics shops offer the service. It is the same argument as saying why do we let used cars into the country, after all lots of used cars arrive with nice exterior and terrible engines. It is all about quality control. Things like this must be made to go through rigorous quality tests before they are allowed in and all must have a certificate from the exporting country to verify that they are fit for purpose. remember that the fact that they say the product is new does not necessarily means that the quality is good. this has been a long standing problem in Nigeria, not only with things that are imported, but alos locally made goods as well. Quality control is next to Nil |
Crazy, even the UK sells reconditioned laptops and phones. What we need ot better quality control not an outright ban. Who is devicing all these poorly thought through policies. |
@Beaf, When we fight finsih for here, Warri boy na Warri boy. No boxing gloves just Odeku and fowl. |
@Beaf, whats has pricing pepper in the market got to do with this matter. Anyway, we are in Warri in about 2 weeks time to shake body for Great. Make you try come, I go buy you big stout and chicken, then we can discuss this your Oga wey holy pass Pope |
Beaf, Beaf. Mingwo. How you dey? you don follow me come here. Which kind thing your Oga dey do like this? this is very bad now. Where did he get $50K from? |
@9ijaMan, You talk true. there are lots of other credible candidates, that do not belong to PDP. I am under the impression that a lot of people who support GEJ dont even know why they do. A real shame |
My brothers, The problem is that we are not asking very basic questions of the people who claim to rule us. Some often sight lack of evidence to GEJ corrupt ways, but thay are simple question we must asking. How can someone who was a university lecturer, cum Deputy Governor declare 300 million Naira of assest. Now this is not an accomplished Academic / business man, just a univeristy lecturer turn deputy governor. Where did the money come from, but no as usual we Nigerians are not prepared to dig deeper. That is why all this doesnt suprise me. Oga has not shown that he is different from the rest |
too many stories with GEJ. Nigerians must choose wisely come 2011, lest you get stuck with another 8yrs of PDP |
But why should they get 2.5% of the countries budget? These people have been mistreating the common man for far too long. |
Authoritatively That will not happen. Ngozi will not work for that guy,So forget it |
@Wesley80, Dont under estimate Ribadu's popularity, and the growing discord with pdp. It all starts with people accepting that we need to change. Dont get me wrong, I am under no illusion that it would be easy. But this fight is for everyone. lets all start by registering. Infact Delta state re-run would be a very good example. Most in delta state have accepted that uduaghan was a disaster, and we are going to make sure he doesnt come back. There are those of us who are willing to give our time and effort to ensure that the election is credible and free from rigging, by registering voting and defending our vote. Delta state will set the scene for next years elections |
I don tire. which kind wahala be all this |
@Wesley80, I am not calling for things the ordinary Nigerian is not capable. There is a general agreement that the present ruling party has failed Nigerians in the last 12yrs. What is so wrong in trying something else. The truth remains that those who prosper are those who embrace change. I am quite happy to try Ribadu out, just for a change. break the hold pdp seems to have on us |
If true, this is serious stuff and the government must act. |
@bk.babe97y, You really dont understand the written english I can see. didnt make a single positive contribution, you turn up and start raising tribal issues. It is true that when people like you turn up and start insulting others on a public forum, you lose all claim to intelligence. |
@Wesley80, This have very little to do with naivity, but so much to do with seeking change. Change is not easy, but a people would neeb to seek that change desperately, that they are prepared to go th extra mile to get it. at the moment what i can deduce from you is that we are not prepared to go that extra mile because the journet seems so long and hard. my brother go and find out how change was brought to progressive countries? it was went the people decided that it was time to get up and move, and if i dont see that in my people, i have not other choice but to term it political laziness. So for my understanding, just because we risk getting Atiku as president, we shouldnt consider other options? Ask the american people who donated $5 so Obama could be president. Above all odds that a black man who was brought to the us as a slave ended up being the president. The common man believed, paid his $5 and took his chance. And i am prepared to pay my #20,000.00 and take my chance, are you? |
Home » News & Reports » News Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, In Certificate Forgery Scandal Posted: November 27, 2010 - 20:17 Posted by siteadmin caption: Gabriel Suswam in the middle By SaharaReporters, New York SaharaReporters is in possession of documents indicating that Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, may have forged the West Africa School Certificate with which he was purportedly admitted to the University of Lagos to study law. The contentious certificate is also one of the supporting documents the governor submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission in the run-up to his election as governor in 2007. Suswam, who is coordinator of President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign in the North-central region, was supposedly admitted to UNILAG on the basis of a 1982 General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level certificate with candidate number: 07652151. The original certificate portrayed him as having passed five subjects, the subjects passed were without Mathematics and English, which is a pre-requisite subject for admission into law programmes in Nigerian universities. However, while the governor’s traducers were still wondering how he managed to sneak into the University of Lagos without appropriate entry requirements, Suswam wrote to WAEC in 2005, claiming that his certificate was missing. He attached photocopies of the purportedly missing certificate, a police extract and affidavit of loss of certificate to the letter. Shortly afterwards, the governor claimed WAEC sent him a replacement for his lost certificate. The new certificate came with the same candidate number (07652151), with his passport photograph embossed on it. However, the new certificate had significant changes indicating that Suswam passed "English and Mathematics", significantly raising the possibility that the new document is “a complete forgery” according to Suswan critics. Already, Terver Kakih, a governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue state, has asked a Federal High Court in Makurdi to order the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Crimes Commission (ICPC) to investigate the alleged forgery and other allegations of financial impropriety and embezzlement levelled against the governor in various petitions. Joined in the suit, in which Kakih asked the West African Examination Council to withdraw and cancel the forged certificate, were the EFCC, the ICPC, INEC, the Benue State House of Assembly, the Benue state Attorney General, and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice. When the case came up for hearing last Thursday, Suswam and the other defendants failed to show up in court, neither did any counsels represent them. Justice Abimbola Ogie therefore ordered the parties to appear on the next adjourned date, December 3rd, 2010. Not too long ago, one Chigozie Ukpabi squealed on Suswam, saying he helped the governor to falsify the results. The governor denied the allegation as 'baseless' and the handiwork of 'political opponents'. Ukpabi is now being detained at the Nigerian Police Force headquarters in Abuja, reportedly on Suswam’s orders. There are also doubts over whether Suswam really graduated from the Nigerian Law school or if he was called to the Nigerian Bar. In the third edition of the Nigerian Lawyers Directory published by the Council for Legal Education, there are two completely different entries for Suswam. The first said he was called to the bar on December 5, 1990 while the second portrayed him as having been admitted on June 8, 1991. Meanwhile, several political activists from Benue State, are calling on anti-corruption agencies to get to the bottom of the case and “save Benue from this fraud of a governor”. “As the matter continues to generate debates within Benue state, attempts by the governor and his aides to douse the flames of forgery and corruption allegations have created a lot more suspicion,” one of our sources, said in an email. “The governor in different interviews, at different times, has given conflicting reports on the issues of his WAEC certificate. At some point he claims his original certificate was burnt in a building. On another occasion, he has given different reasons for the loss of his certificate. His constant, albeit weak, denials continue to fuel suspicions.” He added, “I am therefore appealing to you that you help the people of Benue look into this matter. While some of us have limited access to conduct proper investigations on this, we are strongly convinced the governor has a case to answer regarding this grand forgery.” Yet another activist said, “Gabriel Suswam claims to have read law from the University of Lagos, but this claim too is becoming doubtful as no one except him seems to know any UNILAG course mates of his or any of his barrister contemporaries who were called to the bar the same year as him. “This is a governor whose corrupt acts know no bounds. You will notice that he is desperately involved in Goodluck Jonathan's presidential bid, a move many interpret as 'political survival' game. He hopes Jonathan will help sweep his scandals under the carpet for political gains” http://www.saharareporters.com/news-page/benue-state-governor-gabriel-suswam-certificate-forgery-scandal |
@Excanny, I accept that Utomis current position would need to change for him to make in roads, and we are working on that. In terms of precedence as some have suggest. Please point at one single leader with experience who has done well? Just one, soe I dont understand were all this talk is coming from, except from those not willing to seek change but remain politically lazy. I dont. |
hmmm, Na wha. waiting for the truth |
The difference between the american and the Nigerians is that the american would dream, then do something about the dream, but the Nigerians would dream, then wait for someelse to fulfil that dream for them. Democracy and good government is not free or handed on a plate of gold, you have to earn it, by desiring it and working very hard for it. |
@Excanny, I understand what you are saying about experience, but look at those with years of experience what they have done to our country. I think we must change our focus. I dont accept that experience has helped in Nigeria, and if that is the case they would be just as qualified as the others, if not better. I will take the chance and vote them in. |
Neither. They are both cut from same cloth, but from different ends (PDP) |
@bashr4, I ahve been calling for this for a very long time, and I am hoping it will happen. The combination will be very effective and progressive for Nigeria, and this is why. 1: Ribadu I believe has the zeal, determination and stomach to fight corruption head on, without fear or favour 2: Utomi has the vision and address book to attract the brightest and the best to come and move Nigeria foward. This is a very important point that is often over looked. But believe me, if Pat gets involved, you guys will not believe the calibre and quality of Nigerians that he will attract. 3: Ribadu, I consider raw in certain areas, and I know Pat can smooth out the rough edges We need this combination, and I will continue to speak and campaign for it. |
It is not secret on this forum that I am the fiercest critic of the Wicked, evil, group pf thieves party (PDP), So how can I be a member. I have also shown great support for Pat Utomi and Nuhu Ribadu, and that is were my allegiance lies. where is yours? So you can continue in your childish, insult people when they say the truth manner. Like I said, you have lost all credibility on this forum. Let me re-cap 1: You have accused me of Hating ND people 2: You have accused me of Hating Ijaw folks 3: You have accused me of being a PDP member 4: You have accused me of being a thug what next? |
It beggers belief that someone who claims to have any intelligence would conclude that since one attended a party primaries, one is then logically a party member. Maybe they were press people there? or simple people with no allegiance to any party, but just an onlooker. But, hell no. This deranged, warri crazeman don start again. I am glad people have found out the sort of low-life, lick GEJ's nyash for all sorts of reason person you are. Who has totally lost all credibility on this forum, funny enough no one takes you seriously anymore, just like the village idiot. |
You keep on singing all sorts of funny tunes sha. First it was IBB, then the bus crushed him; now just before the bus crushes him, it is Atiku; soon it will be Buhari (until the proverbial bus strikes again). Dude, what do you stand for that you can run around so much? Like say you be babe, nobody for know di daddy. . . I remember someone asking the President that same question (Bolded part), and guess what? he couldnt answer what he stood for? Now his house boy is running around asking others that same question, what is Nigeria coming to |
The man should go and rest. He is just seeking undure relevance |
