PoliticsRe: Outrage Greets Senators’ Allowance! by monkeyleg: 12:01pm On Jun 16, 2010
@Bluetooth,

They really believe all is well with the common man and cant understand what all the fuss is about. I once met the daughter of a former VP, we got talking and at that time, I said to her that a tuba of yam cost about #90, she vehimently disagreed, she just wouldnt accept the figure, I mean we spent a good 10mins debating the issue, finally I gave up after realising that they as a family were so far removed from reality. They really do not grasp the true cost and standard of living in Nigeria. Most of them never really go to the market, so such real figures appeared really strange.

Look, I have spent a life time debating the Nigerian issue, of why we must act and act soon. Why a better Nigeria means prosperity for all of us, and why it remains a collective, sustained, and sacrificial effort that is needed by all. It is not a one man job. The fixing of Nigeria is far from being a one man job. And why if we do not act yesterday, it will definitely comeback and hunt us all today. Even those who dont feel that they have a part to play, truly do not understand the process of nation building, and how we are all collectively responsible. It is not about me or you, but about us. You wait till it starts affecting someone you know, even our kids are not immune from this rubbish.

Maybe someday, we will have the intelligence to properly analyse how half a century of extremely bad leadership has shaped and affected us as a people. Just maybe
PoliticsRe: Outrage Greets Senators’ Allowance! by monkeyleg: 11:26am On Jun 16, 2010
@Bluetooth,

You talk am well. We as a people are very good at sitting back and complaining, but we are never ready to do what it takes to change things. David Mark and his fellow thieve know that, and quite frankly they are taking the advantage of a very meek people. How can the senate President earn more than the american president , even when he has not done a single thing.

Was he not the same peroson who was in charge when Nigeria was without a leader for months? was it not these same senators that could not move the country forward when we needed them to? In a country were unemployment is in excess of %20, how can they justify this kind of lavish lifestyle, when the whole country is in darkness.

Can you all see where our priorities lie? the common man in Nigeria, has not healthcare, food, shelter, water, schools (no matter how bad), transport, security, absolutely nothing. and in and age of extreme global credit squeeze, we have politicians paying themselves this sort of money.

PoliticsRe: Outrage Greets Senators’ Allowance! by monkeyleg: 11:02am On Jun 16, 2010
and I bet they will people who will come on here are justify this nonsense.

Listen, we can cry as much as we want, as long as Nigerians are not willing to fight for thier country, such thieves will continue to steal with impunity. These people are not challenged, we come here are make mouth, but when time comes for us to demonstrate peacefully, a lot of us will back out.

We as a  people are not serious about moving our country forward if we were believe me, David Mark will be begging to be paid the minimum wage.
PoliticsRe: Dubai Update: Ibori's Bail Revoked! by monkeyleg: 8:39am On Jun 15, 2010
@Rasputin,

Please my bro take heart. I have also felt this passionately about mis-rule in Delta state. Deltan's deserve more. So it really makes me so sad when I see people come on here and defend anything Ibori did. How can they let themselves be raped over and over, by the same evil person. All I wish for Deltan's is Justice.
PoliticsRe: Dubai Update: Ibori's Bail Revoked! by monkeyleg: 9:14am On Jun 11, 2010
@Kobojunkie,

Chidichris has been towing that line for a very long time. This is not about being used as a tool by whoever. This is about facing up to what is right or wrong. Ibori commited a crime in the UK, and is wanted for that.

There is also the very big issue of him defrauding Delta state. So We must all be careful not to muddy the water. The man in my opinion has commited crime in 2 different countries, if the Nigerian government are not serious about prosecuting him and trying him properly maybe the British are. Lets not forget that Ibori is a convicted criminal, he was convicted twice in the UK, and presently money laundering is considered a very serious crime post 7/7.
PoliticsRe: Dubai Update: Ibori's Bail Revoked! by monkeyleg: 9:45pm On Jun 10, 2010
@Rasputin,

please dont mind Chidichris, he is just as deluded as Ibori and his brother, it looks like he has started smoking Paw-Paw leaves again. How dare him classify Ibori as opposition? opposition to who? The man is a bloody Thief, real big thief. I hear his cousin is running around threathening people with sack if they dont pledge thier loyalty to him. The game is Up for Ogidigborigbo
PoliticsRe: Dubai Update: Ibori's Bail Revoked! by monkeyleg: 9:39pm On Jun 10, 2010
@Chidichris,

you have started again, with this your "if we cannot catch all the thieves, we should catch none" analogy. This is not about corruption in Nigeria in general. Ibori commited a crime in the UK, and is facing up to the law. What is wrong in that, why do you still feel that this is selective justice, he laundered over £70m, and yet you feel he has no case to answer.

I have openly challenged you to declare if Ibori is innocent, but yet you cant. As I keep saying, I am very selfish when it comes to Ibori. I am from Delta state and he stole from US. So for me any justice is a big Victory for the people of Delta state

@Afam4eva,

The fact that it happens in other Universities does not make it right. this is real bad news. This is just another symptom of the total decay of the country Nigeria. We must all fight and claim our country back. An urgent pertition must be written to the president, if the state governor can not handle the issue
TravelRe: Her Uk Travel Woes; Any Recourse? by monkeyleg: 2:31pm On Jun 10, 2010
@Medlabgirl,

Though I do sympathise with you both, unfortunately this sort of treatment is all too common against Nigerian world over. The right channel would be to contact the Nigerian high commision in the UK to lodge a formal complaint, but I am almost certain nothing would be done.

Let me share my own story. In 2002 I wanted to visit Nigeria from the UK, and I decided to fly KLM which at that time had the best deal and was flying on the day I wanted. When I bought my ticket from the agent, they did not mention anything about transit visa, and I did not see the point because I was only transiting for about 30mins. Anyway it turned out that I required a transit visa, which one would feel was probably 2/3hrs in the Dutch embassy and one was done, but I was shocked at what happened. Quite a few Nigerians and I were made to queue for well over 48hrs in the cold and rain, with no toilet facilities or chairs to sit down on. Listen it was sheer madness. At that point I wanted to complain, but did not know who to. Eventually I was forced to book with another airline and practically loose all the money I paid to KLM.
Nigerians either in Nigeria or outside are not protected, that is the simple truth, and our government does nothing to stand up for its citizens, that is the reason why we are treated like dirt by other countries, and the more reason why we must all collectively get our acts together and move Nigeria forward as a nation.
PoliticsRe: Dubai Update: Ibori's Bail Revoked! by monkeyleg: 1:48pm On Jun 10, 2010
@Kobojunkie,

I agree, that he will have a fair trial, and cant cry foul. However we must to focus on getting things right. Our Judicial system is a monumental failure, just like everything in Nigeria and we have to do something about it quick.

@bisiaet,

Ibori commited a crime against the Crown and that is why he is being tried. Money laundering has become a big issue in the UK post 7/7. Ibori and his Cohorts laundered  well over £70m, and he must face the book for it. And dont even dare to think that the British govt is picking on him, british people are also extradited and tried if they fall foul of a countries law. The mistake Ibori made was to think that the UK is an extension of Nigeria, so business as usual. He is likely to get in excess of 10yrs when convicted
PoliticsRe: Dubai Update: Ibori's Bail Revoked! by monkeyleg: 12:36pm On Jun 10, 2010
@chiozor,

Peter Odili's time will come. Please lets not forget that justice is being served by a foreign govt. Nigeria needs to get its act together, and stop relying on someone else to do the right thing for them, but any Victory I will take
PoliticsRe: Dubai Update: Ibori's Bail Revoked! by monkeyleg: 12:19pm On Jun 10, 2010
no be today dem start, and that is what I have been trying to tell people on here. The man is a bloody thief just like his brother. I hear that one is virtually going mad, threatening everyone with the sack if you are not loyal to him. The whole system is rotten to the core, and it is just a shame that Ogidigbodigbo is just the Core
PoliticsRe: Dubai Update: Ibori's Bail Revoked! by monkeyleg: 11:36am On Jun 10, 2010
A finished man. Ogidigbogbo no more, meanwhile I hear his brother is acting like a mad man threatening his workers with sack if they are not loyal. The game is up for them

Ibori Finally in ball and chains

(THEWILL) – The Dubai Police authorities have revoked Chief James Ibori's bail.

THEWILL has not been able to independently confirm why his bail was suddenly revoked.

Our Dubai correspondent is currently working police sources for more information but we gather Ibori is currently being detained by the police at one of its facilities until his extradition to the United Kingdom is determined.

PoliticsRe: How Do We Make Our Public Schools The Best In The World? by monkeyleg: 12:14pm On Jun 08, 2010
Invest is education, as simple and that. The goverment in the UK is currently investing upto £27M per academy or school under the bsf programme. That can only build on the success UK schools have enjoyed for years.

In Nigeria, we had excellent schools in the former Unity schools, and what did the govenment do? stop vital funding because the coconut head who was in-charge never understood the importance of a very sound education in a growing and emerging economy. Instead from Federal government to state, proper funding has not been allocated to education, instead the senetor and house of reps guys want to pay themsleves #100m per quarter. What a country we have.

If it not a marriage, which i doubt it is. Say bye bye and get rid of the freak. It is a real shame that the reputation Nigerian men have to have is one of serial cheater. Why is it that we can never get things right?

This is just shocking, but I am glad at the treatment they recieved. I think our government officials need to be embarrassed more often, that way mabye shame will start creeping in again.

I think you have said it all, so eloquently, that I do not really need to add more. People like wirinet make out that we are not from Delta state, and have no right to complain. I am just as you from Warri, lived and grew up there for the past 33yrs. And there is no way any one from Delta state can tell me that Ibori did well. The man is a bloody Thief and should be threated as such.

PoliticsRe: Ibori Seeks Political Asylum In Dubai by monkeyleg: 12:32pm On May 30, 2010
@SapeleGuy,

So Ibori, built bridge in Bomadi, Burutu, Omadino, and Okpare, and in your ultimate wisdom, he has done well. It is a real shame that Some people are prepared to sell thier Mothers for 5Naira.

I think this is an even bigger problem than corruption in Nigeria. People who have been so deluded, and battered that they fail to understand the meaning on development. So you give someone £1,000,000.00 to buy are brand new BMW for you. He turns up with a rickety old Volks that doesnt work and then you pat him on the back and say he has done well.

Anyway, I give it to Ibori, that he has managed to get the likes of you to come out an sing his praise. he has got you exactly where he wants you. Using and abusing you, even after stealing your money and raping your people. How can you have been so beaten, that you fail to recognise wrong, how can you have been so bought, that you are prepared to give your wife away for 10Naira. How come Ibori has gotten to some of you guys so much that you are prepared to lick his backside and pay him for it. Unbelieveable is the word. and by the way, ibori is not successful bisines man, so please tell us how he got 9 billion Naira.
PoliticsRe: Ibori Seeks Political Asylum In Dubai by monkeyleg: 9:32am On May 30, 2010
@Wirinet,

I am not defending the other 99%. In fact I condem all. however I am of the school, that say "Charity begins at home", if people can hold thier state governors and elected (Selected) officials to account, maybe we would have a better country. Let us start dealing with the thieves in our homes. Also note, picking on Ibori does not make him innocent.

@ogb5,

I am not going to start fighting you here, becuase you are not worthy of intelligent banter. i think it would have been extremely prudent of you to have stated clearly as i did, Ibori's achievements in Delta state. Please state them clearly, and let us try and logically go through them, that is assuming you are capable of having discussions that hold some sort of semblance to intelligence.

People like you are the ones that they dash 5naira and you are ready to offer yourself up as a cheap thug.

Guys, you know this is the problem with Nigeria. We as a people find it extremely difficult to be true to ourselves. We have lost the sense of right and wrong. This in my humble opinion is the real reason why nigeria as a country is going nowhere.

What are the facts of the matter

1: Ibroi was governor of Delta state for 8yrs
2: Ibori's salary as about £25000 per annum
3: Ibori's father was an ambulance driver (came from a very poor home), not a problem, but cant have inherited great wealth
4: Ibori got an extra 960BN from oil revenue
5: did absolutely nothing in the state.
6: Bought properties worth millions of pounds
7: Is currently charged with money laundering to the tune of £43m (far more than he ever earned).

And yet , there are people one here defending him
