my best solution for housing issues in lagos is to adopt 'the abandoned property law' i cant imagine that in a city with that population looking for accomodation, you will find many houses unoccupied and vacant. Many buildings on the Island, Herbert Macaulay yaba, and lekki are empty and vacant. a law should be made that if your building is not 50% occupied, you either forfeit it to the state governemnt or pay heavily for it. |
My neighbour, who was a Buhari champion since god knows when just changed. He now blames his "New sherrif in town" more than I do, early in the morning till late at night, for everything and nothing at all. I just watch on and thank god. You can guess the reason for this transformation... MMM loosed his loins. The frustration is real. |
MKO cannot say he doesn't dine with the corrupt SMC and its generals, that's why he couldn't disassociate and conquer. But that's friendship taken too far. That's why he kept screaming "betrayal of a trusted friend" against Babangida. |
Op. Don't ever compare Alh. Jammeh to GEJ.
Gej got more than Jammeh, in all ramifications. |
fiizznation:The explanation given by the dean is not tenable. "The MSSN 'is the only' religious body recognised by the institution" cannot be interpreted otherwise other than that only MSSN is the only religious body allowed to operate. Cos Express mention of one thing is the express exclusion of its opposite. Even in social gatherings and meetings where we know that Muslims are almost non existent, we still allow for closing and opening prayers to be said in alternative so no body will scream discrimination. That's the constitutional spirit. |
The problem is that this circular released by the university is just voidable (meaning until nullified by the law court, it continues to apply). And the government (both state and federal) will rather wait for the poor christian students to take the steps to declare it null (we know it will be hard for students there to go to court on this, when they can manage it and graduate without victimisation), instead of being proactive to protect the citizens right. That's the official leaning of the government, both state and federal. We all know the default setting of our government since 2015 |
You as a yearly tenant (since u didn't specify the terms of a tenancy agreement, u paid an annual rent, thus a yearly tenant), you are entitled to a 6months Notice to Quit. That from today will give you a grace period till June 2017. Stick to it and demand a proper notice. The new landlord bought the unexpired rights of the old landlord, and subject to ur tenancy rights, which must be allowed to run its course. Get a lawyer also to help u in the conversation, u can't be doing the negotiation effectively with the new landlords lawyer. |
This is what the opposition caused by being too mouthy and boastful immediately after their victory at the polls, forgeting the real victory is when u are sworn in. Alh. Jammeh had to take pre cautious measures. Don't boast before victory, do that after. |
Asiwaju9ja:Sharia law was never to be of general application in the states it was adopted. When some northern states adopted it, it was an elective provision both in its criminal and civil aspects for practicing muslims, however, we saw that even non-muslims were forced to abide by it, because the law in itself is vitriolic (if u compel ur neighbours to abide by it, you are a true adherent of sharia law). In the good days, in the sharia courts, the khadi's will ask the parties whether they elect to have their case tried under the sharia law, but after sometime, they just bundle people, whether christian and muslims, and try them without giving them the option. They even attack people on the way, whether christian or muslim. That is bad (but its a good attitude under the sharia law). That was OBJ's mistake, he thought it will be like the customary laws issue in the south which is more personal. He didn't know he was arming militants and the BH. Now, we are talking about an institution, set up to operate for adherent of all religion. Even if the institution wants to apply sharia law in the institution, it can only apply to Muslims who elect to be bound by it. Section 10 of the constitution outlaws the state, federal or its institutions from adopting a religion, proscribing or banning a particular religion to the uplifting of another favoured religion. |
BlueWizAngel:Thank u. I will modify. I have lived in the North, and this is a fair tendency for institutions there. Why wait for vanguard, the said university ought to debunk it first, if its being lied against. |
Asiwaju9ja:I hope you understood my explanation on the illegality of the state university banning all religious organisation except islam? If you do, let me know so we can enter into another domain, ie. Of sharia laws in the Northern state. |
Anasko:Section 10 of the Constitution. "The government of the federation or of the state shall not adopt any religion as state religion." I hope u will see the error in your assertion. |
Asiwaju9ja:No distinction between federal or state government here, once its not privately own, then it must be secular. Go read section 38(2) of the constitution. Privately owned schools are provided for in 38(3) of the same section. This is just contrary tow what we subscribed to as a country |
Buhari is already dead; I mean dead to the feeling of the poor masses he left behind here. |
NPF and NA will keep killing innocent Nigerians unless they accept culpability for extra judicially killing IPOB members. The other day, it was UNIOSUN students, now this. To even think some people push them on, just for partisan purposes. |
Steps to declaring Fr. Tansi a saint. 1st black saint I guess. The miracle may be real, the corpse has been miraculous since olden days |
Toketimt:To say I don't know the allegations against Mr. Magu is laughable. Its an allegation made available to the public. punchng.com/dss-report-made-senate-reject-magu/ . These allegations are still undefended, and while u are defending the accused, and his benefactor, you haven't told us what their answer is to the allegations and whether he has been cleared of them. A similar accusation were made against Mr. Babachir Lawal and APC Legal adviser. We are yet to see the result of the investigation. Nigeria needs openness and transparency in its administration, if we must advance forward. This is a govt we voted into power on the expectation of transparency, we have seen how it has panned out on Amaechi, Dalung, Fayemi, Duara and co. Its not for citizens to cover or help govt to cover its tracks and avoid scrutiny. I won't be responding to your mentions again, Mr. Magu will get his approval, but we will keep running round in cycles of investigation results swept under the rug. |
Toketimt:Justice must not only be done, but must be seen to be done. Common sense indeed. Those senators represent you, and I. If u think the president don't owe us an answer to the allegation, then you have failed as a citizen. We are deserving of the leaders we get. DSS did the former investigation, we wonder who did the present one (which only you assert). |
Church leaders are beginning to align their thought process with reality. Imagine Nigeria turning 360 degrees against Christians, when hitherto we were living side by side without let or hindrance from anybody. We must be proactive if we are to reclaim our place, enough of the idle preaching, Christians should defend themselves in Nigeria, cos the govt doesn't care what happens to u. |
Toketimt:I just wonder where u get the report that exonerated him of the DSS accusations. Cos me, I haven't seen any. |
My neighbour keeps dogs as pet. They live in a small house near the gate. Recently, I discover he doesn't play or take the dogs for a walk as before. Feeding them is hard. The dogs are currently biting themselves to death, especially the young ones. My neighbour just ignored them as if they don't exist, he expresses anger when they make noise, and he swears aloud that he will soon kill all of them and rest. In my mind I'll be thinking how someone who hardly feed well in this town will also take care of pet dogs. Even people with children are finding it hard to feed extra mouth, not to talk of dogs. |
Toketimt:Do you have the report? Plz oblige us |
Opakan2:We don't need strong men, we need strong institution. He just rubbished the NA, the DSS and the Court in one fell swoop. I wish him what his actions and policies wish the man on the street. Nonsense. |
papa and his patented white shoes ![]() |
logica:Yes, am aware of his row with Corp. Magaji and his stealing of his men's funds. That's also how most Nigerians speaking against corruption today, are in some way corrupt, especially the youths. Cos you can't pass through many line without soiling your hands, yet you believe that its because of the system allowed by the leaders that pushed u into being corrupt. Talk of paying bribe for admission, jobs, contracts, while at the same time blaming Presidents both past and present for keeping us in a corrupt system. |
The young mutineers had it as their mission to purge the young country of stinking corruption. However drastic they intended it, They went about it in the wrong way. Now, the effect of their action has caused distrust among nigerians especially our youths, who now crave to purge the country of corruption, but will always be judged on the basis of their religion and tribe. |
mjbaba:We should leave ur bubu for you, abi? When we advocate for state police, you people will say no way. Now the police force report to the IG who sits with ur bubu in far away abuja to talk what they don't know. Its even a shame to your bubu that a woman was beheaded in broad day light in few kilometres from where you bubu resides and he can't bring his security powers to bear in the investigation and prosecution. Even if it happens elsewhere, I won't swallow the fact that this happened in the FCT of all places. On top all these, you said we should leave ur bubu alone. |
alfarouq:What we interpret from the news, which is clear for all to see, is that the NPF did a shoddy job here. If I live in that neighbourhood from today till the next one month, I will tell you the killer, or those who have a hand in her beheading. This should not end with this issue, cos generally in Nigeria, the NPF is so unprofessional and lacking in skills of modern investigation, yet they are trusted with peoples life and liberty. When I have the power, I will start my institutional cleansing from the NPF, then SON and other hollow and stinking institutions set up just to insult our collective intelligence and make us look foolish as a country. |
He said this things last year, when the tension wasnt as high as now, and it makes more sense now. My. Tonye is entitled to practice his christianity in which ever way he deems fit, maybe as john the beloved. But the day this statement will mean more to him is the day it comes to flee for his life. the anointed of God has prophetic unction to curse, and Oyedepo just exercised his. Prophets and Apostles exercised theirs in the bible, so this aint different. |
I must have to agree with the OP on this issue. The hands with which you dish out the soup can affect its taste, so says an old adage. Pmb has a religious shadow behind him, even when things are straight forward, once it concerns religion, the interpretation will be against him. |
This government is really intolerant like it was in the 70's. The NA today threatened Premium times over its publications. I expect NLanders to speak against this intimidation of the press, not where the victim is from and who he is. Sowore is what every youth in Nigeria should try to be in terms of activism. Soon they will come for us. |
Themandator:The NGO(church and mosque inclusive) all registered with CAC, and thus is amenable to government interference, though limited. They are managed by board of trustee and as much as you want to see it as a calling, there is politics in the management. They have gone ahead to forage into social and welfare sector, and they affect people in their duties. They should be amenable to interference aimed at ensuring accountability and transparency. The traditional leaders you mentioned don't need government to exist. Infact they are not registered or birthed by the CAC, unlike the Board of trustees that get their existence from registration. This issue is what a good organisation will put in place to ensure healthy organisation. Its because of the refusal that resulted into it being law. |
