Crime › How Tinubu Should Treat Fulani Herdsmen To End Insecurity – Oluwo by Morbeta11(op): 4:05pm On Feb 02, 2024
The paramount ruler of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, has urged President Bola Tinubu to take some measures to address the insecurity in the country, including taking Fulani herdsmen to schools.

Oluwo appealed to the Tinubu-led administration to invest in ranching for the herdsmen to keep their cattle, adding that the nomadic system is injurious to them and the entire nation.

Oba Akanbi made this known in an open letter written to Tinubu on Thursday while expressing dissatisfaction with the spate of kidnappings and killings perpetrated by killer Fulani herdsmen in the South-West region and other parts of the country.

The monarch said most of the insecurity challenges faced by the country are carried out by Fulani herdsmen who want to survive, adding that there are also good Fulani herders.

The traditional ruler also urged the security agencies to deploy digital equipment to check insecurity in the country, as some part of the measures to tackle insecurity.

“Arresting those children from the bush to the four walls of classrooms requires the promotion of ranching. Understanding is key while education is the door to peace,” the letter read.

“I want to appeal to your excellency to assent a legislation that will compel education for children and enact strict punishment for parents refusing to educate their children.

“Priority can be placed on the Fulanis with preferential monitoring of nomadic settlements. This option will secure their future to be engineers, pilots, doctors, professors, kings, bankers, ambassadors etc and not kidnappers. My domain is the highest host of the Fulanis in Osun State. Before the escalation of the kidnapping menace, I visited the Fulanis in my domain mandating formal education and threatened to arrest parents of teen children rearing cattle during school hours.”

Oba Akanbi further said, “Our security should go digital. If not now, who else is our Messiah? Nigeria’s security should be strengthened. The boost can optionally be assured through mandatory and timely provision of electronic national identity cards for everyone on Nigerian soil such that the security forces can accost and demand identification anywhere, anytime. With a digital ID card, the security can track suspicious members of society.

“Your Excellency, I want to appeal for a quick response to enact a law in collaboration with the national assembly for quick trial and execution of culpable kidnappers. There is no justifiable excuse for injustice. Injustice is only justified when a matching penalty is meted out. The change is in action. Let two, three to four culpable kidnappers taste death, then, we will breathe the air of peace.”

“In conclusion, let me admonish Nigerians. Nigeria’s security architecture cannot be strengthened in isolation. Nigerians must volunteer to support the service chiefs and other security agencies in intelligence gatherings. Community policing should be encouraged,” he added.

ENTERTAINMENTNigerian actress jailed six months for spraying new naira notesPublished on February 1, 2024By Nsikak Nseyen

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Thursday, February 1, 2024, convicted and sentenced one Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, an actress, to six months imprisonment for spraying and stepping on the new naira notes at a social event in Lagos State.

She was first arraigned on February 13, 2023, by the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on two-count charges, to which she pleaded “not guilty.”

She was subsequently granted bail on February 15, 2023.

One of the charges reads: “That you, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, on the 28th day of January 2023, at Monarch Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, whilst dancing during a social occasion, tampered with the sum of N100,000 (one hundred thousand naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same in the said occasion and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act, 2007.”

At the resumed hearing on Thursday, Omoseyin, however, changed her “not guilty” plea to “guilty” in view of the overwhelming evidence against her.

Following her “guilty plea”, the prosecution counsel, Z.B. Atiku called Abubakar Mohammed Marafa, an operative of the EFCC, to review the facts of the matter.

Marafa recalled: “The defendant was arrested by officers of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, on February 1, 2023, and was handed over to the Commission on February 2, 2023, for further investigation.”

According to him, the defendant’s statement was taken under caution, where she stated that she attended a friend’s wedding on January 28, 2023, and that she sprayed N200 and N100 naira notes on the occasion.

“The defendant was processed, and the videos of where she sprayed the money was found on her phone. Also, further investigations were carried out and the management of the event centre was invited. They also brought in the video footage of the said event,” he said.

The prosecution counsel, thereafter, further applied to tender, in evidence, the letter from the ICPC and other accompanying documents, including the extra-judicial statement of the defendant, a forensic report of her phone, a CD of videos showing her spraying the naira note, a flash drive from the event centre, and the statement of the representative of the centre.

Justice Aneke admitted them as exhibits and convicted the defendant, as charged.

The defence counsel, Afuye Adegbola, pleaded for leniency, saying, “She’s a first-time offender; she is a mother of one; she is remorseful and pleads for mercy.”

He further pleaded for a non-custodial sentence on behalf of the convict.

Delivering judgement, Justice Aneke sentenced the defendant to six months imprisonment, effective from Thursday, with an option of a N300,000 (three hundred thousand naira only) fine to be paid into the consolidated revenue account of the federation.

Omoseyin bagged her imprisonment when she was arrested by operatives of the ICPC along Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, after the video of her spraying and stepping on the newly redesigned Naira notes at a party surfaced online. In the viral video, she was also seen flaunting wads of the new naira notes.

In her statement to the commission, she claimed that she received the new naira notes from her fans at the party and that she did not know the person who gave her the money.

Items recovered from her at the point of arrest include a Range Rover

Politics › EFCC Goes After Church For Receiving N7bn Fraud Proceeds by Morbeta11(op): 5:16am On Feb 02, 2024
The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, has revealed that the anti-graft agency traced the sum of N7bn, suspected to be proceeds of money laundering, to a religious organisation.

He said another religious group was found to be laundering money for terrorists.

The EFCC chairman made the revelation on Wednesday at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, during a one-day dialogue on “Youth, Religion, and the Fight against Corruption.”

He said some of the religious organisations, institutions, sects, and bodies in the country had been found to be aiding and abetting fraudsters and terrorists.

Olukoyede stated that the EFCC discovered the laundered N7bn in the bank account of a religious organisation in the course of investigating a N13bn fraud.

Though he did not reveal the identity of the religious organisation, a source in the anti-agency privy to the case told our correspodent that it was a church.

The EFCC chairman vowed that the anti-graft agency would recover the money through the court.

Olukoyede said, “We were investigating a N13bn money laundering case when we discovered that N7bn of the N13bn was linked to a religious organisation’s bank account.

“When we approached the religious organisation about it and we were carrying out our investigation, we got a restraining order stopping us from carrying out our investigation.”

Olukoyede, however, said the EFCC would not give up on the investigation as the restraining court order had been appealed.

Meanwhile, the EFCC chairman said the anti-graft agency also uncovered another unnamed religious body laundering money for a terrorist organisation.

“No one will be spared, we’ll probe everyone who is suspected to be committing financial crimes, and these includes members of the executive, legislative, and judiciary arms of government,” Olukoyede added.

He said since his assumption of office as the EFCC chairman about three months ago, the anti-graft agency had secured 747 convictions, mostly cybercrime.

He said the one–day event, tagged “Youth, Religion and the Fight Against Corruption,” was aimed at addressing the challenges of youth involvement in cybercrimes and how religion could be used as a weapon for their reorientation.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu at the event, spoke extensively about the need to curb corruption in government and among the young people.

Other dignitaries present at the dialogue were the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), a former Minister of Power, Babatunde Fashola, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, the President, Christian Association of Nigeria,Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the Chairperson, Nigeria Committee of Vice Chancellors, Prof. Lilian Salami, and the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede.

Crime › AY Petitions Police Over Facebook User’s Allegation Of Causing Yul Edochie’s Mar by Morbeta11(op): 3:04pm On Jan 31, 2024
AY petitions police over Facebook user’s allegation of causing Yul Edochie’s marital crisis

Popular comedian, Ayo Makun, also known as AY, has petitioned the Delta State Police Command over “criminal defamation and cyberstalking” by one Facebook user identified as Agozi Samuel.

According to the petition, Agozi Samuel through his Facebook account, Agozi Comedy, had accused the comedian of having an extra-marital affair with May Edochie, the wife of actor Yul Edochie, and hence responsible for the marital crisis between the couple.

AY revealed this in a post on his Facebook account on Monday, stating that people should start taking responsibility for their actions on social media.

In the petition filed by his lawyers and dated January 24, 2024, AY was said to have been flooded by messages from friends concerning the video which came from Agozi.

The petition partly read, “On Monday, 22 January 2024, our client was inundated with a barrage of messages from concerned friends, family, and business partners regarding the circulation of four minutes, thirty-two seconds (4:32) video (Annexure 2) which purportedly emanated from the Facebook page of one Mr. Agozi Samuel with the user name, Agozi Commedy (“the page/account”) who is unknown by our client at all material times before the occurrence of this event.

“In the four minutes, thirty-two seconds video titled “AY comedian were is your wife” which was posted on Saturday, 20 January 2024 on the page with a following of over 23,000 followers as can be seen in Annexure 1 to this letter. The suspect, in a mischievous attempt to generate traffic and views for his page and to gain cheap popularity, knowingly and intentionally made various statements that are not only false and baseless but also capable of causing annoyance, insult, enmity, hatred, public outrage and needless anxiety to our client and his family and exposing our client to hatred and public ridicule.

“The said publication alleges that our client is involved in an extra-marital affair with one, May Edochie, the wife of Yul Edochie, and that our client was responsible for the marital crisis between May and her husband. ”

The petition went further to state the allegations made by Agozi against AY.

For the purpose of clarity, the exact false, baseless, and untrue statements knowingly and intentionally made at several intervals by Agozi Samuel in the said video are reproduced below as follows:

“You slept with May. Because of you, Yul Edochie and his wife separated because you’re having an affair with Yul Edochie’s wife which is May. The general public did not know what was happening even the Court case that is going on the general public did not know.”

“I told you on the 31st night that in 2024, I will be the one to bring you down. For you to bring down a home that lasted for many years, you made them separated, you made the wife live differently and the husband. What are you looking for in somebody’s wife that your wife does not have?

“Your plan now is to go and marry May. I know all your plans, you want to go and marry May. You think I don’t know?

“This is what really happened. AY slept with May Edochie, that was why Yul Edochie and May Edochie are not together today.

“Remember our conversation on the 31st night? I told you that I would be the one to bring you down in 2024. Since you don’t want to apologise to Yul Edochie and apologise to his fans because you’re the one masterminding everything. What kind of wicked man are you? AY, what kind of wicked man are you?

“And I will teach you and you will learn the hard way. Mark my word”

In the petition, the comedian through his lawyers requested that the police arrest, investigate, and prosecute Agozi for “the coordinated malicious and baseless publication.”

In his caption on Facebook, AY wrote, “There are a lot of things that I have been letting go from colleagues, bloggers and clout chasers concerning my person. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

“The more I continue to disregard or accept all these fake apologies flying online, the more all these acts of wickedness are designed to hurt me, my career, ambitions, and even relationships.”

Politics › Nasarawa Governor, Sule Disowns Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore's Vigilante Group by Morbeta11(op): 9:49pm On Jan 30, 2024
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has broken his silence on the creation of the Nomad Vigilante Group by the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani socio-cultural organization in Nigeria.

Despite being invited by the group as a Special Guest during the inauguration of the outfit, Governor Sule has categorically denied any involvement in its formation.

DAILY POST reports that the Nomad Vigilante Group was inaugurated on January 17, 2024, at the City Square in Lafia, with representatives from conventional security agencies in attendance.

However, Sule, while receiving members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly on a congratulatory visit over his recent victory at the Supreme Court, stated that the state government did not participate in the creation of the vigilante group.

According to him, if the establishment of such a group was government-led, a bill would have been forwarded to the State Assembly for consideration, clarifying that the issue was currently under investigation by the country’s conventional security agencies.

“The security agencies are already investigating the issue. We refused to be part of it because it was purely an issue of the security agencies,” the Governor stated.

Governor Sule explained that the state government does not recognize the Nomad Vigilante, just like any other vigilante groups in the state, emphasizing that the only vigilante group recognized by both the Federal Government and the state is the community policing initiative.

He said, “As far as we are concerned, there is only one vigilante group recognized by the Federal Government, which we also recognized in the state. We have recognized community policing.

“If anybody should know that the government has recognized any vigilante group, you should know more because that bill should have come to you as lawmakers, and you should be the one to pass the bill before we can do that.”

The inauguration of the Nomad Vigilante Group has sparked nationwide condemnation, leading to the recent speculation that the DSS arrested Alhaji Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, the president of Miyetti Allah, for interrogation.

But the DSS denied the report, stating that Bodejo was never in its custody.

Politics › Abba Yusuf: I Had No ‘Defection’ Agreement With Presidency Over Court Verdict by Morbeta11(op): 9:37pm On Jan 30, 2024
Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano, says he did not sign any agreement with the presidency to influence the judgment of the supreme court.

On January 12, the apex court set aside the judgment of the appeal court that sacked Yusuf as the governor of Kano.

In a statement on Monday, Sanusi Bature, spokesperson to the Kano governor, said the judgment was delivered with “equity and fairness”.

Although he did not mention the kind of agreement, there were rumours that defecting to the All Preogressives Congress (APC) was a pre-condition to securing a favourable verdict at the supreme court.

“Our attention has been drawn to a misconception making rounds on social media indicating an agreement between the presidency and governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in the aftermath of the supreme court judgment that affirmed the mandate of his excellency,” the statement reads.

“I wish to categorically state that Governor Yusuf did not enter any agreement or condition with anybody before the supreme court judgment. I therefore urged the public to dismiss the fallacy being orchestrated by enemies of progress.

‘It is on record that my lord, the justices of the supreme court delivered a landmark Judgment with justice, equity and fairness and largely protect the integrity of the judiciary. “

The governor also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for allowing the level playing ground for justice to prevail through non-interference with the judicial process.

“The president is a true democrat who will not undermine other political parties in the interest of his party,” he said.

“Let me state and emphatically that Governor Yusuf has no prior agreement with the president.

“However, the president should rather be appreciated for maintaining neutrality, peace, and stability in Kano.

“No doubt, the refusal of the president to carry out the wishes of some prominent members of his party has brought about enduring atmosphere in Kano.

“On this single act, the good people of Kano will continue to appreciate Mr. President and pray for him to succeed in his administration.”

“The governor had several opportunities to meet the president in all of his visits, and the discussions are centred around the development of Kano state.”

Education › Abuja Private School Owners Reject Wike’s Fee Hike by Morbeta11(op): 12:22pm On Jan 30, 2024
An unprecedented hike in fees for Abuja-based private schools is imminent following the decision of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to hike operation charges of private schools in the capital city.

Under the new tax regime, each school will be billed according to tuition paid by students and the number of enrolments.

A memo by the Head of Account, Department of Quality Assurance of the Education Secretariat, Mudi Muhammed, which was obtained by our correspondent on Monday, said the development would take effect from January 2024.

The memo was titled: “Review of private school operation charges in FCT,” and it read: “ Following the approval of the Honourable Minister of the FCT for a review of operational charges (annual charge, accreditation, application, re-accreditation, commencement and recognition) payable by private schools in the FCT.

“You are by this letter informed that the old rate of charges cease to be valid as of 31/12/2023 and the new rate of charges effective 1/1/2024.

“Under the new rate, each school is billed according to the tuition charged and the number of enrollments. As a consequence, each school has its peculiar bill. You should also note that all application(s) are now N40,000.”

Meanwhile, the National Association of Private School Owners in the FCT, in a letter written to the Education Secretariat, noted that such a tax review at a time when the Federal Government had promised to eliminate multiple taxes would only increase the cost of education beyond the reach of many parents, thus adding to the population of out-of-school children.

In the letter signed by its Chairperson, Ruqayah Agboola, NAPPS added that the tax review would further put pressure on private schools in the FCT as it would increase their running costs.

The association said, “Unfortunately, our members rejected the proposal in its entirety. They cited the hard economy, the huge bank loans outstanding in their books, the unpaid fees by many owing parents, the many levies payable to local government and other agencies, and more importantly payment of their teachers’ salaries, other staff as well as maintenance of our infrastructure.

“Our members, therefore, plead that you use your good office to effect a 50 per cent reduction in the existing annual dues to enable your office to recover the outstanding dues. We will partner with you to achieve this.”

Speaking with our correspondent on condition of anonymity, a member of the association said the association was planning to write the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, and also notify the Parents-Teachers Association of the newly imposed tax.

Politics › Governor Fubara: ‘I Feel Heavy In My Spirit, It’s Not Been Easy,’ by Morbeta11(op): 8:23am On Jan 30, 2024
The Rivers House of Assembly, which is loyal to Mr Wike, recently stripped Governor Fubara of powers to appoint officials for the local councils in the state.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has disclosed how the political crisis in the state is taking a toll on his emotional well-being.

Mr Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is the FCT minister, have been engaged in a fierce tussle over the control of governance and politics in the oil-rich state.

The Rivers House of Assembly, which is loyal to Mr Wike, recently stripped Governor Fubara of powers to appoint officials for the local councils in the state. Even members of Mr Fubara’s cabinet have pledged their loyalty to Mr Wike.

“I feel heavy in my spirit. It’s not been easy, I can say it,” Mr Fubara said on Sunday at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Opobo Town, Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State, at a thanksgiving service to celebrate the Supreme Court judgment which affirmed his election as Rivers governor.

The event coincided with the 49th birthday of the governor and was marked at the service which was live-streamed on Facebook.

Mr Fubara hails from Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area of the state.

In his remarks at the service, Mr Fubara said his family were suffering because of the political crisis in the state.

He told the congregants that a lot of people who ought to have attended the thanksgiving service were absent, apparently referring to Mr Wike, who is now the FCT minister.

“I want to ask a question. When I look at your faces, I see so much excitement, I see happiness. But the question is, am I happy? That is the question, am I happy?

“Does God give you a gift or a blessing and add sorrow to it?

“No,” the congregants retorted.

“So when I look at your faces how happy you are, even when I feel heavy in my spirit. I’m encouraged to be happy. That’s how I feel. It’s not been easy, I can say it.

“A lot of people who started this journey with us, ought to have been here with us but unfortunately they are not here. God knows why. You can’t question the almighty. But one thing we can’t take away is that God does not make any mistakes.

“It is a glory to say thank you to God. It gives me extra energy to continue with the battle. It is a battle, but no battle can be bigger than God.”

To end the political crisis in the state, President Bola Tinubu brokered a controversial peace deal between Messrs Fubara and Wike last month.

Mr Fubara acknowledged the president’s support. The governor also acknowledged the support from his own family.

“I want to thank my family. They are suffering, that is the truth. They are suffering because of this cause. You just have to be strong and understand that after a while, you will get me back.

“Maybe, I will take the birthday happiness to make myself happier than I was when I was coming. But in all, I want to ask that you all continue to pray for peace.

“We came in, we were selected because they believe we have something to do for our state. We have not been given the opportunity to do those things that we ought to do.

“We have had a lot of distractions but I strongly believe that while we navigate the part of peace, prayer is also needed for us to pass over this phase.

“We need peace, total peace on all sides so that we can focus and deliver the dividends of democracy. And this victory I dedicate it to peace,” Governor Fubara said.

Politics › God Promoted Me Through PDP - Governor Fubara by Morbeta11(op): 7:01am On Jan 29, 2024
He urged RCCG to keep praying for his administration towards achieving the purpose of governance.

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Sunday said his successes in life and the eventual elevation in his political journey were divinely made possible by God.

Governor Fubara said he was first promoted by God, who stirred the hearts of the leaders and members of his political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to agree on presenting him as their governorship candidate to win the election.

Fubara stated this at the 2024 Port Harcourt Holy Ghost Rally of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) with the theme: “Promotion for a purpose,” held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday.

The governor described the theme of the rally as a personal gift because it reflects his story

“I was promoted by God first, through my party and the leaders. So, promotion comes from God and God alone.

“Let me take the theme of the rally to be a personal gift from RCCG because the theme is not different from my story.

“I have a thanksgiving in my place where I will return this wonderful success in thanksgiving to the only person (God) who will make it permanent and forever.”

He expressed special gratitude to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who was present at the program, for his love for Rivers State as demonstrated by the choice of Port Harcourt for the special Holy Ghost Rally and blessings at the beginning of every year.

The governor promised the continued support of the government to ensure that the rally was a success in the State.

He urged RCCG to keep praying for his administration towards achieving the purpose of governance.

Thereafter, Governor Fubara proceeded to Saint Paul’s Anglican Church in his home town of Opobo in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area to attend a Service to thank God for his victory at the Supreme Court and to celebrate his 49th birthday anniversary.

Properties › Lagos Tenant Hospitalised As Landlady Breaks Into Apartment by Morbeta11(op): 6:50am On Jan 29, 2024
Olanike, the wife of a car dealer, Ayodeji Soetan, has been hospitalised after their landlady, Juliet Akano, allegedly vandalised and broke into his apartment at Tijani Bello in the Ojodu area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the incident happened at about 11 am on Wednesday, January 24.

Speaking with our correspondent on Sunday, Soetan said Akano stormed the premises of the two-storey building in the company of some suspected thugs.

According to him, one of them brought out a sledgehammer and started to demolish his door and windows before eventually breaking into his apartment.

He, however, lamented that the sudden demolition affected his wife who was later rushed to the hospital due to shock resulting in high blood pressure.

While narrating the incident, he said, “I had left home in the morning when my wife called to tell me that the landlady came with some people to vandalise my flat which is on the ground floor of the building. And by the time I got home, they had vandalised my door, including my bedroom and kitchen windows. My wife lost her pregnancy two months ago and she has been recovering from the loss, but the shock of the demolition was too much for her. She developed high blood pressure and now in the hospital.”

Soetan alleged that one of the men assaulted his neighbour who attempted to restrict them from going ahead with the demolition.

He said, “In the process of trying to stop them, one of the thugs she brought assaulted my neighbour. All these were happening in the presence of our landlady while she said nothing. After doing that, they went ahead and dug a hole around the building. I have no issue with her order than the house rent I want to pay her. I have offered to pay the rent which will be due by May this year, but she has refused to collect it. She did not even give me an audience at all.”

Soetan said no prior notice was made by the landlady before the demolition.

He also added the suspected thugs who carried out the exercise were not officials of the state government as claimed by Akano.

He said, “Before this incident, she had brought some people to mark the house, claiming they were Lagos State Government officials. She said the people who vandalised our property were government officials too. But when I made my findings, I found out that they were not from the state government. How would the Lagos State Government officials come to demolish people’s property in that manner?”

When contacted, Akano picked her call but later dropped it when our correspondent introduced himself. A text message sent to her had yet to be replied to as of the time this report was filed.

Politics › Re: Re: Northern Elder / Northern Youth, The Battle Line Has Been Drawn by Morbeta11(m): 3:17pm On Jan 28, 2024
Jagabanbattle:
I have been following the propaganda being dishes out against the person of President Asiwaju Tinubu the Jagaban of Borgu.

I will remind the Northern Elders and their youth a brief history. Before we South Western part of the country supported your failure population which will never win a presidential election in Nigeria, you never smell the seat of power by the core indigene of North except those selected by Obasanjo and some retired general.

We took power from the cabals that control you and give power to Muhammad Buhari who has been trying and failing since 2003. What did you repay us with? Betrayal! You subjected our youth to profiling using Efcc and sars, you threaten Tinubu with all security apparatus and went against all the candidate we Yoruba movement under Asiwaju supported. Akeredolu comes to mind but despite your games, we saw through the smoke screen. Akeredolu is our son and we accepted him. Smelling betrayal when Akeredolu went against your decision to install ruga on Southwest by force. You sent your apparatus against him and we supported him for second term.

You subjected Osinbajo to shame and we kept looking and acting like a fool. 8 years of Buhari was coming to an end and all you Elders and youth was drumming another 8 years of North. You never supported Tinubu, he won you hands down at APC primary. He took the ticket at the ground and not because you supported him.

Election came and you failed to deliver your states to us. Your hypocrisy has been noticed for long but we saw you people have over estimated yourself in the political landscape of Nigeria. We won the election on 2 grands. Plan A was to win majority vote by limiting Atiku's vote with Obi candidacy. Plan B was to decimate Atiku not to have required 25%. It was a game planned well because we knew your betrayal from day one.

Threatening we the South Western part of Nigeria with election consequences and the propaganda you have started after Hon. wike decimate your plan to distrubt Abuja with Kidnappers will have a better, sharp and political consequences. I will give you what is ahead of you now, you can play the game if you are capable.

President Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu will win second term as President of Federal republic of Nigeria again in 2027. After, is the turn of North Central which you use your 8yrs to subject to terrorism. North Central/South East presidency with South-South Senate Presidency which will be Hon. wike.

I have place the game before you, do your magic. We have tolerated your disrespect for long, this propaganda you started won't go unattended to.
What will happen to the unity, brotherhood and friendship FFK
Enveloped and sealed with the North that he vowed that will never be broken in a hundred years.....thought he was a western mouthpiece then.

Politics › Those Opposing Relocation Of FAAN, CBN Departments To Lagos Are Mischief Makers by Morbeta11(op): 12:53pm On Jan 28, 2024

He said the relocation of the departments is in the interest of the generality of Nigerians.

Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has faulted the position of those opposing the federal government’s decision to relocate some departments and units of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) from Abuja to Lagos, describing them as mischief makers.

Shettima, who spoke on Saturday as a Special Guest of Honour at the 10th Annual Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Lecture and Merit Awards in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, said the relocation was in the interest of Nigerians.

Speaking in Maiduguri, the vice president said President Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ would not make any policy or decision to be sectional, or at the detriment of some geographical location of the country.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the vice president said the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto of blessed memory lived a worthy life of emulation for the betterment of the North and the country as a whole.

Speaking on the theme: ‘Creating Pathways for Peace: Tackling Banditry and Insurgency through Good Governance for Sustainable Development in Nigeria’, Shettima commended the members of the Foundation for not only choosing Borno State as the venue for the lecture, but also for the theme, which he said, is apt and timely, given the numerous security challenges affecting the state, the North-east, and the country in general.

He said: “The event, in line with President Tinubu’s vision, has brought about many critical stakeholders, including traditional rulers to collectively brainstorm and chart a new way forward in bringing lasting solutions to end insecurity, banditry, kidnapping, poverty, corruption and all other social vices in the region and the nation in general.

“Recently, there were those opposing the federal government’s decision over the planned relocation of some departments and units of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) from Abuja to Lagos. I want to reassure the people of the North that the move is in the interest of the generality of Nigerians.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ would not make any policy or decision that would be sectional, or at the detriment of some geographical location of the nation; therefore, those opposing the relocation process of some of the departments should desist, or else they are acting as mischief makers,” Shettima stated.

In his speech, the Chairman, Board of Trustee of Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, and former governor of Niger State, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, said, the gathering was to commemorate the significant milestone and enduring legacy of Sir Ahmadu Bello, whose vision and leadership continue to inspire northerners in their quest for a better Nigeria.

The Guest Speaker, Professor Tijjani Mohammed Banded, whose paper dwelled extensively on tackling insecurity through good governance, suggested that “for the North to have sustainable development, all hands must be on deck with those in government to rebuild trust and work for peacebuilding, provision of quality education, modernisation of agriculture, building infrastructures, rebuilding civil service and building credible media.”

The Chairman of the occasion, Gombe State Governor, who is also the Chairman of Northern Governors’ Forum, Inuwa Yahaya, said the Foundation, since inception, has played a greater role in creating peace, unity and progress’ amongst Nigerians, describing these as some of the legacies of late Sir Ahmadu Bello.

He promised that the 19 state governors would continue to support the sustainability of the Foundation.

Also, the Chief Hosts, Governor Babagana Zulum and the Shehu of Borno, Dr Abubakar Ibn-Umar Garbai Al Amin El-Kanemi commended the organisers for choosing Borno as the venue, pointing out that it would accord the people an opportunity to proffer lasting solutions to the insecurity and poverty ravaging the state and the entire North.

Politics › Edwin Clark To Tinubu: Call Wike To Order — He’s Not Ready For Peace In Rivers by Morbeta11(op): 6:53am On Jan 27, 2024
Edwin Clark, convener of Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), has asked Presideent Bola Tinubu to call Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), to order over the political crisis in Rivers state.

BACKGROUND

Over the past few months, there has been a crisis in Rivers as a result of the feud between Siminalayi Fubara, governor of the state, and Wike, his predecessor.

In the wake of the crisis, the Rivers house of assembly commenced impeachment proceedings against Fubara.

But the governor’s loyalists kicked against the impeachment moves.

Thereafter, 27 lawmakers believed to be loyal to Wike defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Subsequently, Edison Ehie, factional speaker of the Rivers assembly, declared the seats of the lawmakers who defected to the APC, vacant.

On December 18 2023, Fubara and Wike agreed to end the political feud between them following Tinubu’s intervention.

According to the resolutions reached at the end of their meeting with Tinubu, all parties to the crisis in Rivers agreed that all matters instituted in courts should “immediately” be withdrawn.

In the eight-point resolution signed by Fubara, Wike, and other Rivers stakeholders, it was agreed that all impeachment proceedings against the governor should be dropped “immediately”.

They also agreed that Martin Amaewhule should be recognised as the speaker while the 27 lawmakers who defected should be taken back as members of the assembly.

Weeks after the agreement, Wike in a visit to Victor Giadom, a chieftain of the APC, in Bera, Gokana LGA of Rivers, said the individual who wields political control in Rivers would be known at the appropriate time.

Alluding to the political crisis in Rivers, Wike said the person “in charge” of the state’s political structure would be unveiled soon.

However, Clark in a statement on Thursday, said Wike “has not rested” and “has not shown any regard and respect for Mr. President in his actions”.

“The continuous activities of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike, are clear indications that he is not ready for peace in Rivers State,” Clark said.

He has been to Rivers State a number of times, where he brags, making inciting and provocative statements.

“For instance, on Saturday 6th January, 2024, in Gokana Local Government Area, Rivers State, when he went to visit Hon. Victor Giadom, he reminded his audience that he is still in-charge of the State. How? Can there be two Governors in a State at the same time?

“All of Nyesom Wike’s actions, is no doubt a clear case of disobedience to Mr. President’s authority.

Let the truth be told to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nyesom Wike is not ready for any form of peace.

“Therefore, I call on the President, once again, to sanction Mr. Wike and call him to order to allow the elected Governor, Siminalaye Fubara, whom he, Nyesom Wike, claimed he made to govern Rivers State peacefully.”
