Nairaland GeneralRe: A 5-year-old Girl Is World's Youngest Mother. by Mortiple(m): 10:13am On Sep 08, 2011
5 Year Old?! This is hard to believe.

Probably, 5 years is her official age.

On the other hand, she may have spent over 10 years in her mother's womb before being born. 10 + 5 = 15 years. If so, it is possible. grin
TV/MoviesRe: Which Cable Tv Decoder Is Your Favourite? by Mortiple(m): 5:19pm On Sep 06, 2011
@poster: this your market survey good o! grin Me too wan watch CHELSEA TV 247!

Back to your question: I've got DSTV and HITV. Planning to buy STRONG soonest.

HITV seems to be more durable as I have carried out repairs on my DSTV decoder twice. Also, It booths faster; has free to air channels (though mostly shit); requires lesser energy (power) to function; monthly subscription is cheap (because they have nothing to offer).

DSTV on the other hand has: more and better channels; no free-to-air channels; variety of bouquets; reasonable monthly subscriptions when compared with their offerings.
From what I have gathered, STRONG seems to be best. Most Cards work in it;

Don't forget all coaches have their own 'boys', just that Nigerian indigenous coaches tend to abuse it. Nothing was heard of Femi Opabunmi immediately Coach Onigbinde was dropped as National Team coach. Same goes to Coach Christian Chukwu who never failed to irritate us with regular invitation of Paul Obiefule, Romanus Orjinta, Seyi Olofinjana, etc. Just as Patrick Ovie was a recurrent decimal in Austin Eguavoen's team list, as well. Sia 1 has towed that same line. Hope they won't disappoint him someday.
Music/RadioRe: NBC Bans Dbanj's 'Oliver Twist" Song For Lewd Lyrics by Mortiple(m): 2:59pm On Sep 01, 2011
Hope this ban won't turn out to be a promo in disguise as was the case of a certain fuji act, SAINT JANET, whose song was banned by Lagos State House of Assembly.
Music/RadioRe: Do You Still Listen To Radio Programs? by Mortiple(m): 2:51pm On Sep 01, 2011
O yea I still do!

My favourite programme  on radio is Political Platform on Ray Power 100.5FM; Monday - Friday, 9.15am - 9.45am.  It's anchored by the quartet of Austin Agbosuremi, Amechi Anakwe, Mustapha Mohammed and Ehiedu Aniagwu.

I also listen to Metro FM a lot, for various educative programmes they broadcast.

Classic FM usually play my kind of music - OLD SKOOL.

I tune to BOND FM on 92.9 whenever I want to listen to music and culture of my people.
Music/RadioRe: 99% Of Nigerian Hip Hop Singers Are Clowns by Mortiple(m): 2:32pm On Jul 28, 2011
Orikinla:
The live performances of 99% of Nigerian hiphop singers are very amateurish.  Yes, they are entertainers. Just like clowns are entertainers. They remind me of our high school performances.
No be mi talk am o!!!
Anyway, the problem is not peculiar with Nigerian hip-hop musicians, other genres are  guilty too.  They no longer make good music but NOISE, yet people celebrate them. As far as I am concerned, Naija music is on reverse gear.  Abeg play me some old skool tunes.
CultureRe: Ézè Ǹrì gi gá Frontier Culture Museum | Nigerian king to visit FCM by Mortiple(m): 1:30pm On Jul 28, 2011
afam4eva:
He's the king of Nri kingdom and nothing else. Though he will be revered by Igbos for being the head of the town where Igbos supposedly originated from.

I've always wondered why he's not as popular as the Obi of Onitsha,Obi of Achalla, Ahagba of Asaba and the Dein of Agbor.
IGBO ENWE EZE; IGBO AMA EZE (Igbos don't have/recognize kingship) is a popular saying in Igboland. This practice must have been borrowed from our neighbours.

ChinenyeN:
Yes, you are correct. Chukwu belongs to the Aro and not the Nri. Chukwu is (or was) Ibini Ukpabi until Missionaries adapted the name to help spread Christianity.
This is not correct! The Igbo name for the Most High God is CHUKWU (Chi-nke-Ukwu). It neither belongs to Aro nor Nri. I rather think Aro people decided to called Ibini Ukpabi, "Chukwu" to express it's greatness and power. I don't also think the Missionaries adopted the name to help spread Christianity, as there is no record to prove that Christianity got to Aro before other parts of Igboland. By the way, there are Igbos in hinterland that never encountered both the missionaries and Aros.

PoliticsRe: Jonathan's Single-tenure Proposal Fraudulent, Self-serving . ACN. by Mortiple(m): 12:29pm On Jul 28, 2011
Goodluck Jonathan has goofed!  I feel raped and disgraced by this latest move.  Opposition parties SHOULD FORGIVE ME FOR VOTING FOR THIS MAN!

This was a man who employed all subtleness to get people's mandate.  Barely two months in office, he is not concerned about the sinking ship called Nigeria of which he is the Captain, rather he is pursuing six-year single term in office, which is an effort in futility.  Thank goodness, NASS (especially the House of Rep) won't assent to it. The Tanbuwals and Ihediohas of the Assembly must rise up to the occasion for the interest of peace and unity of this country.  Also, our Elder Statesmen, Spiritual Leaders, Traditional Leaders, Political Activists, Opinion Leaders, etc (I mean those that have not sold their conscience) should condemn it in strong terms publicly.

I am not afraid though, the bill will failed just as Baba Iyabo's third term agenda did. By the way, four years are not too short for someone to make an impact in office. If only he channels the same amount of energy he used during electioneering campaign and the one he is reserving for this nonsensical mission, Nigerians will better of.

clemcykul:
the Lebanese and Chinese ought to be deported. for crying out loud, the Ghanian's are fellow blacks and west africans and they treat Nigerians over there better!

why not deport the Malians, Chadians and the Niger republicans who cause havoc in the north?

just fed up with this system at times. angry

the lebanese who look down on Nigerians and the Chinese who have made Nigeria a dumping ground , ought to be sent packing instead of our neighbors the GHANAIANS!
Spot on!

MISPLACED PRIORITY as always. But can't our leaders get it right for once?

The Malians, Chadians and Nigeriens are scattered all over Lagos too. The authorities never go after them anyway. From personal experience, Ghanaians are  friendlier and more responsible than immigrants from other African countries.

This is a shame!
CrimeRe: Stella Oduah, Jonathan New Aviation Minister Is A Fraud by Mortiple(m): 3:47pm On Jul 05, 2011
@poster; your story is both contradictory and childish!

The most laughable, among all accusations is that she is "Jonathan's sex machine". grin huh Was it before or after Jonathan became president? If before, then she could have opted for his superiors at that time. If after, then there is an error somewhere, as this woman has been making waves in Oil and Gas Industry for more than Ten Years now! By the way, why would Jonathan (President) settle for a third-wife of his fellow man, when there are younger, sweeter, sexier, more succulent, more beautiful girls and ladies all over the country (praying for presidential touch)?

Please cook up better allegations!

CultureRe: Igbo Royal Fathers Move To End Osu Cast System by Mortiple(m): 1:35pm On Jun 09, 2011
Okoro2015:
Osu Caste system in Igbo land is like a Stubborn fly perching on the Scrotum Sac. Caution is needed in order not to aggravate the seemingly controlled case.
GBAM!!!

Osu issue is a very sensitive one. People who continually bring it up for deliberation in public domain are not helping the situation. They end up sensitizing our young ones, especially those born in the city that are not even conscious of its existence. I think the system will die a natural death if no one discusses it in years to come.

For instance, in some localities in Igbo land in the past, free born would not buy or sell products to them; allow them participate in (village) meeting; invite them or attend their functions; participate in Osu's wake-keep (as it was an abomination to pass night there); befriend or marry an Osu, confer an Osu with a Chieftaincy title, etc.  All of these have changed, except on the issue of marriage.

The Eze's should do more than talking.  Let them encourage their children and immediate family to marry Osu (that is, if they themselves are Free Born); by so doing, their subjects will take them serious.

Simple question Ezeuche :

GEJ or Pat Utomi ,who will be better for the development of IGBO land. No search deep down in your conscience and give me a honest answer.
The honest answers:

Pat Utomi announced his withdrawal from the Presidential race on 29/03/2011.

We NDIGBO believe that the Saint (Goodluck) we know is better than the Angel (Buhari, Shakarau, Ribadu etc) we don't know.

PoliticsRe: Ohakim Calls For Calm by Mortiple(m): 5:50pm On Apr 04, 2011
@Andrewnwa, please stop fooling yourself. They have failed our people of Imo State. OHAKIM = OKOROCHA = ARARUME. They are SAME OF THE SAME (apology to Jimmy Agbaje). Shikena!!!

OHAKIM: should realize that four years is enough to achieve something meaningful other than CLEAN AND GREEN. What is even Clean and Green? Planting of flowers and clearing of refuse within Owerri Metropolis! For several months, lecturers were on strike in Imo State. What about 10,000 jobs scam? No road built or fixed? Water is as scarce as fuel! No portable water anywhere. To enjoy electricity, communities have resorted to self-help. Someone should tell us what Ohakim has achieved with Federal Allocation + Oil Derivative to do?

OKOROCHA is a lousy b.r.a.t! He goes about deceiving the gullible public with his non-existent or better still his over-hyped philanthropy. All na lie lie!!

ARARUME is not different either. Eight years as a Senator with nothing to show for it! He is one of them who would collect fund meant for constituency projects and utilize it alone. He, like others are accountable/answerable to no one. They would come seeking for sympathy during election time.

May the JUDGEMENT OF GOD fall upon all of them.
Foreign AffairsRe: Unacceptable : France Takes Over Abidjan International Airport by Mortiple(m): 1:53pm On Apr 04, 2011
Great news! Thank you France.

Many African countries have continually demonstrated to the outer world that they cannot govern themselves. If re-colonization is what will make their economy to work, why not?  Since gaining independence, poverty, corruption and such vices have remained rife in most of these African countries including Nigeria.

This is indeed food for thought for Nigeria politicians.

Sharing posts and money just to win election. This guy is too desperate.
I totally disagree.  No amount of money spent on our educational sector will ever be too much.  Desperation or not, does it really matter?  If GEJ could fix Nigeria's basic problems during this electioneering campaign, in order to win, why not?

My great concern - let the government create more jobs for the unemployed graduates, especially.

You are NOT wrong to expect the best from your wife. Just thread softly with her so as not to destroy your marriage.

You must have been told beforehand that there are areas of adjustment in every marriage. This could be one of them. Tolerance, understanding and communication are crucial impetus you need at this time. Since we don't stop learning as long as we are still breathing, why not get somebody to teach her or link her up with the cook at 'your favorite joint'.

honeric01:
Chinedu Udeh, Heartland
Heartland appear to have pulled off a coup in the transfer market by beating their oriental rivals, Enugu Rangers, in signing one of the biggest goalkeeping talents in the professional league in Nigeria. At age 19, Udeh stands at an intimidating 6 ft 4 with sharp reflexes to cut off crosses. Udeh was initially thought to have joined Enugu Rangers for this season on a year loan deal from Inter Enugu before the Naze Millionaires’ coach, Samson Siasia, snapped him up. Enugu Rangers’ coach, Alphonsus Dike, was impressed with what he had seen of the goalkeeper and said: “He has prospects because he has shown that since he came to us. But in spite of his massive talent between the sticks, Udeh will have to compete with other Heartland goalkeepers.
