Do i have anything to worry about if my fiancee earns more than me? she works with an oil company. although she has not shown any sign of arrogance.
Broda man, what else do you want?  I should think you are afraid she might show "sign of arrogance" in future.  OR are you afraid of a sayings of our elders that goes thus: a wife that provides for the upkeep of the family usually talks to her husband disrespectfully? (This is not usually the case anyway.)

Where she works or what she earns shouldn't matter if you really love each other.

It is needless to shout 'God forbid!' when obituary is announced.  Nigeria situation can not be remedied except by divine intervention. It is a shame that Nigeria won't be participating at the first FIFA senior world cup to be hosted in Africa.

In the event of not being able to qualify (which is very likely), I suggest that none of the 'Super Chickens' who played against Mozambique in Maputo and Tunisia in Abuja should be allowed to represent us at the Nations Cup, IMO. Let's give other players a chance, even if they fail.

I think i must say something on this thread now, 'cos am just too bitter about HITV and their magomago. HITV increased their subscription fee 'cos they'll be showing more football matches viz laliga, seria, epl & uefa champs. But they've confirmed now that laliga's right was lost (so the sub fee should reduce). Even the italian league been shown was all these bottom three clubs. Why cant they show Acmilan VS Inter? Imagine i have to go to viewing center to watch that entertaining match, when i have a month subs on my HITHIEF card? When this subs expire, i am not paying a dim again, viewing centers here i come. And for the viewing centers, most of them are not even on HITHIEF platform again, just buy a very big dish and contact your installer, u will get aljazera 1 to 6, show time etc with live football matches. all fotball leageus and sport. If u neeed a dish and decoder, mine is up for sale at a very reasonable and reduced price.
Towards the end of 2008/09 season. HITV deceived many susbscribers through an ad: "12 reasons why you must suscribe to HITV (or something)". The ad deceived us that viewers will watch live matches from EPL, SPL, La Liga, Seria A, F.A. Cup, Carling Cup, ECL, ACL, etc. We now know better.

Well as for me, my mind is made up. DSTV is it! I've got MYTV already. Afterall, viewer shall not live by football alone , !

Meanwhile I saw an ad from HITV in the newspaper over the weekend threatening to use all legal means to deal with CTL and others who are infringing on their exclusivity rights. Hope "others" is not referring to Free-to-Air channels (that show live matches)? Perhaps they would seek the help of Aso Rock, White House and British Paliament to put an end to these enemies of their progress, forever. grin
TV/MoviesRe: HiTV Subscribers Question And Answer Forum by Mortiple(m): 3:06pm On Aug 21, 2009
It is just a matter of time, HITV will surely pack up! 50% increase without justification is criminal, to say the least.

Many Nigeria Pay-TV subscribers thought DSTV was ripping them off, no wonder HITV was given a rousing welcome. The same people whom we were exorcising demons with suddenly turned and accused us of being demons. We now know better! HITV is even attempting to do what DSTV never considered necessary over several years - i.e. trying to coerce viewing centres to pay extra money.

Indeed the battle line is drawn and obviously HITV will be the sore loser at the end. I join my voice in condemning the insensitivity and dubiousness of HITV to its subscribers. Toy-in Sub-air should listen to the voice of reasoning before it's too late.
SportsRe: Vivian Chukwuemeka Returns Home by Mortiple(m): 3:36pm On Aug 19, 2009
Vivian is known to be outspoken. She openly criticizes AFN officials when need arises. I suspect this is a plot to shut her up forever.

But why would she take drug now that her retirement is near?  Something she never did during her peak periods; not even at 2002 and 2006 World cup wherein she finished 7th and 8th respectively.  Of course I know human beings can be funny at times.

Nigeria is about returning from the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Berlin without a medal, yet AFN is 'working hard' to ensure that Vivian Chukwuemeka is disgraced.  Ethiopia, Kenya, Eritrea, Bahamas, Jamaica, etc are already on medals table. Giant of Africa, my foot!  Shame to bad people (at AFN)!!

AFN claimed to have tested her at a meet that she never attended.  What a joke!

HITV wants subscribers to pay N6,000 per month (a whooping N72,000 per annum) to watch what?

This is sheer wickedness! Naija exploitative tendency unleashed! Did they ever consider the global economic meltdown?

Thank goodness, I am barely chanced to watch matches these days. Besides, football is not my first hobby as in sports. It comes after Athletics, Basketball and Tennis. La Liga is not even on their list. So kini big deal?

It seems they have lost the right. It is time to MOVE UP to DSTV (that is if they've got the right to air La Liga) OR MYTV (to watch Christian Channels + E-Channel).

HITV has goofed big time. It is a big shame!

(2) Midnight Crew - Igwe (as wells as 'Kene Jesus')
(3) Oriental Brothers - Onye si nani ya biri (+ several others from same Band)
(4) Peacock Int'l Band - Egwu Mgbashiriko (+ ALL other songs from the Band)
(5) Ebenezer Obey - Baby mi jowo (many other songs from the Evangelist)
(6) Skylark Band - Ndi Oru Uzo (+ ALL other songs from the Band)
(7) Osita Osadebe - Nri Sports Club (+ many other songs from him)

CultureRe: Kalabari People! by Mortiple(m): 1:21pm On Mar 13, 2009
I am neither a Kalabari nor an Ijaw.  I am a full-blooded Igbo man.  I was enjoying this thread until I stumbled on some misrepresented facts about the Kalabaris and Igbos.

Kiwi992 rightly said that "Ibos never waged any war against the Kalabari people" but was wrong to have thought it was because "[s]they didn't know the topology of the riverine area or indeed, how to swim, for that matter[/s]." FACTS: (i) Igbos do not share common boundary with the Kalabaris (I stand to be corrected). (ii) Igbos never consider predating on their neighbours as an act of heroism.  (iii) When he sets out, no task is ever too difficult for an Igbo man to achieve.

Kiwi992 wrote:
", Rather, we waged wars against them (sadly), for our own selfish reasons, mainly to fuel the slave trade.  They still hate us up 'til today for that and I don't blame them for it."

Are you kidding me? This is like saying the people of Bahamas or Samoa waged war against the U.S.A "for their own selfish reasons, mainly to fuel the slave trade". This statement is ridiculous!

Igbos may hate you, definitely not because of the above reason you stated.  We HATE YOU because of your betrayal during the Nigerian Civil War.  Unfortunately, you are paying dearly for your sins now. The Ijaws will remain slaves of the Nigerian state until Jesus comes!

Quote from Kiwi992 and Killayut: [s]The Bonny and Kalabari chiefs  traded  with Europeans and had a lot of Igbo slaves. During that time some Europeans had sexul contact with Kalabari and Bonny people that produced  new breed of people. Then after the slave trade many Igbo people were also adopted in  to Kalabari and Bonny families,

Besides  this. the Kalabari dialect is every thing the same with the Ibani dialect,  The ibanis only lost theirs to Igbos  for reasons  known.[/s]

Are you telling me that a people lost their dialect to their supposed "slaves" (IGBOS)? It's like someone is being too economical with the truth. Could not be that Igbo migrants got to Kalabari towns and TOOK OVER?

Please back up your story with facts.
FamilyRe: Divorce Proceedings 2 Months Into A Marriage. by Mortiple(m): 11:10am On Mar 12, 2009
@poster
With all due respect, this your friend must be a SAINT. You took time to enumerate the sins of this devil-incarnate of a lady but NEVER mentioned one FAULT of your friend. Haba! I shouldn't be surprised since you never supported the relationship from the onset.  grin

My advice:

1.  Divorce is never the solution. What makes you think they won't seek divorce in future relationship?  Your friend should involve his wife's parents/relations (especially those she listens to) and her spiritual leader for a reconciliation meeting.

2.  They may consider consulting a seasoned Marriage Counselor for assistance. This is after they have admitted that they have a problem and urgently need help.

3.  They may consider separating for a period (e.g 6 months) to 'sort' their lives out. During this period, they will be seeing each other twice or more weekly but must not live together.

4.  Probably the most effective step is for both to: renew their marital vows (commitment), point out each others fault and areas that need to be improved upon, outline what each expects from the other, etc.

Every marriage has 'a trial period', this could be theirs.

I am looking forward to the day when HITV will show International football friendlies, English F.A. Cup, Carling Cup, German Bundesliga, French Championat, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, other life sporting activities etc. It is not all about English Premier League.

Considering Arsenal's current form powered by key players injuries, this seems like MISSION IMPOSSIBLE.

Prediction: Arsenal 1 Man United 3.

Meanwhile, touting has taken over HITV office. This is authoritative! It is just a matter of paying N500 to a tout and you would be attended to before the overflowing crowd who are there for similar purpose. These touts are regular faces and work in connivance with HITV staffers (especially those at the counter). @URFRIEND, do not attempt to dispute this, because I witnessed it on Saturday, 22/10/08.

toskom:
We say welcome to Daarsat to the world of pay tv. this is not just a tv business but a serious matter. Will Daarsat compete with other pay tv, the answer is "LET US WAIT AND SEE". But this is what i believe, Daarsat may compete with other Pay tv like DSTV,MYTV etc but when it comes to HITV, i don't think so. the reason is that Hitv are defining there own station and this is simply what makes HITV different from other pay tv.

Recently hitv just added another station called AMULUDUN ( a complete yoruba movie and music station) you will not find such station on other platform. this is where hitv has the edge. Look at other stations like BISCON, HI-MIX, NIGEZIE, HI-NOLLY, HI-LIFE etc this is the edge that HITV will have above other pay tv apart from the football stuff.

Recently NIGEZIE AND HI-NOLLY were nominated for the HOTBIRD AWARD, this is the first time a nigerian defined station will be nominated for such award. Also this two station will soon find itself being aired in the UK. this is a great milleage for Hitv.

Let us just wait and see but i see no competition with HITV but probably with other pay tv.

[s]Please i am not an HITV staff, i just happen to be a customer and this is just my opinion .[/s]

@Urfriend, you must be living in a fool's paradise! Your sense of reasoning and good judgement must have been beclouded by the stipends you get from HITV. Your words/statements make me sick!

Having paid subscription 8 DAYS ago without being reactivated, I went to HITV office this morning. In fact, I met over 200 people who had similar problems. I got there at 7:45am hoping to finish all I have to do there before 8:30am I should be out of the place. Incidentally, the accursed HITV staff refused to attend to customers until about 8:45am! Despite all the troubles, I left there at about 9:30am without achieving anything since I had to attend to more important matters. I can imagine many of the customers were there as early as 5am!

HITV customer care service is nonexistent. Call their numbers, they are either busy or no response when it eventually rings. One can't even contact them through their website! SHAME! SHAME!! SHAME!!!

When will they stop to insult our sensibilities?

But for EPL and La Liga, what business will I have with HITV?
