So wetin come be your own? |
The proverbial monkey said that she does not trust anyone in this life except the unborn baby in her womb; she does not even trust the baby monkey on her back because he might unplug a fruit without her knowledge. EXPERIENCE, they say, is the best teacher. Of course, anyone who is taught by 'the best teacher' comes out stronger. Now that you have passed through this 'experience', it is time to move on. |
Goodness me! What a big loss!! God have mercy. May God grant those he left behind the fortitude to bear the loss. Amen. |
Weep Not My Child! ![]() Hope you are not here to draw sympathy for HITV and incite us against Sanusi? If yes, then mission won't be accomplished. Sanusi and CBN have no hand in the calamity that has just befallen Toyin Subair and HITV. Their problem was sheer greed and lack of business acumen. Shikena! Where were you when WE CRIED for certain urgent steps to be taken so that it will be a win-win situation for HITV and their subscribers and nothing happened? Subscribers were charged exorbitantly for wishy-washy services - N6,000 for EPL only. Where were you when subscribers would have to carry their decoder to Ebute Metta, Lagos to get re-connected after making payment at GT Bank days or weeks earlier? In the process, many lost their SMART CARD to touts who usually had a field day at their office. Not forgetting, the additional cost, risk and inconveniences involved, just to watch EPL! Where were you when subscribers would call HITV customer care service lines and get no response ALL DAY LONG, even when it rang all-through? Where were you when HITV was busy pursuing other cable and satellite companies here in Nigeria, something that DSTV has never done? They did not stop at that, they also went after Viewing Centres across Lagos and other cities of the federation. Do I need to add that DSTV never stooped so low! They had opportunity to step up but rather choose to exhibit Bourgeoisie tendencies towards other players in the industry. Broda me, abeg leave matter for Matthias! |
Ochukss:THE MANY SINS OF HITV: --- Exorbitant increase of their subscription from N4,000 to N6000 without a commensurate increase in programme content and quality. (Subscribers begged, pleaded, complained and protested, yet they remained adamant). --- Unlawful closure of VIEWING CENTRES (notwithstanding the size) especially in Lagos whose operators refused to pay N15,000 (commercial) subscription. --- Illegal closure of CTL and Trend TV of which both companies later obtained order from the court restraining HITV from disrupting their operations. --- HITV legal battle with Association of Cable TV Owners (ACON) for HITV's refusal to license programmes especially EPL to its members. --- Poorly managed customer care services. Customers get their issues sorted out after several days/weeks of calls and visits. --- etc. Well, the dye is cast. It appears that HITV are on a brick of total collapse. It is really unfortunate but I do not sympathize with them anyway, considering the trauma and palpitation of the heart they caused many of us overtime. VERILY VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU: A FLY THAT DOES NOT LISTEN TO ADVICE WILL FOLLOW COPSE INTO GRAVE. |
This can't be true! www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-351304.0.html It is either HITV or DSTV is not telling the truth. |
@URSERVICE:Free me please!! Let us put sentiment aside. If you juxtapose HITV charges (as in subscription) with their services, you will agree that customers are being RIPPED OFF. We have tried to make them see reasons on this forum and elsewhere why their subscription on premium bouquet should not exceed 4,000, all to no avail. The truth is: I, as well as many existing subscribers of HITV consider it wasteful to keep paying N6,000 to watch EPL and ECL. |
God bless those gallant solders. I would have done same in the past if I were a soldier. I can't forget in a hurry, one particular incident that I was pursued like a common criminal for no offense in Ikeja GRA. Even as we all appreciate the good work of LASTMA on Lagos roads, their excesses should no longer be overlooked. |
Security operatives call it ROJA (ROGER); Civil Servants call it TABLE ALLOWANCE while the gentlemen of the press call it PEN ALLOWANCE. Where man dey WORK, na there him dey get money for SHOPping (work + shop = Workshop). ![]() |
aieromon:They would not let me rest too. Perhaps, they are beginning to realize that 'customers are kings' (although this is coming rather too late). It remains to be seen if this new marketing orientation at HITV will be sustained as the season commences. Having said that, STARTIMES TV might likely be their major threat, as many Nigerians would deem it wise to pay N1,000 to watch a bouquet that is equivalent to all that HITV has got MINUS English Premier League and European Champions League rather than pay N6,000 for JUST EPL/ECL. I have decided to buy STARTIMES TV, while I would watch EPL/ECL at a viewing centre near my house. By so doing, I will be saving a whooping N4,000 or more monthly (i.e. N48,000 annually) + HITV Wahala. |
This is least expected from the man that occupies the NO 3 POSITION of our country. This indeed exposes his ignorance, hatred and shallow perception of Igbos. No wonder, the National Assembly has remained adamant to pass the bill for creation of additional state in the South East to tally with other geo-political zones that have 6 states already. |
Kalu and his mother have milked Abia State dry. Nothing seems to be working. What a pity! His latest political move will definitely nail his coffin. The time for him to become perpetually irrelevant has come. I foresee his candidates (god sons and god brothers) losing out completely. Authur Nzeribe will be better of. |
The following contest is scheduled for one fall introducing first: fighting out of the red corner, in company of his vice, he is the current PDP and National Super-Heavy Weight Champion , President Goodluck Jonathan!!!!!!! His opponent , , making his way to the ring, accompanied by his running mate, he is the current AC Champion of Champions , Nuhu Ribaduuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow! It is surely going to be a great match-up!! This is obviously a good step in the right direction by AC. Hope, the leakage of this info won't boomerang. Babatunde Fashola should remain focused on his second term agenda. Residents of Lagos State still want him to continue. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu seems to be a good choice for VP but his role as AC tactician (in the order of Jose Morinho) is okay for the party. |
BEST 3 Babatunde Raji Fashola (BRF) - Lagos State - He remaineth No. 1. Coming in distant second and third positions are: Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi - Rivers State - (Based on media reports) Sullivan Chime - Enugu State - (Also based on media reports) WORST 3 Theodore Orji (Abia State) and Alao Akala (Oyo State) - both are tied in 1st position. Ikedi Ohakim (Imo State) and Gbenga Daniel (Ogun State) - both are tied in 2nd position. Isah Yuguda (Bauchi State) |
Thanks a lot for the info. |
This is lovely. KIA products are good (although yet to catch up with Japanese brands like Toyota, Honda, etc). I wonder why they have only one outlet for repairs and servicing i.e. DANA MOTORS thereby making it too expensive when compared with others. KIA Motors parts are not sold in the market. Something has to be done, please. Meanwhile, I drive KIA OPTIMA. |
Hey woman, take it easy! The steps you are taking (or about to take) will only make matters worse. influentia:The law of the land will definitely catch up with you. What will happen to your baby whom you profess to love? Be wise! Agreed your husband is a SERIAL R.A.P.I.S.T. You are right to say that HE HAS A PROBLEM. Perhaps what you did not add is that HE NEEDS HELP of which ONLY YOU, HIS WIFE (and the mother of his child) can render. There is NO ACTION without a REASON WHY. How did water enter the pipe of a pumpkin leave? Could it be a curse, hereditary, failure on your part to satisfy him, etc. Thank goodness you made the discovery at this stage (not so early though). Me think, very few people know about it, as his victims might not have shared their ordeal with people for fear of being stigmatized. The way you handle this 'trial' will make or destroy your marriage/home. Every marriage has its own challenges. Beware of evil counsel. Tell your spiritual leader or a seasoned marriage counselor. Again I say, be wise! May the Lord strengthen you. |
Vainglory:It is not only the Urhobos, other ethnic groups in Nigeria are also culpable - the Hausa/Fulanis, Igbos, Ijaws, Yorubas, etc. Yes it is "suppressive and primitive" because greater percent of our people are not enlightened, hence it is considered as white people's culture. (Just my opinion). |
redcliff:What makes you think you? Fhemmmy:Many of these agents actually encourage landlords to increase rent since higher rent means more money for them. It is indeed pathetic. |
CIV should avoid conceding another goal. Barry BASKET must wake up to his duty now! |
Chaiiiii!!!!!!! What is wrong with African Teams in this world cup? Why is Didier Zokora not playing? |
Joseph Eva, a popular Ijaw activist once suggested on Kubanji Direct, Radio Continental FM programme (here in Nigeria) that Ghana should "use horsewhips and brooms to drive out every Nigeria in that country". He prefers that we all "remain in Nigeria to solve the problems we created for ourselves." ![]() |
homerac7:I beg to differ! Please tell us, who among them is not good? They have got seasoned analysts such as Deji Omotoyinbo, Deji Tinubu, Akintunde Bada, etc. These guys are above average, to say the least. I feel this is one area HI-TV is doing great (IMO). |
kosovo:This is what I posted earlier: "These traditionalists aren't joking! These (their) gods are merciless and the criminals and kidnappers know it. This is what you get in a sinking State. Of a truth, security agencies in the land have failed us. Just like someone pointed out, I wish the curse is extended to both past and present political office holders in the country. But the priests wont allow it because they enjoy patronage from them." Did I, at anytime dispute the efficacy of your Oba's CURSES? Even if I did, what is your own? Would you force your opinion on me? Subsequently, learn to read other people's post carefully before responding. Meanwhile, Nairaland should not be seen as a war zone, where people trade insults. I believe that respecting others is an evidence of maturity. |

I once stumbled on a Thread on Facebook wherein these our supposed Delta Igbo brethren were responding to a question "How do you react when someone calls you an Igbo person?" Their responses were really embarrassing and disgraceful, to say the least. Only two guys amongst the lot claimed Igbo, others rather choose to be associated historically with the Binis, Igalas, Ijaws etc. Having succeeded in distorting the historical origin of the Asaba people, it is now the turn of of the Ibusas (Igbo-bi-na-uzo). I read a write up by one Emeka Esogbue, who claims that not all Ibusas migrate from Igboland; some are from bini, etc, according to him. Delta Igbos are often quick to tell you about their patriarch, who was previously known as Ezechima, but now Izechime (Note, the distortion is designed to execute the propaganda). I think this whole denial started after the Nigerian civil war. There is a popular belief among them that they suffered more casualties than the South-Eastern Igbos, yet they do not enjoy equal rights and privileges with them in nominations, appointments, selections, elections etc into Federal positions. This argument might sound sensible but they must not forget that they belong to a difference Geographical/Geo-political Zone (previously Mid-West and now South-South), which is the determining factor. The South-Eastern Igbos should stop bothering about what they call themselves. They can be Binis, Yorubas or even Hausas, for all I care. They are doing themselves a great disservice, if not, why are they backward in Delta State politics despite their large population? Uhrobo/Isoko has produced governors, Ishekiri also, perhaps Ijaw will be next on line. When will it be the turn of the Delta Igbos? Your guess is as good as mine. |
Obu gini na eme ebe a? Cheta kwanu na: Agwo zere isi ya, ala eburu onya! (whenever the Snake dodges its head (from the killer's attack), the ground suffers an injury. Igbo birikwe nu o! |
Kennyblues:I didn't watch it. What a National dis-grace?! ![]() I was a regular viewer of his sports programme on Silverbird TV some years back. Then, He, Temisan Okomi (now at HITV) and Effiong Nyong (now at Radio Continental) would come on air to lampoon and criticize Nigerian sports officials especially NFF with so much effrontery. Many of these journalists are only gifted in talking smoothly; they are not so intelligent. If you are in doubt, please try others and let us see. |
@poster Poor you! Why feed yourself with garbage, when the Holy Bible is there for you to read? May be, you are not a believer in Christ and therefore do not have the the Holy Spirit (of God) that enables His own to understand the Word of God. This is what the Holy Bible says: John 1:1-14 1 In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 He created everything there is. Nothing exists that he didn’t make. 4 Life itself was in him, and this life gives light to everyone. 5 The light shines through the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. 6 God sent John the Baptist 7 to tell everyone about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. 8 John himself was not the light; he was only a witness to the light. 9 The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was going to come into the world. 10 But although the world was made through him, the world didn’t recognize him when he came. 11 Even in his own land and among his own people, he was not accepted. 12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn! This is not a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan—this rebirth comes from God. 14 So the Word became human and lived here on earth among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.* And we have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father. May the Lord give you understanding. Amen! |
freetwo:It is quite a pity! I gathered from a reliable source that the Redeemed Church landed property begins from immediately after Deeper Life Camp (from Lagos axis). They took possession of the land in the early 80s and secured the C of O when a certain Ogun State governor was in charge. They were used to ignoring encroachment into their land until lately. It is told that the Redeemed Church was the first organisation (as in Church, Mosque, Company, Institution etc) that occupied the area, as it was then viewed as THE DEN OF ROBBERS. Little wonder they were able to acquire massive portion of land. The same Omoniles (and their children) that sold the land to them are fighting to retrieve it; of course, this is typical of them. I suggest that you go after Auxano to get your money back without further delay, seeing that land dispute takes ages to be resolved through our legal system. You must act now!!! |
This is wishing Chief and Mrs. Earnest Obi, a happy married life. Igbo Kwenu! Isoko Waado!! Nigeria - great people, great nation!!! |
