I understand this, there is a cause to worry. My Neighbour's son was kicked out with others because their name did not appear on JAMB CAPS although his name appeared on the school's portal. Hes said it is called Fake Admission. This is happened in DELSU political science. Most state schools have this issues.
One of the reasons I'm not a fan of state universities.

Please, is there anyone who has done or knows about inter-university transfer for medical students. I'll soon be taking my first MB exam when schools resume, but I want to transfer to another university immediately after passing the MB exams to start clinicals in another school as my current university is having accreditation problems, and I believe it's best to start making moves now before its too late and one is stuck later on. I'm thinking of University of Calabar, University of Uyo, UNIBEN, uniport or any other federal university in the south.
You can make enquiries in the schools you intend to go as soon as schools resume...The process may be arduous but it's worth it.. Accreditation is something you don't joke with.

I'm not a Doctor yet, so I've limited knowledge in situation like this..It's better you take your baby back to the hospital for further evaluation... It's not life threatening but it's highly uncomfortable...Pls take that baby to the hospital.

when can the level be considered too high sir
it depends on the unit... Bilirubin level becomes too high when it's beyond 2mg/dL of blood..."Replacement blood transfusion is the next option if ultraviolet light therapy couldn't break down the Bilirubin to a larger extent...
Pls take the child to a paediatrician in any reputable institution ASAP....Pls don't joke with Jaundice, it's deadly.

I doubt if The Pharmacy Cert can be used as gateway for DE into Medicine.
it can be used.

DharmieDhrey:
Thanks Boss. Last question, I don't think one would be able to practise Pharm while in Med school. Is this true?
It's possible if you can get a locum job close to where your school is.... it's not against the law.
EducationRe: The medical students and aspirants thread by MrEgghead(m): 3:46pm On Jul 10, 2020
DharmieDhrey:
So does that imply one has to finish with Pharm and crossing to MBBS? would one be in 200L? Sorry if my questions are too much. lastly, would the degree be "retracted" after doing so?
Your Pharmacy certificate will still be valid.
you'll start from 200L as a Direct entry candidate.

DharmieDhrey:
Hello house! does UNILORIN offer Dentistry and Dental Surgery?
by the way,is it possible for one to cross from 200L Pharm to 200L BDS/MBBS via D.E
A degree is required for Direct entry...You can only transfer..I don't know how it works in Ilorin but you can always transfer from one program to another...You must have completed your Pharmacy program before D.E.

yes bro..
Let them cushion how they admit students...It's not as if the cut offs will be lower with the huge number of students they admit into Medicine every year...Many of them still enter having paid huge amount...UNN is next if the right measures are not put in place.
EducationRe: The medical students and aspirants thread by MrEgghead(m): 10:04am On Jul 10, 2020

That school needs to cushion how they admit such huge numbers abeg...Quota is not more than 50 but they will admit above 200, even 300 atimes.

I wonder why we hate ourselves this much.
What concerns COREN with top-up programs?
If the program dey pain COREN, then COREN should address the issue of discrimination na.
COREN is only after registration fees and I think they don't have to worry coz the technologists will still need to register as engineers after the program.

Useless COREN.
That's the problem with we Nigerians..We claim we want quality education and best professional practices , yet we reject move that would improve us greatly...COREN is the regulatory body of Engineering; it determines the standard of education an Engineer receives from time to time...Of what impact will the top-up bring to the graduates and nation as a whole? it's still the same mediocrity..

It's just like saying "What concerns MDCN with medical education and practice in Nigeria because we have NUC? If MDCN says No accreditation for this school, NUC's verdict is baseless and will have zero impact... That's quality and that's why Medical education is unique in Nigeria..We don't tolerate quackery and unnecessary shortcuts...If you have a PharmD degree, with all the knowledge you must have acquired, you can only start from 200L in Medical school via Direct Entry.

You guys should yearn for quality and not mediocrity in your Engineering profession....

Rogosa:
As a young boy, I dreamt of being a doctor and I nursed that dream for many years even till my university days but due to JAMB factor, I later studied biochemistry. After schooling, I got a job with a refinery where I was trained as a process operator (JOB meant for engineers) which made me fall in love with chemical engineering. If there is opportunity to study chemical engineering again, can i go for it even at 37?
I don't fill fulfilled without the an engineering certificate. What should I do?

Nothing special...I read and solved LAMLARD's biology, chemistry and physics cover to cover and for English, I read Dandy. GEJ studied BSc Zoology and became a President.

Of course, it doesn't always work that way but...

In response to the OP's last paragraph...
How many president do we produce in 20 years?
Even an unproductive dullard can become a president..Any course you don't really get to practice is useless to me...The education one will get in the course of studying those courses is fine but the course itself might be useless if you the likelihood of practising it is almost zero...

What impact will you add to the nation when you don't practice your professions. The same way some engineering dudes with their knowledge are unproductive.

Emblematic. See how lucky and smart you are.
Most aspirants don't know this stuff of changing school when it doesn't fit your narrative. See how you switched from unical to Uniport and still got what you wanted. But some aspirants ehn. No ó when when they know they are below cut off will still choose to stay in one place. Later on will come and complain that they have been looking for MBBS admission for the past 10 years.
It was just 2017 JAMB started giving opportunity to change even when post UTME registrations for schools had started..Before it ended one month after the UTME exam...It's only the smart ones that will make use of this opportunity.

Well if about 70% entered without knowing anybody then it is a bit fair. But the thing there is that uniben admission is not transparent, with the school not releasing cut off mark, news of people paying those working at the cbt to upgrade their score, or transfer them to other course.
The only dark side is not releasing 'Cut off points" officially like UI and some schools...But the truth is, if you go to admission office to ask, they will tell you...When I went there, they told me 77 for merit and I noticed all of us that crossed 77 in our WhatsApp group chat then were admitted..Not a single person was left out.. Though people still came in via catchment and Elds with few marks below that...If you beat the "purported cut off point", you'll definitely gain admission...The question is how many will beat it?
The cut off points for schools that admit based on quota are always high because of those slots set aside for the highly connected people..That's the system we find ourselves.

Uniben own is too much, fear that school.
Especially when you're affiliated with professors or Lecturers..My class has about 12 students that I know of who are sons and daughters of professors..But many of us still entered without knowing anybody..Atleast 70% of us entered without knowing anybody... Don't make it sound like if you don't have connection you can't gain admission.

must you people study medicine? that course is over rated.
some of you are doing it for ego play.
It's overrated and that's your personal opinion..
People have the right to make their choices and stick by them.. There's nothing wrong fighting for what you think will make you feel fulfilled and have high self esteem like you mentioned in your other post and NOTE, this is equally applicable in all spheres of life not only Medicine...What ever prompts one to study medicine is worth it after all because it's borne out of personal conviction...Leave the "overrated'MBBS for us, it's better than not being "rated" at all..Gracias!

militarydoctor:
so what are you insinuating br0?...I sh0uld remove Unimed out of the picture?
I didn't say that.
All you need to do is to understand the advantages and disadvantages of choosing that school.
The advantage could come in form of 'easy admission" compared to most schools because it's relatively a new institution and so many people may not have know it and you may be an indigene of Ondo state which is an added advantage..

The cons could be in form of the fees and various charges you're expected to pay as a student because it's state owned and More Importantly the accreditation status...Are you willing to bear the brunt of not graduating at the stipulated time because of accreditation? I'm not an Angel of doom but it's on record that most medical schools in Nigeria had in one time had accreditation issues and I don't think UNIMED will be different either because a lot of factors will come into play.

Delsu Medical school graduated its first set after 10 yrs, same goes to UNIABUJA, BSU, EKSU e.t.c

You have to understand all these before making your final decisions...If you can take the risk, there's no qualms but if you can't you know what to do.

I have been willing to ask this question. Does getting a Degree in Basic Medical Sciences like Pharmacology, MLS, Anatomy andPhysiology or in clinical sciences like Physiotherapy and Nursing. The reason is because I chose MLS a competitive course as well and I have read about it and i have Investigated on it and I like the laboratory practice. Is MLS a good way of starting before studying medicine OR should it be Nursing or Physiotherapy. Help because I will want to know which one will give me and edge when am done.
I also want you guys to help me clarify something on DE. I know that most candidates that are admitted from UTME but I also noticed that many of the best medical students are from DE, How true is this? I have read many articles about DE students in medical student and the feats which most UTME find it difficult to achieve even after medical school.
Please I need your help so I can change my course in time please
It's not compulsory you do MLS or any BMS courses before Medicine and that wouldn't make you a better Doctor either.. It's only time waisting..Why would you willingly study a course you don't wish to practice? it will be better you go for the course you really prefer instead of trying to wile away your time..I know you can achieve anything at any age but the earlier the better.

You're afraid you may not make Medicine and you may be thrown to another department you don't like..I'm 70% sure of that.

Be that as it may, For the sake of security, apply for any of the BMS courses and get it..
probably when you're in 100L, you can write jamb UTME again for MBBS instead of waiting for 5 years when you're not sure of even using the certificate.
We've heard enough of disgruntled JOHESU and this is exactly how they started. The ones who never had this mindset of yours among them are proud and okay with their professions.
fight for what you believe in now.

No full accreditation for MBBS yet.
you have to weigh the pros and cons before choosing that school.
