Stop DECEIVING YOURSELVES!
Pharm.D or not, you are a pharmacist and not a DOCTOR!

And to become a PhD doctor, you will be required to do a masters before PhD.

Doctor kor, nurse ni.
She knows she's not a Medical Doctor.. it's just a title just like people with Ph.Ds.

A physiotherapist can rise to this level.
In case you don't know, the Doctor of Physiotherapy programme is currently loading and before a year it would be totally set up.

Please, I would appreciate if people shed more light and insights on physiotherapy
I wonder what brings about the idea of doctor of pharmacy, doctor of Medical lab science, doctor of optometry et Al when we know they can NEVER Usurp the role of the Medical Doctors no matter their qualifications..

They just want to place themselves in same level as doctors by all means even when our MBBS/BDS are enough for us.

Oga go with dentistry and you'll be glad you did.

Thanks for the insight.
Pls, what is the annual salary of a Registered Architect at the entry level in the federal public service?
They start on CONPSS or GL 08 which amounts to #799,421 per annum.
But recently Engineering graduates level was increased to GL 09 which amounts to #929,891 per annum...

I don't know if that of architects was increased also....

You are totally ignorant of what you are saying! Please post it here and let's see it. Perhaps your own federal civil service is different from mine. Stop spreading lies oga!!
All I know is that Vets are not paid on CONMESS, they are paid on CONPSS... That's the difference or you want to tell me they are paid on CONMESS?
CareerRe: Why Do Doctors Start Federal Job On Level 12? by MrEgghead(m): 10:54am On May 28, 2020

In the Nigerian civil service, the top guys are as follows:

DVM (Doctor of Veterinary medicine) = Level 12 (6 years in school)
MBBS (Bachelor of medicine and surgery) = Level 12 (6 years in school)
BDS/Dentistry (Bachelor of dental surgery) = Level 12 (6years in school)

These are the big boys in the civil service.
That doesn't mean MBBS and DVM holders earn the same as they are paid on different salary scale....
Before Doctors started from CONMESS 2 which was equivalent to GL 12 but now it's CONMESS 3...

DVM holders in federal service are paid on CONPSS and their entry level is CONPSS 12 which amounts to #1,227,172 per annum.

But the MBBS/BDS holders at entry level are paid on CONMESS 03 which amounts to #2,642,172, there's a huge difference.

Medical Doctors and Vets do not earn same amount as they are now paid on different structures.
Don't let anyone deceive you, I have all the salary structures of federal public service with me.

Well informed than me u say?...bro I am a license health professional. The way u were confidently quoting those figures and still agueing as if ur in the system is misleading.
That's your problem.. You think you know it all...I told you a newly employed pharmacist earns 127k per month with pure evidence which I presumed you never knew and you still claim to know it all..
pls I don't have time for all these...

So with call duty allowance and hazard allowance we should be looking at 300k+ for a dress doctor then.
312k according to JOHESU where they were clamouring for increase in their pay.

Yes.

But oga, pharmacIsts earn far more than that amount sha. That amount is for interns
It's even lower than 138k I mentioned.
it's about 127K per month....The annual pay for a new employed pharmacist is #1,527,126, do the calculation.. A new pharmacist starts on CONHESS 09. For a Doctor it's #2,642,189

There are allowances they earn Sha but that's their basic salary.

Check below for a pharmacist!

God bless you Sir. Them go dey follow drag him salary like say na them dey pay person. The core civil service reward system is very poor. Most of my ogas on level 13 and 14 no get cars. Even some on level 15.
You're right.
It's only those in the health sector that earn relatively higher even at the same level.
A medical doctor (fresh) currently earns 220k and pharmacists about 138k.
Other sector workers especially the mainstream public service are only struggling, lecturers are not exempted...A new medical doctor far earns than a Ph.D other.
I've all the salary structures with me.

Guy, I am a level 12 officer, my salary is not up to 100k, after the minimum wage review oooo, initially I collect less than 80k as level 12.

I work in Federal Ministry.
The thing muzzed me...The doctors earn better in Nigeria's workforce. Their starting salary is 220K with this new minimum wage.

See this Op o, u are just in level 10 and u are saying u have gone far, even those in level 14 are porting, level 10 that is the entry level for professionals like pharmacist etc, na there u say u gone far with 80k salary?

U are not yet serious, move as fast as possible if u have the legal means or u will live to regret it forever(now this is not a threat, but a warning)

Peace.
A pharmacist even at that Level earns almost twice of what he earns because a pharmacist is paid on CONHESS salary scale.
CONHESS 9 is equivalent to GL 10 but the salary is far different.

Many schools dey that side na
Uniben dey there

Probably not uhunmwode! Because Ambrose Ali and auchi dey along that side including Edo university iyahmo
it seems they want to convert the COE in Ekiadolo to a Federal college of Education.

Hi, I believe Smartmed is reasoning from the angle of the ease of getting out of the country. It's relatively easier to leave Nigeria as a Medical Doctor than as a Dental Surgeon. This is perhaps the reason why he considers switching not necessarily because of a perceived dichotomy.

There's actually a huge difference in the cost of exams as a summarized below:
Medical Doctor
PLAB 1: £237

PLAB 2: £875

Total: £1,112 (N530,320) ; as compared with

Dentist/Dental Surgeon
ORE 1/ LDS 1: £806/ £850

ORE 2: £2,929/ £2, 940

Total: £3,735 (N 1,781,250)/ £3,790 (N1,804, 480)

Where £1= £ 476.907

Another thing, venue for the exams. PLAB1 can be written in Nigeria (Lagos, Abuja and Enugu) and even Ghana (if you don't get a seat in Nigeria or register late). PLAB2 is written at Manchester, United Kingdom.

For ORE1, the exam's venue is the King's College London. While ORE2 is written at the Eastman's Dental Institute, the Dental School affiliated to the University College London. Both parts of the LDS are written in London.

However submissions made by you and Aquilapriscilla were very pertinent.

PS: Fees covering Tickets, Visas, Hotel Bookings, Yellow fever card, NARIC statements etc were not considered.
Thanks for the insight Dr.
I can see the difference.

I am sorry to digress from the main discussion. I made a withdrawal with an Accessbank card on an Ecobank ATM. The ATM didn't disburse cash yet my account was deducted. Which bank should I log a complaint to?
The bank you use; the bank with the card.

good day docs and med student
please i want to sincerly know how possible it is for one to switch to MBBS after BDS because in my university i have never heard anybody too that path.i am almost done with BDS
ps: i also learnt relocating abroad as a dentist is way harder and expensive compared to a medical doctor
thanks in anticipation for you candid response
MBBS/BDS holders are all Doctors and are accorded the same recognition atleast in Nigeria.
I'm sure you know this but your problem seems to be 'fulfillment' which is very important also.
Well, I once heard you could do an 18 months to 2 year program in MBBS after your BDS program but I've never seen anyone who has passed that route so I can't vouch for that.
There's DE route which you'd start from 200L.
I don't believe that relocation part, it's same for everyone.

No other thing o!
That is the salary of academic staff. No Professor in Nigeria public universities earns #450,000.
When I heard a newly graduated Medical Doctor starts from GL 13 and a lecture with a ph.D starts from GL 10 ( CONUASS 3) I was shocked..To think they earn 130k muzzed me

A newly employed medical officer/ resident doctor earns #189,745 per month...That's basic salary alone o.
I can see why ASUU strikes regularly.
CareerWhy Is A Medical Doctor Placed Higher Than A Newly Employed Lecturer With A Ph.d by MrEgghead(op): 9:49pm On May 13, 2020
I recently got to know that a Doctor after NYSC is placed on CONMESS 3 which is equivalent to Grade level 13 and a newly employed Lecturer with Ph.D is placed on CONUASS 3 which is equivalent to GL 10 in the public service.

I don't think it's fair enough looking at the number of years and resources you've to sacrifice before you can bag a pH.D

Is there any explanation?

I would love to disagree but you are write. Anatomy isn't that lucrative at all except you decide to be a lecturer. I am also dissapointed because some anatomy teachings are useless compared to what students face in clinical settings.
That's why Anatomy by Keith Moore is the best for Medical students.
EducationRe: Fate Of Basic Medical Students After Graduation In Nigerian Universities by MrEgghead(m): 8:24am On May 01, 2020

Wrong ideology, what would we say of KEITH MOORE was he a MD by profession or an anatomist don't get twisted
Keith Moore as an Anatomist does not change what's obtainable in Nigeria.
They were created to distract people from Medicine and to produce lecturers to teach medical students.

It's to distract people from Medicine and to train people that can teach medical students.
