Damson22: Please doctors in the house.
Is there any difference between studying medcine in state university and federal university. In terms of employment opportunity, superiority at work, job opportunity, scholarship during the program, restriction to a particular hospital e.t.c Consultant, House officer, 500l to 600l students in the house, pls shed more light on this, may the Lord bless you all as you contribute to this topic. Dr. Lagusta and other pls There's nothing like that. MBBS has same status in all that schools have full accreditation. |

Mavinsoladele: Good day nairalanders! I am a student in ss3 and i had 292 in my jamb. Can i get admission to study medicine in uniben?? Don't get carried away by your jamb score. Make sure you study harder for the post UTME because it goes a long way to determine whether you'll be admitted or not. Do not think that score is too big for Medicine, it's NOT because if you eventually get admitted, you'll come to realize that your score will be one of the lowest in your class. Success! |

She scored 296 this year. I want to find out if this score's enough to help her cope @unilorin. I advised her to put UniJos but she's worried she had 2Bs and 3Cs in waec. I'd appreciate ur advice. Irrespective of her state of Origin, I'll advise her not to near UNILORIN of all schools and she should go with a school that conducts Post UTME exams for her to stand a better chance. I'll advise her to go with UNICAL or UNIBEN. |

horpeyemmi66: If one looks intricately into this anomaly, one would see that it's a matter of everyone high and mighty wanting a spot for their wards, children or candidates.
If the Vice Chancellor, Prof Igwe brings his candidates, the admissions officer cannot say no, same goes for other powerful persons within the UNN. Same thing happens if the Ooni of Ife who happens to be the Chancellor there brings his candidates for admission, who is the admissions officer to decline his request?. It just goes on and on.
Don't forget the admissions officer also has his own persons that have paid "honorariums" for admission.
It's the reality. It's not as though they don't know it's wrong. They, in most instances can't just help it.
If only most of them in 100L know the sword of Damocles hangs over their heads... If they loose accreditation, I wonder where those people will take their children to.....UNN will loose accreditation with time if they're not careful |

CentiLion: Spot on!Boss i came across supplementary list last year and 448 were admitted for mbbs. Over 100were admitted for merit list. The current 100lvl are more than 550 for a quota of 200 max. It is sickening. The rate at which people will be withdrawn after 100L will be too much. The funny thing is that it's only the number of students within the admission quota that will be allowed to write 2nd MBBS Professional exams. I don't know how they will do it. That UNN is becoming something else and with the number they admitted, the cut off was too high. Many people entered by paying huge amount. |

Having First Class doesn't even guarantee admissions in some courses because for those schools that don't conduct post DE the admission criteria are not well defined unlike Post UTME that you'll be given a score and that determines your admission. He must have tried DE if truly he had a degree. |

thunderfirebubu: You can serve again if you want to, only if you served before nysc became computer based registration but mind you it is against the law. Moreso you don't need the service cus your discharge certificate will cover your MB. You can apply for a job or Master's with your MB and still use your discharge certificate alongside it. Talking from experience, in my case I was shortlisted to go for service a second time but I ignored it and instead applied for Master's. Thank you. |

Hi people I'm a medical student of a federal University in Nigeria and I once studied Agric Econs.
I plan on serving as soon as I finish my first MB exam because I need funds.
Now the questions are:
Is it possible I'll serve twice since I'll be graduating before clocking 30?
Can I use the Nysc certificate I'll be given this year or next year to apply for a job as a Medical Doctor when I graduate?
Your submissions are welcomed.

To be honest with you, you've not paid the price to deserve a place in medical school. Humanly speaking, you stand no chance in any medical school in Nigeria. I'll advise you to change to a course you'll prefer if medicine is not forthcoming and you could sit for another UTME next year.
Everybody wants to study Medicine and envy doctors but they never knew the prices these people have paid.
Pay the price and MBBS will be yours. |

Health › Re: 300 Medical Consultants Withdraw Services From UCH, University Of Ibadan by MrEgghead(m): 6:32pm On Feb 27, 2020 |
SctDonald: ..Academics is different from clinical practice. What NUC is trying to do is to separate them. If you want to go into academics, then after your MBBS program.. Msc, PhD, and prof.. But if you want to go into clinical practice, then follow the normal path..,and not combining the two.. More so, NUC is trying hinder them from having multiple or at dual jobs in federal institutions.. For instance, a consultant after working for some hours in hospital, will rush to class to lecture....If this is done, it will create room for government to absorbed those that studied courses like pure Anatomy, Physiology,... etc to lecture those courses to medical students....This is what those consultants saw, and decided to embark on strike.. This might affect their salary... The most stupid and senseless comment I've seen this year. You mean graduates of Anatomy and physiology to be taking taking medical students to paediatrics, O and G, Opthalmology clinic. I'll take you for a neophyte who is grossly oblivious of his direction in life. |
Health › Re: 300 Medical Consultants Withdraw Services From UCH, University Of Ibadan by MrEgghead(m): 6:25pm On Feb 27, 2020 |
Jubilee1982: NUC should maintain their ground. Medical doctors or dentists who wish to lecture in any of these departments; medical physiology, anatomy, medical biochemistry, and medicine should obtain their Msc and PhD or restrict themselves to clinics. I salute the courage of NUC to put an end of unqualified lecturers who think that as far as they have the so called MBBS or BDS they are good to go. I use this medium to call on the Federal government to sack any doctor who will because of this NUC laudable directive embark on strike. Bros that doesn't happen in UNIBEN. Our lecturers in BMS who are MBBS/BDS holders have atleast masters and are doing their pH.Ds |
Health › Re: 300 Medical Consultants Withdraw Services From UCH, University Of Ibadan by MrEgghead(m): 6:20pm On Feb 27, 2020 |
Thonypadua: bro stop defending them, there are some MBBS that didn't go for fellow rather to choose academics after there first degree and they can not practice only to teach many of them are not collecting up to the ⅓ of those consultant. it's obvious many of you are ignorant of what medicine entails. Those people who didn't have fellow did masters and phDs in basic Medical sciences which is the norm. The training of a medical doctor is in two phases: Pre-clinical and clinical. The problem now is with the Clinical part which is where we're getting it wrong. They want them to be doing Ph.D in surgery , obstetrics , paediatrics WTF. Medicine is not every 'dick and Harry" unlike what' is obtainable in other fields in Nigeria. We apply our Knowledge into real life situations. With their useless PhDs, what have they achieved? |

RaptObserver: Na low self-esteem dey cause bleaching. But in the next decade skin cancer and other skin related diseases will be rampant. By then dark ladies will have more bfs than their "yellow" counterparts. The table will turn. Right now, if u date a gal that is fair in complexion, the chances are high that u re sharing her with other guys. Fair skinned gals re expensive and promiscuous. Though we have an exception in microscopic few. Funny enough, it's those people that hypocritically condemn bleaching that will still condemn and discriminate dark skinned people. |

BRATISLAVA: that you use the Nigerian facilities and haven't died as a result is enough testament to their ability not to make such costly mistakes. I'm referring to engineers and not your idea of graduates. It takes more than 7 years of University to be one. Human beings are different from materials... Don't bring up any childish argument.. People respond to drugs and other treatments regimen distinctively, that's why the practice of medicine is delicate.. Everywhere, errors are bound to occur but when it's as a result of negligence, it's unacceptable.. Pls don't bring up "Engineers mistakes cost thousand lives" brouhaha because we've heard several cases like that. And don't relate that to Nigerian Engineers bcuz they are practically not doing anything. |
