I personally still hope he stays. He can still be a very important player for us. And I really dont think we'll get much money for him if we sell. I reckon we'll be lucky to get £25M considering he's got 18months left of his contract. He's worth alot more than to us especially commercially. Im optimistic it will get resolved but if it doesnt, I trust SAF to keep the team challenging. Onward and upwards.

75 mil? no chance. we'll be lucky to get £40Mil. unless we're selling to man city then maybe £60M.

Yep. Major newspapers will be running with that story tomorrow morning.

Not looking good if that is the case.

Not Anderson's fault. The whole team were very poor today. Credit to West Brom as they worked harder than us and pushed us all the way even trying to play football not just lumping the ball up the pitch.

Laying this one squarely at the feet of SAF. He needs to sort it out asap.

Fantasic result last night. The one think SAF addressed this summer was making sure arent over reliant on Rooney when he's injured/off form. also very happy Berbs is stepping up.

Scholes also misses out against Valencia. This is not looking good for us so far.

This is really poor. The defensive issues are completely undermining our season. Im happy with our attack this season and I know getting goals is not an issue. But this will lead to us losing some points eventually this season. Very disappointed. Just glad we are still unbeaten. Oshea is still an issue ( along with the rest of the defense but he stood out for me as being very poor) a very big one and with Valencia away next we will be lucky to even get a point considering their amazing start to the season. SAF needs some assistance I think.

I thought it was well know that O'Shea was one of those "playing for the other team"?

Anyways, Im pretty certain that OShea is a guaranteed starter against Bolton.

Hargreaves took part in a light training session with the first team yesterday. he will be monitored for the next 6 to 8 weeks to see how he does and then they will decide if he can make a first team return.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Red Devils' Zone! by MrTA(m): 6:57pm On Sep 23, 2010
A fit Brown would take back the RB spot imo. He is a very good defender but my only issue is the same issue I have with Oshea is that when they are playing RB going forward they dont offer enough except a half decent cross once in a while.

This is why I want Rafael to get more opportunities to learn and gain the required experience to own that spot.

While I think the criticsm of MA has been very harsh. Its pretty much what is expected when you're a keeper at a big club. MA is obviously a good goalie but he is not a great one. And scapegoating will happen when your club havent won anything in 5 years.

Clubs like Arsenal shouldnt really need a great one like Cech,Casillas,Buffon but they should have a solid and reliable one like a VDS, you might not expect him to make all the great saves but you dont want him costing you points or being shaky and knocking the confidence of your defense.

So far it doesnt look like his confidence has been affected but I think Arsenal will need him to really step it up this year.

I remember how we struggling with keepers before going with VDS who we should have gone for anyways. all the Taibis,Bosnich,Carroll,Barthez. Good lord, Thank God for VDS.

It seems Bebe might play some part tonight. Owen looking to start as is Macheda, not sure about Hernandez.

I want to see the brazillian twins get more match time. Especially Rafael, I want him to get more game time at right back as I think he should be given a chance to mature and make that position his own. Fabio will be a backup for Evra.

Im pretty sure there was nothing wrong with that decision to give Oshea the yellow. It was for a foul not a goalscoring opportunity as the ball was nowhere near Torres, it went straight to VDS. It is only a straight red if the last man stopped a goalscoring opportunity. Feel free to ignore that and bitch about the decision.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Red Devils' Zone! by MrTA(m): 4:30pm On Sep 19, 2010
I always felt Evans and Oshea are the weakest links in the defense and it showed today. The sooner we get Rio back in the side the better. Im happy for Berbatov because he has endured alot of criticism (from myself included) but he has had a fantastic start to the season and long may it continue. We definitely need to get our act together in terms of holding onto leads.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Red Devils' Zone! by MrTA(m): 3:51pm On Sep 17, 2010
By all accounts, Bebe looked decent on the wing for the reserves last night. Apparently progressing quite well although still some way off joining the first team.

Some good news with regards to Owen Hargreaves.
Owen Hargreaves has made an excellent recovery from a career-threatening knee injury and could soon be back, says the knee surgeon he has been working with.

Hargreaves has not started a Manchester United game since September 2008 and many feared his career could be over.

But the renowned Dr Richard Steadman told BBC Sport: "Things are looking good for Owen, it's all worked out.

"He's close to playing fitness, although it's obviously up to United to decide when he plays a match."

Steadman, who has previously worked with Ruud van Nistelrooy, Michael Owen and Alan Shearer, operated on Hargreaves in 2009.

The 29-year-old midfielder has since made several visits to Steadman's clinic in Vale, Colorado, as he continued his recovery from the surgery.

Steadman, who rarely gives interviews, explained: "The problem was with the tendon attached to the patella on each knee, which is difficult to resolve.

"After the surgery, the key was rest and working hard on recovery. Owen has spent a lot of time with us here in Colorado and he just has such a great work ethic.

"He's never given up and we never gave up on him. The recovery was arduous and took a long time.

"But Owen is a patient patient and his condition looks promising now. You can't rush this type of injury and have to be very patient.

"He was with us a few weeks ago and is doing really well though. He was sprinting, twisting and turning."

Hargreaves was named in United's 25-man Premier League squad, but left out of their Champions League squad.

Steadman paid tribute to the work his colleague Luke O'Brien has done with the midfielder.

"Luke has a lot of experience with Major League Soccer and understands footballers and the demands placed on them.

"It's been about building the area of the knee to deal with the intense demands that will be placed on it.

"Football is all about rapid start, stop and kick. And you can't overstep the bounds with the recovery. Owen still knows not to push too far.

"We used a machine that allows you to be weightless when you run. Then gradually you can build up the weight placed on the joint."

Steadman is widely regarded as the world's leading knee surgeon and has worked with a host of Premier League footballers.

He says he particularly enjoys working with them, mainly because of their work ethic.

"I work with a variety of sportsmen and women and must say I always find the Premier League guys a pleasure to work with. They just never give up," stated Steadman.

Hargreaves secured his move from Bayern Munich to Old Trafford in July 2007 for a fee of about £17m after signing a four-year contract.
Hopefully it works out for him as I really like him as a player.

So Liverpool coming up to OT on sunday. If SAF cannot get the team ready for this then we'll have serious issues this season.

Since Valencia's season is over, Im hoping we see more of Obertan this season to see how he develops and hopefully Bebe gets ready soon enough.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: West Ham Threatens Nsofor With Half Pay by MrTA(m): 10:09am On Sep 16, 2010
I dont see the issue. he's signed a contract. If he doesnt want them to reduce his wages he has a contract that West Ham have to abide by even if they dont play him anymore they will have to fulfill that obligation. If they want to get him off the books I dont see how it wont cost the hammers substantially.

One of my main gripes was Owen coming on instead of Macheda.
Macheda could have been more of a presence in the Rangers defence than owen who is just th same as Hernandez. no presence and only usefull when you give them good service.

Well that was an awful performance. worst of the season so far. Hopefully we improve for the liverpool match.

SAF needs to sort it out. Very sad about Valencia's injury as well. Not looking good for his season now and now we're light on players. Poor Valencia.

Ibime:
Lahm is just lacking some physicality. Technically he is better than Cashley and Maicon.

As for Evra, I can't mention him in the same category as the above 3 when it comes to technique.

Statistically, Cashley would have copped more assists last season if he had played the full season. He scored more goals and he was more involved in Chelsea attacking play. I had Evra in my fantasy team throughout last season and I know that 80% of his assists were from mishit shots cos I watched him closely. Cashley still copped more goals per game, and even when he didn't assist, he was always involved in the build up to 70% of Chelseas goals. That's why Ashley is more expensive than Evra in Fantasy League. . . Cos he produces more
It seems you like being wrong. and those percentages are damned lies. anyone can bring any % to the equation to make their point. I'm pretty sure I watched both players as well very closely and that 80% of his assists were misshit shot is a very embarassing lie. I mean come on. We get it you love Ashley. Keep that in your bedroom but no need to start spouting lies.

Mishit shots. grin seriously stop it now, that's just embarrassing.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: UCL: Werder Bremen Vs Tottenham [2 - 2] On Tues, September 14th by MrTA(m): 2:34pm On Sep 14, 2010
Bremen are a very good experienced team but i dont see them doing to well today. They are missing a few keys players and I fear for them because they have Silvestre in their team. Having said that this is Spurs who are ultimate chokers away from home so you never know. Im hoping for a Bremen win but i'll never put money on this.
