NLC is saying that it is very wrong to put the CART before the HORSE , u can’t just wake up and remove subsidy without putting some cushioning effects after all you can’t beat a child and expects the child not to cry, for crying out loud oga, Nigerians are really suffering before but this subsidy of a thing has tripled the sufferings, my one cent
That palliative that we are all screaming for will lead into politician stealing our funds again.

How do you do palliative without very sound data?

You need data to tell you where and how you can reach the poorest of the poor. Nigeria needs to track employed people, where they work and how much they are earning.

Western nations that did palliative for their citizens always rely on data. They don't just pull the figure from the air!

TravelRe: Why Are APC Supporters Against Relocation (japa)? by MT:
Gerrard59:
If there is one thing I have discovered about the japa threads on Nairaland is the uniting concept behind the vocal naysayers - they support APC, Tinubu and are Agbadorians at heart. Some of them can be listed below:

Sukkot: A British citizen living somewhere in Lekki. He is constantly against people relocating to abroad, especially to the UK. He has been caught misstating facts about living in the US. Why is yet to give up his British citizenship and remain with only Nigerian citizenship is befuddling.

MT: A Nigerian-American who worked/works in the oil industry and left the country to the US. He realised he was shortchanged in Nigeria and had to leave. Today, he is at the forefront of dissuading young and ambitious Nigerians from relocating. He also supports APC.

FSBoperator2: Only God knows the bush this clown is living in when he stated, "Australia and New Zealand are fvckd beyond repair”. I strongly doubt he knows how the interior of an aircraft is before making such a statement. https://www.nairaland.com/7772646/good-morning-version-peter-obi/1#124664609 A statement even British, Swiss, Japanese and Chinese would not dare make. Someone in one bush is chanting online.

GeneralPula: Every frequent Nairalander knows this handle as one of the defenders of anything APC and Tinubu. But here is he chanting, “don’t relocate”.

Seatrade: Another one known for trading that supports anything Tinubu and APC.

Klass99: She is a fervent supporter of the Agbado-in-chief, but will write convincingly on why you should not relocate.

Don’t get me wrong, everyone has the right to support whatever party of politician. Heck, I already stated here that Peter Obi cannot win the election (https://www.nairaland.com/7225545/why-peter-obi-step-down). However, judging from the APC's actions before and after the elections, I am very wary of people who support the party and discourage japa. I am curious, why aren’t you people (APC supporters) glad that these people are leaving? Shouldn’t you be happy? Yes, they are selling their lands and houses, but are these not opportunities for you people to buy everything? Why are you people displaying witchcraft? The most annoying and cruel witchcraft are those with strong passports yet dissuade others from attempting to obtain theirs.
Waow, you are this NOT busy with your life to be keeping track of names and their records grin. You must be proud of your achievement.

Anyone that airs his opinion contrary to yours must be your enemy. I wonder the nature of people that form your inner circle wherever you are based.

You were so hurt with the "Japa thread", you hurriedly went to open another thread and link it to APC. How childish can you be?

Read wide. Pursue good education. Understand basic economics, then you will be able to interprete Government policies. Half education is horrible.

Run with whatever you like. The quality of your post daily expose how ignorant you are. A cynic, who hates anyone who doesn't share your hollow worldview.

Learn to discuss issues objectively instead of exposing your folly to the world. Respect other people's choices and views. Stop the bitterness in your heart and grow up.
CareerRe: Is Japa Worth It? by MT:
Gerrard59:
The MT man you are replying to worked in the oil industry in Nigeria and later relocated to the US, Texas specifically. This is someone who complained that he and his Nigerian colleagues were looked down upon when they were in Nigeria. He stated everything here on Nairaland. His eyes opened when he moved to the US. Thus, he is an American citizen. He would lie that having a second passport is not important, but will not consider that travelling even for the wealthy these days is not easy as visas get denied. That's where the passport comes from.

It is this hypocritical wickedness that I detest. The same man has this innate envy towards Ednut1, which I cannot comprehend. He lied through his fingers that Canadians and Mexicans cannot work in the US even though every bloke knows what a TN visa is for. The same man believes Ednut1 dey wash corpses in Canada. Worst of it, the same MT man campaigned and supported Tinubu during the last elections.

In my books, anyone who supported Tinubu is a wicked and terrible person considering the events before and after the elections.
Sorry to burst your bubble, you have mixed me up with another person.

I have neither claimed to work in the oil industry ever nor claimed to live in Texas. I have only gone as far as to state that I work in an IT industry with many years experience, and I have contributed in the IT section multiple times..

I won't come to a public platform to gloat over my experience abroad. If you are a lapdog to the person you mentioned, you are free to, our conversation took a particular trajectory and I exposed the person's inconsistencies few years ago.

So, instead of holding on to bitterness for many years, why don't you walk past when you see my post ?. You don't need to rebut whatever I say, instead of mixing me up with another person in order to drive home your false claim. My posts are there for you to reference, go and quote where I stated any of your claim.

I never claimed that going abroad is bad. I never claimed that having a foreign passport is bad. There is a caveat to each case and individual's cases are never the same. Anyone that says anything differently from the view you hold must be your enemy. I don't paint life with a broad brush, like you are doing

And regarding the TN visa, I have so much going on for me than to relitigate the past. Believe whatever suits you, your cup of tea.

I won't reveal my identity here to claim a cheap propaganda. Knowledge is profitable to direct.

So, if we see any good policy by this current administration, we should not say it so as not to offend the god that you are. Be open minded and accommodate other people's views, mister. That's the way you grow and not live in bitterness throughout your day on earth.

I'm still pleasantly amused that you take life on public platform this serious to be bitter over a thread of years past. I don't even recognize your existence on this platform. How do you treat people around you if you are this bitter to someone you have never seen or met? You have a lot of growing up to do. Everyone is a crocodile on public domain whereas they are ants in real life. Grow up, son.

PS: Shockingly this dude went to open another thread and linked our discourse here to.a political party. How divisive, ignorant and childish can @Gerrard 59 be? How low can he sink over a simple discourse? (https://www.nairaland.com/7778685/why-apc-supporters-against-relocation#124666825)

We have sought after skills bro, a lot of Nigerians have it. Infact there is surplus of skillful people in Nigeria with no companies to hire.
You are kidding me. You only assume.

Our education system does not shape people to be skillful in Nigeria. I have been on a panel to recruit many times, it was such a disaster.

That is why most of Nigerians that travel abroad struggle to fit in the Universities they attend because the questions are scenario-based, which is close to real life situation. Do you know how many Nigeria students outsource their assignment to other people to solve for them.

There are skilled people in Nigeria but they are in minority, don't be deceived.

I am out of here.

There are so many people with skills who are looking for jobs and not able to get because they don't have right to work. Nigeria has a lot of skillful people. Skills has never been our problem
and there are lot of people with foreign passport, including citizens born over there, who have zero skills and could not secure meaningful jobs. Some of them are homeless and jobless, living on hands out from the government.

When you have the passport, try and acquire the sought-after skills, otherwise it is a waste.

At the bolded, what you referred to as skills are not sellable abroad. We are talking of sought-after skills.

You need right to work to be able to work which having a passport gives you.
I have mentioned this when I wrote it allows you live "legally", but the kind of work you will do solely depends on your "skillset".

Reason I referred to a foreign passport as a "mean to an end" and "not the end" itself.

What about foreign passport? Did you just travel because money alone. So if I give you a job of £3k now, you will leave and come back?! cheesy
Nigerians overhype foreign passport - It is a means to an end, not the end itself.

Foreign passport does not give you job. It does not feed you. It is a traveling document, which also allow you to stay legally in that country.

Without good "value" or "skillset", foreign passport holders will be homeless, and go hungry.

If you have fixed deposit, treasury bills, bonds or even cash in your saving account, you will earn more interest.

If you want to borrow money from bank, you will pay more interest.

Determine the side of the divide you want to be by yourself.

What!

How do you intend to cool the economy. Now it becomes more expensive to borrow money, consumers will definitely refrain from making purchases and spending reduces. Yet fuel price is alarming.

This rate hike won't bring down pump price, will it?
Hike in interest rate is a 2-edged sword. You are focused on one part.

CBN is currently using it to control inflation. Trying to mop up excess liquidity from the economy.

FG is not involved in pump price again. The market is deregulated and market forces are determining the price.

What do you think about the tech Industry for someone who's just starting?

Do you think AI will replace tech guys?

I have asked this question a thousand times and anytime I see someone post something like that on Twitter, it sparks my anxiety.
I read an article yesterday, and if i still see it, i will post it here.

The future is that AI will replace all jobs, even the ones that involve emotions. However, it is still a long years ahead, so go into tech and still make your cash, if you are good at it. Humans wont work again, machines will be working for them. How the government will sustain that, I do not know. But that was what I read in one of the articles in the US.
CareerRe: Is Japa Worth It? by MT:
Op, lastly consider where the advice is coming from.

Abroad is a step up for most people that have travelled; I meant Individuals that couldn't even get a visitor's visa to any country on a norm. Individuals that were roaming about in Nigeria doing nothing before they managed to squeeze through. Of course, getting to abroad, wearing leather jacket, snapping pictures with whites at the background will be the ultimate for such.

Conversely, think about individuals in the same league as you, their perspectives will be different. Their definition of success will be top notch and not premised on frivolities.

What are the qualities of those whites that some individuals mix with over there. Most of these white are not educated, not skilled or exposed. They are mostly the worst of the whites. You will see a skilled, educated Nigerian snapping pictures with such individuals, and still feeling on top of the world, simply because they are both working in a factory. You will see such pictures littering their Facebook pages.

Your skills dictate to you that you should live differently than this. You should roll with the best of the whites, which you are currently enjoying remotely.

Op, ask again, what quality of individuals are advising you. Iron should sharpeneth iron.

Enough said

Cuz even a rich man kid for naija sef dey try japa...
Op, many people use kids to console themselves after they have seen how miserable they have become abroad.

Kids have their lives, you have yours. How many parents can even afford the good private schools abroad?. How many percentage of our kids are in grammar school abroad?. Most schools that Nigerian kids attend abroad are far below average but the parents don't even know in as much as there are white kids attending same schools.

How many parents can eat in good restaurants with their kids? How many parents can even afford to travel with their families to other countries for vacationing? Most Nigeria families abroad do not even enjoy the goodies of life abroad, they can only look at them but can't afford to pay to experience them.

Don't get tripped by "I am doing this for my kids" scheme.
CareerRe: Is Japa Worth It? by MT: 12:30pm On Jul 25, 2023
You are already enjoying the best of the two worlds. You are earning what others over there can only dream of, yet you live in an environment that is not overly regulated by government, which means your expenditure is minimal.

Abroad has peaked. With your skillet in Nigeria, you can also identify a particular area in Nigeria and automate it. Use the banks as a leverage for your Fintech idea and start making lot of money.

But if you insist you must go, aside vacationing, I suspect you will soon open another thread of lamentations of Jeremiah.
