More Bamoun. i love the bamoun traditional architecture. They clearly understood the door lintel and the role of the column in spreading loads to the ground.

The French had to chop off the nose of the sphinx, it was too african for their liking. Op, you have the 2 conical huts labelled East Africa. I dont recognise from which part, please elaborate. |

OreMI22:You sir have fallen into a trap most posters on this thread have fallen into viz. posting an endless stream of physical development, that has been falsely construed to be the only form of development. I also thought you would fall into the 'Lagos GDP is bigger than kenya and ghana combined' trap. My take on this thread is that alot of nigerians are surprised and taken aback by the response of kenyans. My personal life experience is that alot of nigerians in other african countries love rubbishing everything about their hosts and constantly compare the place with back home, and with that, you haven't disappointed. Kenyans are also quite guilty of this too. I was once in the cities of Windhoek, Namibia and Harare,Zimbabwe and i can assure you both are far far more livable and peaceful than Nairobi and i had to tell of my fellow kenyans who tried to downgrade those cities because their service delivery left alot to admire especially in Windhoek. You sir, need to travel to Africa and see for yourself the real state of things is NOT uniform . Alot of things work in alot of african countries, its just that good stories about africa don't sell. Go see the good work that Botswana govt has dobe for the social upliftment of its citizens- where else apart from SA and Gaddaffis Libya would govt give monthly stipend to its most vulnerable citizens, not to mention functioning health systems. Most of Equatorial africa is a mess though, and this has got everything to do with them having govts that are just sales offices of western capital and not their citizens representative. However, i can assure you alot of kenya is changing, and the sentiment here is bullish. This is due to a massive construction boom changing the face of the country and people's fortunes. The place you saw in 2009 is not the same now. What you need to address is REAL development. What is your take on the comparative state between the two countries mentioned in this thread on known development indicators : Access to primary health care, child and maternal mortality, productivity, access to clean water, access to sanitation, access to electricity, life expectancy, life expectancy at birth(how many kids survive to age 5), security, access to formal education, prevalence of preventable diseases, etc etc That's what we should be discussing here. |
arinzeejikonye:Really?! Is all this English necessary? I once met a nigerian not too long ago, who told me a surefire way to tell an igbo apart from other nigerians is when they launch into a tirade of quick, incomprehensible, jibberish, feverish and unnecessary outbursts of language. Especially when agitated. are you an igbo bro? |
I am a 2.year old. I have been on nairaland for about that long as well. Somebody please take me through the process of understanding how the nigerian mind works. Keep in mind the following: 1. How is this family drama in a far off place of any value to nigerians? 2. How is this even FP material? 3. Why do idle nigerians troll gossip sites from kenya and not even have the common courtesy to quote the original article? 4. Does this increase the Gross Happiness Index of anybody, anywhere? 5. Does this news make you eat more garri or get more fuel for your generator? 6. What is this obsession with kenya? Why doesnt Central African Republic,Gabon or Burundi feature more often in this endless desire by your bloggers(a misnomer, lol) to relentlessly destroy the image of another african country? I tire. I should look 27 at 27 and not 72 at 27. |
iblawi:Standard Chartered is NOT a major in kenyan banking industry. The big 4 boys are Equity Bank, Kenya Commercial Bank(KCB), Family Bank and Cooperative Bank. 99% of the people i know have an account with one of these. Standard Chartered doesnt come even close to the range of products these banks offer. Get that. And get it right. |
Like seriously!!! hahaha where are the kenyans? Its like eating yam without palm oil. Try again! |
TayserMahiri:Great one TayserMahiri Fidha254 and others on the lie about kenya being less banked than others. Repeating a lie doesnt a fact make. Thanks guys. You also didnt mention the agent banking phenomenon which renders visiting a bank for deposits/withdrawals even more meaningless, talk less of banking apps/mobile money. As per my earlier ,and as yet unanswered query, how does the average nigerian living in a town of any size worth mentioning get water into his/her tap? Where does it come from? Also, i would like to know the situation regarding sanitation viz. is there treatment of wastewater etc? Serious responders only, thanks. |
texazzpete:Sir, you must be a medic. Am i right? |
Naija4Fatality:Rubbish analysis! Based on what 'statistics'? |
kikuyu1:Add south sudanese to the list of arrogant foreigners who insult their hosts, yet they have absolutely nothing back home. I especially dislike the Somalis who are full of BS on an epic scale! Imagine someone called Abdi Ogle calling you ugly! hehehe Just in case you didnt know, they call kenya africans nywele ngumu. |
whywhyogun:Really ? You just get random picture and arrogantly declare it to be kenya? Dont make us give you real proof of nigerian ladies in parks all over italian cities! You guys export sex tourists aka ashawo all over the place! |
America!! Everything about the foundation of America is about buying or outright stealing of land. If Only america remained amongst the 13 original colonies, Africans would probably be lecturing them on human rights and sending missionaries and humanitarian aid! Buy buy buy ! The americans had to buy the following states from Emperor Napoleon of France. Yes ,the bone apart emperor!! Arkansas Missouri Iowa Oklahoma Kansas Nebraska Minnesota North Dakota South Dakota New Mexico Texas Montana Wyoming Colorado Louisiana. Oh boy! Plus the southern portions of two Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta! Money buys everything in America, even territory. And when sale of all these states by Napoleon to America happened, half of the population of these territories were african slaves! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisiana_Purchase

He wants to swim with a great white?!?! Oyinbo people!! He better not have a small cut anywhere on him, great whites smell blood in the water from very many miles away. They just understand meat and blood, not English |
Lord help that man recover!!! On a serious note however, many tourists from western countries are very notorious for ignoring advice from tour guides or knowledgeable locals. I have studied this phenomenon for a long time and i have come to the conclusion that they tend to do so because most of them have an implicit bias against black people, and Don't consider their wise counsel to be worth anything because they treat their own black citizens with contempt, and carry over The same attitudes when they travel to africa. It could also be naivete ,because most of their rivers and lakes lack predators(well apart from alligators in Florida), and they also foolishly assume african lakes and rivers are the same as their own. They even ignore warnings about them being susceptible to water borne diseases like bilharzia, which they have no natural immunity against. Heed advice, its free like the air we breathe. May he recover now, ah ah ! |
Explorers:Alot of people may not know this but the adoption of the cross as the pre eminent symbol of christianity owes alot to Egyptian religious practice in the late antiquity period when the founders of the faith lived. Observe that all of those egyptian gods holding an object in the left hand. That object is called an ankh The ankh was the symbol of divinity in ancient Egypt. That christ died on a cross and his divine nature and awe being widely known, and also the notion of a single supreme almighty being being popular since the times of the (heretic!) pharaoh Akhenaten ,proved to be a major factor in the adoption of xtianity amongst egyptians in the roman empire in the early years. The egyptians were the first amongst the many nations in the roman empire to adopt xtianity en masse, and its connection to the symbolism represented by the ankh and cross has not escaped the attention of curious scholars. |
How can God allow so much rubbish to dwell in the head of one man? The God i know is merciful, HE wouldn't allow that. TOTAL RUBBISH!!!!! |
i dont have to. i know all kenyan tribes. fake news peddler, you. |
This is more than 10 years old. Please be factual and current. Upgrade yourself |
uckennety:Explorers said very clearly Bodi tribe from ethiopia.Which is this 'malu' tribe? |
Pidgin2:I cant hear you well, there must be too much generator noise on your side. Take care of the fumes, deadly for infants and toddlers. |
Pidgin2:epic fail on all accounts. Get a serious hobby and let us advice this lady with facts. |
Pidgin2:Nairobi has always been attractive to expats. Plenty of your young countrymen/women studying here too. Good weather. No nonsense people who dislike crime. And we dont kidnap oyinbos for ransom. Stable currency. Religious tolerance. Working public utilities. So hell yes, Nairobi/ Mombasa/Kisumu/Nakuru/Eldoret anyday over Lagos or Abuja anyday. |
Asunke001:perhaps you could ask more pointed questions on all you need to know will be answered by a native or a long term resident like pavore. For instance what ages are the kids? What kind of housing (rentwise) are you looking for and is it commensurate with your hubbys status? What do you guys eat in switzerland: european food or african food? What are your social interests? Are you xtian or muslim? which xtian denomination? And clear the air on the allegation from some poster above regarding your perceived 'drug dealing' or other shady status you might/might not have.9jans dont have a good rep(sadly), and i have met more upright ones than slippery ones. Danke viel. |
And why am i not shocked. Fashion industry and exploitation ,always been close buddies. |
