Lukaku may issue his own statement too. Lol Idk, but saw Del Bruyne and I think he was a good chap. Wasn't too happy he was going out on loan so soon. |

May I add that you include a poll to this topic too. |
Can you please include some options in your questionnaire? Remember we have 3 major tribes and over 300 still. |
It's the answer to your own unproven 'hypothesis', imagination or suggestion. Moreover, it's proven that Nigerians like responding to a question with another question - the reason why we have a thread dedicated to that under the FORUM GAMES. So, dear how did you prove your 'thought' not wrong? |
Bros, if you know me personally, pretty much do not care (if you know what I mean #NotBeingRude)!!! I don't (or try not to) fall victim to PREJUDICE but one disadvantage I know of writing is the tendency to be miscontrued. I should've added a caveat to that post of mine but you see, as far as my conscience is clear, there's nothing I can do to 'prove' myself. I tried not to respond to your last post (so you don't take it personal too) especially when I remember you were in the other thread that made some call his 'class' to doubt. Judging from his IJMB in 2009 et al, I deduced that he could've passed out this year. Getting admitted in '09 should make you a 300L student save for DE. You see, don't always see questioning or fact-finding as PHD (Pull Him/Her Down) or 'whining'; and even when you suspect that's the case, act maturely behind the device - at the end the fellow makes a fool outta him/herself. Apologies if my motives have been seen as sinister; I'm a user of the IGNORE APP if I know I got nothing tangible to contribute to someone's enquiry, so enough digression, the poster indeed graduated with a 1st class. Moderator would do well to refer him to the O&G thread. All the same, I don't like us decieving ourselves. When a thread is opened, different issues emanate from it (OP's other thread) and members discuss on this. Am not proud to see a graduate making a 'mockery' (for lack of a better word) of our educational system. The career section expects some 'generally accepted posting standards'. Peace |
The Man U story is a familiar tale iGuess. Man city beware. |
I just think that if you are a writer, part of your goal should be as clear as possible to your audience. Using reasonable punctuation, indentation and proper English isn't "forming." It simply makes it easier for your readers to understand you.
Thank you very much. Seems we like running away from the truth. When we keep on giving excuses for what's not, the effect still 'karma-slaps' us. What is worth doing should be done reasonably well at least. I'd imagine that a large percentage of users went to high school so it's disappointing when some people write in twitter language here. It's the same way radio presenters admonish listeners to send their messages in such a way that everyone can be carried along and your message is not miscontrued. It's hurting to some of us eyes when we can't decode some 'languages'. Finally, whilst correction of errors should be encouraged, the 'corrector' insulting the 'corectee' is childish IMO. P.S. Btw, there's a modify button to click on to edit your posts to help others understand. |

I learnt the last set finished July. Often times, we try mixing the bitter truth with condemnation when no one gives a d**n about your personal (real) life. The OP has not made so many posts yet so his history is not hard to even dig through. I'd be shocked if writing good english is seen as 'bad belle' for a supposed graduate of a higher institution, looking for excuses will be a camouflage of deception sincerely. There's another post where someone here told us not to expect any good english language from UNILORIN maths guys. Don't just jump in the bandwagon of "everybody join" as espoused in the other thread. If they don't criticise you (rightly/wrongly so), you'd live in the fallacy of near-perfection. I don't wanna start my own super story series on bad beginnings, first class stories etc that I also know personally but don't forget, first impression does count. It's not really everyone's business to know your personal history (which I strongly recommend not) on online forums. It's what you put to the table that's dissected. Whatever the case, no one can shove his/her advice down the throat of anyone. The responsibilty lies on any adult to separate the wheat from the chaff. |

"On hearing this, Mr Lagbaja asked to speak to the Manager. The gateman who felt he was doing his job, insisted that there was no point in seeing the Manager because the rules should not be bent." I like the viewpoints of the last 3 comments. The keyword here is FELT. He has exercised discretion and whether this discretion was beyond the scope of his responsibilities is the koko. His feeling according to him was very much related to the rules. So, I'd say he followed laid-down procedures even if the consequences were +ve/-ve. However, it remains to be seen from the case study if the coy rules linked parking of cars to contacting any personnel. Is granting meeting or contact requests the gateman's job? |

orisebawo: My advice is to go for ACCA if that is your goal, 21 years isn't young to start ACCA and besides instead of spending 3 yrs on CAT you might as well spend it studying ACCA.I do not agree with this. CAT is just like ATS of ICAN and when done with it, you are exempted from taking F1 - F3. You can complete your CAT exams in 3 diets - 1.5 years and professional accountancy is surely not a race, so you need to know why you're in it (another reason for disagreeing with the 'losing steam' stuff). 21 is the minimum age to commence the programme if you have no other relevant qualification but I can assure you CAT is a SOLID FOUNDATION for you and it'll definitely help you when you transfer to the ACCA scheme. It's your 'sharp sharp' or misinformation that'll only prevent you from benefitting from this. Though you may be 22 now but just wanna correct that opinion. Some adults who don't have a good background could also register for it instead of spending 5 years tryna get past the first 3 papers of ACCA (lose steam?). BTW, for the 2 exams, consider the funding of your study for any of the exams. |
Dude, that's your opinion. Comparing AIT and NTA is utterly gross. How can you judge a TV station by just a slot among several? It's simple, leave Kaakaki alone and watch Focus Nigeria or is Gbenga Arulegba a "5th graders reminiscent of kidivision 101 of those days"
true!!!Truth remains that he who pays the piper dictates the tune. I'd still watch AIT instead of NTA. Most media organisations have to go the way of their investors. They can only try not to be obviously bias. Even when AIT wan do partial, dem go still do am small but NTA's own is well, not their fault - na FG kuku get am nau! |
AjanleKoko: But regarding the case study, it's safer to go rule-based for lower-cadre staff. Expecting them to use their initiative is usually a recipe for disaster.Good point. That should kill the 'discretion' debate. AjanleKoko: In fact, if you receive N50m cash onsite at your business, you're even creating a security risk for yourself. The author bin wan do us Tales By Moonlight. Even persin brother sef no go wan tell u say dat kain money come him coy like dat. Penkeleemeesi |
tampa1871: We have many Nigerian University Graduates driving Taxis in America, even people with Masters Degrees, why not in Nigeria? When hunger wire dem, dem go find something do. Still doesn't exclude the fact that some of these jobs are 'misfits' for their education. I understand the point of not looking down on some things we think are 'menial' but if your discipline or knowledge can't be properly applied to an area or job, e no make sense. Except opportunities are extremely minute and you lack a career path, this is not the kinda job to 'build' a career in. I consider it a temporary job (to keep body and soul together) and a pathway to get something better. You just enjoy the experience while it lasts. |
Saw this story on Jobberman's page. But abeg park small o, make gateman sue ke? Nibo lo ti ma rowo? (Where will he see the money?) Considering he's at the lower cadre and has violated no 'term of contract', sacking that guy based on his discretion was extreme IMO. As fictional as this story could 1% likely occur, one "what-if" analysis is "what if the dude that was denied entry came with criminal intent?" Security guards do use their judgement sometimes to override control procedures but the deal remains that control has its purpose and trust should be assumed to be zero. Well, the rules-based vs principles-based debate goes on. |
its all about marketing.
And it's more of strategy!!! heheheh AjanleKoko: I suspect this thread is an attempt by the OP to blame some company for something that has happened to him.AjanleKokoCtopus. And it did go the way of the 'affected employees'. iGuess students would always lash out at lecturers until they become one themselves - forgive my weak analogy. ![]() |
AjanleKoko: Bros.18Likes mahn! This thread is the funniest I ever read on this section especially when the OP's 1st class is called into question (digging from his other thread) and how if man no know, he would've convinced man say na English just be him problem. Whilst, science fellas do struggle with English language, I strongly disagree that it gets to a stage of 'struggling' to construct simple terms - we need to remember that your mathematics knowledge is kinda &*^^ if you can't communicate effectively. Makes me remember a lady who went for a conference with guys from different disciplines only to express her disgust at everyone using 'big big' terms and really not getting any message to participants. I like the part of spanking Messrs Ajanlekoko, it's unfortunate some/most (depending on the statistics) youths have their orientation skewed and I observe this is largely due to the ineffectiveness or absence of G&C from high schools to universities. I get worried when some can't write well on facebook for example even if you're not graded there. Perhaps, that's why twitter has more ffs (maybe it's for those who "wryt lyk ds" ).Methinks, we need to kill off this 'slave mentality' affecting many of us here. Truth is, we sometimes don't know why we went to school. Stop succumbing to the mugunness that the oyibo's own is always better - I don't want to be miscontrued o but what the world needs are solutions and you're simply a 'tool' to make their engines work. Your certificate is like a manual that is not read if you can't deliver. As usual, my mantra has always been that you make the best use of what you got (and never limit yourself to just your discipline) - most schools of thought are interwoven in one way or the other. Thanks to everyone here for making my day. P.S. Aja, I'd PM you lera. Need you lera.. ![]() |
Hehehehe Someone once said that if you want to test your popularity, try contesting for any public office and people would tell the story of your preconception sef! @OP there's something called Ctrl+H beware! |
Jarus: No. ACA is ACA, no matter the route.@Maximus17 Methinks he meant BSc holders for example who were exempted from taking the ATS exams. What you should know is that those who are/were exempted are exempted from taking ATS 'cos in school, they're expected to have covered what is covered in the syllabus in their respective (accredited) higher institutions. |
yamakuza: ^ and why do you think the Career section is the best place for this topic? Pray tell.'cos moderators wanna make a career outta moderation? Does @yamakuza have a 'career' here? |
koastar: On the issue the poster raised about including personal information like date of birth, I have heard some HR saying it has to be included even when it is not requested. The HR person further said a CV without date of birth is assumed that the applicant is above a considerable age and he's trying to hide it. All these cause confusion and I think if there is no universal standard, applicants should study the organization he/she is applying to and comform to their standard. dazzy4real: @poster I was surprised when I read the part of age not being compulsory when I thought 'twas no. 1Different flakes for different folks I guess but I don't think there can be universal standards, maybe 'generally accepted resume principles'; we need to realise that each organisation has its peculiar needs from applicants so try to tailor your resume to the REQUIREMENTS they advertised.- Some people have suggested having multiple CVs which is quite reasonable so that the CV you send to an employer completely matches (most of) what the employer wants from you. As for age, I know a school of thought that doesn't deem it compulsory. Sometimes, the age could be estimated when your education profile is seen but if the age requirement is stated, just put your DOB there for (except you're the 'special one') HR may not bother calling to confirm. Ditto, marital status (the job could require someone who travels alot). |
