iBelieve in principles. If you don't stand for something, you'd fall for anything. The affected person's personal beliefs and moral values are what's most important here. Your conscience is that part of you that doesn't feel right when other parts are otherwise. Everyone's got what freaks them in this world while some wanna protect their names. To save being called a preacher's son, it's a very simple matter - do what suits your conscience. PS. ''Honesty may be called old fashioned these days but it remains the key to lasting and worthwhile success'' ![]() |
tanimola22: does this work? TeskyMan: This guy is darm funny....... Does they work ko, does they work ni.... Gmyguy..thanks for the hilarious response. gmyguy: they does not work if you spoke like thos
Nothing is as funny as a DAMN funny response to another person's typo. Yep!
iLike the transition. Hahahhah I'm more interested in the workability in Nigeria. When you've got some coys that find it hard to 'sieve' through hard copies of CVs, it may be better to uplad yours on Youtube than send to them. However, if you have the privilege of knowing how the coy's HR or recruiting agency works, then it's worth the while. One 'disadvantage' is how it gives the viewer the ease of prejudice so like it was earlier posted, if you're gonna do it, you gatz to do it purrrfffeeectly!!! |
People on the forum have different interests. If you're not interested, simply opt out. There really is no compulsion in responding to every topic/post. |
aryzgreat: The boldened is utter gibberish! u took a lane from a 4 lane road and turn it to market and in addition u build mosque without govt consent and u want govt to build anoda for u bc u are a special specie of human being or wot? Do u have brain at all? wot did d govt build for major transporters dat wia displaced from dia park due to d reclamation of the road? wot about shops? or u think u ppl can intimidate ur fada with boko haram? Let them renew their attack or bring it closer to east so we can settle this score once and for all and evry damn cow will answer his papa name! mental slow set of bush animals! :Wow. I've tried to deduce your 'points' from the truckload of insults. One reason I've limited my responses is when guys (others prefer to refer to them as kids) press the 'i-Insult' button to make a 'point'. I wrote that if documents were properly obtained by the same state government, then it'd amount to injustice for the ANSG to carry out the action. What's the nexus between that and "attack"? Where was it stated that the markets et al were illegally built? D'you work in the ministry? iHiss. It's usually people who call for 'war' that are the first to run away when it eventually answers your call. Pathetic! |
I've done a research on both and whilst both of them are legally recognised by acts (ANAN was formerly a decree though) both bodies are never exhausted in the supremacy battle. ICAN was founded before ANAN and both bodies have "literally been sworn enemies". The coming up of any 'rival' body is usually seen as a threat to ICAN's dominance. Well, iRemember ACCA also had similar issues with ICAEW in UK. A former president of ANAN once said "I don't share the view that they (ICAN) are better than us" while ICAN prayed to a Federal High Court in 2007 to set aside the ANAN decree of 1993. It's wrong to judge them as 'frustrated graduates' for the peculiarity of becoming an ANAN members requires the candidates to be graduates (ANAN considers ICAN's prerequisites as lax) who must also enroll in the institute's college and proceed for a programme called Accountancy-In-Training. Before 1993, only ICAN members were legally regared as auditors. Am however a follower of the dogma of "making the best use of what you got". Once students begin or enroll for a professional exam, they begin to question its supposed worth, popularity and the likes. Being a member of a professional body does not "imply (in)directly that superior performance can be expected from such person". The bodies have different processes and while everyone is entitled to his/her opinion on which they think is better, I don't support limiting access to education. Whichever one finds convenient, let it suit him/her. For example, I'd rather a sit-at-home UTME candidate or a medical doctor/ graduate engineer who has the interest enroll for ICAN exams while my brother may prefer 'strictly accountants' for ANAN. |
abdurrazaq: To those who believe that (we) the Yorubas are not “real muslims“, there is a sentence we recite during salat - Semi‘a LLAHU limon hamidaHU - meaning ‘Only GOD knows HIS true worshipper‘. (We) the Yorubas are the pride of Islam in Nigeria and Africa.“Sami Allahu Liman Hamidah" recited when muslims offer salat (at the Ruku' stage) means "Allah listens to those who praise Him". Like someone else posted, we are fond of being ethnocentric - a true muslim is a true muslim irrespective of whether s/he's of Russian descent or South African descent. ismhab: That is not the translation of what u wrote, be careful in translating what u don't know.Correct. But you should have corrected him if you knew the meaning. No harm in enlightenment ![]() rhymz: o boy see warning o. . What are you goina do next? Draw out your dagger and prolly slit his throat open if he goes further to interprete the Koran contrary to your own understanding abi?Statements like this warrant a thousand 'SMHs'. Like someone else posted, religious intolerance is a major problem in this country added with ethnic bigotry. For example, how does the leader's statement on resisiting the government's action translate into a violent statement? When Lekki residents protested the toll gate -ish, did they automatically become violent people or what? It's very funny how some people want to equate by all means Islam to terrorism. Perhaps, they want a My-Name-Is-Khan-like "My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist" written on the forehead of muslims. Some who even call for war don't even know what it means and think it'd be akin to calling 911 when it starts while others realise not that some muslims went to missionary & catholic schools and vice-versa. Unfortunately, this generation knows little about each other's religion which is why most people are so keen on their religion's 'supremacy' over the other whilst contradicting their holy books - it's little wonder you have careless statements like "72 virgins" and the likes which are illogical. Anyway, "the hypocrite looks for faults, the believer looks for excuses" appears to what reigns on this thread. On the topic, this is one -ish our governments seem to have - failure to carry people along. They just come out with statements and actions like we were in the military era. That's also one reason why the subsidy protest broke out. Our governments always behave like rulers instead of consulting with their electorates. The state government has failed to give pertinent reasons and alternatives for its action and all that the news source has stated remain speculations and I can't point out an official reason. Everyone is just drawing their own conclusions from the little story. Curiously, if proper documents were obtained from the same state government to build on that location, how did it suddenly become illegal? If the state government has found it wise enough to review their urban masterplan, then it's not out of place to compensate them - the same reason why some people want another one to be built before the former is demolished. |
I'm not opposed to Jarus' suggestion but I find myself aligning with the first comment on that site by a certain 'Mustapha' as regards 'wordly enjoyment'. How d'you use the network of muslims to assist the man who wants to go to school? That is priority to me - that man's education. |
komek: I believe any post that comes τ̅☺ the FP has. a reason.pls we shud know thatStill sorry for digressing, but thanks. Methinks that aspect of alotta kids on NL is valid 'cos '06 - '09, this was never an issue as matured minds had the app called 'iIgnore' if not interested in a topic. A front page topic keeps going down so what's this fuss like the NL front page is a newspaper. Phew! |
If Yoruba Muslims had 25 children per household, I'm sure that it would have been documented. His initial post stated that "ALMOST ALL" the YORUBA muslims he'd encountered had 25 children, how foolish was that? Polygamy is not strictly a Yoruba Muslim affair. . . . it's a Nigerian affair. If Ngodigha1 wasn't as ignorant as he denies, he'd know that religion has nothing to do with polygamy in the Yoruba culture.
iLike when people 'clarify' issues when ignorance rears its ugly head. |
walcolm: google trader is supposed to be for commerce (buying and selling)...if you go there to look for job, you're asking to be dupediWonder o! When did people start trading jobs? Anyway @topic, that' why it's the INTERNET! One should be vigilant not to be a maga. |
ikechukz: This is 2012.didn't know people still fall for these scamsAs in like, seriously!!! You give 45k to get 3k, that's net 42k. |
One thing 'iFear' is to speak with some personnel who doesn't really have an idea or knowledge about the issue iCalled for. Based on the 3 I've encountered, I'd say the 'best' 3 are - 1. Airtel 2. Etisalat 3. Glo Before the Indians took over, one would've easliy given it to Zain (now Airtel). The -ish with Glo is how much they love customers visiting their Glo outlet(s) for issues. It takes at leat 15 minutes before the agent picks your call for Glo and Etisalat is about 9 - 12 mins. Whilst noting that these guys are human, iBelieve they are trained to do their job and hence, should avoid their personal brouhaha conflicting with their work. |
tanimola22: Between 0-10 years. On the average, I think 3 years.AHAN. you wicked o. A decade? That's something else o |
fmanf: Pls house, which one is the professional course for management. When NIM is usesless.Like it had been written earlier, if you want to follow the 'useless' slogan, do so but what seems so confuse candidates of student members of these bodies is their thinking that a particular affiliation would guarantee automatic placement into a vacant position. No matter the professional exams you do, I bet you'll still see this 'relevancy' issue of the course or 'is ICAN better than this or that'. The 'koko' is the knowledge garnered and how well you are able to apply it in your field or along your job experiences. Don't ever disregard the importance of 'knowing' something 'cos you'd be marvelled at how it looks so spectacular when you're applying it to people who know not it. Methinks this issue also stems from our Unis where students are mostly interested in the theories so they can just pass. In light of the circumstance of an NYSC member and NIM, I'd still term it a 'nothing to lose' programme to engage yourself in whilst serving and is definitely not worthless. |

canuck: Poof! There goes all Airtel subscribers who are Chelsea, Man U, Man City, Spurs, etc fans!I suppose this is a joke. Etisalat has a deal with Barçelona and they go on to advertise on billboards + promos. This is just a business deal. |
Artistes do associate themselves with politics - some of them write, sing etc about social issues, politics etc. It's a matter of choice. Banky W is a 'youth' who wants to use his 'fame' to affect the lives of youth. He's a member of the COSON and participated in the #Vote4change (or whatever they called it that encouraged Nigerians to vote wisely) during the last election and he also participated in the #occupyNaija protest. I'm not interested in his personal life and the likes - that's his bizwax. Am only writing on what he has 'recently' been in the (entertainment) news section for. Hence, he's not a square peg to anchor an interview the Governor on an issue. I remember he studied Engineering so for the D'banj link - that's more of a diversion. |
I could have written Chad, Congo or Uganda as long as they're in Africa. Just cited that as an example to respond to the quote.. The same way AAs found themselves there is similar for WSAs. |
You also after to be reminded that Nairaland is not a newspaper or online journal. So, it's what arouses interests generally that make FP. Even if someone writes that he slept with a rat, what SOURCE do you want for that? The more reason why it's a DISCUSSION FORUM. Other readers input, dispel or support certain writings - a reader's deductions can be formed therefrom. |
bayooooooo: I dey laugh.Thankfully, you used 'targeted'. So, since you've been following all the activities that the news media has attributed to 'suspected BH' members, were they all at churches ![]() Are the security agents in those agencies muslims? The prison officials? The market 'participants'? Kano residents? Human beings have lost their lives and that's what's most important. The statement was found to be 'made' by the Senator and not whether you or Mustay (dis)agrees with his opinion. |
istanbull: Since it has been confirmed. Let the customs seize the containersThe same way those Iranian bombs were seized prior to the April '11 elections. . . |
JimOvia: Nairaland has become an avenue to discuss all manner of crap. Yet whenever I create a meaningful topic it never makes frontpage. As in seriously, why do people 'lately' make so much fuss about the front page? You should be glad at least that people are responding to your topic. Moreover, it's the same way Newspapers manage content on their front page, if you're not interested, ignore. Front page would end up making back page later. Personal preferences and interests differ. Ghydyon: My advice is that we should stop the eating of tomatoes for now cos according to the pal over 20000 have died of dis.pls mod save more nigerians by taking dis to the front page manuch: firstly i don't know why this made the front page. secondly i personally dont see anything wrong with finding love through social media. It is the way the world is going. yes there are some good and bad stories isn't that the same if people meet any other way. BizBooks: We really need several Maleeqs to help debunk some of the junk people post here. Mukina & Co comechop: And front page how? |
MsDarkSkin: what i would like to know is why are white people STILL in Africa if they are racist? It's the same way some accuse black-americans of being 'racist' to blacks. Why don't the black-americans go back to Liberia? Paradox innit? |
Deductions - he doesn't trust you or he's insecure. iWouldn't wan't to judge him 'cos one doesn't know how you relate with him but you've shown here that you've tried to keep in touch with him on 'late night out' occasions. I'd suggest you both talk over this. |
soulamanne: My dad keeps date a lot.he writes dates on almost anything so he has never forgotten any of our birthdays(6 of us).but my mum;she always has to be reminded of the day's date.her tenants love her so much cos she doesn't even rmbr what dates thr rents are due.she always forgets our bdays except for the first child and hers.my bday was the 23rd and she came into the room as usual to ask what I would eat.I had gone out b4 ahe started callin to wish me happy bday after my dad had told her.u see the theory is if the person doesn't rmbr dates naturally it isn't a big deal.then I ve come to realise that parents are thinkin so much abt thr children that they even forget thr bdays.I ve never taken in offence in my mum's missin my bday.so OP don't be.it doesn't mean they love u less.they will try to rmbr nx year but trust, they will soon forget again by june! |
soulamanne: her tenants love her so much cos she doesn't even rmbr what dates thr rents are due.Ole tenants!!! ![]() Re: My Parents Forgot My Birthday At least, they didn't forget to procreate you. Inasmuch as the OP is 'emotional' and sees this as a misnormer, at 22 and with his responses, am disappointed he's bothered by this. At this age, you ought to have realised why they 'forgot' your bday. If you know all the 'wahala' they did over you from training ur 'olodo' by sending you to schools etc, then you'd probably be calling them on your bday to thank them for the life they gave you. You've pointed out what may have been the case a la recent death in the family, so just understand. Get some responsibilities too, it may make you see how 'privileged' you are. |
jennykadry: My dad could easily forget our birthdays but not my mum, each year he rings me to wish me a happy birthday I just know my mum must have reminded him. My mum still remembers the names of the midwives and doctors that brought all of us into this world. Even remembers the last food she ate before labor began, mine she said was beans and I ain't a fan of beansWow! Your mum's got some memory there!!! ![]() |
If the few comments are anything to go by, the youths are apparently disinterested in the substance of his meeting and dlighted by the theatrics, makeup or makeover and the likes. Had to crosscheck this was not in the entertainment section before posting this. |
Super1759: my friend shutup,I mean shut up,if you can't teach, what makes you a graduste? Is their any special trick to transfer knwoledge?people like you bring shame to we youth.theirs nothin wrong with going into classroom to teach, aftral you are paid and its just a one year thing.am a serving corper in kogi.was posted to a village where I was like a god.am happy because the community are happy.Graduates are not automatically teachers - they didn't go to get a degree to teach. Am surprised at this comment or aren't you a graduate? Those who want to teach at the very least would enroll for a Bachelors degree in Education. Starting from 300 level, B.Ed undergraduates get taught the 'intricasies', psychology, skills etc of teaching. Teaching is not just about knowing something, it involves delivering knowledge, understanding end-users and much more. So my friend, if graduates are automatically teachers, graduates in the medicine field would perhaps be teaching Biology instead of using their skills in the health institutions during their service year. Don't ever put a square peg in a round hole. |

Forgive me if someone else had mentioned this too - "I one, I two..." Whoever says "I one" gets to choose his team and the same goes for Mr. 'I Two' - others have to wait for their set. Just saw some kids do it and God, I so used to dislike it especially if am not the first, second or third to quickly say so and if whoever had said so was not my 'friend' - that one is sure banker that I won't get picked by the fella. Just getting picked can make you the firend of such person or mend fences with your fellow 'tiffer'. lol |
