malvisguy212:Look at you chopping logic smh. When I use my very sharp blade kitchen with fear and trembling, means I treasure myself and my fingers, so I use the knife with respect, not because its a monster or something of that sort malvisguy212:Look at you, smh. I am sure, you really dont know what religion is, and if I should tug you about the meaning of it, you'll be chomping your teeth Nwanne, religion is done and doing, lol. Look up the number of times of word "religion" up in the bible, lol, then use James 1:26-27 to grasp what religion is all about and really is, lol. |
malvisguy212:No! Whats the matter with you guys erhn? Did Noah not work, as in walk into the Ark ni? Why didnt Noah just stand outside the Ark without moving his legs to work walk into the Ark nau and lets see if or not he would have been saved |
malvisguy212:Good News is doing work, by seating on a boat and allow the boat to do work, even as you navigate it. An unsaved man tries to swim from one end of a river to the other end by his own strength, doesnt want God to be any part of the equation. malvisguy212:"28Therefore they said to Him, “What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?” 29Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent." - John 6:28-29 One day, some people asked Jesus what work(s) does God want us to do. Jesus in an uncompromisingly forthright way, as in meaning, without mincing words told them, its simply the work of faith. Grace is God’s giving us something we cannot earn or deserve. We cant earn by ourselves what Jesus has done for all, we dont serve what Jesus did for us. It is all down to the grace and benevolence of God. Now salvation is work, even Philippians 2:12 confirms this comment when it said: "... work out your salvation with fear and trembling" |
alBHAGDADI:Smh, you this man sef. The ark was a shadow jor. It foreshadowed something else that came later. Do you want me to give you a few lists of the peculiarity of the ark, it historically and interestingly shared with eternal salvation ni? |
blueAgent:Human immortality, in beginning was available to be put on, but it was sniffed at, and since then after, human immortality has been a holy grail, something eagerly pursued or sought after, something to be gained or to have. |
alBHAGDADI:Did Noah not build an ark all by himself ni? Abeggy comot for road jaare, make beta pipul pass jor. You think its only you who knows how to play hardball ni, erhn? |
alBHAGDADI:The former and latter are both good news if coming from God, it becomes a different sort of scenario and the plot thickens, if it is someone with dubious and questionable character making the promise and/or offer |

Parables usually have a plethora of lessons, moral truth in them and actually are a faithful representation of reality. They at times are told, as a story, with verisimilitude characters in them. The rich man, an unnamed character & the beggar poor man, who was given a Lazarus name character, in Luke 16 is an example of parables with verisimilitude characters. |
delishpot:The hustle is real, lol. Goshen360:See as, I just put hand rest for neck, come yakata open mouth wide bin dey mumu look Nwanne, please share when and how Jesus in His days rendered that pool of Bethesda null and void. Thank you. petra1:I completely 110% agree with Petra1 that commercialising and managing the pool in a way designed to make money and/or profit is wrong |
solite3:solite3, please stop trying to make fetch happen, because it's just not going to happen. Biko, jor now. Why is it not a parable? What is your understanding definition of what is a parable? solite3:Luke 16:19-31, which is story of the nameless rich man and beggar poor man named Lazarus, was designated as a parable as far early and way back in Luke 15:3. This was a successive spate of parable telling by Jesus on that eventful learning day. Quite a large number of parables said in quick succession was done and quashed in between Luke 15:3 and Luke 16:19-31, by Jesus. I previously, asked you to take a wild guess solite3, on how many number of parables in total, did Jesus churn out between Luke 15:3 and Luke 16:19-31 and to list them, but you didnt, I guess you were shy, lol. No problem. solite3:What is the name of the rich man solite3? Are you now beginning to understand why I asked you the below resurfaced questions, hmm? lol 1/ Do you know what happened, as in meaning what Jesus did, a few weeks after He narrated the parable of the Rich Man and Beggar Poor Man named Lazarus? 2/ Most of the verisimilitude characters in Jesus' parables, hardly have names, but the name of the beggar poor man was given. Do you know why Jesus, on purpose, gave Lazarus, as the name of the beggar poor man, in that Luke 16:19-31 parable narrative, hmmm? You like ignoring and dont answer questions. It is a bad habit of yours and a self-sabotaging behavior one for that matter. I know I earlier asked you these two below questions: 1/ What is a verisimilitude character? 2/ What does verisimilitude character mean, hmm? You wouldnt have had the nerve to advance your second apology, if you had answered those two questions, solite3: Did Jesus, not reveal a spiritual truth about sheol, that before then, was never known about, hmm? solite3:It is obvious from your pitiful three apologies that your understanding is seriously flawed when it comes to what parables are and you for no justifiable reason, just want to argue with me. Such a beautiful thread, providing useful and interesting information, but all you want to do, is flaunt and display that you do not know things you should know. |

solite3:Why you want to be doing something like that for, huh? solite3:"Then they scoffed, “He’s just a carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon. And his sisters live right here among us.” They were deeply offended and refused to believe in Him." - Mark 6:3 You gave good answers, but there are better and/or best answers. I can help you out by providing you with Mark 6:3 above. You can see from Mark 6:3 above, that Jesus had His own brothers and sisters, so I ask again solite3, why do you think Jesus, when on the cross at Calvary, handed over His mother Mary, specifically to John and not to any of His own particular brothers and sisters, hmm?. I want you to improve your answer and improve it with the appropiate alternative biblical verse or reference please too. Remember, I typed about bosom, saying that the term bosom, as a matter of fact and without necessarily going to be sexually suggestive about the term, is used to give the impression of relationship, closeness, fondness, close association, cosy and private, relaxed atmosphere, close attachment, close acquaintance with knowledge of each other etcetera. C'mon now solite3, this is more than being fair. I already have bailed you out with more than enough clues. |
solite3:"Then Jesus told them this parable:" - Luke 15:3 "Jesus also said to His disciples:" - Luke 16:1 It is easy and very simple how I know it was a parable solite3. OK, how I know it was a parable is because of what Luke 15:3 above said and leading to be continued in Luke 16:1. There are quite a large number of parables said in quick succession by Jesus between Luke 15:3 and Luke 16:19-31. Take a wild guess solite3. How many number of parables in total, did Jesus churn out between Luke 15:3 and Luke 16:19-31? Give me the list. lol solite3:No? You dont know? You dont know what happened, as in meaning what Jesus did, a few weeks after He told the parable of the Rich Man and Beggar Poor Man named Lazarus? Granted that most of the verisimilitude characters in Jesus' parables, hardly have names, but the name of the beggar poor man was given. and you dont know why Jesus, on purpose, gave Lazarus, as the name of the beggar poor man, in that Luke 16:19-31 parable narrative, hmmm? Na wa oo. Oleku, shey I bin don tell you something wey you no fit do, ni? |
jamesid29:I am not really concerned about you jamesid29. Besides, I have nothing to work out with you. It is a showdown between truth and falsehood, not a showdown between Maamin and MuttleyLaff. As I previously have said, I'll send you the "sons of God" memo the moment Maamin grows one. |
jamesid29:Of course jamesid29, of course the evidences will easily show "sons of God" aka "sons of Elohim" that appeared before God were human beings and never a chance of ice in hell were they any of the angelic hosts of heaven. By the time I am done, you'll be mercilessly beating yourself up, for so long believing they were angels, the celestial being type. The ball is in Maamin court for the showdown. Lol. |
jamesid29:jamesid29, all I have to do is let the Bible say by itself what and who the sons of God were and/or are. This is nothing about theories, but is dealing with actual incontrovertible facts jamesid29 from OT and NT standpoints. The evidences will show who the Bible, without a shadow of doubt clearly states who were or are the sons of God that appeared before the Lord, lol, suffice to say, it certainly weren't angelic hosts of heaven, lol, but without a shadow of doubt, were and are human beings Maamin, won't take the challenge and risk having her illusion destroyed, so will play it safe, so keep the delusion and flame of falsehood alive, lol I'll cc you whenever Maamin picks up the gauntlet. |
solite3:Very good answer giving "John is that disciple whom Jesus loved", and relying on John 19:26-27 for support, but in the context and spirit of talking about idioms them two are not the best answers solite3. I know if you carefully think deeply, you can come up with the best answer and best proof verse too. lol. Let the Spirit take over from the flesh, yield to the Spirit to help you with the answer. |
solite3: I beg to differ with you solite3. To start with, it was a parable for crying out loud, or wasnt it not, ni, hmmm?. C'mon. solite3:You're right that Jesus usually doesnt use real names of people to make parables. This is why I asked you the two earlier resurfaced questions below that you evaded replying to 1/ Do you know what happened, as in meaning what Jesus did, a few weeks after He narrated the parable of the Rich Man and Beggar Poor Man named Lazarus? 2/ Most of the verisimilitude characters in Jesus' parables, hardly have names, but the name of the beggar poor man was given. Do you know why Jesus, on purpose, gave Lazarus, as the name of the beggar poor man, in that Luke 16:19-31 parable narrative, hmmm? |
Maamin:Maamin, like I previously stated, there are three cardinal points that always must be borne in mind. Have more than you show, speak less than you know and never show your hand too early. The last one, is about change, as the time is now, to take you to the cleaners Maamin, lol. Maamin:What are you develping cold feet for, hmm? Just prepare yourself for a surprising and pleasant discovery, that you've all this while mistaken what the "sons of God" really are. Sometimes people don't want to hear the truth because they don't want their illusions destroyed, so they might say naaahh! I will pass ![]() The light of the truth can be harsh to the eyes of those that have been in the dark for too long. There is a western part of the country colloquial, that says: "Ti ogun ẹni ba daniloju, a maa jẹnlẹngẹ fi gba ori" which loosely translated means: "When you have confidence in your juju jazz charm, you can knack or smack it on your head, safely and gently without having any ill feeling and/or problem" lol. Give a time, day and date for us have this once and for all duel to death, to forever put the nail in the coffin of your misguided belief that angels are called sons of God. C'mon Maamin step up to the plate. Dont let your side down, lol |
This thread is about idioms, of which Abraham's bosom, from Luke 16:22, is a very good classical example of one. Now can someone please tell me whether or not the beggar poor man was carried into Abraham's literal or not, bosom or frontal chest area? Of course, the place is real and exists, but the term, Abraham's bosom is used figuratively. Literally carrying the beggarpoor man into Abraham's bosom or chest area did not happen. What usually, by the way, is a parable? We all know that Jesus, told quite a sizeable amount of parables, as a matter of fact, varying in total, between a number of 45 and 60. The parables usually have a plethora of lessons, moral truth in them and actually are a faithful representation of reality. They at times are told, as a story, with verisimilitude characters in them. The rich man, unnamed character & the beggar poor man given a Lazarus name character, in Luke 16 is an example of parables with verisimilitude characters. |

solite3:"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." - Matthew 7:15 Matthew 7:15's wolf in sheep clothing is another good biblical idiom. The term bosom, as a matter of fact and without necessarily going to be sexually suggestive about the term, is used to give the impression of relationship, closeness, fondness, close association, cosy and private, relaxed atmosphere, close attachment, close acquaintance with knowledge of each other etcetera. Here's an interesting question for you solite3 or anybody else for that matter. Why do you think Jesus when on the cross at Calvary, handed off His mother Mary specifically to John and not to any of His own particular brothers and sisters, hmm?. Back up your answer with biblical verse or reference please |
solite3:Will you for a second please stop in a quick and hasty manner replying to comment hmm? What is a verisimilitude character? What does verisimilitude character mean, hmm? I repeat, until Jesus' parable in the NT, sheol in general, without necessarily distinguishing between righteous or unrighteous souls, has been the realm of the dead or abode of the dead. We have verses in OT (e.g. Psalm 9:17 etcetera) suggesting that the wicked go to sheol and nothing about those that arent wicked is said of where they are. It wasnt until Jesus in the NT, brought things into perspective when He shared the hyperbolic illustration of sheol with the story of the rich man being elsewhere and Abraham with the beggar poor man being on a different side that we got to know that sheol actually has two sections. This is the very important point and observation to know about I was making. C'mon, at ease soldier. Relax. lol |

solite3, well done brother, this is a very commendable thread and deserving approval and admiration for providing useful and interesting information Just to build up on your explantion on what idioms are. Idioms exist in every language. They are a group of words established by usage as having a meaning not easily deducible from the constituent individual words used in the idiom or saying make up (e.g. I can eat a horse, its raining cats and dogs, drop me with a feather etcetera) Idioms are words or phrases that aren't meant to be taken literally. solite3:"And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey." - Exodus 3:17 "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet." - Matthew 10:14 "And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;" - Luke 16:22 "Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch" - Matthew 15:14 Please dont tell me that the beggar was literally carried into Abraham's bosom here, like as if a literal physical real Abraham's chest area place.. Of course that place is a literal place, put literally carrying the beggar into Abraham's bosom or chest area is not, besides the Luke 16:22 narrative is a parable. We all know that Jesus, told quite a sizeable amount of parables, as a matter of fact, varying in total, between a number of 45 and 60. The parables usually have a plethora of lessons and moral truth in them. Actually are a faithful representation of reality. They at times are told, as a story, with verisimilitude characters in them. The rich man & beggar poor man named, Lazarus characters, in Luke 16 is an example of parables with verisimilitude characters. Fyi, we have verses in OT (e.g. Psalm 9:17 etcetera) suggesting that the wicked go to sheol but it was Jesus in the NT that brought things into perspective for us, where and when He shared the hyperbolic illustration of sheol with the story of the rich man being elsewhere and Abraham with the beggar poor man being on a different side Well, until Jesus' parable in the New Testament, Luke 16:19-31 to be precise, sheol in general, without necessarily distinguishing between righteous or unrighteous souls, has been the realm of the dead or abode of the dead, but from Jesus' parable, we got to know, that, Sheol, has two sections with a dividing gulf (i.e. a demarcation, if you'll like to call it that way) The two sections were the Rich man section and a place called, Abraham's bosom section Here are some interesting things to think about: 1/ Do you know what happened, as in meaning what Jesus did, a few weeks after He narrated the parable of the Rich Man and Beggar Poor Man named Lazarus? 2/ Most of the verisimilitude characters in Jesus' parables, hardly have names, but the name of the beggar poor man was given. Do you know why Jesus, on purpose, gave Lazarus, as the name of the beggar poor man, in that Luke 16:19-31 parable narrative, hmmm? |

kkins25:Why arent I surprised it is kkins25:This prayer should have first be directed at God naa. kkins25:If it exists in kkins, what's bad in it existing in the Godhead kkins25, hmm? kkins25:The human race came from one human template, meaning that the Adam template was used for making many copies of other human beings kkins25:kkins25, 120 years is a very long time and its enough to acquire penguins from the Antarctica to the Middle East into Noah's ark now , you know. kkins25:Yes, without getting or going "genus/genera" technical, it could contain all the species on earth, including plant species which would have been destroyed after the flood, if the species were infants and the plant species were seedlings and/or seeds kkins25:You are missing a trick here kkins25. It has nothing to do with souls being used as fuel, but rather has to do with the noble act of allowing every soul the opportunity to exercise the right to come into existence kkins25:Do you really think killing the devil at the very beginning will save us all this trouble, huh? Has the devil ever personally threatened you kkins25? Has the devil personally ever got you into trouble kkins25, hmm? I think the problem is not the devil per se, because the devil doesnt force people to do anything, dont you agree kkins25, hmm? This is an invalid question ojaare kkins25:Artistic license kkins25. Its just as simple as that, so please dont sweat it kkins25:Why not create malaria, same way death was created, hmm? God created malaria because of the God prerogative. kkins25:Look at your fingers kkins24, are they equal in length? No, I didnt think they'll be. kkins25:Nope kkins25:We each look at things from different angles and level of vantage points. kkins25:It is not necessary is why kkins25:Why only the Jews what? kkins25:Yes. kkins25:Empathy and having compassion to your neighbour will save you from the lake of fire kkins25. |
