diordaves: Nice job. Good workmanship. Really looks well built with a lot of thoughts gone into it.
One big thing though, if this was my built, I will 'close eye' and add a third coarse to the levelling. That is three coaches after lintel. Why? If the finishing include POP, you will not believe the dramatic positive impact a high ceiling will do not only to the choice of POP design but the living experience of the house as a whole. Visitors will step into the parlour and will experience the majestic feel to the house. This is due to the the brilliant white POP finish accentuated by the very high ceiling. You don't get this feeling with low ceiling houses done up with PVC ceiling. This is just me speaking for myself and wishing this is mine. If only wishes were horses, beggers would ride. Thanks man. It's actually three courses block after lintel. All blocks after lintel from the inside is 3 course while the outside is 2 with parapet beam cast to make it 3. See photos of inside.

rotecch77: In construction what you show here is real DPC This can be done with special engr mortal or concrete, polythene or metal to resist water capillary action (dampness in building).it just that the thickness is usually not as thick as the pics you show above
The so called German floor is called OVER SITE CONCRETE. The two has diff purposes.(dpc and over site concrete)But many people mixed the two name together. Pleae assist with the different purposes. |

Please what of something of this nature in the attached? Dubemcapital1: Sure! House without OSC are reasons why tiles of some buildings are actually losing their grip I mean the tiles seems to be caving down or gradually losing themselves from the walls.
Again, German floor stops water from the bathrooms tiles percolating below the foundation.
Therefore, having a German floor or over site concrete done in your building is very good and cheaper comparing its importance. (For me its a must do)

yinkaoke: At muyi002 Ur pics is like 2 pits. Are they both septic n spakaway? Is there measurement same? Was there any reinforcement, use of iron rods? Or is there a need. Also is it advisable to do it at d back of d house or in front. Just asking oh the Size i quoted is the total size of the soakaway. based on your usage, you can liaise with the bricklayer to divide it for you. |

yinkaoke: Good morning great people. Please l need advise 1. How much do l pay my mason to raise 300 blocks above my lintel? 2. I was advised to dig my septic n soak away n use d dug out sand to fill my foundation. But my worry is that l am not ready to work on d septic n soakaway until l get to plumbing work next year. So how safe would d open septic n soak away be.as l am concerned is it normal to dig n leave it open until am ready. Thanks all in anticipation of ur advise The cost of is dependent on area. Mine which picture is attached was done for 180k (this include cost of digging foundation and blinding the foundation). This is an agreement I had with the bricklayer at inception. Cost of half DPC is not part of the 180k. Soak away digging would help you for filing. Soakaway after digging should not be left without putting blocks and making the blocks formidable by putting) concrete in the holes till it gets to the bottom. This was what I did and my Soakaway has been like this since June this year and it is serving as where I put water. See attached

Rubbiish: Do u mean d number of rod lengths required for d blue colour? It can only be determined by the length and breadth of d building. But i will strongly advice u get someone to supervise and handle the parapet work. Because u will need a professional to supervise it. All the reinforcements need to key to avoid failure.
Reinforcing a parapet work requires supervision, most of these iron benders will tie the rod anyhow just to get their money. Only a supervisor will ensure all the reinforcement works are properly keyed. I strongly advice u get someone that has been into it. Just the length of 1 blue iron is what I intend to know. I.e. how many inches is one |
