ndu_chucks:
You critics and haters are actually the butt of the joke for you lack English comprehension and are unable to dicipher sophistry in Patience Jonathan's linguistic prowess. She said "''Today is world aids day, and all of us have AIDS only that some people are positive while others are negative!"

olodos, do you know that "aids" also mean "to provide support for or relief to" ? Did it occur to you that she was refering to the meaning of 'aid' I just posted, when she was talking of positive aid? You all should leave Madam alone and get a life. Most of you don't know the difference between aides, aids, and AIDS virus, much more how to spell the words. Okwute Palestinian piafuka gi isi (all of una).
this is even more hilarious than the original blunder. grin grin

ocelot2006:
Ojukwu may be seen as a hero to the Igbo, but that's it. To everyone else, he's just another prominent Nigerian that just away.
my exact sentiments. while I certainly don't support the ridicule being meted to him by some posters, the Igbos would do well to understand that not everyone can, and will, observe the same almost deity-like deference to Ojukwu as they do.

PoliticsRe: Senate Rejects State Burial For Ojukwu by muyoto: 10:11pm On Dec 01, 2011
ChinenyeN:
What you just said is what I was trying to pull out of the mouth of some of the people who are posting here, particularly muyoto who seems to believe that the request for state burial is a formal one by Igbo people.
from the same article:

The former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr Dozie Ikedife, who spoke on behalf of Southeast elders, insisted that the national honour must come before Ojukwu’s burial, adding that such recognition coming after his burial will be unacceptable to Ndigbo.
though Dr Dozie didn't explicitly mention the state burial thingy (Obi did), it could be assumed, since he was part of the entourage to GEJ, that he was very much in support of it.

My question though: had the senate agreed to a state burial for the reverred leader, would you guys be towing the ''Nigeria is not a State, so cannot perform a State burial'' line?

you know, grapes tend to be sour when beyond one's reach. . .  lipsrsealed
PoliticsRe: Senate Rejects State Burial For Ojukwu by muyoto: 9:57pm On Dec 01, 2011
PointB:
The real question is: Is Nigeria a state?
Can you give what you don't have?

Can a " a mere geographical expression" be qualified as a state?

Nigeria is a failed state, anything is touches turns to dust, Ojukwu is better off embalmed in Biafra.
See ya mouth

So the next time you apply for visa to the US, fill in ''mere geographical expression'' or, better still, Biafra, as your country of origin.  tongue

Neither Ojukwu nor Igbos asked for any state burial.Any abuja offer of state burial will be rejected by the Igbo.Ojukwu will get state burial in Biafraland.
think again. . .

THE President has been urged to approve state burial for Chief Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Igbo leader who died in London on Saturday.

Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, who visited the Presidential Villa in Abuja Monday night, according to sources, told Dr Goodluck Jonathan that “given the stream of tributes for Ojukwu,” the ex-Biafran leader should get a state burial.

Obi, who officially informed the President of Ojukwu’s death, also thanked him for his concern throughout the 11-month period of Ojukwu’s illness, it was learnt.

Besides, the request for a state funeral, there is also a demand for a posthumous national honour for the late Ojukwu.

ChinenyeN:
I don't understand, who requested state burial in the first place, and why? undecided
It was, evidently, during the visit of Peter Obi and his entourage to the presidency:

Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, who visited the Presidential Villa in Abuja Monday night, according to sources, told Dr Goodluck Jonathan that “given the stream of tributes for Ojukwu,” the ex-Biafran leader should get a state burial.
My deepest respect to the deceased Igbo leader, but I honestly can't understand why anyone in his right senses would even consider a State Burial for him.

Such will be, IMO, an insult not just to Nigeria but to those, especially, who stood (and continue to stand) and died for the actualization of Biafra.
