then like gej, the man should get out  what is it with these good for nothings - do they think titled positions are all a bout the perks only? so why is the man the 'leader of muslims in nigeria' (whatever that means). does he think leadership is about tucking your tail between your legs when danger is around the corner. i swear, these Northern leaders are failures over and over again. they do not stand for anything. if anything they compete with gej for idiotic statements - which foo-ol was it that said the murder of youth corpers was their destiny then turned round to apologise to bh? and when you travel through the north, you see their billboards with manic chest beating the lion of so and so. more like the rat .

i'm really sad for the north. their leaders have collectively failed them, and their leaders are the bastard parents of BH. as always, it is the common man that gets screwed over.
The sultan certainly cannot be absolved of blame. My earlier position was highlight the fact that most of the heat being directed at him should more appropriately be directed at the FG.

Well, I suppose the whole fiasco could be traced to leadership failure both fronts. Sultan for failing, or perhaps fearing, to denounce the sect, and our dear GEJ for flunking so tragically his role of ensuring the safety of lives and property of his constituency, Nigeria.

I could not have put it better. I am firmly convinced the Sultan is having nightmares over Boko Haram just like GEJ. These guys are proving to be really deadly and are rendering our Armed Forces ineffective! The man is hanging on for survival.
Where our security agencies have shown to be no match for BH, I really wonder what people are expecting a defenseless Sultan to do.

In saner climes where Islamic clerics came out to unequivocally repudiate the brand of Islam being peddled by the extremists, they (clerics) were assured of their security should reprisals occur. Can the same be said for our dear country?

call him a coward if you like, but the man is simply not in the mood to render his wives premature widows, especially on account of government's security ineptitude.

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram: If Gej Is Eventually Fustrated Out Of Power, what Would You Expect From Mend? Expecially, by muyoto: 7:02pm On Dec 26, 2011
By frustrated out of power, I suppose you mean his resignation or possible impeachment. Either will be a mistake IMO.

And I'm not even talking about MEND resuming their bombing activities at the creeks. The consequences of his removal will be far more profound than that.

BTW, isn't that what ''they'' are looking for?

GEJ should sit up, that's all.

this is nonsense. In as much as much as I believe GEJ has failed woefully in provide security to Nigerians, his sworn constitutional responsibility, his resignation will serve absolutely no purpose at this time.

hahahaha.  Who says the Igbo and Yoruba tribalists can't work together?  Not me, that's for sure.  cheesy

I always get a kick out of their ability to temporarily suspend the acrimony and come together to sling aimless arrows at all "Boko Northerners" and those dreadful "Allah-people." It's even better this time because the closet tribalists and the RELIGIOUS BIGOTS from the Romance and other sections are joining in. cool

Of course the cessation of hostilities will last only as long as the next thread asking whether it is Igbos or Yorubas controlling the criminal enterprise in SouthAfrica/Italy/USA and bringing shame on the great Nigeria/Biafra.

Whenever there's a series of attack by Boko Haram, all I see on NL is tons of threads on the issue and after that everyone goes to sleep. I think Nigerians should be classed as one of the dumbest and silliest people in the world!

When are we going to face the issue head on and address the most thorny question?
Boko Haram threads are really getting boring these days and I think everyone should just pretend, as we all do, that the issue is insignificant.

Why wail all the time but at the same time sidestep addressing the question posed by Boko Haram that they need an Islamic North?
who is doing the sidestepping? and who's job is it to address it squarely?

If a split occurs then what will happen to the Christians in the North and Muslims in the South ? There may will be a terrible ethnic/religious cleansing like Yugoslavia.
the risk of ethinc/religoius doesn't even begin to address the list of possible complications that may arise from a split.

that somehow the creation of boundaries will completely address the myriad of issues plaguing Nigeria is hideously comical.

The truth is, there is, justifiably, a lot of anger presently in the land, and in such situations it's not uncommon for temporary leave of senses, in a fit of blinding rage, to occur.

did all the fools talking nonsense and exposing hatred and inciting division read this statement of the Sultan?:

"Speaking on extremism and violence in the country, he said Islam was never in support of those who use violence to achieve their aims. aims".
i didnt even expect him to say that much.

obviously some people seem to have forgotten that some muslim clerics had indeed spoken out against BH in d past. Where are they now? You guessed it--no more!!

Do you guys really think d sultam is unaware of d fate dat could befall him were he to issue a clear § unambiguous denounciation of BH? Do you also think that the sect, given its antecedents, would give a hoot abt his religious status b4 takin him out? Who no like him life?

This is certainly not an attempt to hold brief for d sultam--he clearly has own share of d blame. My aim to make a point that has reiterated over and over: THE BUCK STOPS WIT GOODLUCK JONATHAN! HE MUST TAKE FULL RESPONSIBLITY FOR THE COUNTRY'S SECURITY!

''we shd not blame Gej, but d Northern leaders for failing 2 denounce BH. Excuses certainly don't come any lamer than this.

What arrant trash!!
Nobody is asking Gej to resign. He shd sit up that's all.

Kingoflag has said it all. As the chief security officer, d buck must stop with him. Attempts to pass it onto d Northern elders only serve to accentuate his incompetence, IMO
PoliticsRe: Stop The Violence Against Women In Nigeria! by muyoto: 11:29pm On Dec 25, 2011
Nigerians are indeed very funny people.

I had promised myself not comment on dis issue anymore, but this particular one, given its sheer absurdity, has warranted a word or two.

To put its absurdity into context, consider d fact boko haram has consigned to early grave, in d most fiendish manner conceivable, no fewer than 20 Christians whose only offence was that they had gone to pay due reverence to our Lord Jesus whose birthday, incidentally, it is today.

Rather than we collectively reflect on d situation, some funny fellows have preoccupied themselves with bringing what they, in their equally funny line of thinking, consider justice to the bishop. Never mind that d lady in question didn't ask their favour in d first place.

More baffling is new angle they seek to bring into d matter: ''violence against women'', when it is clear, at least to those with a functional brain, dat the gender of d lady had absolutely nothing to do with d incident. Had it been a male, i doubt if d bishop would have reacted differently.

But that is neither here nor there. Bottom line: this silliness has gone on for too long. Its high time it stopped.

We have far more pressing issues to concern ourselves with.
