Military coups and military rule as a whole will not be tolerated.
If they want the support of the people, then let them stir up an election bid...or impeach the president through their constituency representatives.
If the case is that bad, and the military is really not in support of the corruption of the political class....then the people can have their way.
Corruption prevails among the political class because they enjoy the protection of the military...if the military gives way, the Law will prevail. |

Treadway: I'll respond to this. What you advised ie. 'Prove that more people voted for him, and voting manipulation' is exactly what APC were hoping he would do. Thankfully, he didn't. I have seen many here claiming he came third, when anyone who was not in a coma and witnessed that election knows clearly that he either came first or second due to the bulk of his votes that were suppressed/stolen by the APC majorly in three states, Lagos, Rivers, Plateau. Now if we go by math, I can accept and adduce that he likely came second, cos even if they award him the rightful votes he had stolen from him, it still likely won't be up to the 2million gap APC gave the LP, majorly cos not only did APC steal some LP votes, they also padded theirs in their strongholds (the padding I can't fault much cos who won't pad in their strongholds). So that is why, they are arguing voting manipulation but not basing their argument SOLELY on those numbers. In short, what they are trying to do is to prove that he met the constitutional spread of 25% in 2/3.
E.g. in my polling unit the results changed, what was posted was different from what was counted when we left that night, we (progressive youths) only waited to count presidential, we didn't wait for the Senate and HOR cos it was starting to rain. The change was a reduction of 10votes for LP and an addition of 42 for the APC! We believe they added back the voided votes, cos there were a lot of voided votes for the APC, all those baba and mama 70, most of them didn't thumbprint correctly, and were rightly counted as void votes, but they added it back after we left, imagine that! You may say it isn't much, but replicate that in all PUs in Oyo and you see it is. I think what the lawyers are trying to achieve is a re-run, cos in law it isn't about what you know to be true but what you can prove. If he only based it on the numbers like you advised, he wouldn't have been able to prove it in ALL PUs across the country which is what would have been required of him by law. LP didn't have enough agents, so proving that will be impossible. So, the smart thing is to stick to the things they can prove.
1. VOTING manipulations in the places there was overwhelming proof to support the claim, esp the state's I mentioned earlier which they brought to court. So expect the numbers alloted to him to increase
2. Prove that they met the minimum 25% spread
3. Prove that the APC didn't meet the constitutional requirements of 25% in the FCT.
4. Prove that the APC candidate are not qualified due to all those legal hogwash like double nomination, drug case etc.
The end game is smart though, stick to what you can prove, and hopefully overwhelm them with enough facts that no matter their leanings they'll likely have to rule for a re-run. This is a long stretch as na naija we dey, but it was the only good shot they had. If they had just stuck to the numbers, the thing go don end since in the favor of the APC.
That said, to join to what you said, I think anyone still protesting for Nigeria is foolish. If the Good Lord, allowed what happened during that election to happen, then whatever will come out from the tribunal na im we suppose dey wait for. Whatever it is we take am as say e please God to allow am ni and face front, knowing we tried our best and did our part. I will never ever protest for the good of this country ever again. Whatever wants to happen to the country and its people let it happen. My own is to think of how to pilot my affairs somehow somehow, not a foolish protest that will yield nothing! You just said all the right things. Let's hope PO wins, even if it's on technicalities |

Slymontee: Nigerian Lecturers' Lives Matter! ... University lecturers were terribly underpaid in this country when the economy was not this bad. Imagine what the value of their meagre salary which was last reviewed in 2009 look like in this 2023...and you still owe them 8months of that...you simply are killing them off slowly and destroying public universities. This is simply academic terrorism masterminded by Buhari's govt and ignored so far by Tinubu's govt too. University Staff Lives Matter!!! If the pay is too small, why keep working there? Go for private practice or start your own private teaching centre...even online. Which body is in charge of Salary structure in the government...education sector? Let them champion this or review it upwards and set their budget that covers for that from educational IGR. Minister of education go sign, finance director will implement. OR....not legally enforceable? |

lawani: The problem is how to create the states. There was a laid down procedure left by the British but the current constitution have messed it up. The existence of the Senate is the biggest impedance. There are clamors for state creation but the first step is to dissolve the Senate. Who will dissolve the Senate?. However the majority of Nigerian ethnic groups want to control their territory as used to be the case before colonisation Exactly. We have to keep finding a way to live together in harmony...or split back into our territory. Afterall, the British is no longer here to force us to keep living together. If the union isn't working...go ur separate ways |

lawani: Ilorin, Jebba, Offa are different states lumped together by Nigeria in a strange Kwara state the meaning of which is not known to any native of the area Wahala. E no go easy to govern three states joined together...yet with different religious and cultural leaning. There's no homogeneity amongst them. Really hard to govern. That means Kwara go big well well o. Funny enough, we rarely hear of conflicts in Kwara state. They are rarely in the news for anything good/bad. Aside from more state separation what can be done......no one seems to be complaining tho, except outsiders like us, showing brotherly concern...coz man is born free, and should live free. |

LINSAR: Nothing special.

Heck I even introduced nairaland to my male neighbour this year. Some people don't know the sturvs done here, and some people don't feel the vibe here too. Even we that are regular users of the site, had at one point complained of its bland simplicity. We'd left the site and returned to it again. Same thing we did for Twitter. We opened account, found it boring...left....and returned. So don't blame me for being amazed at the presence of ladies making posts here on nairaland. Meeting one in person, would be special to me. |

lawani: It is because of the cumbersome state creation system. Ilorin is one state. Offa another state, Jebba, Bariba, Igbomina and etc. All have more population than many UN member sovereign states Setting up a new state and council administration is very expensive. Can Ilorin sustain herself in terms of resources et al? Remember the backlash Tinubu got from Obasanjo when he increased Lagos state's LGAs Aside that, are the indigenous Yoruba people of Ilorin willing to relinquish their rights to the Nupe people Lands are owned by conquest or ancestral settlement. The war is over. They have been well compensated. Let the real owners of the land breathe. |

Invitationn: Stop saying what you don’t know. There are many Obas in Kwara- especially, Kwara south, who has got nothing to do with the emir in Ilorin. The Ilorin emirate influences no reach the Obas. They don’t do things together-everybody dey their dey. Albeit, during the military days, the Emir demanded the Obas to pay him homage but the military governor of Kwara then, gen Bamigboye said it won’t happen and it’s been that way since then. Thanks for the information. Buh it seems crass, that we'd be running two parallel traditional stool in one state. Kwara will not annex Ilorin to the caliphate. Well, let everyone follow their cultural heritage and respect other people's culture...but it should be clear, who has the veto power, when conflict arises as a result of this parallel kings ruling different people in the same space. Just like cosmopolitan Lagos...everyone knows there is only one Oba as far as lagos land mass is concerned. The Oba is the highest trad stool in the land...no conflicts with another king |

The owner of the car will be the one doing repairs and servicing according to our agreement.
Did you tell him before making such expenses? Did he permit you to carry on?
If it's minor repairs, you handle...but for major things like brain box, you tow the car back to him till he's ready to fix it.
You decide if truly you've been fair to him...if he wasn't aware of those expenses beforehand, you can't blame him for not accepting/believing your claim and compensating you duly.
Or go with your proof, remove everything you put there and sell them to start off somewhere. |
