A Former Bank Employee, Mike Ilishebo, 44, allegedly killed his 35-Year-Old Wife, Valerie Franco, before taking his own life in Zambia.

The Incident happened at Meanwood Ndeke Phase One area in Lusaka on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

Police Public Relations officer, Rae Hamoonga, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, April 4, said that Mr. Ilishebo strangled Valerie with an electric power adapter cable and stabbed her in the stomach with a knife.

“Yesterday, Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at approximately 16:05 hours, Chelston Police Station, through Ndeke-vorna Police Post, received a distressing report from Alice Mapulanga, 38, that Mr. Ilishebo has perpetrated a heinous act against his wife, Valerie, aged 35,” he said.

"Upon the arrival of Police Scenes of Crime officers at the scene, Ms. Franco's lifeless body was discovered lying in the bedroom adjacent to the bed, with a knife embedded in her abdomen

“Meanwhile, Mr Ilishebo was found deceased in the sitting room, with a black substance coming from his mouth.

“It's alleged that Mr Ilishebo strangled Ms Franco using an electric power adapter cable and subsequently stabbed her in the stomach with a knife, before taking a poisonous substance, resulting in his own demise.”

Mr. Hamoonga stated that the incident is said to have occurred between 15:00 and 16:00 hours.

"The bodies were transported to the University Teaching Hospital mortuary for further examination.”

Hamoonga said the motive behind the incident appears to stem from long marital dispute between the couple who shared an eight-month-old child.

Why Commiting Fraud Over 3.9milllion naira?

The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, arrested the General Overseer of CAC Freedom City Prophetic and Deliverance Ministry, Ilorin, Kwara State, Adeniyi James, for allegedly defrauding a member of the church to the tune of N3,980,000.

A Statement by the Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, made available to our correspondent in Ilorin on Saturday noted that the victim, Oluwole Babarinsa, had in a petition to the commission, alleged that James called him out during a church programme some time in 2021 that he had a revelation that he would travel abroad.

According to the petitioner, the cleric, in the course of giving the revelation, asked him about his preferred country, to which he replied “Canada”.

“Thereafter, we struck an agreement to talk later to perfect arrangements for the trip,” the petitioner said.

“The prophet later told me that he had a friend in Lagos who could help me facilitate my relocation to Canada, but for N1.7 million and N2.5 million for processing of flight ticket and travel documents, respectively”, the petitioner said.

The Petitioner further disclosed that he had to sell some of his property and took some loans before he could raise N3,980,000, which he gave the prophet to facilitate his quick relocation to Canada.

The Petitioner further said that after prolonged waiting with no result, he became agitated and began to query the prophet’s vision, prompting him to ask for a refund of his money.

He said that all efforts and entreaties to the suspect to refund his money yielded no positive result.

The EFCC said that the suspect would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The General Manager, Cooperate Affairs of National Inland Waterways Authority, (NIWA) Alhaji Jibril Dardau, has died in Lokoja, Kogi State.

A family source said that Dardau slumped and died shortly after leading an early morning prayer at the mosque on Friday, April 5, 2024.

“He slumped in his sitting room this morning. He had been managing High Blood Pressure, BP for sometimes now," the source who craved anonymity told the Daily Trust.

“He lost his most senior wife last year.”

The cooperate headquarters of NIWA in Lokoja was thrown into mourning when the news of his sudden death trickled in in the early hours of the day.

The deceased was buried at Unguwan Power graveyard in Lokoja, after Friday's Juma’at prayer.
