Breezy90:Wait .. I hope you are not trying to come to Canada, get jobs and think of paying your fees via those jobs? For me to give you proper advice, I hope it is not Ontario, London you are coming to? I am not saying it is impossible but make sure you ask the right questions and know the exact province/territory you should be. You cannot make 2000CAD monthly after tax as a student who is new in Canada except you work more than 20 hours a week. Why would you want to break the law when you can become a PR in 3 years? It is not worth it. My advice for any hustler is bring money along for your fees and extra change (at least for first semester), don't come during winter because getting jobs for hustlers (if you know what i mean) is harder during winter, choose the right school (make sure they accept installments and you have an idea of duration), province and city. Your location matters a lot if you know you are a hustler. You will understand better when you get to Canada. Asides fees, there are some modules they will tell you to register for online and you have to pay. I currently have a module where I have to pay 123CAD for online and it is compulsory because there are assignments I need to submit via the site. Also, choose the right programs. Most Programs with Co-op allows you to work for up to 8 months or even a year. You get paid and work full time after completing 2 semesters with a good CGPA (please confirm from your school the terms and conditions of their coop). This is good because you earn while schooling and get the Canadian work experience as well. God help us all. |
042viber12:Please your friend and cousin, are they students or working full time? |
oscarpellenchy:You can go for anyone bro with your experience. For anyone you decide to go for, just make sure you can give good reasons in your SOP whyyou have chosen the program and its benefit to you? No red flag. |
vibrant99:As a rule on social media, I try to jump and pass anything that will lead to arguments. Funny enough I agree with some, if not all of your points. The only issue I have is you are trying to force your personal opinion on others. You cannot do that. If I were to advice a first time applicant, my opinion would be NOT more than 2 pages of LOE/SOP (detailed and straight to the point). I want to believe there is a reason why most schools in first world countries include a word limit when they ask you to submit SOP. I believe when you write too much, relevant information is missed, you create more gaps and that could complicate things. If I were to advice someone re-applying, I would want them to address points raised in the GCSM notes and this may lead to 4,5 or even 10 pages of LOE. Major reason why if your SOP is too long, most gurus on this thread always advice you to break them into sections using subheadings. The truth is we have seen a first time applicant on this forum who wrote more than four pages of LOE and got visa. We have also seen applicants without LOE/SOP and still got visas. Most things said on this forum is a combination of facts and personal opinions. At the end of the day, it is left for applicants to make the final decsion on what to do as no word limit was indicated on the CIC website for LOE. |
Alezie:A quick one. Convincing the VO why you are going for another UG via your LOE might be very difficult (not impossible). To make lif easy, why don’t you apply for masters or PG admission in another school (still keep your UG admission), get your visa and when you get to Canada, you change to the previous school for your UG. |
johnsonsegxy:Hahahaha... if CIC should start doing this, applications will take 1 year. Your birth certificate saves them the stress of doing that. |
BVNO:Should you re-apply? The decision is ultimately yours. (1) (a) Introduce yourself and what the letter is about. (b) Why did you choose to study xyz program? what informed that decision? don't just mention it, give an example of a situation that informed that choice. It could be your work experience or a course you took while studying in University. (c) Benefit of the program to YOU and not just general benefits of the course. Most people make this mistake. You can choose 1 or 2 important modules from the program and explain its benefits to you. for example, "Also, two core courses of the xyz program that particularly made me determined to enrol on this program are the 123 and 456. I believe the course 123 would give me the relevant knowledge needed in managing businesses efficiently and ensure better management of resources. The second course, which is the 456, would further give me the necessary skills in ensuring the effective distribution of goods to meet clients. This is particularly important to me because my family business in Nigeria is planning on expanding its base to other locations". (d) why did you choose the school? did someone recommend the school to you? graduates always get job easily on successful completion of the program? you had friends who recommended the school? WHY?. Don't just give general statements like wonderful facilities, go deeper. (e) Why have you decided to study in Canada? (f) are you aware of the responsibilities of an international student? write briefly about it and give examples where you have demonstrated this. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/get-documents.html#doc4 (g) What do you plan to do on the successful completion of your program? relate this to your future goals back in Nigeria. (2) If you are applying outside Canada, make sure any program you choose is similar to what you did in univeristy or a program you have had good working experience. (You can always switch programs or study a completely different program when you get to Canada). (3) Getting a new LOA or admisison is quite easy. speak to your school about it. I pray you will come back here and testify how God did it for you eventually. You can try other countries as well. Finally, Write the content of the letter YOURSELF but get someone to proof read for you. Make sure you get someone very good. |
michelle5567:Wow... are you for real? Wrong passport? Can you imagine? |
hasalau:I responded to your DM already bro. |
Determinedsoul amen to your prayers and you will testify soon in Jesus name (amen). |
5p1naz:Are you sure you called agents the school gave you and all of them insisted on charging you up to 400 Canadian dollars? If you have evidence of this you can report to the school and they will be removed as approved agents of the school. Unfortunately I cannot refer you to any agent as it is against the law of this Forum. Please don’t pay more than 30,000 Naira for admission (I paid 25,000 Naira when I did mine). Fanshawe is not the only college in Canada. |
5p1naz:Fanshawe has about 10 approved agents in Nigeria from the school (I am sure the school gave you a list of all their approved agents). If one agent is charging you too much, call the other one on the list. Tell the agent you were referred to them directly from Fanshawe. You should NOT pay more than 30,000 Naira. When I got my admission last year July, the agent I used said “they were charging me 25,000 Naira because the school referred me to them directly. If it was not from the school, they would have charged me 85,000 Naira” You need to know that these agents actually collect commission from Fanshawe. If after telling the agency that Fanshawe referred you to them, they still ask for 300 + 100 dollars, please send their details to the email listed below. No agent from the school is permitted to charge that much for admission. If you need the list of approved agents by the school, contact the person below or if the agent is over charging you, send her an email.

Damsyangel23:Why withdraw your application after waiting this long? You need your passport for something else? |
odafevwiroro:We are happy to help you bro and welcome to Nairaland. First step, go to the first page of this thread and go through everything. If there is anything you don’t understand, come back here and ask specific questions. |
Ama28:I applied via paper route in Lodnon (July) and got a passport request after 5 weeks. Immediately I got my passport request, packed all my load and moved over to Lagos and submitted my passport for the visa stamp in Lagos. It is the background check that takes time. Once it moves to eligibility review, you will get your response soon. |
fadasss:Your visa only serves as your entry in and out of Canada. It does not tell you the conditions of your permit while schooling. When you travel and get to immigration, you will be issued a study permit. It is on this permit that you will see when to leave Canada after studies, details of how many hours you are allowed to work and places you are allowed to work (on/off campus). |
Stevenssen:It is the institution you will look up if it offers PGWP eligible programs. You can check the CIC link below. Input the province or territory and check if the university or college offers such. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/designated-learning-institutions-list.html Fanshawe is a fantastic school, very massive and they have amazing facilities. If you have the money, great place to be. |
EkpeEkpe:check the link below, it shows you how much you need and all other documents needed for this whole application process or check the first page of this thread. If you go through the link and you still have questions, then come back and ask. God bless you bro. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/get-documents.html#doc3 |
domex007 I am so happy for you. I feel like hugging you. God is faithful. Thanks for sharing this testimony. You tried all these countries and never gave up? your determination is out of this world. Just imagine if you have killed yourself those years you were rejected because you thought that was the end? I always say it, once you are alive, anything can still happen no matter the failures, delays and disappointment you have experienced. Once there is life, there is always hope. congrats lummy11 |
milo9:Check out Conestoga college. I met a girl in school today who spent 1 year at Conestoga before moving over to Fanshawe. Her current fees at Fanshawe is about 2,500 dollars more than what she paid at Conestoga. Also check New Brunswick community college you could end up saving about 3000 dollars. Check colleges in Manitoba,( please make sure they offer PGWP eligible programs) you could end up saving up to 4,000 dollars if you dont mind staying in the cold. All the best. All the best |
Omoarukheo:I just responded. |
Frankrobbn1:Welcome back boss, thanks for the kind words. dubaiboy1 and Clara2244 amen to your prayers. bennyg24 thanks. |
eazyrely:Won’t you go for service? To your question, Very simple. Since you already know the school you would be going to, just check the school website and look for the graduate program you will be going for and check the admission requirements. Create your profile, submit the requirements and get your admission. Getting admission is the first step. |
milo9:I honestly don’t know why Fanshawe wants international students to apply for admission via an agent. Email them and they will refer you to their approved agents in Nigeria. Also, there are cheaper colleges in other provinces that does not require the use of an agent just in case you are trying to save cost. |
Fontmanager1:Manager You can send an email to smalhorta@fanshawec.ca with a copy of your stamped visa OR maybe PPR to request and receive permission.

A very important information for everyone on this thread. When you get to immigration and you get your study permit, please i beg you to quickly scan through and check very well that your permit says you are eligible to work on and off campus. This is very important. When i got my stuidy permit, it was written "only eligible to work on Campus". If I had known that such errors could happen, I would have checked very well before leaving the POE and maybe call the attention of the immigration officer to that error. This was an error from the immigration official and I now have to return my study permit for this to be ammended and may take months for me to get it back. The permit limits me to only on campus jobs (getting a job on campus is challenging but I stay hopeful). I have been in Canada for a month without a job. Trust me, if you have ever lived abroad, you don't want to go months without working except your parents are very rich. As i continue my journey in Canada, any other thing i find useful, i will post here. |
makano:I actually don't see anything wrong in what makano said. If you gained from this thread or not, a guest or registered user, please drop your profile so that it helps others. The aim is to help. The God that helped you, put you in that position to help others. In UK, the Pakistans have dominated that country for a reason. In my orientation yesterday I could barely count 10 blacks but the Asians were in hundreds. The reason is simple, they help each other, move in groups and share information. God bless us all. |
Asapant:Bro I have responded to your mail. cheers. |
Asapant:No vex bro. Next time if you need anything urgently just mention me on this thread, I check this thread more than my nairaland mail. No need to resend. I still have it in my mail so will respond to that stuff this evening (Canadian time), so you should get it before 8am tomorrow morning (Nigerian time). Sorry for the wait. |
Asapant:Asapant abeg no vex as I see your message now, I remembered I promised to help out on some stuff. Have you sorted it out? Please let me know if you still require any help. The nairaland mail is not my frequent mail so most times I don’t log into it, reason why I forgot. Fanshawe should give acceptance letter 2 weeks Max. |
Fontmanager1:I am a student of Fanshawe and we had orientation today and lecture starts tomorrow. Quickly send a mail to international department so they can give you an extension sharply. Let them know you have gotten a PPR. Submit your passport ASAP. If you need any help when you are in London, let me know. |
