Christycode:If after paying your fees you still have 5M in your mum's SOA, that's perfect. Before paying your fees, please read your schools return policy. I think there should be tenancy agreement between your mum and her tenant's, please ask her. Attach receipt to show payment of fees. Also, make sure you attach proof of your mums source of funds (is she into business or paid employment? just show proof). You finished secondary school in 2017 right? Make sure there is a structure to your LOE and get someone to proof read it (very important). P.S Like I said, you are on track and having your mum sponsor you is very good, you just need to get those documents I mentioned earlier and you are good to go. Before you submit your next application, you can list all the documents you plan to submit here to be sure you are on track (Do NOT PM anyone including me, ask your questions here). All the best. |
obainojazz:Good evening, you can submit both, if you feel like (no crime). When I did mine, I submitted just a letter from my sponsor. |
Christycode:You mentioned someone applied with 4M and got visa for same program but please know that circumstances differ and flow of cash in SOA might influence VO's decisions. Please note, GCMS not is very important but If you are pressed for time and cannot wait for GCMS note, this is what I will do. You are on track and your documents are good but please do the following; (1) What does your mum do? Attach proof (2) 5M is not enough - 12,000CAD + 10,000 is much more than 5M. I will get a second sponsor OR show that my mum has other sources of income and I will attach proof (does she have tenants?). Cash flow is important as well. I think I read it somewhere on this thread you have siblings... (3) I will suggest you pay your fees but please check your school return policy before making payment. (4) I will let my mother write a very good sponsorship letter and you proof read for errors (get someone to proof read for you). I personally suggest 500 words (1 page). (5) I will write LOE detailing WHY I chose nursing. Please don't just write I have a passion for nursing but explain WHY you chose the course (Don't just say because you want to save lives, give an example or a short story), the benefits of this course to your short and long term goals and gaps this course can fill in Nigeria. Please get someone to proof read for errors when you are done. P.S your dad is late, so sorry about that. Did he die in a hospital ? That could be your story on why you decided to study Nursing. You can do all of the above, submit by end of this month and hopefully get your visa before fall. Please if you cannot do all of the above before the end of this month, I suggest you defer till January and apply for your GCMS note so you can take your time to address all concerns. |
Omonoba1981:You don't need to travel except you have other things to do in Nigeria. You can submit at the VFS office in Miami. In most cases, you can submit Canada study permit passport request to the nearest VFS office where you reside any where in the world. I applied for my study permit in UK, got my passport request in UK, packed my bags and submitted passport request in Lagos, Nigeria. |
Big congrats Kez911 and Omonoba1981 |
sillysassysally:So happy for you, Congrats. |
congrats 042viber |
hollah123:Are you for real? Akpororo better than Bovi? |
Freeworld321:I am coming to Dundas street tomorrow after my exams, so we should see. Welcome bro. P.S London is fast becoming home to so many Nigerian students and those with PR. |
powerblessing:Your visa can still be approved without the New LOA. Please I beg you, don't withdraw your application. I read reasons why you want to withdraw. If it is the same UK I once lived and studied, I know for sure that you can get visa approval within 15 days (if you have the money, you will get visa within 5 days or same day) and you can get admission to most schools in UK within 5 days. Infact, their admission and visa process is not stressful because they want your money. If I were you, I will wait (even if it means me waiting till January next year to study in UK, God forbid, if the Canada visa does not come through) to see what happens with this Canada application. You have waited for 10 months, please see it through. I am positive you will get it. Is it the same UK that students are looking for ways to run from? Personally, I will not advise anyone to study in UK, if the plan is to stay back after studies. Staying for 1 year to study in Canada is worth it, yes Canadian visa is worth the wait. However, if your plan is to study and come back to Naija , then withdraw your application and go to UK. Masters is even 1 year or 16 months in UK. P.S UK visa is the probably the easiest student visa in the world, you are 90% guaranteed getting it. You can go there anytime. The decision is yours. God bless. |
Emmyirab:Sure, I might be slow with my response but I will eventually. Exams started. |
Nellykuch:Is he coming in May? Fanshawe will give him 2 days accommodation in a hotel. Someone already shared Kijiji link with you, he can have a look and make appointments close to departure date and physically inspect them on arrival. If he arrives London and does not get a house within 2 days of staying in the Fanshawe free accommodation and still needs extra time, I can accommodate him for free for extra 3 days till he gets his own apartment (This is if he is coming alone). |
Emmyirab:Aww, they are making you do a study permit all over again or study permit extension. Are you sure you wont pay for this application? The process I told you was simply study permit amendment and it is free. Its all good, just do what your school says. |
msmodi:Oh sorry, just seeing this now. Responded. |
sleekysoft:Ontario dey fine, exams period. PM sent. |
Emmyirab:For the transcript, confirm from international department of your school if it is very important. I think the transcript is just to show you have enrolled in your program. You can't use WAEC. When I printed off my transcript, there was no grade, it only listed the courses I would be doing. You can apply for transcript anytime even just a day after classes. I don't think you can use school ID (my school's international department said I could not, please confirm with your school) You may have to apply for the ID of your province if you don't have Driver's license. All you need is a photocopy. P.S All documents you need to submit are listed at the back of the IMM form. |
Henkubert:Big Congrats. |
adel3951:He needs those conditions on his study permit. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/work-off-campus.html |
Emmyirab:Was anything written in the remarks or observation section at the very end of your study permit? Check very carefully again. To amend your study permit, you will need to fill a form on CIC website called "request to amend record of landing, confirmation of permanent residence or valid temporary resident permit" and then attach documents below; 1) Original study permit 2) Two photo IDs (photocopy of passport and driver license). In my own case, I did not have a drivers license so I used Ontario ID card - I had to apply for this card (paid for it). It took almost 5 weeks to get this card. 3) Letter of admission 4) Official transcript 5) Student account statement - (I do not think this is necessary except you have paid your fees. Please confirm with your school's international department) The documents listed above was what the international office of my school (Fanshawe college) asked me to submit with the IMM form (Please confirm with your school for guidance before submitting yours). Once you have all the documents, you will then send those documents via mail (the address is on the IMM form). How long does it take to get the study permit amended? 1 month. P.s For all those who recently got their Visa's, when you get to immigration and you collect your study permit, don't be in a rush, stay in front of the immigration officer and read through your study permit carefully line by line and make sure you see it is clearly written you are allowed to work ON/OFF campus (I have shared my experience here before). If there is anything you are not sure of in the study permit, ask him/her for explanations right there. Also, please check for date of expiration on your study permit (make sure this date is at least days/months past your program end date). Once you leave the border, Amending your study permit is not guaranteed because CIC may choose not to amend it and you may be in Canada not working for a long time. You don't even want to experience this. The way I was drinking Garri (winter period), eating beans and indomie on a steady for London ON, I no wish am for anybody. By the time you have spent money buying mattress, pillow, duvet, cloths, some house stuff and then pay rent (for first and last month), your account would have been screaming. Staying without work for months is not something you want to experience in a land where you don't know anyone except you are rich. All the best. |
Qudkom:It is sad that processing times for Nigerian applications take like forever but the conditions are different. Do you know that these Indians MUST pay the 10,000CAD for maintenance directly to CIC and then when they get to Canada, they open an account and CIC pay these students monthly (similar to what is done in Germany)? I think that is one of the reasons they have faster processing times. Also, most of these Indians have access to loans, CIC trust the institutions giving them these loans. If Nigerians are asked to compulsorily pay 10,000CAD to CIC and probably make part payment to schools for fees, the number of applicants will reduce drastically. |
abbycole930:Hello bro, I noticed you sent me a message. Unfortunately, I cannot respond to Nairaland mails at the moment because exams start next week. You can ask your questions here and they will help out. You have nothing to worry about. All the best bro. |
abbycole930:You are on track bro, I am currently in Fanshawe college doing a PGC as well. I hope the course you want to study in college is similar to your BSc degree. Play your part by reading through this thread to know all the documents required, have faith and leave the rest to God. Timothyphillips thanks for the mention boss. |
Congrats Austacus, I am so happy for you, God is the greatest. You have been so helpful on here, God bless you. You shall share many more testimonies of God's greatness in your life in Jesus name (amen). |
sleekysoft:Honestly International students are rich ... I am just here wondering how people do it. People pay about 16,000CAD (in colleges) x 2 = 32,000CAD (8 months program back to back). There is a Nairalander here who attends UWO and pays 30,000CAD for just 12 months taught masters (about 8.5M). This is without accommodation and feeding money. Honestly, international students dey try. How many people can afford this? An Indian friend told me most of them get student loans with interest. I wish Nigerian banks can do that as well for students. God help us |
MtTee:Then 3.5M is not enough. You know the solution bro, there is no need for confusion. |
MtTee:Have you paid your fees? This will determine how much should be in your Uncle's account. What is the confusion about? |
Senatorkolade:I am also positive that application will be approved. |
Qudkom:You have spoken well. Let me add, the processing time on the CIC website is average processing time. Each application is unique. Is it normal that an application stays for 1 year, hell NO. Whatever anyone is experiencing in the form of delay, submitting almost 20 documents (which is even outrageous), going through so much stress are mere symptoms. The problem is Nigeria has failed us (bad reputation) and its citizens (I am on this table as well) are not helping matters as well. Do you know some students arrive Canada and don't go to school? Do you honestly think this will not affect future students when they apply for their visas and ultimately increase wait times? For those of us in Canada, let us try to be good ambassadors not just for our families but for the sake of our country. Those waiting for their visas should also represent the country well when they arrive so that those coming behind will find it easy to crossover. God help us. |
042viber12:My brother, you are doing a good job on this forum, God will bless you. Always look at the big picture. You have waited for about 40 weeks and you want to spoil it all with a nasty message to the VO/CIC? To what end? I am not saying do not communicate how you feel to them but sending a nasty or rude message is a NO NO. You can let them know how this wait has affected you psychologically and so forth but please be polite. Please sleep well tonight, tomorrow and maybe take some days off Nairaland and do something outside to have fun before you send any message to CIC. How can you let this anger go? Thank God daily for having the opportunity to apply to Canada, it is a rare privilege only few will have in life. Any pain you are feeling now, the moment you get that visa, you will forget it. Hold on bro, please hold on. I am very positive you are coming to Canada very soon, you will get your visa and you will share your testimony here but please don't let anger prevent you from reaching the promise land. God bless. |
IbikunleBukky:Thanks for sharing the link. However, I must say it is a very difficult one to convince the visa officer. For example, you go on a visit to UK (visitors visa is usually for pleasure, tourism or medicals) and then all of a sudden, you changed your mind while in the UK on that same visa and decided to go and study in Canada and then you fill your application, submit inside UK. Think about it. I will never say it is impossible but it is a difficult one. This is my opinion. I rest my case on this issue. |
Awuuga:Welcome bro to the land of opportunities. God be with you bro. |
