You don't understand the Dynamics. It would be hypocritical of him to bring in any candidate from Edo North after his own term considering he's from their too. And 2016 is not 2024. The bulk of votes is from Edo south and PDP is going to pick someone from the central. Normally Edo central don't like Oshiomole or APC, so they won't get any vote from that side. It's pointless picking a candidate from the central.
So the only way they could possibly win is to pick someone from Edo south where the bulk of voters are and then get a large chunk of votes from Edo North and that's it.

Benin people would likely go for the PDP man from Edo central if APC doesn't pick a candidate from Benin. If that senator from Edo central becomes the candidate him and Ighodalo would split votes in esan. It would left for Benin to decide I don't see Benin people voting APC except their son is on the ballot.

The PDP aspirant, Asue is a well-known personality within leadership, corporate and government spheres with successes in virtually all his engagements, not just within Nigeria, but globally. Even constantly engaged at the National level irrespective of political party or affiliation; he was the chair of the Economic sovereign team in a previous administration.

These are pluses for the State, rather than an individual with baggage of fraud, even at the international level. These are even potential leverages the likes of oshiomhole would use against him when he resists being controlled like a puppet.

A lot of Edo South delegates voted for Sen Okpebholo, as Edo Central delegates also voted for Denco and others; voting patterns were mixed as usual, but hope uzodimma proceeded to make an announcement different from what the REC made.

Another candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress governorship primary election in Edo on Saturday.

The Returning Officer, Stanley Ugboaja, declared Okpebholo the winner with 12,145 votes.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who is also the chairman of the APC primary election committee, had earlier declared a House of Representatives member, Dennis Idahosa, the winner of the primary election at the Protea Hotel.

However, Ugboaja said he was the right person to announce the result while declaring Okpebholo the winner.

“I am the right person to declare the results of this primary election but unfortunately I was not allowed to finish the announcement. We will continue the announcement here (Ize-Iyamu residence).

“Having scored the highest number of votes, I hereby declare Senator Okpebholo the winner of the election,” he added.

However, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Peter Uwadiae, described the announcement by Uzodimma as illegal and urged the party hierarchy and APC members to disregard the governor’s action.

Edo South (the largest portion) has 46.5% of the total votes. And that's not even the critical factor as Edos are not fighting against one another; Popular opinion amongst Edolites today is a call for fairness from all zones.

Oshiomhole will simply learn another new political lesson as better qualified candidates with credible track records and repute will be presented and supported on other platforms.

Oshiomhole is terrible in politics. Vindictive and non-calculative. He'll cause a loss for APC in Edo once again.

This misadventure he's embarking upon would leave the political reputation of Denco terribly damaged as well, just as he did to Iyamu.
