As expected. He was advised since last year. He think say this one na local agberoism. |
Rubbish |
See this one. As Uzo come Edo announce nonsense, this one come take the joke seriously. |
Lumarstone:BRAC don dey tey, tey! They just don't make noise. Tranquill:😂😂 D tin weak me JASONjnr:Edo (Bendel) was in the Western Region. |
Slytiger: Alba3:And Prof Ambrose Folorunso Alli was Esan (Edo Central). Olumide is from Benin, Edo South, not even Akoko Edo as some people may erroneously assume. Edos have such names from all parts of the State. It's those without knowledge of Edo who are making noise online. saddler:One of the strongest contestants in LP is Hon. Sergius Ogun who is Esan (Edo Central). I guess if he was the candidate, you would have told him to return to Ogun or Ondo. Hon John Yakubu who stepped down and endorsed Asue is Esan. Olumide Akpata is a bona fide Bini man. When it's the turn of Edo South and he gets the governorship candidature under any political platform, he would get widespread support provided he remains credible. The major groups in Edo are the Afemai, Esan and Bini and have the same origin. |
Obidients na registered party members? |
ednut1:It has nothing to do with his name. A lot of Edos answer such names. We've had past governors with such names from different parts of the State. When it's the turn of Edo South, and he aspires, you'd see the support. Besides, in terms of qualifications/competence candidates such as Asuen Ighodalo are very strong contenders. Even if LP zoned it to Edo Central and presented a candidate with a similar name, the emphasis would be on antecedence, competence and qualifications. |
Goodvibes007:In Edo, Rotation between the senatorial zones for Governorship, and even between LGAs for Legislative roles has always been practised for fairness and equity. That's why naturally, Edolites would look forward to candidates from the expected senatorial zone, except occasionally there may be a consensus by the zone or area to cede it to another in order to support a preferred candidate. This is a major reason for the voting pattern seen in the last presidential election. Even though the LP candidate was from a different geopolitical zone, he still enjoyed significant support from Edo. I am yet to see any Edolite who has insulted or disparaged our brother Olumide Akpata. Apart from having relatively stronger candidates in the PDP and APC, it's a general consensus our rotational pattern is adhered to. This is another illustration why the argument of 'competence' over 'rotation for equity' is flawed. ALL zones have competent people, Equity is paramount! Yusuf, for instance, despite being an obidient, knows it's the turn of Edo Central and very credible candidates have been presented from the zone. He has pledged to support one candidate from the zone based on these principles, not necessarily because he is Esan. No one is playing tribal politics in Edo. What you see on social media is an attempt to infuse the external obidient/Agbadorian mumu fight into Edo politics which would gain no attention from anyone here. |
Tonytonex:The North are the most likely to agree. You'd be surprised those likely to resist it are the politically myopic South especially the West and East who live to sabotage one another. If the North never considered such principle, another Northerner would have been president today. |
Justiceleague1:Assuming the North were insanely illogical as you assume, Tinubu for no smell presidency. Even Ahmed Lawan would have taken over from Buhari, not to talk of Atiku (Because retaining power in the North would have mattered most irrespective of competence). Thankfully, we had Northern leaders who insisted it should move to the South. The Pros of zoning would far outweigh the cons. When a zone knows it potentially has 40 years to produce candidates, the wheat will definitely be separated from the chaff. And even after emergence, the enormous expectations in terms of performance would provide no room for mediocrity, as non-performers would been thrown out to shorten the waiting time for other zones. |
The bill is a fair one. Many Countries operate under such laws and principles and are very peaceful and prosperous. The problem we have in Nigeria today is a growing culture of GREED. Even in individual lives and communities. Thankfully, there are some States who have operated under such principle at the State level and LGA level, but this is increasingly threatened by certain greedy politicians who even benefited from such setting in the first place. In Nigeria, there are 6 geopolitical zones; each zone has at least five States. In consideration of Presidential election, it is illogical and disingenuous to state or assume no qualified or suitable candidate exists in the whole region or zone to lead the Country. In addition to the fact that a president, no matter how qualified cannot lead the Country in isolation as the Legislative and Judicial arms of government would provide checks and balances, constitutional provisions would guide even the composition of the executives. So how would a region after waiting through the turns of 5 others, eventually present a set of unsuitable candidates? I can assure you, if such law was in place prior to 2015 and the NW had its turn, Buhari would most likely not have emerged. With such arrangement, we would have a more functional Legislative and Judiciary as only the most suitable would be elected to represent the people from various constituencies around the Country and there would be effective checks and balances between the arms of government. Such arrangement would eliminate ethnic politics and sentiments. We can see what happened in the last general elections. Once it is the turn of a zone, the best aspirants and candidates from any part of the zone would throw their hats in and it would be left for the electorates to decide. Imagine the last elections was contested between the likes of BAT, Osinbajo, Akinwunmi Adesina etc. At the end of the process, there would be no lingering sentiments as we see today and everyone would focus on nation building. What we have today is a padi-padi setup as only those who have secured places in power aim to rotate all arms of government amongst themselves indefinitely. This bill is a good one and has far-reaching effects, even in the direction of restructuring. |
Kapeter:Ehhehhnn? Abeg where is Mc Oluomo? Make he make anoda announcement for the Elupees. ![]() On a serious note, Edos look out for the best candidate irrespective of party. |
oluztx:I am Edo and what you wrote are just imaginations and wishful thinking of the likes of Nnamdi Kanu and Ekpa, feeding some of their gullible followers. Edos are a distinct people and the fact remains there has always been a close relationship with the 'Yorubas' (who are also made up of distinct groups/tribes). The only argument amongst a few who have the time for such would be centered around which of the groups were the original progenitors. I personally see that as a total waste of time as it provides no exclusive benefit or makes anyone lesser than the other. So because someone like Oshiomhole doesn't 'look like Igbo' (whatever that means), you assumed he was not Afemai, but Bini. |
hedeybody:Yes |
oluztx: ![]() Show me someone who does not know Edo talking about the Edos. Who fed you with this fiction that there are different types of Edos? The Ikas in Edo are part of Edo South - Binis; (where you call Yoruba part). All the names you mentioned come from Edo Central and North. And you'll find even more people with such names from these areas. (Note, Blessing Okagbere is Urhobo). And absolutely NO, there are no different types of Edos, they all are the same people. Igodomigodo has been an ancient name for the whole of Edo, and has nothing to do with Igbo blood. There was never any invasion and conquer of the Igodomigodos in order to instill the traditions and leadership system which exist up till today. Historically, there was notable influence from the Nupes on Edo North and Central. Ensure you have facts before commenting on public fora. Thankfully, we'll be having the Edo Museum where you can learn facts and not rely on fables. |
Very well. The Dollar Index set to tank to around 100.5 May take up to two months though. |
Edo State All Progressives Congress Youth leader, Tony Adun, has apologised to the party for leading youths and women to vandalise the secretariat after the first primary election on February 17, which threw up three winners. The crowd who were led by Adun, popularly known as Kabaka, forced their way into the offices and brought out the furniture, bags of rice and other equipment, vowing to stay at the building for seven days or till the state executive council is dissolved. Adun said that they were protesting the conduct of the officials at the primary election, noting that it was obvious the exco worked against the party. The protest came after the Chairman of the Electoral Committee of the primary, Governor Hope Uzodimma announced Dennis Idahosa as the winner, while the returning officer, Stanley Ugboaja, declared Monday Okpebholo as the winner. Also, Ojo Babatunde, who claimed to be representing the returning officers in all the local government, declared Anamero Dekeri as the winner of the election. With the confusion, the National Working Committee of the party ordered a rerun on February 22 under the Chairmanship of Governor Bassey Otu of Cross Rivers State, who replaced Uzodimma as the head of the electoral committee for the election. After the exercise, Okpebholo was declared the winner with 12,433 votes to defeat Idahosa, who scored 6,541 votes. Adun, in a viral video and a statement on Sunday, apologised to the leaders of the party in the state. He said, “I, Comrade Tony Kabaka, the state youth leader of the APC, wish to apologise to our leaders, women leaders of our great party and all our youths as regards the conduct of aggrieved APC youths during the party primary which took place on the 17th February 2024. “The party is supreme, I will work with the party and leaders to ensure that our candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is victorious and I wish to use this medium to congratulate him on his victory at the just concluded party primary. “I want to urge all youths to embrace peace and let us all work together to make sure we succeed in the general elections come September 2024, I remain a loyal party man. “I wish to use this opportunity to appeal to our state chairman, Jarret Tenebe, and state secretary, Lawrence Okah, and other members of the state working committee to lead us to rebuild the party and bring all of us together to ensure our party produce the next governor in the elections.” https://punchng.com/edo-apc-youth-leader-makes-a-u-turn-backs-gov-candidate/

But the dollar itself is expected to lose strength in the coming weeks. (From analysis of the markets). |

youneedjesus:Who's dat? phemmie06:No court case anywhere. Shuaibu's just fooling himself. PaulH07:Na bona fide Edo man. |
Crase The deputy governor faulted the primary that produced Ighodalo, saying that it was organised by the state party executive instead of the national executive of the partyNever knew the governors of Zamfara and Delta were part of Edo State party executives. Something's definitely wrong with this guy. The NWC even published names of delegates in 2 National dailies. This guy na clown abeg. E good as he show which kain pesin e be. Days of agbero politics by semi-educated touts are over in Edo. |
NzogbuNzogbu:Mr fix it! |
Good |
The only one revelling in confusion is the writer in the so-called DailyPost. The NWC, Electoral Committee (including the chairman), INEC, Elected Delegates and co-aspirants converged at the proposed venue for the Primaries, conducted it maturely and produced a candidate. While one individual, first thing in the morning proceeded to 'conduct' a mock primary in his bedroom and announced himself winner. What is confusing that one in the DailyPost? Isn't it obvious this is a clear case of Severe Desperation which may tilt to something else? |
Parydelegate:He claims he brought Oshiomhole into politics; if you notice, they display the same pattern of mumuness. |
Good |
airsaylongcome:The person you quoted isn't even from Edo. |
Confam! |
This desperado is on his own. Omosede Igbinedion just endorsed and stepped down for Dr Asue ighodalo |
