seunmsg: What will the sack of Adamu achieve? Is Adamu the problem or the system?
This is not the time to go on a witch-hunt or push irrelevant political agenda. We should be demanding for a comprehensive reform of the Nigeria police force and not personalizing the issues. The police wasn’t different under southern IGPs like Smith, Okiro, Onovo, Arase etc. Let’s face the real issue of reform and stop chasing shadows. Multiple petitions have been written to this IGP with no response, no action. It only took the events in the last few days for him to act. What reform are you expecting from such person? The only reform needed is those in authority being answerable to their inefficiency and replaced with persons ready to make a better Nigeria. He can go join the previous IGPs wherever they are, that's none of our business! This Country MUST be rescued from these misfits. |

The Police Force should have dedicated units or departments which would have supervisory, advisory and corrective roles, overseeing the activities of the force from ensuring transparent recruitment processes up to ensuring strict adherence to codes of conduct of personnel at their points of duty. This format must be applied in all MDAs/civil service. That's when we'll begin to make any headway in this Country.
Just like the just dissolved SARS, virtually ALL civil service offices are burdened by the cancer of shady recruitment processes, leading to cult-like running of these offices with insane levels of impunity. This has been the bane of our system in Nigeria.
A key aspect of the reform of the entire civil service must involve a systematic infusion of qualified individuals through fair and transparent processes with the removal of inefficient and questionable characters. |

99thEnemy: Almost same thing with Benue State University medical students,
Their most senior set in final year currently started in 2010. They can have like 3 sets in one class.
The First set to graduate in medicine in 2015 stayed 10 years through school, same with all others that followed. then imagine those that have been repeating.
This year they were supposed to graduate two sets, they graduated one and the other one couldn't finish up to graduated later because of covid-19 The average duration of medical school in Nigeria is 9 to 10 years. Many of your peers graduate and even complete masters programs while med students would be preparing for exams. I spent 9 years in med school. My younger sibling also spent 9 years in another med school in the Country. |

PrinceMajestic: After banning SARS from their routine patrol, stop and search what else would any youth want with a protest again? presidency already made good move and also the IGP of police. So embarking on protest is complete stupidity and insanity. You wanna protest that cyber crime should be legal? What else do you want again? If govt didn't respond to the complaints its a different thing, but that's not the case here. Govt could have ignored the complains and still deny you right to protest and you cannot do anything except social media rants. To now even think that a musician as irresponsible as that is the one leading protest is evident that all 99% of those killed by SARS are criminals and 99% of end SARS people are criminals. Shame on you, Nigeria govt already legalize internet fraud for you guys, why still worrying? Later you say boko haram, bandits, armed robbers are evil but you are all the same evil people. Congrats to you guys as your govt legalizes cyber crime for you. This is not just about scrapping SARS, definitely the unit would be reviewed. Secondly, SARS are not mandated to fight cyber crime as they are not trained cyber crime experts. Stopping people randomly on the roads, searching their phones and account balance and extorting them is pure madness and armed robbery. Thirdly, this protest is to demand a STOP to the shady methods of recruitment into government-run offices. Apart from the NPF, the Country is bedevilled by similar predicaments in basically all sectors. Recruitments must be based on merit, transparency and equity. |
Politics › Re: Sunday Dare Urges Naira Marley Not Protest, Says The Issue Is being Addressed by NaMe4: 6:33am On Oct 06, 2020 |
Stupid headline. The minister only appealed to him and the Nigerian youth. No place where anyone was dared.
The protest must go as planned to show the youth are resolute on the demand of scrapping that unit of the police force which has been packed full with criminals.
Also, merit, transparency and fairness must be adhered to by the NPF in the process of recruitment of personnel, as it's done in other parts of the world. Our shady ways of doing things (including recruitments), always comes around to bite everyone in the ass! |

They just can't start harassing everyone with such apps in their phones. That's senseless! Anyway, the aim of the SARS is primarily to extort. Funny thing is the Yahoo guys sort them regularly to get them off heir backs. Most of the videos you see on SM involve innocent victims. |

It's uncalled for that you just kill people especially people in the west and south. I would say it again they can't try this with Northern youths ! Southerners wake up they're killing your children right before your very eyes. I am lending my voice because I have siblings everywhere! We owe this government one protest just one and they'd sit up. How can my freedom be publicly infringed and declared useless? O wrong nau . If you decide to keep quiet remember, just remember e fit be you. My sister. Very correct. SARS madness ends in the South. They can never try all that nonsense in the North. I can imagine a Northern youth being shot point blank by these robbers, they'd be lynched on the spot! But on this thread, I can even see a few Southern youth forming 'political gladiators', attacking Atiku and Saraki for voicing out on a very critical issue as this. |

smallsmall: To treat her is a choice the hospital made! If they cant, they can stabilise her and refer her to a Govt Hospital but once they made the decision to treat her, then they have taken on responsibility and must be accountable. How does all the above that you wrote, JUSTIFY KIDNAPPING someone and her baby for 7months? When did Hospitals become Prisons?
You either dont do or you do properly. In such emergency situation, the hospital most likely would have been assured of full payment after the surgery. They also played their role by carrying out the surgery to ensure the mother and baby were hale and hearty, probably without receiving initial payment. Still a sad situation for the lady and her baby though. Except there are psycho-social reasons the lady is being kept in the hospital, I would suggest the hospital lets her go and count their losses (though such losses which undeniably would be recurrent in such a society like this would affect proper running of the facility and quality of care) |
