SmartPolician: Akuko
In a country where 80% of the population do not make up to $2 per day, increasing prices will only send ShopRite (or its later name) to its untimely death.
Notice that most Nigerians preferred to buy things in local markets until ShopRite came in and changed the game with their relatively affordable prices and good shopping experience.
Nigerians are veryyyyyyyy poor and the government has not done enough to create a much broader middle class that can patronize those malls in the face of price hikes My brother, you just stated facts. Going by comments on this topic, it's obvious a lot of Nigerians are oblivious of what it takes to run a successful business in Nigeria. The spending power of the population is quite low, and has had a steady plunge in the last 5 years. Unfriendly government policies do not help either. |

Politics › Re: Ikwerre Are Not Igbos, BRACED Counters Amaechi's Claim That Ikwerres Are Igbos by NaMe4: 11:32am On Aug 02, 2020 |
Alfaab: I don't know why some natives other than Igbos and Ikwerre will continue to stoke the fire of division between these two groups. There are some people in IMO state who migrated from Ile Ife in Osun state...they were formerly Yorubas....but after decades of sojourn in Igboland, they have taken up the identity of Igbo's.They have accepted to being Igbos. My take is...what do the majority of the Ikwerres chose for themselves? If they chose Igbo, then they are Igbos. Very true! But what seems to be the problem between the 'minority' Tribes and the Igbos is - rather than the Igbos who migrated take up the identity of the indigenous tribes, preserve their languages and culture, they (Igbos) make attempts to Change the identity of the indigenous people. The people who migrated from Ile-Ife to Imo did not claim parts of Imo as Yoruba Land or enforced the Yoruba language or traditions on the indigenes of the location where they settled, rather, over generations, they've identified as Igbos and promoted the Igbo culture. |
Politics › Re: Nnamdi KANU : Ubiaja In Esan South East Edo Is Igbo Land -photo by NaMe4: 7:48am On Aug 02, 2020*. Modified: 12:58pm On Aug 02, 2020 |
Igbos are the most 'migrated' people in Nigeria.
I assure you in the remotest villages in the North, you will find Igbo settlers there, doing their business. Some have even contested and held local political/leadership posts in these places and lived in peace.
Over time, they have migrated, settled, intermarried and have grown from generation to generation within these locations. There are parts of Benue, Kogi, Delta, Rivers, etc with high population of Igbos.
Ideally, through naturalisation and being citizens of Nigeria, they are free to claim origin from these places, contest for any position freely and fairly and have equal rights as any other citizen.
This does not change the fact that these places (villages, LGAs or even States) have Aboriginal Indigenes with their history, culture and languages which should be respected and preserved.
The recent attempts by certain individuals such as this clownu guy, to twist history or subdue traditions of the indigenous people of certain regions is highly disrespectful.
I think people like this Nnamdi Kanu should not be considered as the voice of the Igbo people. From my observation, he only ends up embarrassing them anytime he speaks or acts.
And regarding this topic, I have NEVER heard of any Igbo-speaking part of Edo or Esan. The Esans have their well-known History, Language and traditions. If there are any rising numbers of Igbo migrants/settlers in any part of the land, they are free to identify as Esans and respect and preserve the Esan language, culture. And NEVER make attempts to change the identity of the Esans. |

This case with its recent development will be presented to all relevant organisations and bodies world-wide since we have misfits in our judiciary system. |

fabolouz1: something is still fishy and no carefully twisted English will quench my doubt that this is a hurriedly concocted statement. The father was said to have spoken with her for long periods till around 1pm( how then was she charging her phone?) The vehicle hit her at the rear and drove over her( isn't the face the part of the body to be smashed ?) who were present at the scene of the accident ? blood samples and pictures of the vehicle ? Her phone log should be reviewed to ascertain the veracity of NAF. This is Nigeria ,it will be sweet under the carpet and the family will be left to rue where they have gone wrong . |
