tomakint: huh huh huh wao I have to withdraw my earlier comments about you, now I have a buddy in you! Indeed nothing can be like the 80s (I hope we have a gentle agreement on that), as for you still retaining those turntables, big discs, and the likes gives me a big thrill, I love that! I have an article to that; https://www.nairaland.com/1026662/good-80s-just-what-taste Anything from the disco era down to the funky beats are all my passion! I love good music, you will recall nas made mention of something lie. 'hip hop is dead', you will still agree with me that the death of tupac and biggy nailed the coffin of 'real rap'! There was indeed 'renaissance in the music industry in the 80s' don't get me wrong i listen too to songs in the 60s, 70s and even till date, thats why a tuface, an Asa, a nigga raw, and few others (of course minus a d'banj wink) still catch my fantasy in Naija hip hop industry! Wao, I think there I have a friend in you musically, I like your taste of musical collections (except for that guy, trust me I have to be sincere with you D'banj is doing fine as a person for himself, family and fans - I am not hating!) but he doesn't just fill in to my type of 'list of real musicians'. To me, his songs is too wack, for my listening pleasure! So, no more trading of insults, at least I share your passion on this! wink
I now av a buddy in U too. I just read d thread U referred me to and I must say that,it is a good writeup on d wonderful memories of d 80s

Well,I understand ur stance wrt D'banj and I was never against that. For me,I like him because,he is hardworking, intelligent and he perfectly understands what d market demands. I also love his consistency.

Just like U, I love music and av a wide library.Infact, for me to av been born in d 80s and still av collections of d songs of d 80s and beyond shuld give u an idea abt my love for music. One thing I learnt from listening to a wide genre is that, each genre of music has it's own special philosophy.E.g U can never get an 'it's time for party' song in Country music just as U can hardly get a song that teaches abt life from hip-hop.

It will surprise U to know that I give every Artiste a fair hearing and go as far as getting their albulms even if people say, they are wack etc.E.g,I av 2 albums of sky B(the guy dat sang MA BEBE).I av from Sample Ekwe,Danfo Drivers and almost all Nigerian Artistes. If I open my drawer for U,U go fear o.lolz.I also have a lot of works from Classical musicians like Bethoven, Yanni etc.

I av such a voracious appetite for music and my love for it seems insatiable. Even though I listen to all genres, I av a bias for CONTEMPROARY JAZZ, NEW AGE AND AFROBEATS.

I just hope we hook up someday so we can share our collections if U are in Lagos. It's great fun watching that turn table roll.lolz. CHEERS!!!!

tomakint: The 80s will go down in modern history as the years of RENAISSANCE IN MUSIC no doubt! There is no country in the world that did not have a fair share (besides United States that had more than a share) of musical geniuses’ ambassadors especially in the 80s. The 80s gave us the highest selling album of all time (over 110 million copies sold till date) in the history of modern music, Thriller, a pop-genre music by Michael Jackson (of blessed memory) a black man, produced by another black man, Quincy Jones (a man with a record 79 Grammy nominations)! The 80s was the era of smashing hits cascading into the planet in an unprecedented manner never before seen; little wonder the adage, “nothing like the 80s”! From disco (although evolved in the late 60s but blossomed in the mid 70s till date), pop, blues, funk, rock, rap, jazz, soul, world beats, reggae down to country music it was hits galore that serenaded Mother Earth!

The waves of pop competing rigorously with disco and reggae was indeed at an alarming rate. To be the best, you have to beat the best was the order of the day! Lyrical contents, video deliveries (include dance steps, costumes and choreographies), synchronization of beats, rhymes, videos messages (contents were self-explanatory), richness of melodies, all add glamour and senses to how good music should be made. Originalities were seriously considered as a must in the production of music. For those of us who witnessed the 80s will remember that Radio Lagos and Lagos Television (LTV) was a regular in keeping us (the listeners) in tuned with the latest hits across the globe from the United States, United Kingdom, Caribbean, Jamaica, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, down to Africa. It was the era Music made sense!

Looking at music now, you are almost concluding that what is happening to good music? It’s all decorated noise in the name of music, they are tasteless, no flavor especially Nigerian music in the name of Naija hip-hops, pack them together it’s almost (if not all) piece of gibberish. It’s all about girls, girls, lewdnesses in videos, mediocrities in all spheres, no reasonable lyrical contents but incoherent and almost baseless beats. Indeed, cacophonies have been used to represent real music. You are almost asking yourself where are the, King Sunny Ades, Ebenezer Obeys, Felas, Kollington Ayinlas, Sikiru Ayinde Barristers, KWAM 1s, Onyeka Onwenus, Evi Edna Ogholis, Christy Essien Igbokwes, Orlando Julius Ekemodes, Ayinla Omowuras, Victor Olaiyas, Oliver de Coques, Sonny Okosuns, Osadebes, Funmi Davies, Funmi Aragbaiyes, Veno Marioghaes, the Mandators, Dizzy K. Falolas, Princess Bunmi Olajubus, Sunshine Sisters, Carol Bridis, Stella Monyes, Dora Ifudus, Uche Ibetos, Alex Os, Bright Chimezies, Alex Zittos, Blackkys, Majek Fasheks, Mike Okris, Orits Wilikis, Ras Kimonos, Lijadu Sisters, Daniel Wilsons, Felix Lebartys, Chris Hanens of today? Truly, the list is endless! If one is to consider the few still holding forte today in real music that makes sense, then you will consider a Femi Kuti, a Tuface, a Lagbaja, an Asa, a Nigga Raw, may be a 9ice, and a handful. And the rest? Don’t even mention them! God help us!

They call them old schools, but I prefer the term ‘evergreen songs,’ because good music does not die!
Well said, nice article! I just bookmarked this page.

^^^^ Those songs were already composed and prepared long before Dbanj joined. They do not exhibit our own type of fire brigade approaches abroad where anything goes even at d late hour hence d reason for Dbanj's limited role in dat song and that's ow it is going to be even in d album. So,no big deal my dear.

onatisi: commot for there .make una tell am say we want more from am.u guys just dont get it.noone hates this guy and noone is underating him what ppl are saying is that he is greater than what he is doing, doesnt that make any sense to u ,it is like seeing a 30 yrs old that has legs and who is not sick or lame now crawling like a baby all around town unless he is mentally sick ppl will tell him he is greater than that.we believe dbanj belong to the top class of african music stars .that is it he should stop follow follow all these kanye west.whether we or he dbanj likes it or not without kanye west he dbanj would still have made it big time in the us market.but from all indications it seems dbanj and u his fans just believe we hate him well i wish him the best
Did U just said 'no one hates Dbanj'? Even as U are Mr Onatisi,U av a lot of haters talkless of a popular musician like Dbanj.Hating is part of d human nature and saying no one hates him is just illogical. Moreover,as it's been rightly stated,he came late after d compilation of d songs,so,U shouldn't xpect much and someone even gave u examples of big Artistes like Alicia Keys,Elton John etc that only did something similar to what Dbanj did but U ignored d post. I would av believed all what U typed xcept for ur sarcastic remarks. Well,it was good u wished him d best just as I do too.Success is a gradual thing,Dbanj did worse wen he was rolling with JJC and d 419 squad but he is far better off than them now.Let's just wait and see as events unfold.

Shaw007: precisely thats d tin. . .haters wud just giv themselves high bp 4 ntn,and 2 say he actually came late after the album has already been compiled,so dis is just 2 put the same ppl here critisizing him off. . .2 me o! Ther just jealous
U can just imagine! What do they xpect from someone that joined lately? They think they exhibit our own type of fire brigade approaches abroad where things are just done before adequate preparation? Y the unnecessary jealousy particularly for Dbanj? I was in far away North wen d 'Oliver Twist' song came out and my ears were filled with a lot of news that d song is trash, the song is this, the song is that only for d song to turn out as a monster hit eventually.Even,d OYATO track they criticize all d time isn't that bad.D song wasn't meant to make anyone groove or dance,it was just released to pass a message that He(Dbanj)is still in d game and will continue doing his thing no matter what cos he's different(OYATO).They should just leave d hardworking dude alone and let him do his thing.

Onatisi,U again, today seems to be ur happiest day right? It is Kanye that knows what he sees in Dapo before signing him and I don't know Y that shuld be ur biz. I've been following ur sarcastic comments all along.I would av taken ur posts one after d other to point out d stewpidity inherent in them but I've decided to just leave U alone(u can make a sigh of relief) cos me and U don clash before and I sure say,U no go like a 2nd one.Enjoy d rest of ur day and keep on ranting and jumping all over d thread like a Shaolin monkey(just as U've said) but one thing is sure,"He,who God has blessed,no man can cause".See as thread quickly enter 7 pages shap shap.D'banj is indeed a star!

Are U minding those ones? I remember vividly the time D'banj was with d JJC and d 419 squad,he was not even given a chance to hume talkless of sing.Infact, there is this vid of theirs where he was just left behind alone only for him to come back to Naija and make hits and success that even shocked d JJC guys and now,Dbanj is bigger that all of them combined(d group has splitted anyway)and d rest is history. Dbanj, from what I've seen so far is a humble and patient guy.He takes his time to mingle, observe and learn before making his big breaks.I'm very sure he's putting 1 and 2 together.

Billyonaire: DBanj my man. You never fail to amuse me. You downgraded your talent when you sign up with Kanye cos Kanye, aint got the beats needed for your sounds. Don Jazzy tailored beats to meet your sounds, but Kanye makes people sing to match his beats. Its reverse strategy you are not used to and I dare say you will not be used to, now I fear for your entertaining prowess. Earlier it was a 5 seconds cameo, now its 10 seconds of humming like a r*etard. I fear for your career future. You cant be with Kanye forever, so why not think of an exceed plan from the contract before Kanye kills the little respect we still have left for you. How can my own megastar become a square peg in a round hole, up to a point that a song's tempo has to altered to provide 10 seconds for humming-like-a-goat interlude. DBanj, you got to leave Kanye and define your path. You are a Nigerian, and we have unstoppable spirit. This is not hating but I missed the BBanj I knew and love.
U? Pretending to like D'banj after making sarcastic comments. If I hear.

That aside, let me explain what is unclear to u with d point U raised above. D'banj is not only signed to GOOD music,he is also signed to a proudly Naija record label here in Naija which is DB records so he can provide a balance internationall and nationally. So,my dear,he need not come back to Don Jazzy before he can make a beat that suits his style.J SLEEK has been signed to DB and everyone knows that Jsleek isn't a bad producer.Atleast, one of d best producers in Naija. So, whenever he(Dbanj) needs a beat to suit d African style,he can always get back to DB RECORDS.Get that! Ok?

tomakint: naturalwaves, wao i like this kid, why you still continue to have issues on my 'my ears have heard the best of tunes' is worrisome! Whatever happens to the good 80s, don't tell me you've not heard the popular adage that, 'nothing like the 80s' there must be a reason why experts are saying that, no need for more education boy! Definitely we can never jell musically! Indeed, we now know the ROOKIE!
Funny U. Ofcourse,we know who d Rookie is, obviously U cheesy. Talking abt d music of d 80s, I've got a lot of collections,u need to see my library.Infact,I still maintain my dad's turn table and those big discs they call RECORDS so I can listen to songs whose CD versions aren't available. So,U see,am a big fan of music. On a more serious note, don't say that 'ur ears av heard d best of tunes' outside.U myt just be laughed at by music Pros.

No sir. U are wrong,we av a couple of them. U can even google d name GREGORY UGWI as an example. He finished from Loyola Jesuit College, here in Nigeria and had a lot of the so called Ivy colleges on his neck after blasting his SAT exams. He eventually settled for Princeton University.Though, that is not to say that we are doing things right. We still need to seriously step up in Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Beautify Your Premises Or Go To Jail – Fashola by naturalwaves: 6:32pm On Sep 12, 2012
Gbawe: I understand what has motivated Fashola to make this law. Many parts of Lagos are embarrassing eyesores because Private home owners are not interested in fulfilling their unspoken social contract of maintaining the looks of their homes as part of contribution to a beautiful environment.

Nonetheless, from a realistic perspective, this will be very difficult to enforce. Lagosians, in my experience, deem well-kept homes low on the list of priority of what to do with money. That attitude won't change overnight but I wish Fashola luck.

This is one of those situation where one appreciates the position of both sides. Fashola wants a City that looks the best it can and Lagosians , contending with hideous overpopulation and paucity of funds, simply place home improvement very low on their list of things to do with money.

Ask to help Lagosian relative, and I have done it several times, improve their rented homes and they will flatly refuse. "Instead of upgrading someone elses house, give me the money for my pressing needs" is the response you will get. Most Landlords will never renovate with their own funds either. Ditto for even private home owners. Gridlock. The result is a City that looks like crap because folks, on all side of the fence, don't care. Good luck Governor Fashola. This is one of your policies I believe will be unsuccessful because it is ahead of its time economically and attitudinally. Yet I hope I am wrong because you are one of Nigeria's most effective leaders.
Hmmmmm......What a brilliant writeup!

afam4eva: All this laws will make that a huge chunk of Lagosians will end up in jail because these laws are not only alien but are not suitable for a country like Nigeria where basic social amenities are not readily available. I understand that the Fashola administration is trying to make Lagos work like cities like New York, London, Chicago, Tokyo and other first world cities, but they have to understand the quality of social amenities in Lagos compared to those other cities are embarassing. The quality of life here is ridiculous compared to those cities. The level of enlightenment is negatively astronomical. It's imperative that we take things one step at a time. This laws will only make more Lagosians to be in prison than in their homes. Though i commend Fashola's resolve to make Lagos a law....state.
How does d presence of social ammenities affect a simple hygienic practice of cleaning and beautifying d enviroment? undecided and what makes d law alien? Is it that U don't want to move forward or what? What do U mean by 'd level of enlightment is negatively astronomical? If U meant d level of enlightment of d citizens, one does not need a University degree to understand simple set down laws and if U meant d leven of enlightment on/of d law,BRF always do that(through all d media channels) to ensure everyone is well informed about any law before it(the law) takes it's course.Infact, anyone that wants any instant enlightment can just tune in to d Lagos Tv LTV and obtain such. So,what are U trying to say? undecided.D Lagos we av now is totally difft from the one we had years back and this is due to d 'never say die' attitude of d governor in making sure that Lagosians live and behave like sane people from other parts of d world.U need to go to a mega city like Kano and see d level of lawlessness and dirtiness there.Lagos state wouldn't be in anyway difft from that(kano) if not for d excellent leadership of BRF.It is wrong and illogical to say that d law will make a large chunk of people end up in jail.Anyone that doesn't want to go to jail should obey the law.Simple!

Christianity EtcRe: What Is The Significance Of Praying Before Eating? by naturalwaves: 3:39pm On Sep 09, 2012
dattaswami: You can thank God for providing the food. However you should not ask anything from Him.

Do not ask any thing from God which is either related to present or future. When you ask some thing in present or some thing in the future, it clearly means that you are reminding Him about the corresponding reaction that is to be immediately implemented in the need. This indirectly means that God is not alert as you are. This is insulting God. Due to such sin the requirement is not answered. If you are asking to protect yourself or somebody else, it indirectly means that He is not aware of the things to be done due to the irresponsibility and this also indicates that He is not as kind as yourself.

It means that God has potency to help but not kind enough to render the help. On contrary, it also means that you lack unfortunately the potency. It means if you fortunately have the potency you could have immediately responded and helped. Therefore, when ever you ask for anything it clearly means indirectly that God has some type of defect, which does not exist in your case. When you ask Him to fulfill the desire it looks as if that your desire is constitutionally justified. But God is not positively reacting due to either lack of positive response immediately or due to lack of knowledge of the constitution or due to lack of kindness to help the needy. All these points are very very subtle. But God is the most subtle and therefore, the knowledge of this analysis will certainly restrict you from asking any fulfillment of your desire.

Never bring present and future before God. Confine to the past always before God. Look back at your past life. Hundreds of incidents are there where you were helped by God. Even if you dispose some incidents through the incidental probability of success or through the efficiency of your efforts, certainly there are plenty of instances in which the help from God is clearly evident. At least remember those few incidents and express your gratefulness along praise to God for His kind help that was already done. The word Krutajnata means remembering the past help. Kruta means the past help done. Jna means identifying it by analysis. If you confine to praying the Lord and thanking Him always about the past helps from Him, the Lord will be immensely pleased. Then the present and future are spontaneously taken care of by the God. But do not adopt this technique with a mind that you will be helped by God in the present and in the future by following this procedure!

You should really follow this path and you should really forget the present and the future. When large number of people came to hear the message from Jesus, they were hungry by the noon. This point was brought to the notice of Jesus. He never asked God to provide food for those hungry people who came to hear God’s word. Had He asked for that, He would have insulted God. God knows His responsibility very well towards the devotees who came there to hear about Him. God has the power to fulfill His responsibility even in the last fraction of second. Had Jesus told God to bless the devotees with food, it clearly means that God is not as kind as Jesus. Jesus never asked for any thing. He came to know that there were four breads. He took them and showed to sky. He thanked God for providing those four pieces of bread.

Immediately the present was responded and the four breads became four thousand breads. This application of analysis is limited to Nivrutti only. You should not extend this to Pravrutti. When you are hungry you have to beg the other souls because they are not omniscient to know that you are hungry. Pravrutti and Nivrutti should never be mixed.
How did U pass previous examinations? U didn't even answer d simple question.U should av at least, answer d question first.

#A lil advice for U#
Whenever U want to write an exam, first of all write d relevant answers before U pour any excess knowledge or irrelevance. The worst d marker could do,is to mark what he needs and cancel out d remaining jargons. This could be ur saving grace,so take this advice seriously.Cheers!!!

Classicalman: Cossy Orjiakor, repent and give yourlife to Christ. Start by deflating those fake baloons and wearing more decent clothing.
Women and jealousy,so,because U got no t.its means anyone that has gotten it big has silicon implanted in it? And what proof do U av that they are inflated? Nonesense!!!!

tomakint: A lady tutored you on your own shiiit, and the next thing, you wanna flex your tiny muscle on me! Sorry pal, my response to your pathetic post is simply; 'take your d'banj hyping somewhere else' my ears have heard the best of tunes!!
How can someone with a very big problem with simple logical reasoning be a tutor? Well, being a coward that U are,U av decided to take to ur heels as usual. Atleast,U were intelligent enough to know that U are fighting a loosing battle.Ur guideline must av been d proverb,"If U can't stand d heat, don't stay in d kitchen".Infact,d statement, 'Ur ears av heard d best of tunes' validates d myopic, egocentric and prejudiced view U av wrt music.Even, the likes of Ludwig Van Beethoven,Yanni Chrisomalis etc that av composed, played and listened to a lot of great music couldn't av said that, their ears I've heard d best of tunes.U just confirmed that,U are a rookie when it comes to music and U know nothing on it.Maybe Safarigirl had been ur tutor all these wyl.I am not surprised anyway,"Like tutor, like student" and d rest follows. Case Closed!

Dimples 316: @ Naturalwaves

My NL oga I hail thee,(I'm making you my oga for now as you adviced that I reconsider my take on marriage. LOL)
cheesy cheesy cheesy

Dimples 316: I see you are going at it with candieangel. There's logic in your argument too,
Thank U.

Dimples 316: but common is marriage for the sole purpose of bearing children and doing so in good time before we hit menopause? I don't think so and you know me now, am all for adoption, adoption, adoption if you can't have children of your own OR if like me you want children out of wedlock but do not want to fornicate to have them. Remember God is working in us giving us both the desire and power to do what pleases Him (Phillipians 2:13). So my desire for a child out of wedlock via adoption may just be God's desire at work within me. Well at least I believe it is. Oh and by the way there's nothing wrong with my womb I can have children out of it just saying in case you think.............
Ofcourse NO,marriage is not for d sole purpose of giving birth before menopause.It is just advisable for those that intend giving birth to do that on time wrt the health report so that the following can happen;
1)To reduce d health dangers inherent in late conceptions(birth defects etc)
2)To boost d chances of working more with certainty rather than probability.
You know ur own case is different as U may consider an Adoption but for anyone that is considering giving birth,it is only advisable to do that early if not for anything,at least, based on medical reports.
The last part of ur statement(D WOMB PART) got me laughing.
Finally, thanks for being a good moderator on this thread.lolz...U deserve an award for PEACE.
Consult a dictionary. tomakint: My guy sorry if I am rude on this but to be honest, that babe really 'tutored you' on how to make good judgment on music, in as much that we have different tastes in music, you should at least be able to note what i called 'crap' at your level! Cool down and read this then see how you can get it to your, 'gra gra master':

Thank God for Femi Kuti, Tuface, Nneka and clearly the real Amazon, Asa still holding forte at the International Scene with steady successes! This clown (D’banj), with his gra gra no go let person rest, we all know those who are pulling the strings musically as far as Naija is concerned. You can’t even figure out his genre of music, very unstable. Today he go sing naija hip hop, tomorrow he go say he is on afrobeats, next time na pop, after a while you go hear jujupop, the next thing ijala ere ode (oyato), may be he go soon sing reggae for us. Oliver twist is yet to sell 150,000 copies and the guy no go let man rest, and some of his dogs on this forum (Rhino.5dm, airmark etc) keep crying and kicking that people are not seeing their ‘koko-master’ prowess. It’s not up to 5 months the real ‘Don’ Don Jazzy left him, we don dey see im fucck up. Instead make him sit down jeje think of what to do with the little money he is getting now for the unforeseen future, he wants to ‘penetrate’ American, British, Japan, Australian and European Markets with his ‘piece of craps’ wey never conquer Nigeria let alone Africa……gra gra master, remember Majek Fashek and learn before it’s too late!!! angry angry My guy D'banj is simply 'absolute crap' no offense! Listen to good music in the 80s may be that will improve your listening skills, My Point!
And how does this entire trash justify the reasons for d unwarranted INSULTS thrown at D'banj by Safarigirl under d guise of making a criticism? undecided undecided.

U lack basic communication skills,U quoted me and d next thing U did was to go completely off points.Weren't U taught d essence of quotations? Although,U made use of ur fingers in typing,d brain is meant to run it and not d other way round woman wrapper. If U don't av anything to say to a post, never quote it.if U want to make ur own fresh points, paste it seperately and I will give U a solid reply and if that point(s) of urs is this trash U wrote up here, paste it seperately and I will tutor U on what is crap and what is not wrt music.
I hope U av sent a PM?
Recycled ramble.
First,U went off topic undecided undecided.Even though U went off topic,U said men and women are biologically d same and none is more complex than d other. I brought U back on track and told U that,Superiority is different from Complexity(which u seem to confuse initially) and even at ur biological argument,I gave U glaring examples to show that, women are more biologically complex than men and d best U could do was to label it a RECYCLED RAMBLE.SMH.I come across funny people everyday and U are no exception.Infact, what U just exhibited is another proof of d feminine complexity.
How the hell men and women wired differently when we share the same ribhuh Society and cultures play a big part in division between men and women. Society want people to think that men are stronger so therefore they should be the provider and women are nurturer so therefore they should be the homemaker.

There are men who are incapable of tending to the fields for whatever reasons....shouldn't the women sit around and mope because the man can't tend to the field? Accordingly to you men and women are wired differently....biologically speaking men and women are the same even can share similar hormone chemicals....PLEASE DO NOT DEBATE ON THE SUBJECT OF BIOLOGY....you will lose.

It is all societal bullshit and as I stated men and women are no different. You have some men who do not bleed act worse than women on their periods!!!!
Ur post above is talking more about d societal norm that men are superior over females but that is different from complexity. The Complexity seems to address d issue that, trying to understand a woman could be challenging. That's all!

Talking about Biology(though that's not our main focus), Do U know that a woman is even more biologically complex than a man? From d structural make up,to biological activities(e.g ovulation),conception, womb etc.A female's body is generally sensitive and more complex than a male's.A man is just a simple figure. That's biological complexity! There are other forms of female complexity.
