That part about the children's department of a church is so accurate, my friend works in that unit at our church, the few times we've tried to catch up after service in her classroom, it is total chaos. She can't leave until each child has been signed out and picked up by a parent, guardian or relative via a tag system they use. So, it's usually the best time for us to chill.

The experiences she shares makes me shudder sometimes, parents themselves are eager to offload their kids on Sunday school teachers for a few hours and when they are unable to, they become rude, insulting and abusive to these teachers. There are rules/regulations for each classroom, you can't admit more than a certain number for health & safety reasons and once a certain time frame has passed, they are not allowed to admit anymore children into their classrooms.

Parents are aware of the rules but they will arrive late to church and start displaying their madness, when rules are enforced. One woman even gave her child a dirty slap in front of my friend, claiming the child made them late to church. All that anger and annoyance because her child will have to sit with her in the main church auditorium meant for adults, but in a restricted area designated for parents with kids.

Some parents cannot handle their own offspring properly, instill discipline or maintain decorum with them, but they want to go to public events and unleash these same kids on people. Mbanu, please they should stay at home before the party scatter, like Fireboy sang. The text in bold made me laugh, that is typical Naija behaviour when it comes to free food.

A cousin of mine left her 2 years old son at home to go out for a few minutes and before she returned this walking cute zombie had invaded the kitchen misstepped and hit his head somewhere and was bleeding profusely. It was just the grace of God that kept that child alive.

Honestly I do commend Sunday school teachers on their weekly struggle on how to tame these kids, their reward in heaven would be great.

Let me give you a piece of advice.

That amount wouldn't even take care of your accommodation for a month. In Houston accomodation apartment starts $1,800 per month. You've not added bills like electricity which should be around $60-$130, water, gas, state tax, feeding...etc.

$11 per hour is peanuts if you must know. unless you're squatting with family members who would shoulder more than 95% of your expenses, then you can actually save from it.

And yes I maintain my stand that if you're not going to America with a detailed blueprint on how to manage your life, you'd end up on the streets.

About living illegally, what job can you possibly get as an illegal immigrant? And yes no one would actually bother you if you're provided you stay out of crime. But there's someone who won't wait for you, he's name is time.

Before you blink, you've blown 5-10 years of your life almost clocking 40 no wife, no kids, you're practically living from pay check to pay check (otherwise know in Nigeria as hand-to-mouth). Is it really worth it? Why not plan yourself properly before exiting Nigeria so that you can get settled within 2-3 years and start earning something decent?

And to control them is another Herculean task cos their parents who should do that would be more interested in stocking their bags with lots and lots of nylon bags filled with rice, assorted meats, drinks...etc, than actually paying attention to their kids.

A gathering absent kids would be more orderly and coordinated. I believe this is the reason why most couples prefer to keep them away from their reception.

If I must leave the shores of this country it must be legally, I either run my MSC program or through E1 (entrepreneur visa) where I can go and begin my own business or get a reasonable job after my MSC program.

Going there with no plan aside marrying for green card will put you on the streets, then jail and a possible deportation.

Look for a hotel and apply there. Hotels provide accommodation and feeding to their staffs. From there you can go out and double your Hussle whenever you're not on duty.

Stop giving people the impression that you have money and the billing will stop.

To avoid family billing, call them and complain, if they call you first, start complaining about your work and how things are hard before they even say anything. Believe me dem no go get mind bill you.

To avoid friends billing, stop posting your progress on social media, when you keep uploading your progress on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp status, what do you expect? You buy car you post it, you change accommodation you post it, you buy 60" smart TV you post it, you enter Dubai, you post it...you're directly indirectly inviting Billings.

For neighbours...Things like LAWMA, security, cleaning...etc bills, deliberately wait till the last day before you pay. Not because you don't have the money but because you don't want them to see you like one baba olowo. Once they see how hard it is for you pay ordinary security bill, nobody would bill you.

These is how I escape billing from people. No be say I too get o, but considering how hard things are in Nigeria, a man on clean suit can easily be compared to Elon musk.

You're not getting it. She's asking you to leave because of the high rent. Meaning she can still afford to pay the rent but asked you to leave cos she won't be paying such a high amount while you sit back and enjoy her free accommodation.

Divide the amount of the rent and give her your own part of the money and she won't trouble you anymore.

Parents and roommates would want you out of their house when you become a liability to them. Eating free food, enjoying the basic amenities in the house, dodging rent, contributing absolutely nothing in return for the comfort you're enjoying... etc.

If you really want to stay there because you're not comfortable with living alone, then pay next months rent (over there rent is per month) and stock the refrigerator with groceries, if possible pay the gas and electricity bill as well. Do this and believe me, your mom would be the one begging you to stay, because you're no longer a liability but an asset to her.
