That showroom's webppage that you just posted has some elegant fixtures that would give the ones in yankee a run for their money. Thanks for the information. |
I am not absolving this man of his crime, but for email scams, let them leave Nigeria for a second and focus more on their citizens. How many of us have not been bombarded with emails from some companies informing us that we have won the lottery or spams from drug companies? What of elderly citizens, who have lost a share of their money to scams in the USA? Fleecing of people is not only peculiar in Nigeria, but rampant in the USA too. |
Praise God in the Highest, Amen. It is always good to read such testimonies and please dont forget to thank God Almighty for hearkening to your prayers. Cheers. |
Would a class action lawsuit ever see the light of the day in Nigeria? That's I dont know. As for the allegations levelled at UBA, I really cant say. Having lived in America, all what I can say is that banks charging you interest on your account is quite the norm in the banking industry. However, I have never heard of the same charges on savings account, even though the interest is peanuts. Maybe we could revert back to the former days, when our forefathers buried money under the tree to avoid charges on one's account. ![]() |
We just have to be optimistic that Nigeria will change for the better. Lets not lose hope. Only we, Nigerians can rebuild our dear country to its former apex for our future generation. We just cant be checking out to other places for economic reasons. What eventually happens is that our future generation gets displaced from their root. Seriously, I love Nigeria. @chiegmba, it's indeed a small world that we live in. |
Calabar is going places. Thanks for posting the pic@lephillipe |
Londoncool, Ekpoanwan and I were friends, growing up together in the same compound in Calabar. Her younger sister was my childhood friend also. Wao. Where in Calabar did you all grow up? I attended Unical Staff school. www.nigerianmemories..com |
Retirement is of absolute necessity, because in our golden years, we wont have the strength, nor the will power to engage in manual labor as we once did during our younger years. And it will be unfortunate, to have to depend of meager entitlements from the government that would be barely enough to keep body and soul together. While 401K is an ideal route for retirement, let me sound this word of caution to all of you. If your company does not offer a match, you are better off, investing in a Roth IRA account, because with the latter, you are exposed to a wide range of mutual funds that you could invest with. The icing in the cake is that after the age of 59.5, you can withdraw the whole amount of money, tax free, unlike your investments in 401, which would be taxed by Uncle Sam. Or better still, invest in both 401k and a Roth IRA, but it should not be a detriment to your day to day necessities. |
"Amakop idomo" as my people say. I wish you the best. Meanwhile, don't forget the efficacy of prayer and fasting. Kinda reminds me when I had just moved to America and was in dire need of a job. A cousin of a friend called my house to inform me that Stanford was having an onsite interview and my presence was needed, urgently for the position. Nobody delivered the message to me, until when I popped by my friend's place later in the day that he told me. By the time, I got there, the interview was over and I just missed the job. To rub salt into an open wound, after one year, one of the guys told me that there was potential to make big bucks after just one year. But you know what? God got me a very good job, just before momsie came for a visit, Please dont lose up in God. |
Sitting her down for a 'candid' discussion would only open room for temptation. Avoid her at all cost. I am not being critical of your Church, but I feel that blood type or no blood type, couples should be given the chance to get married. If having a sickle cell child would be a burden down the road, you can opt for an adoption in the mean time. Afterall, there are no chances in life, that a healthy child would survive his/her parents down the road, or a child with sickle cell would die shortly after birth. There is nothing greater than God in giving us healthy kids, irrespective of the blood type, and the pastors should have taken that into consideration. Either way, the union between your ex and her hubby has been formalized, and it's time to bid your adieu, with a tone of finality!!! |
I would like to relocate to Naija someday. |
muchbabe, afo aba ke canada or california? Uke ke Calabar ke afo ato? Nke si dung ke efak Goldie akereke Asang Eniong. |
Nothing fancy, just a 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch style house, with a garage. Preferably on a cul-de-sac. How much would it be? What of the property taxes, and how's the job market in Atlanta? |
Londoncool and muchbabe, are both of you efiks? I grew up in Calabar, though I am an Ibibio man. |
It just came to my attention that the Nigerian stock market is doing phenomenally well. Like some of you, I am interested in opening an account to invest in company shares. Any info would be appreciated. It's best to diversify on both sides of the continent, instead of putting my eggs in one basket. |
Yeah@egold, I would appreciate any information on how to register an account with cashcraft. How much are their fees? Do you pay taxes on your returns back home? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks. |
So, if a black woman perms her hair, does that amount to a betrayal of her race? If so, then we gotta forego stuff made by the white man, including the computer. How about that? ![]() |
Na wao!!!. Naija never change!!! |
How can one purchase this insurance, for some of us living abroad? I dont want to miss this opportunity. |
It is not sick,@swiftycool, but an abberation from our culture for a man to take on his wife's last name. |
Quite interesting, because a former classmate and I were (his initiative though) discussing about the merits and necessities (factor in the epileptic power supply in Nigeria) of solar energy in Nigeria. Mine has to do with the cost, and moreso, how many people can readily afford it? |
Please does anybody know on how I can go about investing in the Nigerian stock market. I want a detailed understanding about the fees for the stock broker and the returns of some of these companies at the end of the year. A former classmate of mine based in Lagos informed me that he is a part time stock broker and he could hook me up, if I was interested in having a portfolio. His fee would be about 2.75% of the returns from the investments. I gathered from him that the shares of Oceanic Bank is under 20 Naira, which is isnt a bad price. But what are the prospects of this company? I will appreciate any concrete advice. Thanks. |
How do you expect people to drink water? It is not as if the government is delivering tanks of water to every citizen of Nigeria. Leave them to survive, it is not a crime for one to struggle in Nigeria. Come, Aso rock has borehole? Is this a joke? |
Yicob, get a copy of So Long a letter, by Mariama Ba, as well as the Victims by Isidore Okpewho. |
Lets quit being pessimistic, that one project did not work out does not automatically mean that another one is doomed. By the way, where in CRS is Tinapa located? |
Quite similar, but it is different. My topic has to do with instilling your heritage in your kids, while living abroad, because that is a challenge. Kids born and raised here, usually care less about their heritage. If I can recall, the discourse that you have posted had to do with a dilemma posed by a Nigerian on how she could raise her kids (discipline or no discipline) while married to a foreigner. |
Nigeria1, the victim of the senseless shooting by the New York police department was from Guinea, not Senegal |
Double decker bus on Lagos streets is equal to double tragedy when there is an accident. |
I have witnessed polygamy and I tell you that it is a very ugly sight. Juju, accusation of neglect, malicious slander, marital dispute and fights between the wives, with their children joining in is not a pleasant sight. I would never advise anybody to practise polygamy. It is not worth it. Any proponent of polygamy should take a look at the disaster that occured in MKO Abiola's family, shortly after his demise. The squabbles between the wives and the allegations that some of the children were left out of their inheritance is a mirror on the pitfalls of tragedy. |
Nice pictures, I like them. Thanks Dblock for posting them. |
