According to Ezekiel 18: 20, " Only the one who sins will die. A child won’t bear a parent’s guilt, and a parent won’t bear a child’s guilt. Those who do right will be declared innocent, and the wicked will be declared guilty." espn: |

Jesus Christ is God's only Begotten Son and that makes Him distinct from the rest of the angels. He is superior, way way higher than the angels according to this Biblical verse, "Having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they." –Hebrews 1:4 MaxInDHouse: |
Whether you overestimated or underestimated me is not the issue. The matter is for us to learn and imbibe the Holy scriptures in our lives instead of puffing up that we are better or more knowledgeable than others because their views run contrary to ours. MaxInDHouse: |
Jesus Christ is not Michael. Read the Holy Bible again. Michael is an arch-angel while Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Please read this: "But when the archangel Michael contended with the Devil and disputed about the body of Moses, he did not dare to bring a condemnation of slander against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" (Jude 9). Note, Michael did not rebuke the devil. Then read this, "Then Jesus said to him, "Away with you, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.' " Then the Devil left Him, and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him (Matthew 4:10,11). In other words, while Michael did not rebuke the devil, during the temptation, He, Jesus Christ, rebuked the devil. Secondly, read this in Hebrews 1:5 For to which of the angels did He ever say: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”? And again: “I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son”? Those Biblical verses clearly shows that Jesus Christ is not the archangel, Michael. MaxInDHouse: |

Why do you say that they are the same person? ejanla077: |
"After eight days his disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, "Peace be with you." Then he said to Thomas, "Reach here with your finger, and see my hands; and reach here your hand and put it into my side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing." Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God!" (John 20:26-28). Jesus still had the scars on his hands He sustained during the crucifixion. https://www.blueletterbible.org/faq/don_stewart/don_stewart_1352.cfm DappaD: |
WAO at your remarks. However, this custom is outdated and should be abolished. okpalaAnambra: |
Please read this. Jesus Christ was resurrected physically. Please read what He said to His disciples “Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have” (Luke 24:39). https://harvest.org/know-god-article/what-was-jesus-resurrected-body-like/ |
I was at the Murtala Mohammed Airport clutching this novel, "Half of a Yellow sun" by Chimamanda Adichie, while waiting for customs/security to check my luggages so I could board the plane. Then, I looked behind me and there was the author, Chimamanda Adichie. She was typing on her smart phone. I made eye-contact with her, then proceeded to say to her, "Guess what I am reading." She asked, "Oh, what is it?" I showed her the novel and she remarked gleefully, "Good one" I tried to strike up a conversation with her, but she wasnt in the mood, which was ok with me. Then later on when I was done with security and was ready to glide through another terminal, I observed that she was peeking at me from a corner. |

This is heartwarming news. I hope SARS reads this. |
Bravo to the youths for taking up action, as long as it was done peacefully, instead of suffering in silence. Let our voices be heard. For so long, the leaders have taken us for granted. |

During the holidays (back when I was in college), I was doing my internship at a bank. One afternoon, I saw a guy on top of a motorbike flagging desperately at me as I stood outside the bank. I recognized him immediately. He was a close friend of one of my coursemates who doubled as my study partner. While I considered him a friend of mine, I had minimal interaction with his friend who was paying me a visit at the bank. He was on a mission as he told me when he got off the bike and I ushered him into my office. He had five resits at the university and he was in dire need of a place to stay so that he could write his resits. The hotel he was currently staying at was billing him 100 Naira a night which was draining his finances. Hence, he wanted to squat at my place. I was the only one who could bail him out. I declined his pleas and he left in tears. The following day, he stopped by again to beg me, but fortunately for him, I wasnt in the office. He proceeded to plead with my supervisor to help him beg me accommodate him for a month or so while he took and cleared off his resit. When I came back (he had left), Rosa said to me, "Mbok nyanga enye" . . . "Please help him." I acquiesced to her pleas. By coincidence, I was moving into my off campus residence (from home) that very weekend. So after my mum dropped me off on Sunday. There-after, I went to his hotel and he was so so relieved and happy to see me because that meant I was willing to accommodate him which I did for one month. We got along very well, he cleared off his resits and left on very good terms. I am certain that he passed all his resits. The following session when school resumed, the guy again asked for accommodation. So, he stayed with me, along with my study partner, who then sneaked in his friend as well. So, we were four in a room. My landlord made WAHALA with me and threatened on several occasions to kick me out of the house for harboring occupants in his compound without his permission. Earlier on, my mother had gone to my landlord's village on a mission because he had threatened to kick me out, and there, begged him also to allow the guy to stay with me because of his academic deficiencies. But for the Grace of God, I would have lost my place and these fellows stayed with me for about two months and left on good terms. He was very appreciative of my hospitality to him and tried to reciprocate it by always inviting me to his new bunk to eat at his expenses but I turned him down much to his great annoyance. I know he meant well, but I did not want to come off as a leech, sponging off on him, even if he was wealthy. Later on, we quarreled. My study partner and his other friend and another coursemate would gossip about this wealthy guy to my face and I will defend him. But then my study partner would go to this guy's house and gossip about me. We reconciled but our friendship was not as solid as before. After college, I relocated to the US and years later, I was able to get in touch with him through a lady that I chatted with in a Nigerian chatroom. He was so so happy to hear from me because the assumption back home is that when people travel abroad, they forget their friends back home. My youngest brother died several years after I resumed contact with this former roommate of mine, so I flew into Nigeria for his funeral. I passed the night in Lagos with plans of traveling to Uyo the following day. But my plans derailed that day so when I went to the airport that evening, the only available flight was to Port Harcourt. My goal was that as soon I land in PH, I will charter a taxi straight to Uyo (as I did years earlier). However it was dark when I arrived in PH. Alone in a strange place with nobody to help me, I was just helpless. Then a thought occurred to me as I remembered my friend I had put up with years earlier lived in PH and like I said to myself, he will help me out because I did help him out when he needed my assistance. So, I called him up, he picked up the phone and I explained my circumstances and that I needed to stay at his place just for one night. I will be on my way to Uyo the following day. He came to the airport to pick me up. On our way, the guy sighed, then berated me, "But you could have left Lagos earlier on now." Then he kept on ranting that when people are married, they focus on their family and not on their friends, so in essence, he was very reluctant to accommodate me. And here I was thinking that this would be another reunion of sorts. But the man kept ranting and ranting and asking me, "Ok, so why did you not leave Lagos earlier on now, you should be thankful to God that I picked up the phone because I was about to switch it off when your call came in, it's just that when people are married, they focus on their family not friends." I was so embarrassed and tongue tied at this deplorable way he was treating me. Like, it was a big deal he gave me a place or without him, I would have been stranded big time in PH (just for a day) whereas, back in college, he was on the verge of being kicked out of college because of his academic deficiencies if I had not given him a place to stay) It got worse when we arrived at his house and he served me food like one would to their cat. His wife was very nice and hospitable to me, but this guy was just angry at me throughout my stay until the following morning when he dropped me off at the the motor-park. He sent me an email when I returned to the States that he was sad at my brother's demise. When I think of how I helped him in his time of need, how he confessed that but for my help, he would have been stranded and how he repaid my hospitality in my own time of need when I was stranded in PH, I now realize that if the roles were reversed back in college, that guy wouldnt have helped me. |
Camara Laye narrated in "The African Child" that the headmaster of his school was relieved of his job after authorities found out that he had engaged the services of students to help out his wives. |
How much are they paid to engage in this dishonorable profession? The ones sponsoring them are sending their children to study abroad while engaging them for pittance to do this dirty and sordid job. At the end of the day, these thugs get discarded like trash by their sponsors and they start life all over again. |
So that the assumption would be that a black man killed her. And this murderer could walk away free while a non-existent black man would be hunted up and down until an innocent one maybe framed for murder. |
Chris Elisha wasnt called to the Nigerian bar, yet practiced law and won several court cases. How can you differentiate an Akwa Ibomite from a Cross Riverian when their names are almost interchangeable? Cheat2Win: |
I was not painting Calabar black but giving an accurate picture of what's going on there. Anarchy seems to be the order of the day in the city as news reports are inundated with kidnapping and cult killings. It is wrong of you to accuse Akwa Ibomites and Cameroonians as being criminals that are creating havoc out there. Where are your proofs? Cheat2Win: |

In my time, Calabar was a serene town with great leaders like the late Clement Isong and Esuene who built the Calabar Itu road/bridge that changed the mode of transportation in the place from plying the sea to traveling by road. We had the palm produce board, the biscuit factory, the famous Metropolitan hotel . . . infact, there was a solid middle class in the city. Civil servants lived a decent or somewhat comfortable life, the roads were nice and tarred, Uyo was just a village, I dont know if there was electricity at that time in Uyo when I was growing up in Calabar. How Calabar just degenerated into an abyss is shocking. Development is not a mystery , Nigerians make it look so. Everywhere can be developed, it just needs competent planning & execution and efficient tax system. without efficient tax system there would be lack of maintenance. dependence on allocation is unsustainable . |
Prior to the Esuene's administration, the mode of trasportation from Uyo to Calabar was by sea via hovercraft or boat. Esuene came onboard and changed the landscape by building the Calabar Itu road/bridge, a welcome development in the state. It's very unfortunate and disappointing that in this day and age where the mode of transportation has been upgraded in other parts of the world, in Akwa Ibom and Cross River, it is only retrogressing, because now, travelers have gone back to plying the sea to reach their destination. I am from Uyo but grew up in Calabar. In my days, Uyo was a village while Calabar was an urban area. There was just no comparison between Uyo and Calabar. Even when I was at Uniuyo, people complained the place was dry and they could not wait to leave the area after graduation. One even said he will never step foot in Uyo after his graduation. Now, the roles have switched, Uyo is experiencing a renaissance, with nice tarred roads, modern buildings and influx of tourists and people from different parts of the country seeking to better their lives by tapping into greener pastures of the land. Who would have thought? This should serve as a reminder that no condition is permanent. OVB123: |
