Politics › Re: I Support The Creation Of Ijebu State - Senator David Mark by nduchucks: 2:04pm On Oct 29, 2012
People who believe that the possible emergence of the new Ogun state is due to David Mark’s manipulations or political ambitions are ill-advised. There are actually 45 requests for the creation of new states on the table of the Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution. Six of which may be granted.

So far, we know that David Mark supports Ogun, so it is safe to assume that Ogun will emerge from the South West zone.

Here is a list of the remaining requests for new states, each zone to get 1 new state:

South-East; Aba (Abia), Adada (Enugu), Orashi (Imo), Ugwuaku (Imo, Abia, Anambra), Etiti (Imo, Abia, Anambra), Equity (Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi), Njaba (Imo) and Orimili (Anambra, Imo, Delta). Abia, Imo, and Anambra to be broken up.

South-West: [s]New Oyo (Oyo), Remo-Ijebu (Ogun), Ijesha (Osun), Oduduwa (Osun),[/s] Ijebu (Ogun), [s]Ibadan (Oyo), Yewa (Ogun) Ose (Ondo), Lagoon (Lagos) and Oluwa (Ondo). [/s]

South-South: Ahoada (Rivers); Toru Ebe (Delta, Edo, Ondo), Ogoja (Cross River), Urhobo(Delta), Minji Se (Rivers), Ado (Delta), Confluence (Edo, Kogi, Nasarawa), Bori (Rivers), Anioma (Delta), Oil Rivers (Akwa Ibom, Rivers), Warri (Delta) New Delta (Delta) and Ethiope (Delta).

North-West: Karaduwa (Katsina), Corara (Kaduna), New Kaduna (Kaduna), Tiga (Kano), Chari and Bayajida (Katsina).

North-Central: Kainji (Niger, Edu (Niger, Kwara), Okura (Kogi), Borgu and Okun (Ekiti, Ondo, Kwara, Kogi and Apa(Benue).

North-East: Katagun (Bauchi), Amana (Adamawa) and New Borno (Borno).

Many of the people who are hailing the violent and criminal acts of these youths are the same ones who were yelling that the Aluu killings were wrong. What hypocrisy!!! Shame on you people

berem: Violence begats violence! Were you expecting the christians to fold their arms and remain calm? If bokoharam didn't throw bombs, would the christians make a reprisal attack? huh
In a civilized world, the rule of law is the preferred to response to violence. Its time some of you come out of the bush.

CuntDestroyer: in as much as i don't support the reprisal attacks, I know for a fact that the average northern muslim is sympathetic to the BH agenda and they also are usually happy whenever a church is bombed.
The above is borne out of your own prejudice and ignorance, but not facts. More Muslims have been killed due to the BH agenda.
Politics › Re: Kaduna Christian Youths Just As Criminal As The Catholic Church Suicide Bomber. by nduchucks(op): 7:29am On Oct 29, 2012
naijaking1: Speaking about christian youths when cowardly muslims bomb helpless christians in their churchs every sunday in in very bad taste. You really have no shame?
I have condemned the criminal actions of terrorists and suicide bombers and there is nothing shameful about the condemnations. I am similarly not ashamed to condemn those youths who are not supposed to be terrorists but are able to carry out the killing of innocent people. You are the one who should be ashamed of not condemning ALL acts of violence.

@taharqa, I hope you can read because I've never told you that I am Igbo or belong to any particular tribe. To be clear I am a full blooded Nigerian, period.

I agree with some of what you wrote, but the bit about criticisms of JTF smacks of bigotry. We all must condemn ALL acts of violence against Nigerian citizens regardless of who the perpetrators are.
Politics › Kaduna Christian Youths Just As Criminal As The Catholic Church Suicide Bomber. by nduchucks(op): 12:11am On Oct 29, 2012
Following the suicide attack wherein a suicide bomber drove into a Catholic church in city of Kaduna, reprisals were swift and indiscriminate. While rescuers were still trying to reach injured victims, angry Christian youths armed with macheties and clubs, beat to death two passers byes who were believed to be Muslims. Separately an okada guy suspected to be a Muslim was beaten and him and his bike were douced with petrol and set on fire.

Is this what these so-called Christian youths are being taught in Church. These youths are not the extremists, yet the behaved in such a barbaric manner.

We thank the JTF for putting pressure on BH extremists, but who will control these wayward youths huh

naijaking1: Did you hear Gowon say that most of the Igbo casualities was from stampeding rush to escape rumors of northern advancementhuh
And he easily forgot that more Igbos were killed by their northern neighbours before the war actually broke out?
The bolded is a good reason to believe that the cry of genocide and claim that 2 - 3 million Igbos were killed during the war, is completely false. There is no estimate or record which even comes close to 5,000 people being killed prior to the war.

naijaking, you've accidentally revealed the truth.

Frankly, I look at the birth of Nigeria as I do that of a child born as a result of vicious r ape. We all know that, such a child could, despite the unfortunate circumstances of her birth, become the greatest achiever in her continent.

Insha Allah, Nigeria will become great soon enough.
Politics › Re: Gov Amosun Allocates 500 Hectares Of Land To Lagos State by nduchucks: 12:58am On Oct 28, 2012
Governments give out land to investors investing in their state all the time. They even give them tax breaks. This is a win win situation for both states and I hope this get replicated all over the SW.
They keyword above is "investors". When did state governments become experts in Agribusiness and investors in such ventures?

While there is nothing wrong with state governments working hard to encourage job creation opportunities, within their states, when states enter into the kind of agreements in this case, and shroud the details of the agreement in secrecy, in becomes incumbent upon reasonable citizens to demand transparency and details.

If some of you are not outright dumb, you'd be asking for transparency while praising the deal. Not doing that suggests that you may be part of the thieves who typically use these deals to enrich themselves.

Politics › Re: Ribadu Report, Plan To Embarrass Government - Presidency by nduchucks:
No wonder the Minister of Petroleum sat on the report for over a month and is still sitting on it. Sadly, most Nigerians and probab;y NLers have never experienced the personal ownership of $20,000 or more, so they have no idea what $183million is worth, much more how much the billions of dollars stolen annually by government operatives is worth.

If Nigerians truly understand the enormity of government theft, our streets will be filled with civily disobedient people demanding justice and answers. We may be our own worst enemies.
Politics › Re: Gov Amosun Allocates 500 Hectares Of Land To Lagos State by nduchucks: 10:03pm On Oct 25, 2012
Prof Corruption: States would, naturally, not go into such ventures if our businessmen are up and doing in that area. States can do business. What happens if LASG set it up and thereafter privatize it? It's not that different from government building Housing Estate and selling same to civil servants. It's all "welfarism".
When are you guys going to wise up? The same government officials who will set up The operations will buy up privatized units with looted funds a few years later.
Politics › Re: Gov Amosun Allocates 500 Hectares Of Land To Lagos State by nduchucks: 8:47pm On Oct 25, 2012
To be honest with you, we continue to do things assbackwards in Nigeria. The federal government or a state government has no business trying to conduct agribusiness or large scale farming. Heck they can't even run a government successfully.

Why didn't Ogun state seek real farmers and businessmen who would invest in large scale farming instead of partnering with lagos state or any other state? When did states become businessmen? can someone name a single state run business which has been truly successful and efficient? When Nigerian states run businesses, they typically ruin them or state officials use them to enrich themselves. I'm amazed that many people are cheering this on. mumus.
Politics › Re: Gov Amosun Allocates 500 Hectares Of Land To Lagos State by nduchucks: 6:42pm On Oct 25, 2012
Gbawe: Look, stop this show of pedantism and negativity for its own sake alone. The land could simply be leased to Lagos with Ogun perhaps even gaining some remuneration as leaseholder. Lagos requested the land and Ogun obliged.

Stop worrying about legality when it is perhaps the most inconsequential consideration here. The transfer of land for various use is very flexible in legality.
How is it a show of pedantism and negativity for its own sake? Why didn't Amosun announce to the world that the land was leased to Lagos instead of telling us that it was allocated? You of all people should be asking for transparency from these governors and their operatives. They will continue to rob you blind until you people decide to hold them morally and legally accountable. SMH

Kudos to Dr. Nwaezeigwe, an intellectual, realist, and bridge builder. His write-up is sound, factual, objective, and devoid of the inferiority complex which is evident in many posts by certain Igbos on NL. These wayward and senseless Igbos need to give up their uncivilized and self destructive behavior.

The said destructive behavior is exhibited in the ongoing Eze NL Gburugburu election which has become a charade. Reasonable people like Ogugua88 are being demonized for venturing out of the box, and I predict that Dr. Nwaezeigwe will be similarly demonized on this thread.

Recently, Fashola stated that the Constitution cannot be "driven by itself. It must be driven by people with values.” He conclude his statement by stating that it is essentially useless to amend the constitution before a social engineering of people's values is effectuated.

Eko Ile: You must be a Nigerian....
Indeed, a Nigerian through and through.

I reiterate that Fashola is more of a City Manager or Mayor at best, than a national leader whose inadequacies are beginning to become self evident. He will make a good Minister of works in the next dispensation, nothing more.

Lets see how he deals with the problem of the Okada riders which he found a way to mishandle. He should have consulted El Rufai for strategies on how to solve the Okada problem in a Nigerian big city.

Fashola is a good Administrator who could be a great City Manager of LA or Chicago. He is a performer like El Rufai was during his tenure in FCT. Lagos State is really a small state.

If Fashola intends to have any chance of ruling the country, he must first learn how to be a politician and a wise one at that.

His immaturity showed when he embarassed an Army Office by "arresting" him for a traffic infraction. Next he screwed up an opportunity to earn the goodwill of Igbo people by his recent utterances about the constitution. His latest act of political immaturity is in taking on Obasanjo. A wise one like Ojuyobo would have ordered OBJ's vehicle released ASAP without any negative publicity. Fashola's political naivity and foolery is becoming annoying.
