Mr. President showed great restraint and sensitivity. He should have arranged to ban Hijab from identified public places with immediate effect.

It should be banned from places like motor parks, markets, airports, stadiums and such places. The ban should remain in place until this war is over

We are talking about rule of law and rights of citizenship, if they succeed with those people it could be anyone's turn tomorrow.
So far, every action by Buhari's administration vis-a-vis these alleged criminals has beeen lawful. We all should demand a free and fair trial and accord the alleged criminals the opportunity to defend themselves.

They should have stopped at only one crime if they didn't want to be charged with multiple crimes.

He may have disguised the loot in his children's names. It's money laundering strategy. No be so?
That may very well be true, but I do not think this $180,000 duplex is the type of house to use for such a disguise.

If we are talking about million dollar mansions, then it would be believable. What is more believable is that the house belongs to Koro's son. That's a very inexpensive house. Mind you, I'm not saying that Koro did not loot.

Specially in that county. If it was around DC or NY that house brand can cost a load of money grin
Indeed. That house may belong to Koro's kids. Its a very inexpensive duplex. An identical duplex next door located at 2749 Knelston Oak Way, Suwanee, GA 30024 was sold June 15 for $180,000. Source

Rougues like Koro pay millions for houses in the US. That duplex is the type you buy to hide a concubine.

Politics › Re: Now That Crude Is Gradually Becoming Worthless, What Next For Niger Delta? by nduchucks: 5:15pm On Dec 30, 2015
The good news for this great country is that we are diversifying and becoming less dependent on oil.

As some would have us believe, the news does not spell doom for the Niger Delta region. It will simply speed up the process of turning the entire area into the Norway of Africa, where the area supplies both fresh and frozen fish to the entire African continent not to talk of other parts of the world. I can envision a very healthy fishery and aquaculture industry developing at lightning speed in the area.

I can also see the groundnut, cocoa, textiles, and palm oil products playing a major role in this new era. We are richly blessed with agricultural and mineral resources which would keep us rich and healthy for decades to come.

Don't be fooled by self hating naysayers. the future of this great country is very bright. cool

Politics › Re: How Buhari Can Achieve N1 To $1 by nduchucks: 11:12am On Dec 30, 2015
People who have been making fun at Buhari's statement of making the naira equal to the dollare are simply ignorant.

Hitherto, our government has attempted to maintain stable exchange rates by either buying or selling the naira on the open market. This is one reason why we maintain reserves of foreign currencies, the dollar to be precise. If the exchange rate drifts too far below the desired rate, the government buys its own currency in the market using its reserves. This places greater demand on the market and pushes up the price of the currency. If the exchange rate drifts too far above the desired rate, the government does the opposite.

The problem is, the thieving thieves have drained our reserves and the government is quite frankly, no longer able to provide the stability we've enjoyed in years past.

It may be time to actually peg the naira to the dollar; I believe this is what Buhari has in mind. If this policy is adopted, the peg rate would be 1.0 with the dollar being the Peg currency. This will render the naira stable, alleviating currency worries since FX volatility is near zero. On the other hand, the naira will be susceptible to large one-off moves and de-peg risk. If this is done, the redenomination mentioned by the OP will have to be implemented.

This idea of pegging is not new, many countries including, UAE, Chad, 'Hong Kong', Namibia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Cuba, Panama, and many others peg their currencies to the dollar using various peg rates. Namibia, Lesotho, Panama, Cuba, are examples of countries where the Peg rate = 1.

The time may have come for pegging in Nigeria. Soludo attempted to introduce this through the backdoor under the guise of redenomination of the naira, but he was quickly shouted down by the usual suspects.

@OP, you and your friend invaded the privacy of this young lady. How dare you drug her and extract her blood without her consent? You deserve some jail time for this reckless act.

Did it occur to you that the girl may not even know that she is HIV positive? Did you use a sterile needle to extract the blood and are you sure you did not infect her with Hepatitis in the process of extracting this blood? if you are a real doctor then your license should be seized immediately.

All your friend had to do was refuse to have sex with her until she goes for the HIV test. This should have been easy for him to do since it concerns his very life.

What you did sir, is tantamount to rape or worse. embarassed

Reyginus:
No. You don't seem to get it. Let me make it clearer. Do you know that even if Nigeria becomes like America tomorrow there will still not be that unity I'm talking about?

I mean that hatred we have in our minds towards each other will still be there. You wonder why Catalonia wants out even with everything. The issue is bigger than Buhari, Fashola, Soludo or anybody. There will still be no true peace.
This is where we have to part ways. I am more optimistic than that. I do not experience the hatred you describe in real life and have experienced more of it on line, where people are anonymous.

In my neighborhood, Nigerians live together, intermarry, do businesses together and love soccer, particularly when Nigeria is playing against any other country. cheesy

I'd recommend you move out of your neighborhood if the hatred you described is as bad as you say it is.

una good night o.

That's the problem. None will happen. We will keep hating each other and will still not split. We are that smart. Any attempt to will lead to war. We are very intelligent. Maybe some day when a bigger opium replaces our current ones we may pick up the same weed and smoke to it.

What do you think?
The hope we have is in Buhari and his administration. If the man fails in delivering most of his promises, I'd vote for him once again, if he succeeds in putting corruption and looting with impunity in check. After him, the likes of El Rufai, Fashola, or Soludo can lead us closer to the promised land.

Insha Allahu, we shall be great again.

Whatever their challenges cannot explain attacking people sleeping and killing them.

Don't be too sure about this government, a President who divided his country into 95% and 5% has nothing good to offer.
Please stop accusing a whole group of people of murder. The authorities have captured several people dressed like herdsmen while perpetrating crimes such as kidnapping and murder. I'm pretty sure that you personally have no evidence of such a crime but are allowing your hatred for the herdsmen to take control of your sensibilities.

Reyginus:
You are using an example that would not be as effective. Using the Yoruba as a reference point in this case is not possible because even without having a state to call theirs they have been able to coexist irrespective of Religion. It's only a Yoruba man who has a Christian wife, a Christian first son, a Muslim daughter, a traditional worshipper for a brother but yet make nothing or little out of it.

The Tiny countries in Europe show it's workable. Our fear should be how to start so as not to end up like South Sudan with a fake Freedom Fighter and Foolish President. The start is what matters. The problem may also arise from improper separations. Like forcing people of a different tongue and values eg, IPOB forcing SS states to join in the union because of the mineral deposits.
I cannot come up with any scenario which could jumpstart your idea without resulting to war, as a practical matter. Would you be kind enough to profer a path towards this utopia?

In other words, they were threatened, that is why they are killing.

Is that your point?
It is very easy to trivialize a very difficult and complex problem, but that will never be helpful. The herdsmen have very legitimate problems which affects their lives and livelihoods. At the same time other Nigerians who have become involved in conflicts with the herdsmen also do not deserve justice.

The current administration will come up with a plan to address the fundamental and root causes of these problems and find reasonable solutions. One would expect such solutions to include reserving land areas across the country (much like a 'herdsman' highway) and making those areas exclusively for the transportation of cattle and family of the herdsmen who also have a constitutional right to free movement across this great country.

You people have your own highways where you transport your goods and families peacefully; the herdsmen deserve nothing less. As long as their needs are neglected by our governments, I'm afraid the trouble will continue.

It's very difficult. I'm not pessimistic but our differences will be too large for it to work. Our problem in this country, that is, pertaining unity, is simply the problem of Religion and Tribalism. And we cannot wipe out the two. Doing what Europe did will go a long way in helping us. Let people with similar ideology, language, and beliefs to go their way no matter how small. We are too heterogeneous. I don't think we can ever understand our differences.
As a practical matter, the idea of letting people with similar ideology, language, and belief go their way may actually give rise to hundreds of tiny countries which are worse off in every ramification than Nigeria. Take any major tribe, say Yoruba, you'd note that the tribe does not have a common ideology language or religion. There are Xtians, Moslems, Animists, Ogun worshippers etc among them. The same can be said for every other major tribe in this great country.

I need your advice, how do we respond next time when the Fulani herdsmen attack a community in Enugu?

One, we are not murderers like them and to, we don't want the attacks to continue.
Wouldn't you agree with me that it is better to nip the Herdsmen issue in the bud rather than being reactionary about it? If the herdsmen can travel across the country as they've done for the past couple of hundred years without their livelihoods threatened by urban sprawl and other life threatening incidents, you will not have to worry about herdsmen defending themselves.

This is jokingly moronic. Of course, nobody goes around slapping people on slightest of provocation. I do not think any right thinking fellow would want to overthrow any government of a zoo such as Nigeria. Who really wants such forsaken country and headache? The IPOB and MASSOB will happily wish that the dilapidated country with no future such as Nigeria will run parallel with country such as Biafra so that people can regret the life span of Nigeria.
If wishes were horses, dellusional IPOB an MASSOB, lead by folks like Dedetwo, would ride.

Lets all agree to obey the laws of this great country and also agree that all lawbreakers should be punished according to the law and for each crime they are charged with. Thus if you are found not guilty of your first crime, while you've comitted multiple crimes, and you are now charged with additional crimes, you should be man enough to face the music.
