Any idea why you were denied initially, I'm torn between choosing avant and O'Grady. Pls advice
No idea why the denials. But I guess the body language of the administration then wasn't pro-immigration, but that has also long chgd.

At the end, the outcome is same. Back then, O'Grady's process is simpler and faster while Avants was more complicated with several bureaucratic layers. Knew a few contemporaries who left earlier than Avants prospects. Don't know what it is now.

Whichever you follow, the present administration is friendlier, making immigration landscape less 'uncertain'. Baring any i-140 denials, Avants took 18months, O'Grady took less than that for some ppl i knew.

Lol..That boat long sailed. Denied a 2nd time, reapplied a 3rd time before it pulled thru. Took a total 3yrs, from initial application.

After the 2nd denial, went for my low hanging fruit. It was when I was already comfortably settled somewhere else, that's when it now went thru. Had to grapple with whether I was still interested or not.

Its all in the past now.

The strategic failure of American politics is allowing China and Russia to unite.

That was an amateurish mistake that the likes of Henry Kissinger would never have made.

China is the real threat, as far as western civilisation is concerned.

Their cities are world class, their prosperity is world class, their education is world class, and their technology is world class, and their exports, supply chain and manufacturing is peerless and cutting across every sector.

A true superpower in the making that Russia will never be.

Seriously, I am smarter than most of these politicians and diplomats.
Very accurate. America and Europe are living in the past.

The US core foreign strategic interest should be:
China
Asia
Africa

Yinmu As always grin grin in as much as I don’t like bloodshed , but guy America is scared Including NATO. If Russia is not a Super power forget this lies they’re blabbing that it’s because Ukraine is not member that’s why they can’t strike .
NATO would have defied international law and NATO principles to massage their EGO.

Ukraine is the second biggest European country yet it’s been decimated In less than 48 hours .
Eastern Europe will be conquered by Russia in a matter of days if Russia wants to go all out .

America, France , Uk can’t risk a War right now not because of world peace but the fact that they want to remain superpowers . Going to War will expose them . China and Russia are eager for war. NATO will be praying China don’t invade Taiwan, That’ll be a must fight for them

For the sake of integrity.but I doubt if they’ll fight only sanctions can be meted out nothing more nothing less . Just as NATO shy away from Ukraine that’s how some NATO members will refuse to support a full-scale blown war with Russia or China .
At the end it’s only America, Israel , Uk, France that will fight . The rest are not reliable.
Unfortunately, I agree with you mostly. The US may join the fray if Putin crosses out of Ukraine. That's where it becomes irreversible.

[[s]quote author=franchasng post=110524807]I have said this countless times.

NATO will destroy Russia in few days should war escalate but the problem is leadership. Current leaders of NATO member nations are cowards, they lack the willpower and courage to use their strength and might. Even to disconnect Russia from SWIFT they cant summon the courage to do it and cripple Russian economy immediately.

If Vladimir Putin was a US President right now, Russia will be retreating in hours.

Its not as if Russia is that strong, yes they have military might but they are almost a poor country, but they have a strong man as President who understands the law of power and how to lead a war. He talks tough thereby making opponents to see Russia as the greatest giant. Vladimir Putin is the strongest President on earth right now but Russia is never the strongest nation.

Some people are rich but don't command the respect, thats the case of US now under Pa Joe Biden. US have gradually become a toothless bulldog under Democratic leadership, what a shame.

Just make Vladimir Putin the President of US and Joe Biden the President of Russia and watch Russians pissing in their pants with fear.

In as much as I condemn Russian invasion of Ukraine, I must admit that I admire Putin's courage and guts, its unparalleled [/s]

You call it Coward, but you fail to understand the World most especially the European countries have passed the stage where the immediate Show of strength is there immediate reaction.
They know the power of War,they will never make the first move when it comes to war in this current dispensation and time. For you to know, currently the European countries are just like Big Brothers and that shouldn't be mistaken for weakens.
Russia should face all penalties the US are imposing on them , if putin is wise enough he will safe Russia Economy by pulling out.
And there is no Single Leadership problem With NATO, the only thing I see here is mature minds who are not ready to hit back fire for fire. But by through vital sanctions.
So why are the sanctions not yet vital and coming heavy, and why treat Putin with kid's gloves.

The reason is cos they are cowards. They know what to do, they don't want to do it for their selfish individual interest. Their US big brother is weak, so EU is able to get away with its cowardice, and risk plunging us all into another nasty global crisis.
Foreign AffairsRe: Jean-Yves Le Drian: Putin Needs To Understand NATO Has Nuclear Weapons by nervorum: 7:18am On Feb 25, 2022
Pure trash!

90% of nukes are shared btw the toothless US and Russia, with the latter having abt 6000,and the former about 5500.

The EU is weak. Their selfishness would restrain a coordinated, swift and impactful response, and therein is their downfall. They had the resources to stop this, they refused to deploy.

The present US govt has failed to show courage, not necessarily militarily. 45 was an unstable character, but he showed courage, he barks and bites. 46 is as toothless as the EU. Too much talking!

History is being written before our own eyes. The balance of power may chg after this.

Ukraine and the Baltic states would likely pay a hefty price.

This crisis was avoidable. Support Ukraine to be neutral, in exchange for western style democracy. That way Putin's fear is allayed. Use economic tools to Partner Russia against China. Russia has since stopped being the problem of the West, its China and N. Korea.

First it was pestilence, now the sword is looming.

Biden is a total failure. Trump would never have allowed this madness to go on
I don't see what Trump may have done different. Would he have dicided to go fight with Russia to stop Putin? The only way the US is justified to come in is when Putin gets too power drunk to invade Poland, Estonia or Lithuania. If that hpns, welcome to ww3.

Ukraine and America are going to be the big losers.

Ukraine would have adopted a pacifist stance knowing they are not in NATO, and the fact that if Russia invades no one will help.

America would have soft pedalled on Ukraine application to joining Nato as per the Minsk agreement. The US needs Russia to deal with the most crucial battle loomin, which is China.
Now that Putin has called everyone's bluff, China will now see how toothless the US has become. Ditto for the rocket man.

Why the West with its economic powers cannot severely punish Putin is what I don't understand. I pity Ukraine.

Europe (Western) is largely dependent on Russian energy, they can't dare the 'boss' America can't be involved beyond NATO commitment. Ukraine is not in the NATO alliance.

Putin ain't kidding... Every US President has released this kind of message President Biden is passing to her citizens especially in times of war

I honestly don't blame Putin

Ukraine joining NATO and providing Military base and support for Russian Western enemies might spell doom for Russia

Imagine Nigerian enemy like Boko Haram or ISWAP forming allegiance with Benin Republic or Cameroon and building a massive military base in Cotonou and other border cities near Nigeria

Or Biafra Republic hearing that Mayetti Allah and Delta State are now Military ally and ranches would be built for meyetti Allah around Biafra border town in Delta close to Onitsha

Will US also allow Mexico or Canada to be Military ally of Northkorea , Iran, or Russia with Russian military base surrounding them

Double standard is when Almighty America invaded Iraq because they falsely suspected Sadam of building a non existing weapon of mass destruction or when they bully Northkorea and Iran from developing Nuclear technology and expect Russia to allow Ukraine open its territory to all of its western enemies

.
I agree with you, which is why Ukraine would have adopted a neutral approach. But again, how could this be when they are constantly under Russian threat? Would you rather not consider aligning with a bloc when you live in the shadows of a bully? There is no easy way out, except Putin shelves his ambition.

For you to type this nonsense, your skull must be empty grin after America and great Britain had stolen all your natural resources in the name of democracy, you still have the audacity to type this fallacy in their defence?
If as you claim, America can deal with Russia, why haven't they dispatched their disabled troops to Ukraine to actually "Deal" with them there?
If this was another country that was threatening another country that share border with them. I can guarantee you that USA would've threatened them with military responds already. But since it is Russia, they're not even willing to rescue their own citizens in ukraine once Russian hardwares start rolling in? cool
The 'unwillingness' of America to 'rescue their own citizens' is a strength, not a weakness. Russia is a military superpower. You don't want to see both sides in a conflict. The USA did the responsible thing, which is to sound the alarm and ask everyone to leave now that they can, and moved their embassy from Kyiv (possible direct line of fire).

Again, America cannot send boots in defence of Ukraine, cos there no grounds for that. Ukraine is neither a US territory nor part of NATO. This is not officially America's war
Foreign AffairsRe: Putin Has Decided To Invade Ukraine On Wednesday - Intelligence Report by nervorum: 11:10pm On Feb 12, 2022
God's word had forewarned of things to come; wars and rumours of war. Things would gradually get worse world over, wouldn't they? Let God's word comfort his people in austere times.

I see this conflict potentially escalating to a wider crisis, involving 'military blocs' , beyond Putin's imagination. If he dares encroach Poland or Romania, a wider conflagration becomes unavoidable.

Surely, China is watching how Russia-Ukraine plays out for applicable lessons for takeover of Taiwan, as both have similar 'imperialist' agenda.

I pity the Ukrainians who have been abandoned. You want to align with a Western Europe who Russia has in an economic vice grip.

I pity those who believe Biden's warning to leave NOW is hysteria.

Unfortunately there is little the already weakened America can do.

These are trying times for Europe, as this is happening at a time when renewed tensions in the Balkans are reaching a crescendo. Europe had always midwived World wars.

Too many broken marriages, and will get worse cos we all disregarded God's simple instruction, as contained in the Bible, guiding marriage. Rather than work hard towards alignment, we put concerted effort towards deliberately questioning it and then making our own rules. The results are obvious to us. Our uneducated parents were wiser and happier.

Aunty, calm down. Don't be carried away by his profession or practise.

It's exciting to emigrate now, especially when you have an opportunity.

Take the schl of nursing offer. You'r alrdy 25. You would still land in the US with any form of nursing education from Nigeria, ON YOUR OWN. TERMS.

What will you do if he doesn't send you to schl?

Don't be deceived by those who say you'd get student loan for education while you're there, the reality maybe different cos of your visa status.

I recently graduated from the university and i got admission in school of nursing here in Nigeria.

I have an uncle who is based in USA and he wants me to come over to USA and take care of his child for two yrs. After two yrs,he will sponsor me to any school of my choice n within the two yrs,i will be doing part time program.

I will be 25yrs this year.

Should i continue with my nursing school which will be resuming on April or accept the offer.I am in a dilemna.

Pls advice me.
Mod pls help move it to front page .Thanks all
Depends on what you really want; join the 'abroad wagon' now now or education. Whatever the case, grabbing the schl of nursing offer maybe the easiest route. With schl of nursing, you can still get to that America on your own terms, at worse, to the UK. The 2 years you would use baby sitting would push you more than half way thru nursing training. If you go to the US now, say, on a visitors visa to help your uncle, even when you start any form of college education, you may not be eligible to free or 'home tuition'

Sometimes the best route is usually not the shortest.

You have a potentially fantastic opportunity with the offer of nursing education. Don't tie your destiny to the promises of a mortal.

It's simple. Ban all Nigeria-bound UAE passport holders travelling thru other airlines. It's called diplomatic reciprocity.

It maybe tough, maybe more losses on our side, yes, but both parties would count their losses.

Importantly, we must begin to assert ourselves. The diplomatic bullying is getting out of hand. We are a sovereign state. Our action/reaction is symbolic for other African nations. Most other countries with poor quality leadership as we do fare better. We will not continue to accept to be underdogs.

God give us courageous leaders.

Ok, I'd fill you in on the basics.

Australia needed a strategic response to Chinese expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. In the Trump America first era, they had no one else to turn to except France who agreed to supply them diesel powered submarines + maintenance, training etc.

Contract is underway, the french has gone on to invest heavily in prep to production, the returns has been factored into future plans, only for the US & UK to secretly hijack the deal and announce the AUKUS (Australia-UK-US) security pact which includes supply of nuclear powered subs to Australia! Australia immediately cancelled the existing contract with France.

The french are angered because:
a) They are supposed to be best friends with the UK & US. Real friend's don't treat each other like that.
b) If it's nuclear powered subs the Aussies want, France make those too. It could have renegotiated the deal.
c) If indeed the fear is for China's rise, won't AUKUS be stronger as FAUKUS? why leave France out of it only to cheat her off a £65B deal?

My small addition, China is rising and China will rise. Every nation has the right to rise. It is not a criminal ambition to rise. UK once ruled the world and the US is currently rulling it. Why all these shenanigans to stop China's rise?

Hence AUKUS is a criminal gang up, IMVHO, against an innocent China. It will therefore fail and it's failure has heralded it's begining.
I like the perspective expressed in your penultimate paragraph. Indeed every nation has a right to rise. While the rise of other nations would bring checks and balances, I personally have concerns about how China and Russia would become if they have enormous power, looking at how they support and prop up irresponsible and rogue govts.

Like every nation has a right to rise, every nation reserves the right to form strategic alliances with whoever they choose, to protect their interest. China's assertion and irresponsible (in my view) land grabbing recently (in the south China Sea) is deeply concerning

Oga, im not a foreign policy expert neither are you. We are just sharing our views in a public forum respectfully, as civilized ppl do, no need for the insolent tone.

Energy is both a political and economic tool. There is a reason it was blocked by the Trump administration (reasonably so). You cannot be asking the US to defend you against an enemy (via NATO) , yet find it okay to have a crucial trade partnership (with a huge implication on your economy) with your supposed rival. When Germany becomes the chief financier of NATO, they can choose to 'dine' with Russia all they want. THAT GAS PIPELINE WOULD BE WEAPONIZED BY PUTIN'S Russia. Pls bookmark this comment.

Every country wants to have a tactical advantage in the global power play. Putin excels at this.
