Foreign AffairsRe: Donald Trump: "A Parade For Me In Nigeria, A Great Honor!" by nervorum: 7:59pm On Nov 03, 2020
I was listening to a radio program airing from Lagos today when folks indicated their choice of Donald Trump. Someone actually said cos Trump was Pro-Christian and pro-israel.

I wonder why people who supposedly go to Church including pastors believe God loves Israelis more than Palestinians or Nigerians. Yet they believe Jesus died for all.

The same 'parochialness' that led Nigerians to usher in the suffering we are enjoying now is the same that is making those women and the church supporting them partake in that rally. We are mostly unable to make decisions outside our primitive emotions of tribe and religion.

Black people in Africa; the leaders and the led, the pastors and the congregants, we all are at the bottom of the pyramid of evolution. Others have the trait for idiocy, we excel at it.

How do you reconcile folks who don't have voters card in their home country being interested in US election cos they think a candidate is God's choice? So much so a church could actually hold a rally for someone who does not care about them.
Christianity EtcRe: #EndPoliceBrutality: Pastor Adeboye 'We Either Restructure Nigeria Or Breakup' by nervorum:
Militancy started in Odi, Bayelsa state when frustrated youths decided to take their destiny into their hands as a result of govt insensitivity, and we watched as it morphed into criminality and kidnapping and we have not recovered from it more than 10 years on.

Successive govts have neglected Nigerians for so long and not listened to calls to 'work Nigeria'

I see these protests evolve into something else. This maybe the beginning..

A combination of a largely young populace, ASUU strike (with youths at home) , high unemployment rate and the prevalent extreme hardship with a tinder of #EndSARS protest, could potentially snowball into a huge blaze.

Arab spring started with a petty trader who set himself ablaze as a result of police oppression. The world has not recovered.

You need to be in America to understand the country is presently heading so fast to a cliff.

Way I see it? Trump may win this election, not because he is popular outside the southern US. But if that happens, that may be the sure beginning of the end of another super power. Empires rise and fall.

I promised to stop offering medical advice here, but for the sake of your sister having severe pain, I have to simply tell you that it is not a fungal infection. Fungal infections don't cause severe pain!
Another source of concern is that you didn't say anything about trauma to get toe.
If it's bacterial infection, there will be swelling, but there's no relative edema compared to other digits.

So, and unfortunately, I'm sorry to tell you that she may have ungal melanoma, which is very deadly. Please take her to doctor quickly so that they can rule out metastasises. Good luck.
Ungal melanoma? Common things occur commonly.

Every morning and evening before applying any medication, light up a candle and allow the water droplet to fall on the affected part of the toes and foot..once the hot candle wax solidifies, scrap n repeat for like 6 times...it will burn the mites faster....

Hi,

This may be gout. This is caused by excessiv uric acid in your blood. Its a kind of arthritis. The excessive uric acid in your blood forms sharp crystals in one of your joints, can be the toe and is very painfull indeed.

Most gout cases happen in big toes. It usually affects only one joint at a time. But without treatment, you might end up with it in your knee, ankle, foot, hand, wrist, or elbow. Flare-ups can last up to 10 days. They hurt the most during the first 36 hours

Until your appointment, you can ice and elevate the joint, and take anti-inflammatory drugs such as naproxen and ibuprofen. Drink plenty of fluids, especially water. Stay away from alcohol or sweet drinks.

Ensure to go to a doctor asap.

Wish she gets better.
Misleading. That's not a gouty toe.

HealthRe: My Sister's Foot And Toe Are Causing Her A Lot Of Pain (Pictures) by nervorum: 5:53am On Aug 11, 2020
What i see:

1. Very poor hygiene
2. Athletes' foot
3. Ingrowing toenail with nail bed infection (fungal with likely bacterial superimposed)

Sugestion:

1. Improve hygiene. No walking bare foot, no cover shoes. Web must be completely dry after bath. Unscented talc powder can be helpful. Emolient or non scented petroleum jelly on sole and heels after washing.

2. Pls TAKE HER TO HOSP. This is the wisest and cheapest option. This lesion would require indicated antifungal with susceptible antiobiotics following swab culture sensitivity. If nail infection persists, skillful wedge resection of ingrown nail would be done. Or, straight forward nail resection done without conservative trial.

So you see it would be foolhardy to do self treatment on this one. Dare it at her own risk.

Anyone recommending any particular medicines is not being helpful to you.

Go to hosp, do the correct thing.

Interesting spot diagnosis. You are correct. It could be. Lets rule out hearing loss and or hair hypopigmentation. My bet is on mild Osteo imperfecta.

Nice eyes.

Black people with with blue eyes is linked to an ancient genetic mutation, and a small fraction get their blue eye color as a result of a health condition such as ocular albinism, which affects the pigmentation in the eye.
I don't think this is ocular albinism. Those eyes are not hypopigmented, they are bluish. It doesn't also look strabismic.

This is mostly likely a very mild form of osteogenesis imperfecta, an abnormality in the gene that codes for collagen. I think its autosomal dominant (not sure again). Severe cases would have other concomittant manifestation including easy bone fracturing, dental issues, blood vessel conditions, even hyperextensible skin and bones, while mild cases may just have blue sclera. Specifically type 1 collagen defect manifest as blue sclera (bluish colouration of the black of the eye).

This is a 'beautiful anomaly'. Watch how pretty those kids turn out.
FamilyRe: Time To Divorce My Wife? by nervorum: 6:17pm On May 05, 2020
noakchukibadan:
Hello,

Please no ethnic banters. One of us is from Ekiti, and the other is from Benue. I am married for 8 years with 2 kids. It has been one problem to another.

I must be very frank, before marriage, my wife had many very questionable characters, but unfortunately we did the marriage counseling in a church were the pastor happened to be her family member. Many of the issues would have been resolved, but when I raised those issues about her character the pastor promised me that everything will be fine after the marriage.
Although this is not an excuse, but looking back now I would have been more patient and taken my decision myself instead of rushing into the marriage. For this I HOLD MYSELF ACCOUNTABLE

There is hardly nothing we do not quarrel about, I have always been the one to initiate settlement. The only way I ensure that there is peace in the house is for me not to complain about anything. Even at that, there is always trouble. If the children do anything wrong, she always says those characters the children are exhibiting are not from her and that she is not surprised that they inherited such characters from me.

She can go for months without talking to me, even if I tried to, I have done all I could do, I have begged, cried prayed. I just feel tired and exhausted from trying to make the marriage work or have peace in the home, the sad part is that she often reminds me every time there is misunderstanding that I should remember that she can stay on her own without talking to any body. Just to add, she is very prayerful.

OTHER INFORMATION.
1. I can say conveniently that there is no money problem at home. Finance is okay.
2. I went to see her father 2 years ago, the man said unfortunately he can not do anything. This is true because she was raised away from her Father, she has no contact with any of her fathers family and her father has a zero say in her life.
3. she has 5 elders ones, non of them is in communication with her because of many unresolved issues. Of her 3 younger ones she only maintains a relationship with the last boy who is just 14 years. .
4. Her mum can not talk to her because she simply dares not. However, behind, her mother use to beg me and she kept saying she understands her daughter's character and that she is doing her best by praying and doing deliverance for her.
5. She is not in contact with her maternal uncles and aunt because she said they supported her elder ones when she had problem with them.

So I am stuck with no one to help call the both of us and resolve the issue.

Every year for 5 straight years, she always forgets my birthday, last year, she forgot also, three days later, she bought me a present and I refused to collect the present and I asked her why does she keep forgetting my birthday, year after year for 5 years. She just said sorry, but I left the present in the room, she never bothered to bring the present to me. Another birthday was gone yesterday 2nd May, and as I write, no happy birthday yet.

I literally cook for myself, and all domestic things I do for myself.

I will end this by saying that in fairness to her, her character was not too different before the marriage and courtship, sincerely only once, that was like one year before the marriage I broke up with her, she came to apologize and promised that she will change. Her mother also came to apologize to me also.

This woman has refused to change or allow peace to hold sway, she is right every time, while everybody around is wrong. Sincerely, I do not know what to do anymore.

I am tired and exhausted. I do not know what to do anymore. I am 42, I was diagnosed of high blood pressure 2 years ago.
God hates divorce.

Have you tried Jesus? If you make your ways right with him, he is able to sort the storm of your marriage.

Trust me, no one else has experienced exactly what you're passing thru to qualify advising you. Turn your life to God, let him sort this mess.

This country is just a mess. I pity these doctors.

HealthRe: Why A Strike By Resident Doctors In ESUT, Enugu Is Illegal by nervorum: 6:39am On Apr 26, 2020
OEPHIUS:
ASSOCIATION OF RESIDENT DOCTORS (ARD) ESUT TEACHING HOSPITAL PARKLANE ENUGU, THREAT TO EMBARK ON STRIKE

By the provisions of Section 31 (6) (a) of the Trade Union Act, Cap. T14, LFN, 2004, as amended by the Trade Union (Amendment) Act, No. 17 of 2005, it is unlawful for any person, trade union or employee that engage in the provision of essential services to take part in a strike or lockout or engage in conduct in contemplation or furtherance of a strike or lockout.

Section 7 (1) (b) (iv) of the Trade Dispute (Essential Services) Act, Cap. T9, LFN, 2010 clearly define essential service as any service in connection with hospitals, the treatment of the sick and the prevention of disease.

The Resident Doctors of University College Teaching Hospital Parklane Enugu are engaged in rendering essential services within the contemplation of Section 48 (1) of the Trade Disputes Act, Cap. T8, LFN, 2004; Section 7 (1) (b) (iv) of the Trade Dispute (Essential Services) Act, Cap. T9, LFN, 2010 and 31 (6) (a) of the Trade Union Act, Cap. T14, LFN, 2004, as amended by the Trade Union (Amendment) Act, No. 17 of 2005. Consequently, they are not in law entitled to embark or threaten to embark on any strike.

In 2010, in SUIT NO. NIC/EN/16/2010; A-G ENUGU STATE V. NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENT GENERAL AND DENTAL PRACTITIONERS (NAGMDP) AND ANOR, the National Industrial Court on the 20th of June, 2011 held that service in a hospital is essential service under the Nigerian Law.

Similarly, in NICN/EN/226/2013; UNIVERSITY COLLEGE TEACHING HOSPITAL BOARD V. NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF RESIDENT DOCTORS OF NIGERIA & 2 ORS, the National Industrial Court on the 23rd June, 2014 decided that the Resident Doctors are engaged in the provision of essential services and cannot take part in any strike, or engage in any conduct in contemplation or furtherance of any strike/industrial action.

Out of abundance of caution, when the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) ESUT Teaching Hospital Parklane Enugu, by a letter dated 28th day of February, 2020 threatened to embark on industrial action, the Enugu State Government in SUIT NO: NIC/EN/16/2020, ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT V. DR. EDOGA CHIME EMMANUEL & ANOR took our Originating Summons on the 2nd of March, 2020 for the court to determine whether in view of the extant laws and earlier decisions the Resident Doctors can embark on a strike action.

Following the Originating Summons, Motion Ex Parte and Motion on Notice filed and upon the hearing of the Motion Ex Parte, the National Industrial Court sitting in Enugu on 2nd March, 2020 issued an order restraining the Resident Doctors, ESUT Teaching Hospital Parklane Enugu from embarking on any strike pending the determination of the Motion on Notice. That order has been duly served on the representatives of the Resident Doctors and they have filed their response to the court processes served on them through their lawyer. That case is still pending in court and coming up for hearing on the 20th of May, 2020.

We, therefore, view with dismay the threat by the same Resident Doctors, ESUT Teaching Hospital Parklane Enugu to embark on strike in the face of this Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic, worst still when there have been decisions of court against such an action and subsisting order of injunction restraining the Resident Doctors, ESUT Teaching Hospital Parklane Enugu from embarking on strike/industrial action.

The threat to embark on strike made by the Resident Doctors, ESUT Teaching Hospital Parklane Enugu in the face of the subsisting order of a court of competent jurisdiction is unlawful and unjust. A subsisting Court order must be obeyed until it is set aside.

CONCERNED ENUGU STATE CITIZENS
Engaging in media propaganda in this matter is foolery. Everyone in Enugu knows how irresponsible govt has been in this matter, and doing this rather than taking the short cut of resolving the matter honestly, further demonstrates that.
Isn't it better for govt to keep its commitment than resort to cheap blackmail and running helter skelter?
A govt of lies and liars.

Hemorrhoids.

If not painful, then likely not external, meaning there is an increased chance of bleeding, if predisposing conditions are not taken care of.
You shld visit your doctor for assessment.

However if no pain, bleeding or itching, then one could attempt some home remedy

1. Modify your diet. Ensure you are not constipated and not straining. Stay well hydrated, take lotta fruits and veggies. Constipation would worsen it and complication could set in faster. If you reach there, surgical removal becomes inevitable. Daily very soft bowel movement shld be the goal. No straining.

2. Try losing weight, if you'r overweight (hopefully, you don't have chronic cough)

3.If you are pregnant (i doubt) -pls go straight to see your doctor as your pregnancy maybe the predisposing factor.

4. Stop anal sex (predisposes you plus its an abomination before God).

5. Some OTC Anusol suppository would help reduce it. Anusol-HC, preferably.

Disclaimer: The above is intended for informational purpose ONLY and does not constitute any form of remedy. If you are sick please visit your healthcare provider for professional care

Very in-sensitive, non-empathetic government.

Is there no other way you can urge people to stay home other than drawing our attention to the sad reality of what is going on in other countries?

Have respect for the innocent lives lost in those countries please

You urge us to stay indoors but what have you provided us with?

No electricity for comfort, no water supply, no FOOD, no money.

Foolish people and their supporters
Nigerians have a choice: Stay home for now to break the chain of infection or risk a 'harvest of death'. Thats fact, not politics. Its what it is. Nothing unempathic with that

Better to deal with the inconvenience of hunger, no electricity and water than dare this pestilence. Only the living can complain. The hungry succumb to hunger, covid kills both the hungry and fed.

What you see on tv happening in Europe and America is not propaganda.

If you love your kinsmen, stay at home (for now).

It's a socially responsible thing to do so.

This newspaper piece is a mix of fact and misinformation.

The US State dept was only asking doctors who are already ecfmg-certified, who have not applied for or whose visas had been denied or delayed to apply/reapply for consideration, in view of the pandemic.
It does not mean they want healthcare professionals to just apply for visas to come over. It was for those persons who were already in the skilled-migration route.

The ban on Nigeria-origin migrant visas still stands. The visa issued to doctors who are already ecfmg-certified are in the non-immigrant category. That issued to US registered nurses are in the migrant (green card) category.

PS: Many have left before now. Too many. I see the immediate post-covid era opening more migrant doors for nurses and doctors, except Nigeria fixes the health sector as an emergency. And the public hold the govt responsible than blaming these heroes when they go on strike.
