Eye service... after collecting settling fees. Abi you think that police that charges #100 for you to borrow a pen will administer first aid for free? And after administering, did they not threaten to take them to station for "disturbing the peace" unless settled? |
The problem is not that they own a private practice - it's that they only come in once a week or so to the public institution, which is akin to dereliction of duty (something PMB is well-versed in). OK, so I can say my wife or sister owns the private hospital, not me, does this white paper ban me too? |
Maybe Lagosians should stop making so much damn trash. People will throw pure water wrappers and empty bottles anyhow then complain that the streets are dirty and drainages are clogged. Instead of people paying for trash service and town council, they will take their dustbin to the roadside for who-knows-who to remove. Just a thought... |
Gerrard59:How about the skills you need to get a few carpenters together working for you, and become a maker and seller of quality furniture? Shoemaking: hire people to make shoes for you, and grow to become a major manufacturer. Fashion: find out the profit margins of those who studied fashion, create your own brand, and have them sew for your brand. Long story short: nobody got wealthy strictly off their own efforts: you can only make so many widgets in your waking hours. Wealth is built by harnessing many people's collective hours to produce things lots of people want, and taking a small profit from each unit sold. School only teaches people to be good employees (barely), and certificates just say: "this person obediently jumped through hoops with us, which shows he might be good at jumping through hoops at your company". There are not enough jobs for Nigerian youths to go around. Some of us have to be entrepreneurs... and those take skills that we're not taught at school. |
nwakibie3:Please tell him how "the more certificates you have, the higher your salary" . In fact, forget starting at the bottom, you can be MD today. I think I saw some news about people's certificates being found as epa or suya wrappers. ![]() |
Women... trust them at your peril ![]() Taking off ring to boost your ego, and so guys will flirt and buy you drinks... I guess they didn't have enough when they were single eh? |
divinelove: philanjay: Ghidey:What did divinelove say that is wrong: Ekiti is a poor state, and Government has not demonstrated ability to pay for its existing obligations. Why introduce new liabilities, when you've not added a plan to generate new revenues. He's not mentioned a concrete, actionable plan to increase revenues, but is quick to increase spending. That makes no sense. Nigerian governments (fed and state) are notoriously inefficient at spending public money on education - we have many many examples of this. Instead of reducing the amount of money spent by parents (which really translates to inadequate facilities and unpaid teachers), the government should be focused on increasing job opportunities for those parents, which would translate to a higher standard of living, and revenue for the state. The man has connections - invite industrialist to setup factories (take a cue from Ogun state in the last decades); give tax-incentives; harness your agricultural base; empower your educated workforce to become entrepreneurs. The money used for "free education" would see a better turnover if used to jumpstart companies (and government can arrange to keep 10% non-voting equity in those companies)... There's a time and place for free education, but not until there are solid revenues and a system to support it forever. |
With what revenue governor? Perhaps if you reduced your entourage, car fleet, feeding budget, and a modest inauguration, you might barely be able to pay teachers, forget "free education" where the schools have no walls, and "free lunch" where the chicken is barely recognizable. |
hopexter:True talk my broda... sadly it's ATM fees that affects them personally... the death of other Nigerians doesn't matter to them ![]() |
Samanza89:Neither party has anything meaningful to offer... just the same recycled failures that stole leadership in their late 20's, ran a country with so much potential into the ground, and are still dragging leadership in their 70s. And we mumus have let them have their way for 50 years! |
“We wish him well in his new political party, and want to assure APC members in his constituency that his departure will translate into huge success for our party,” he said. See casting ![]() |
We really need our leaders to have a basic love for Nigeria and Nigerians. Why should small water be the reason for deaths? This is not 1800 anymore... No guard rails, just like we don't care to keep our gutters covered. More than once we see cars entering gutter after rain, because of open drainage. It must also be said that the driver is also responsible for driving recklessly, in disregard of road conditions, perhaps with bald tires. FRSC will see the balding tires, but thanks to 500 naira, will let the driver go. RIP to the passengers. |
Samantha23:Well, if the option was another 4 years under the dullard, Biafra would have been the better option. As Atiku has demonstrated wisdom and sensitivity to Igbos, he has already started easing some of the tensions we've been experiencing, and I think this is a good start. Correct me if I'm wrong but, he might become the first Igbo (I didn't say Edo or SS) vice-president since Ekuwueme (Shagari's era); and certainly we haven't had an Igbo running mate in an election since 2007 (Buhari's running mate Ume-Ezeoke) |
izuzu:Yes. What's wrong with wanting all 4? What's the point of having money if you can't affect political decisions that will affect your money? What's the point of having position if you can't decide where money should flow to projects? Why can't all the regions of Nigeria have - in equal, fair amounts, the same benefits? If all regions felt that they had money power position and recognition - there would no longer be feelings of repression. |
ChrisMafian:Would He forgive a man who also created - directly and indirectly - tens of thousands of jobs? I'm not sure which is worse: the self-proclaimed "incorruptible" dullard who has starved his country men, or the business mogul who is alleged to have stolen, but has fed many too. I'm not saying I like either choice, but since these are who our elite has chosen for us youths... I'm just playing Devil's advocate. I was thinking Sowore would actually do something meaningful in this election, but I've not heard from him in weeks now... |
vanbonattel:I remember all the online support for GEJ... where did that get him? People are polling folks with Internet-enabled phones who have time and credit to poll online... that's a pretty small sample that's not in anyway representative of the country. |
quentin06:Actually he said that the maltreatment he received has made him question a lot we take for granted... he specifically does not want marriage, nor kids. |
fk001:It's funny that you think Atiku made this decision in a vacuum ... at his service are are at least a dozen astute political players (from all over Nigeria) with whom he's done the math. I'd assume their opinions are a little informed than any of us commentators (most of who cannot even win estate chairman elections) |
OP, anytime the story gets longer than "please send small change make I flex", I know it's a scam. Send money to where? So with the long list of friends and relatives they have, nobody can contribute/borrow help the poor girl? Na me u wan take chop? If I hear. ![]() |
CROWNWEALTH019:Actually, any party is able to deny candidacy to anybody. If I start a party, I can refuse to endorse anybody I want. I can even be a "party of one", except it would be very hard to get the votes needed during elections without the support of other politicians. What the party cannot do, you're right, is decide the governor - that is for the people to decide at the polls... but they can certainly endorse whoever they like and have a direct say on who could be governor. |
asids55:I know this response is a bit late and not even relevant... but I wanted to piggyback on your question to ask: why must we put bathrooms and toilets upstairs? I'm not a big fan of "ensuite" in family homes since it just increases toilet count. I grew up in two houses that did not have ensuite, and so don't really see a need as an adult... I just see it as hassle because now we've got to pay for, clean, and maintain more toilets and bathrooms than needed. I'm seriously thinking we could save a lot of money and headache by just having the bathrooms downstairs, just like the kitchen, so we don't have to spend so much on piping, draining, pressure pumps, or tall water-tank stand. Just my thoughts... |
OP: most of the countries that you mention as being wealthy were once poor and "remote" parts of the world until they stopped believing so strongly and exclusively in mythical beings and started applying critical thought in their approach to nature (science and engineering), and to each other (rule of man-made laws and democratic government). I believe the Great Plague had a role to play in spurring a more "here-and-now"-centric approach to life (as opposed to the afterlife) once they realized that religion did not save an estimated 60% of Europe's total population from inexplicable death. Kingosytex:Actually it's an inverse relationship: the more religious a society, the poorer it tends to be. Europe was a relatively poor place up until 1500s when religion started losing its grip on people. Until then most human endeavor was used for the glory of the church. Religion was also used as rhetoric against new thoughts or finding solutions to present problems: if somebody died of disease or starvation, ... well, that was God's will; and afterall, after death one was assured an afterlife of abundance and happiness. It's my honest view that religion has done the most harm to humans, socioculturally, and in terms of increasing standards of living and productivity (which is wealth). It's not any particular religion - but the over-reliance on religion and the belief in mystical favor - that tends to determine a society's relative wealth. |
It's funny how one thread people will be screaming "Igbos" and "ipob". Then on another thread people will be screaming "afonja" and "tiger claw"... yet the bitter truth is the thing that unites us all in crime: being Nigerian. ![]() |
Yeah.... forget fame, makeup, social media. When our child's health or life is at stake, nothing else matters. That should remind us what's important in life.. |
Abeg, she should eat oh... baby and mom need all that fat and fluid to help a growing baby and help her bones and muscles adjust to the new person she's carrying. She should also remember she's now eating for two. I would never advice anyone to go on a diet when pregnant: this is the time to eat, and eat well for the sake of both mother and child. I think I saw fish... that's good. But are those carrots? Where's the carbs? She can diet after she finishes breastfeeding... but that's my own opinion. |
Chai... I usually support this girls efforts because she's trying, but I can't lie... this track is WHACK! ![]() I hope this song fails hard, so she knows she needs to come harder to impress us. I could not even watch the whole thing, just cringing. Sorry, this is a fail - ko le werk - and I say this as someone who wants her to succeed. Premiumwriter:Cringe-worthy lyrics... no skill displayed here at all. Weak as water. SMH |
Only one of these people remotely looks like he can bring finesse, sanity, and progress to the presidential position. |
Why should anybody step down. If Atiku is so confident, then he should face the primary vote without issue. Saraki all the way. We need people with smarts born in post-colonial Nigeria to take us into the future. People who actually went to school and learned something, whether it was law, medicine, economics, engineering, so they can apply some of that background to solving problems. He is the favoured opponent to send that lifeless, under-educated, self-loathing, pretender of dubious certification, back to his couch and cows. |
krendo:Wise analysis. And one major reason he was able to defeat Jona in 2015 was the massive support of SW politicians who wanted to ride the coattails of the Buhari wave into positions for themselves. |
BankeSmalls:I too would rather Saraki emerge as the PDP candidate. However, in comparison to the lifeless one, Atiku has actually built large businesses and employed people. He understands much better about economics, growth, industry. During his time as VP, standard of living in Nigeria improved tremendously, and we were hopeful of becoming a better country. Buhari has essentially eroded most of the gains of that period, in just 3 years. |
True talk? Well, police now have a valid reason to "collect their share", if you know what I mean. DOA law. And the major breakers of the ban, NASS members and other ogas. Let them come and arrest. oshi. ![]() |
Fukafuka:Yes na.! Not like before when you can anonymously disappear after getting alert. But seriously, when you enter account number, don't you see the name of the person that shows up? Then the app asks if you want to approve. I always check diligently to make sure I'm sending to the right person. Is it that hard? |
