Fine speech from a officer of the Nigerian army, who, though duty-bound to protect its Constitution and leaders, betrayed that trust and ousted his civilian boss for entirely selfish reasons.

If he was so interested in helping the country, what stopped him from resigning his commission and contesting elections back in 1983? Oh, he and his revolutionaries were going to change the country's trajectory? They sure did, and we haven't really recovered since... and then we put him in charge again? SMH

Even sowore knows a particular region is politically useless . He dare not pick a running mate from that region .
I will not mention that region
What are you talking? In this election, there is strong federal character in the tickets:

PMB + Osinbajo (NC + SW)
Atiku + Obi (NE + SE)
Sowore + Rufai (SW + NC)

Anybody with sense will see that you need a North ticket (for either #1 or vice) to carry this election, and it's reflected in all elections since 1999 (and 1979). Even military regimes had this sort of balance too: there's always one northerner (Gowon+Akinwale Wey, Murtala+Obasanjo, Buhari+Idiagbon, IBB+Aikhomu). Abiola+Kingibe was the winning ticket in 1993, and we could see a similar response in this 2019.

This is probably the best counter that Sowore can make... at least the NC has a reason to vote for him, given they're not entirely impressed with PMB. Middle-belt, SS, (and to some extent NW) are not represented, but that's another story.

Mrquincy:
My Question is "If the Police refuses to pay, in other words disobey the court order, what will happen since the Nigerian police cannot be arrested?. Someone knowledgeable should reply I want to learn.
First the Government (i.e. PMB) has to agree, then instruct IG to pay sums. Whether IG will obey his boss is another question entirely.

OK, if they disagree, Gov't can appeal the judgement, which can drag on for years.

Last - which is more to your question - the prosecution is OYO. Unfortunately, thus Gov't has proven more disobedient to court orders, which means "ain't sh1t gonna happen". It's up to us to elect the type of people that will follow court orders and due process.

How? These are part of the elites. None of these children will go hungry or be a financial burden on society. Because of these children, many many people will be employed during their lifetimes, and probably billions of Naira spent on their training, education abroad, feeding, housing, traveling, hospital, etc.

It even gets more painful for me that we are not working on a better candidate to succeed Buhari even if he is to be ousted from office. Atiku is not an option! Can we get a better candidate from a reasonable party other than PDP and APC.

Why? Those who started with state assembly, then governor, then national senator... what have they done to help Nigeria? If anything, the evidence suggest that those who start at state assembly, merely become bigger thieves with an eye on the national cake, not on service.

That's what people think. Unfortunately, it's more like argument every week. One has to have a lot of energy to just keep two women emotionally happy in the same house. Then spending money on twice the tissue paper, twice the pads, twice the other upkeep of women, plus the little jealous plays that you have to discern, and the fact that women will be best friends today, sworn enemies the next, then pals again.

And this is before children enter the picture.

So why can it be lanuch here on African continent embarassed
Because the idea is to promote Africa to outside investors. Our wealthy elite are always looking to buy property in Dubai and London and don't care about opportunities here. On the other hand foreign investors are looking to invest in Africa, and are looking for good reasons why.

Launching in Africa will only get you a disinterested audience that's just there to "go to a book launching event", talk endlessly and and show off their expensive clothes and iPads. At most you'll get small coverage on ChannelsTV without real action from investors.

That's why.

This is not hating. This is being puzzled about why anybody anywhere would still run out of forms in this day and age. Paper is plentiful and cheap, as is toner, and most printers are cheaper than a new Android phone. It's the lack of preparation and seriousness that pervades Nigeria (apparently it affects Chinese immigration in Nigeria, and they know Nigerians will tolerate it; I really doubt this happens in China or their UK embassy).

I hope you're not equating our traditional religion with darkness...

But this is something unique to Western beliefs: they don't understand the concept of "live and let live"... it's either their way or no way. Even their religion does not have space for multiple faiths. African traditions have always been multi-theistic, accommodating, and understanding that nobody has the sole, true answer to life and the complexities of the Universe.

Somebody please tell these oyinbos to come and carry their own traditional beliefs back with them. We Africans don't want again.

"dafur peace keeping failure"

See a nice map where peace keepers have been "keeping the peace" since 1949. Why do they never find lasting peace, and leave? Because it's never in their interest to create peace and leave.

Elder0001:
Disgusting.

African tradition has no respect for women.
Actually, African traditions have always had a healthy respect for women. What we imported from the West was a very misogynist religion that didn't even believe that women had souls until 1800s. Same thing with Islam. I argue that it's these Middle Eastern religions that people have imbibed that empowered selfish individuals to deny women their rights and existence. They picked and chose discriminatory parts of their religions and chose to apply it to subdue our womenfolk.

After all, before Islam and Christianity, women had always been breadwinners in their various societies, they had their voices heard, and played important roles in many ways. Women who farmed, owned a space in the market, sewed, braided hair, midwifed, traded extensively, etc... and thus participated materially in the economic and power structures of their societies. On the other hand, the Western Industrial complex didn't really admit women into the workplace until the mid 1800s, yet we had women doing all kinds of jobs since time immemorial. We even had powerful priestesses with real influence in African cultures - then the Christians came and said that women cannot be leaders in Church, until recently that is.

Of course there were exceptions, but generally, the average woman enjoyed much better freedoms and ownership of property in pre-colonial Africa than the average woman in Victorian England. Fact.

Culture › Re: Naomi Oluwaseyi, Ooni’s Wife Undergoing Rites To Be Queen. Nigerians React by nextstep(m): 3:47pm On Oct 19, 2018
People, even Jesus performed traditional rites in his time... his crucifixion for crying out loud, is a human sacrifice.

All the "Christian rites" we see and observe are a mix of European and Jewish traditions... yet we have no issue with all the symbolism of "blood of Jesus", water baptism, kneeling and crossing oneself, kissing various objects of Chrsitiandom (crucifix, rosary, stutues of Jesus, Mary, angels, saints), sanctified wine and bread, pouring olive oil, prayer napkins, swearing/affirming on the Bible, - which otherwise would have been called fetishism if it was Africans doing it. Ironically, the cross, a torture device by Romans to crucify criminals, found itself transformed into a sacred object kissed by millions.

Wake up. Our traditions will always be with us, while Christianity is a 100-year old fad (for Africans) that will pass in time. I place much more value in the rites of Ife than in anything imposed on us from England.

Enough complaining about leaders... when's the last time any of you said: "instead of washing my hands with André this weekend, let me buy equipment for the hospital in my LGA of origin?" How many have take even 10k that you will use to flex babe or buy hair and donated it to your local LGA?

And before pointing fingers in my direction, I have personally given away several 100k to my LGA in various ways over the years. I have never washed my hands with champagne nor do I ever plan to. I don't have the latest phone or car, nor do I ever plan to. What I have done is buy medicine, books, blocks and more; and given them away so that children in my community will benefit. I do so anonymously, and know a few people who do too, in their own way, according to their own means.

Americans are known as the most charitable people in the world per capita, giving a way a larger portion of their wealth and it shows in the society they have. If you see something lacking in your hometown, don't turn a blind eye, complain online because it's convenient to, then go and flex at night: do something meaningful and deep.
