I've seen over 50 throwback pictures of buhari here on Nairaland but not one throwback of him with his certificate undecided
grin grin grin grin grin

But seriously, I can understand why the uneducated masses voted for him, but why did all those ones with degrees decide that he was the messiah? See now... At least I'm glad he has had his chance to prove he's no magician, so we can all rest from the "if only Buhari became president" hand wringing.

You could say the same for the poo-packer, sewage unblocker, cement pan carrier, coal miner, boxer, and other people working in dangerous fields... they also put their bodies at risk, but take precautions.

But in other news, omo see free advertising... me ma sef want to check out the site grin
At first I started calculating 2.3M per year/5k per client = 460 clients. Divide that by 25 days of work per month that's 19 clients/day. Then I realized she makes 2.3M PER MONTH? shocked Chai! Konji has got to be the world's largest employer... and from the looks of it, she's also pimpin out girls online/offline... see correct business. Ghana should start taxing these girls oh

Travel › Re: Ethiopian Airlines Inaugurates All-female Crew Flight To Nigeria by nextstep(m): 12:40pm On Dec 18, 2017
AmoryBlacq:
Why should this be celebrated and made news?

The airline said, “In a country where few women have
dared to enter the highly male-dominated profession

implying, having few women in that profession is no fault of anyone save the women who refused to be daring!

Flip the coin, if these were men would we be reading this?

my point, gender equality is a mirage!
Wrong. It implies sexism, lack of opportunity/education, chauvinism and backwards mentality of society at large (by men and women), who would pull down any girl who dreams of being in the profession.

Here are some comments that I imagine girls and women are told:
"You want to what? please, nobody wants to marry a girl who can't..."
"You know you're not smart in math, so don't even try"
"I can't marry a woman who travels a lot... who will cook my food"
"It's too expensive to train you in this field"
"Ah... female pilot? The plane will crash! Don't even"
"Eh fine girl... why do you want to study so hard? Just be beautiful and your prince will come"

So before castigating women for not "daring", ask what message their society is telling them. I'm yet to hear of one story of a woman who achieved a major professional goal without overcoming a lot of negativity (up to and including... "she must have slept with someone to get that post". For men, on the other hand, nobody questions their abilities or dreams (based on gender).

Gender equality is about giving both genders the same opportunities, training, encouragement. It's even about making the same comments (nobody insinuates that an all-male crew will smell like stinky socks or unwashed balls, or that the flight will somehow be in jeopardy because of competition or hormones)
Politics › Re: Buhari Dancing With A Lady Without Shoes (Throwback Photo) by nextstep(m): 12:28pm On Dec 18, 2017
So you see everybody dancing without shoes on a wooden floor someplace in Asia... instead of realizing it's a custom to take off shoes in order to avoid scuffing and keep it clean (and in some cases, for religious purposes) it's seen as some other type of commentary on PMB. Wha?

HtwoOw:
Gas cylinder ignited by phone?

It must be village people
You're given a perfectly valid scientific sequence of events, and off you go dragging in the spiritual.

For the same reason we're advised not to get in/out of the car while pumping gas, or smoke cigarettes at the pump, etc..

In dryer climates, you can generate static electricity by motion (cloth rubbing on body), which is then discharged upon contact with a metal object, like a car or pump. The discharge causes a spark which can ignite the fumes of gas or petrol. She might have accidentally caused some static discharge (though I don't know what the phone had to do with it). It doesn't happen too often, but as you can see, it does happen.

It's unfortunate it happened (RIP to her), and in saner countries, there'd be an investigation into the leakage.

This makes no sense... it would actually benefit them more because they can simply drive a harder bargain for a bigger share of oil revenue with a new, smaller country that needs to accumulate foreign exchange and build infrastructure. New capital, new currency, new embassies, new army, new power stations, new everything... who will benefit from building, funding and loaning these? The Brits and Chinese for sure...

This is getting too much and we are losing valuable Human Resources to needless and avoidable accidents.

I just tire for this Nigeria! God help your people ooo
All that needs to happen is for drivers to get some sleep, leave on time, slow down. There are posted speed limits, and road conditions should inform how fast you drive. No need bringing FRSC or God into a matter that is easily resolved.

Because the leadership of the East still keeps talking marginalization when they should be united, making political allies in the Federal Gov't, harnessing the immense wealth of the industrialists, and taking matters into their own hands. The other elites are off in the SouthWest and abroad, developing those places.

Ah ah... must you have children so early in a marriage? Why not spend 2-3 years enjoying married life before adding the headaches of young children in the mix? Because once you do, it's non-stop mayhem for at least 18 years between child #1 and child #4 where you and your wife will hardly have time for each other. I should know, I have 4.

Rochas will NEVER patronize INNOSON.

He is only bringing this lie to cool people down about his Keke ban.

people should not fall for the lie.
INNOSON can also make KEKE if they truly want to patronize the company.
Too true... after all Innoson can also make kekes. They are very portable and can go places buses and cars can't. Plus the fare is cheaper.
Is Imo going to fix all the roads so that they are passable after rains? Because governor can navigate around in his SUV without issue, he should not forget that those small small tires and low clearance on these buses can't achieve what his SUV can.

You are a mad man. You are a raving mad for spewing these trash. Under no condition is a man or woman allowed to abuse his or her spouse like this. You and that demonic woman deserve to rot in jail.
See how quickly you rose to anger? Why? I was not condoning her behaviour nor supporting her (which I thought was clear in my post), but there's a lot of things that cause somebody to lash out, and what we need is more introspection rather than condemnation.

There's been a rise of cases (or at least reporting) of spousal abuse and murder... the question is why is this rising in society, because if all we do is punish without understanding, we won't be able to prevent it.

Christianity Etc › Re: Can Christian Couple Have Sex After Traditional Marriage Ceremony? by nextstep(m): 8:42pm On Dec 07, 2017
White/church wedding is oyinbo traditional ceremony
What we call traditional wedding is African traditional ceremony.

They are both traditional to their places of origin, and so just as valid. So far as the couple and witnesses accept the validity of the wedding, and the couples are sincere in there hearts, I don't see anywhere in the Bible where it says you have to have a wedding in a "church", officiated by a priest, before it's valid in the eyes of God.

You just need an officiant and witnesses. The couple's patriarchy (or matriarchy in Ghana) is the officiant in African traditional ceremonies, both sides agree to the marriage, bless it, bind it.

Don't let the traditions of Europeans confuse you.

Crime › Re: 'I Only Scam Whites' - Scammer Lets Go Of His Victim Because He's A Nigerian by nextstep(m): 12:19pm On Dec 07, 2017
The target is lucky.

There are trusted platforms for selling online: Amazon, eBay, craigslist, olx.
Verify money has hit your account first before sending item. Simple. If it turns out to be fraud, hit that complaint button.
Was she trying to avoid paying eBay fees? Which is technically a scam as she's listed the item there, but didn't want to conclude the sale there.

I'd say the target was trying to walk herself into a scam by trying her own Naija wururu to save a few bucks on fees.

I'm not condoning her behaviour, but instead of blaming her for her outburst, why aren't we asking what kind of pressure she must have been enduring for years? The years of possible verbal and physical abuse that she keeps to herself. Women silently endure a lot, and I've seen many men take advantage of their position as provider, not knowing that they are the ones digging their own graves, one insult at a time.

That's why authors hire editors, spell checkers, and other misc. staff. That's so easy even computers can autocorrect. If I'm lucky I will avoid adulterated fuel.

Oil producer indeed. I swear if government was in charge of making air we would have all suffocated to death. Even water they can't provide regularly. Shame
