CloudResident:Abi oh! ![]() "Storms", "stuns", "shuts down", "melts"... all these hyperbole with verbs. Then you click on link to find something totally underwhelming. How about this: "Escaped asylum patient wanders into Lagos wedding" |
Themandator:Isn't that how we get buildings all over Lagos or Abuja that get razed once in a while? Somebody give permission, money is exchanged, yet gov't can raze a building that's been there for over 10 years. |
Ladies, that's why you make sure to always carry some diaper wipes on you (fresh linen or some other mild scent). After the biz, enter bathroom and splash that place, then wipe, before returning to your main guy. I know most of you know, but just wanted to also educate the aspiring ones among you ![]() |
Send me her 080 so I can confirm what you're saying about that cocaine. Only after can I give you advise ![]() But seriously, that thing about "my family won't allow me to marry so so so men..." is just an excuse. She's holding out for a bigger fish. You don't know him, but trust me, there's somebody out there she's waiting to marry. But also, you say she bugs you for money (and you don't give her much)... does that mean she feels you can't take care of her needs, if she was to marry? Don't go impregnating her anyhow oh... you'll soon discover that, her with child and you with your new responsibilities, your life will change dramatically and you won't enjoy what you're enjoying now as much as you think. |
9jakohai:To adopt Finland is also to pay well, equip schools (chalk, boards, computers, library, books, infirmary, light and AC, provide quality textbooks, etc), train teachers, and most importantly, maintain the standard and make sure funding is not subject to the whims of the present governor. It's hard to see how this can happen if they can't even pay teachers on time. There's no need to jump to copying some arbitrary country's standards... just focus of continuous self-improvement of what you have now. |
Desyner:Wait, isn't market opportunity directly related to population? As in if you have 170million individuals, isn't that a larger opportunity than 15million? I'm sure there's some truth to easy oil money being shared, but I doubt the lady who spend 12 hours selling foodstuffs or working in a pharmacy will agree that she's getting access to easy oil money. Yet she wants toothpaste (as an example). How do you explain the money that 50 million households use to buy toothpaste? |
mekyno777:We've done that approach too... but there is something about seeing the original factory in person, so they can learn about how its organized, how things should function, and enable them to dream bigger. They can also make contacts on their own with other suppliers for the future |
Very good. You'll notice though, dear Gov, that there is constant light in that factory. The workers don't have to hustle to buy petrol, or water to run their business. They can get forex easily, never have to sweat about how they're going to get material, and are guaranteed good transport networks. The currency doesn't fluctuate so much, so they have a good sense of how much to charge, based on their cost. I've seen millions of dollars of equipment in government-funded agencies/factories/initiatives rotting and rusting away because the other parts of the puzzle were not put together first. |
sarrki:Er... I don't think any of us has a family where everybody gets along 100% and there are no issues. Should that affect our job prospects? |
thesicilian:But at least it will exist and will be serviceable for the people who want it. The fake shoe will feed its maker and their family, and also encourage others to go into manufacturing. Eventually real, strong shoe brands will grow from these seeds. Already, people are saying that Aba-made shoe lasts longer. Ask the Japanese if they remember when their own products were called fakes. (early 1950s to mid 1970s) This is a wonderful thing that Abia State is doing... make una no loss for China you hear? |
BabaAgba79:Thankfully she's abroad, not here where her talents would be frustrated. Her future contributions to engineering in the West, is what we'll be buying and using as innovations in 15-25 years. University professors (the real ones, not the many charlatans that infest our universities) have proffered many solutions over the years... it's just that our government - and our society at large - ignores and frustrates them. I've read quite a few papers from Nigerian universities on many topics ranging from solar insolation, cassava yields, metallurgy, herbal medicine and I'm really impressed - and saddened that our country is just wasting all its talented people. |
Na wah oh... bleaching is the best business... maybe I should start making bleaching cream... See all the paw paws in the photos |
Hah hah hah. Welcome back to Naija, where government promises to pay are seldom fulfilled. ![]() We have pensioners and teachers being owed arrears, and here you are demanding transport. Did you pay for that flight? Abeg |
Hah hah hah. Welcome back to Naija, where government promises to pay are seldom fulfilled. ![]() |
kagari:Who wan live there? I don't even know if anybody is going to even want to buy that land. Gov't should just let it grow grass and serve as a reminder that crime does not pay. |
jazinogold: So that they will a). confiscate the phone b). accuse him of stealing it, and c). demand bail My resolution this year, like many others, is to avoid encounters with police. |
Doesn't look like Naija to me... Ghana or Benin...? |
phineas:"Because I wasn't licensed to practice medicine last year while I was completing my studies. Now I'm fully qualified, and also have years of experience in medicine and in public policy. I also observed things during my stint in the food service industry that will inform how I can help improve health and sanitation awareness in that sector". How do you like that? I try shay? ![]() But I agree with your post on keeping a low profile... |
abdeiz:He isn't licensed yet, so he can't work as a doctor. He can do other kinds of jobs that don't require a license until he completes his further study, applies to practice, and is approved. |
chai no chill. But people don't start ruining what has so far been a wonderful relationship between two young people. I pray they last. You know, any of the places she's used her card is suspect: thieves have skimmers that can read your card installed at gas stations, and at restaurants and shops, there are staff that have been known to steal your card information and either go shopping with it or selling it to other criminals. Don't forget also the data breaches at multiple places including retail chains (Target, Brooks Brothers), hotels (Intercontinental Hotels Group), and even the credit score company Equifax. The number of people hit by fraud has been relatively high these past few years and it was only a matter of time. The card is still physically with her BTW, just cancelled. One should have two cards when traveling abroad so one's not stranded But please, lay off the Mr. Eazi jokes because that's how social media can ruin relationship. |
chronique:Who background check epp? How many times have people been dating for years, then you discover that your partner has a double life and that the person you though you knew is a total stranger? For the most part unfortunately, many girls (and guys) are so shady, it makes no difference if you've been dating for 1 week or 1 year. After dating around, I'm sure they both realized that "taking time to know each other" is just another way of saying "procrastination". But if they are committed to each other and serious, then there's no reason why the marriage can't work. I doubt there's any significant correlation between length of courtship and marriage lasting. |
I wish a). they lie with convincing numbers... always quoting in the millions what is really in the hundreds. b). we need to bring down the cost of food... that will also help with reducing forex (e.g. if yam is cheaper than imported rice), people will opt for yam. Why export a staple when we don't have enough to drive down price? |
ouzo1:Car, or sapiens? Since he's from East, I'm inclined to say the former, unlike some people from a certain state where the mining of calcium carbonate prevails ![]() *Sorry... but I could not resist making this joke |
olihilistic:Your mouth... ![]() |
People can notice... haba. How many Instagram accounts are people tracking on an hourly basis to see what's new? Who has time for all that? Unless that's your full-time job and you're getting paid to do so. Otherwise, get off people's lives on Instagram and live your own. ![]() |
As it pleases them... at least he has a conveyance. But, OP, why are the bride and groom in the movie, different from the picture posing with groomsmen? |
Eating carnivores from the bush now eh? Carry on... |
lifenajeje:And that 5k will see you selling 1000 bags of chips a day? I know you can start with 5k, but OP wanted to say that 13k could see you making 80k/day in revenue, which is just not feasible. 1 plantain can barely fill 2 bags (the chips are dehydrated and so become small). You know how much a bunch of plantains are? How about 500 plantains per day? And the oil to fry so many? And the gas? (even firewood dey cost). Plus the cost of the nylon, the space to fry and dehydrate so many chips. I threw out 1.3m (as a joke on 13k), but to produce that volume, you'd probably need something close. |
Revenue is one thing... profit is another. I don't think you can start making 80k revenues from 13k investment. People in the house with experience, what do you say? Me sef, I've been wondering if I should get into the business, considering there's so many of it on the market today, from the packaged ones, to the ones put in plain nylon. What would be my differentiating factor? Better packaging/preservation? First you need to get a location... let's assume you already have the land or it's your house. Then you have to buy plantains, lots. Then you need several fryers (1000 bags cannot be fried in one night), and several large gas tanks. You need lots of oil, salt/pepper You need the packages (I'm assuming you're going to buy the bags and print your logo) You'll need labour, at least 3 for peeling and cutting, and 1 per fryer, and several baggers Then if you were really lucky, you'll offload 1000 of these every day. I think the money involved is more like 1.3 mil, not 13k |
RIP to him. Imagine! We never know when our last day will be. We are indeed grateful when we make it back home alive at the end of the day. |
I'm going to download this picture for ... uh ... archival purposes... ![]() But you know what caught my eye? The beautiful beach property... if I could manage to build something like that for rent/hotel I'd be very happy. |
You guys should be using your organization to help build schools and fund cottage-scale entrepreneurs in Igboland... instead of all this noisemaking. You should be encouraging young boys and women to go into politics and civil service so they will have your interests in mind when they reach the upper reaches of politics. |
