Oviebright:Please let those same sponsors pool money together and you can start business here. At this stage, use the skills you learned in school + NYSC, solve a need, and get paid for it. Those who are able to travel abroad anyhow made it in business here in Nigeria. Those abroad can barely afford to visit once every couple years. |
Her nick is Gbemi Spaghetti... as in "Gbemi ka lo je spaghetti"... no be person wey like food be dat? ![]() Good way to find a connection. Far better than those girls with replies like "OK, hrm, I'm fine". |
Nah to dey spray dollar dirhams be dat. ![]() Foreigna2:Thank you. But will they use him to set example? For where? Just to harass those without long leg. |
Because women want to chop (my generosity) before saying "I do" ![]() I'd like to see a woman say "I do" to a man who hasn't spent a naira on tfare, outings, urgent 2k, hair, etc. on her. |
Let the inventors of Islam remove these from their stores in Saudi and Dubai first...

Upon all the rain... Powerbank failure or deliberate arson? |
kmcutez:And this picture proves the point - religion of peace has its chief whip beating up people he doesn't agree with. In fact, I hear tell he will come with horesmen and kill a bunch of poeple, then toss the others into a fiery pit - just because they don't worship him. The followers are also the first to say "Holy Ghost fire", and "thunder fire you" ![]()

Mikecold:Issokay, they are all laughing all the way to the bank with their trash. ![]() And you believe that there's anything in that cup when he's doing sinzu? ![]() |
udoji2021:OP, thank you so much for your contribution... that other thread was something else. As for me, I would also like to advise young men that the era of marriage and having children is over, at least for the next few decades. All you have in your future is endless hard work, and for what? So you can spend all your days working and being stressed out, then die early, leaving your wife and children to enjoy what you killed yourself for? This country is not a good place to bring children into anymore. Being married is another kind of punishment in this era. |
drizslim: angelusbrut:And Isaac's children, with Christianity, that enslaved entire continients, colonized, genocided the native inhabitants of Americas, fought two world wars, dropped 2 atomic bombs on civilians, ravaged entire countries with agent orange, and is still exploiting 1/2 the world is a religion of what exactly? |
illicit:Verily I say unto you... ye speaketh the utmost truth. ![]() If Christ comes and starts paying for my housing and feeding, and giving me small allowance, then He can be head of household. Until then, please shift. |
It is well, they should also add: "if you have struggled so hard to find a job, have as many children as you can, for one of them will bring good luck". ![]() Some people sef. |
I wish agitators the best, but the UN security council (which is the only body that matters) is made of countries that currently benefit from the Nigerian experiment. Asking them for help is like asking a lion to save your goat. Wasted effort. The general assembly is a waste of time... can't do anything if Security Council members veto, and they have a lot of ways to twist the arms of the other countries. |
Abeg, let people of Christ go and rest abeg. The entire world does not revolve around the tenets of Christianity. Only 30% of the world is Christian (and much less if you consider those who are actually religious). We have China who India who have done marvelously without any of this. Please limit your comments to your believers, and let others live in peace, whether they be atheists, humanists, feminists, capitalists. Haba, anything you don't agree with is "demonic" or "cursed". This blind, narcissistic, self-righteousness is some kind of psychiatric malaise. ![]() |
This is beautiful. I pray and hope that within 50 years, all our children would have thrown off these imported religions. Vireani79:What is religion? Is it not part of culture? Just because oyinbo (either from England or from Saudi) have convinced you with guns and swords to adopt their religion, does not mean theirs is more valid than yours. All religions do pretty much the same thing: there's a belief in a supreme being (Yaweh, Olorun, Chukwu); and belief in and prayer offered to intercessors/manifestations (Jesus, Ifa, Ala). What's the difference between rosaries and ifa beads? How about the River Jordan vs Osun River? |
Congrats my dear... just be wary of village people and ignore nairaland "clitocurrency crew " ![]() |
DoggoneDogg:If anybody gives #5, appreciate the gift and move on. Nobody owes you a damn thing. Even if you think "it belittles you"... you're the only person who can make you feel bad. I've heard people complain about being given 1k, 10k, or even 100k... they will still complain "is this all I'm worth?", or "what can common 100k do for me?" It's not the amount, it's the attitude. |
GardenOfGod:You're right sha... only time will tell if he will deliver, or is just another wolf in sheep's clothing ![]() |
GardenOfGod:I hear what you're saying, but the difference between Buhari and Maduka, is that Maduka has a long list of accomplishments that show he is technically competent, can run a large successful business, has charitable contributions and building, and has the connections to bring investments. We could still be wrong about Maduka, but it won't be because of an "aura" or "body language". This man is what we asked for: accomplished, intelligent person who has (already) done things for his people. I'm from across the Niger, but I have nothing but good things to say about Maduka. I'm surprised he's still in the running, despite all the shenanigans of politics, but I'm waiting to be pleasantly surprised. |

Patriotic9ja:There's something about the smoke that adds a special taste to food cooked with firewood. That's why even in the US, the best BBQs always use words like "slow cooked over charcoal or wood". I don't think we've ever seen: "slow grilled in a gas oven". Same thing with pizza: wood fired versions are seen as more desirable and delicious. They even sell "smoke flavour" as an additive and that's what you'll see as an ingredient in many "nostalgic" packaged food. Party rice, roasted yam, roasted corn, suya, moin moin sef... all taste better when cooked with wood in my opinion. That said, gas is the superior choice for convenience, health hazards, clean pots and surfaces, not to mention the environment. |
Well, in whose name is the home? If in his father's name, then it belongs to the deceased's spouse, the mother. This is regardless of where the money came from. |
Serious countries are signing deals for improving trade, manufacturing, etc, or gearing their societies for robotics, renewables, and AI. Nigeria is busy improving pilgrimage destinations and will now enrich Jordan (who will benefit from all the tourism business from this deal). Well done, eh, our esteemed leaders. |
Omihanifa:Abi now? "JMK just gifted herself a car", "JMK just became landlady in Lekki" Far better than saying "my Lord, may I" all day, after taking bus from Surulere to Yaba daily ![]() |
Penguin2: DOTian:So IPOB is now a government that can tell private citizens what they can and cannot do bah? And somehow, breaking my wares is going to make me want to identify with your cause? I'm complaining about hardship and bad governance, and you - the supposed alternative - is doing exactly the same thing. I'm generally pro-Biafra, but this is not how you win hearts. Normally "sit-at-home" should be a show of solidarity, but now it's being done only out of fear. This shows very simply that there's NO difference between thugs of NG, vs thugs of Biafra. IPOB is supposed to demonstrate that they will treat citizens with courtesy? Why not just joke with the person and encourage them to sit at home next time, as we're struggling for a better tomorrow? That's what people will remember when it's time for a referendum. Why should I bother supporting Biafra/IPOB if they will treat me the same way as the rogues in Nigeria? |
Get a Toyota (any model) if you don't want to help your mechanic build a house. ![]() Benz is not a wise choice for a first car, or at all really, until you know what it takes to maintain a car. Typically a car's annual running cost is about 10% of its cost - insurance, servicing/tuning, fuel, oil, and repairs. You get 150k to drop on a car annually? Benz skin is like thin aluminium, any small thing, it has a scratch that goes beyond the protective coating. But which kind Benz can you get for 1.3milla? It might be the worst financial mistake you make, my guy. |
Pregnancy is usually calculated from the first day of the woman's last period, not the date of conception or sex, which can occur anytime before the next period. Only way to answer this question is do paternity test - which can be done even while pregnant. |
Congrats my brother... you have a large heart, and your bravery has been rewarded. Some men would have abandoned a chance at true love in search of "fruit of the womb". Before I would have said: "and here's to plenty more", but now I'll just say, "1 or 2 is ok, country hard" ![]() |
Na wah oh... and these are the youths I used to say would be better leaders? I've lost hope in all generations, except maybe a few honest individuals here and there, but as a country we're doomed. But where did the reporter of the original article get N1m from? The total funds she admitted to was 290k. And for my "inside private part" crew, hian! She just tucked the money into her panties. |
austinvsb:Wawoo... this is brilliantly insightful. Our southern reps na real mumu. |
treatise:Let him excel where he likes. We're all beginning to realize that university education is not a guaranteed avenue to success in life. Especially in fields like software engineering (where he seems to be headed). Medicine and law are harder to get in the door without a degree and certification, but SW is all about latent talent. My advice would be to save and invest the money you would have used for uni. You have to be disciplined enough to put this money aside please. When he's old enough and has an idea for a company, you can give him these savings as seed money. Or like the poster below - use the money to send him abroad and unlock his talents. I - a computer engineer - have a son, 13, who is also not good at - nor interested in - math. Rather than forcing him, we're allowing him to pursue his talents which is drawing and animation. I'm not 100% convinced he will go to University, and I can't say I'm bothered by that. We assist and encourage him to finish secondary school, and as long as he gets above 75%, I'm satisfied. We are saving and investing on his behalf now, and he is currently being paid a small sum to illustrate a children's book. These experiences will be far more useful when he wants to enter the job market (or start his own firm) at 18, than as a recent-school grad with no experience at 24. Too many of us waste the most productive time of our lives regurgitating books rather than creating. |
DCatt:But your terms of employment include following the rules of your employer - which are subject to change. All staff were warned, yet these went and flouted said rules. If employees feel wrongly terminated, they can take that to court, where a jury will determine if the company was right or not. |
