pope191: Pls the new indrive app keep hanging. Am I the only one going thro this? And if there’s any solution. Are you using a Samsung? You can update the system UI in the settings. I love the new indrive update. Riders can't edit n put nonsense price like before. if you can't afford air-conditioned taxis as a rider, there are alternatives ( Keke, okada, Danfo, Sienna). Pick the one that suits your budget. I think Indrive realised they have been dulling themselves all this while, they realised that Bolt does not give a flying Bleep about fares, once demand is up, 2.5 surge steps in, if the heat is too much, alternatives ( keke,Danfo,Sienna) are available... |

Portable worked hard till he was lucky to get connections and more public exposure, translating his hardwork to gain.Portable is also a community philanthrophist despite not earning as much as other successful artistes.Do you know how many old people have blessed him for his philanthropy in the community? The bolded is true. You are right on this. Portable came to one hotel around Abule egba, and people in their hundreds thronged him. He was sharing different stuffs. Giving people food brings you a special kind of grace, especially those who need it,almost akin to building good karma points. |

yad2eidi: cars dealers are the worst set of people. most of them have cars they bought when dollar was 500 per dollar , but they will still sell the car for the present rate of dollar. ogun kee all of una It doesn't work that way, they have to maintain value of the trading capital. If dollar moves from 500 to 1300, if they then sell @ 500 to a dollar, they won't be able to buy the same item they just sold. |

TheModerator: Interesting but I have to laugh at the bolded. The idea of a fair playing ground is a myth. As a migrant, your access to many things are limited. Go there with a visitor's visa, try to work with it and see if you will have access to anything, not even a place to rent even if you have the money. Do you know how many Nigerians that are in shelters and makeshift houses in Canada? Need I mention those in basements? Where's the fair ground that you are talking about? They are barely living over there and are struggling to survive, take my word for it. Only those with PR and specialized skills live an average normal life. Same with UK. Don't even mention US lol.
As per doing business in Nigeria, it may seem hard but it all depends on the line of business you choose to go into. There are many businesses one can do here and get by. Bolt isn't even one of it. Why waste so much to get visa, travel out to live a mediocre life when you can invest the money in Nigeria and increase your worth within a couple of years? It doesn't make sense. Where are you running to when your country is not at war? You are not being fair and objective with your views. Let's take the points individually. Visa Why will they offer you work with a visitors visa..? As a visitor, you don't need to work because in your application, the visitor should have funds to take care of his/her expenses. A family man will feed his own household first before handing goodies to outsiders. That's what developed climes do in terms of immigrants. You can't work if you have not been profiled to contribute (pay tax) to the system . The same thing happened when US tech companies downsized last year, those on H2B Visa (immigrants) were given a 2 months notice. Get another job ( so that you can pay tax and contribute to the system) or leave United states. I know 2 guys personally who are in the States and they are doing fine and they are not tech guys. Fairness. Tope Awotona is worth over 1 billion dollars.. He is 42 years old.., very young by Nigerian standards. He is the richest Nigerian-American living in the US. He was born and bred in Lagos. He was a teenager in Lagos, he left as an immigrant to the United States. Today, the fair system has made him what he is today. I doubt it ,if he would become a Dollar billionaire if he remained in Lagos.(how many dollar billionaires are in Lagos presently ), there are thousands of such individuals who left Nigeria as immigrants and the system has created a fair playing ground for them to become people of value. Please don't discount United States or those who have plans to go there. Wages in UK have always been low. Right from the 90s .. but even if you consider purchasing parity. A minimum wage worker overthere in the UK still fares better than the same minimum wage worker here. This is not about having millions.. Those in makeshift houses /basements don't tell you the full story as regards their finances. This is a public forum, let's not cast the format. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by northbird: 9:26am On Feb 10, 2024 |
TheModerator: Those billionaires, they made their money in Nigeria not through japa. So they can afford to send their kids out there to school. Their children accomodation and all other expenses are well funded from home. It's not the same with a poor man that will sell everything he has to travel out, especially those that get visa through school route with no sponsor, some go with their wife/husband and children (Suffering amplified).
If you don't have a special type of skill or a programme that gives you a permanent stay, forget it. Na another type of suffering you go meet for there. It's only a PR that is worth it. Anything other than that, you are better off doing Bolt or any other business in Nigeria and working your way up.
Like I said before, collectively, Nigeria failed us but it doesn't mean that people cannot rise up on individual basis to better themselves at home.. That's not true.. The western world gives you a fair playing ground than your home country especially if you have some level of education before leaving Nigeria. The housing scenario in Canada is from the aftermaths of money laundering.. foreigners buy real estate in Canada with ill gotten wealth. This forces the prices upwards ditto for rentals. Government of Canada has placed restrictions on foreigners buying property recently. Driving Bolt shoud be a stop-gap..... It's tough doing business in Nigeria. Govt policies are not consistent.. look at the Agric play in Niger, govt is saying no trucks are allowed to buy in bulk anymore, though they might have a point in protecting the masses, but what about the investor (farmer ) who can only make profits by selling in Bulk ( most agric produce are perishable)... are they encouraging or discouraging production.? |

That's why investors are opting out of this racket. The uncertainties are too much. You can sink millions in this business,if you are not ontop of your game, to recoup the initial investment, will look so herculean. I have never taken a trip to Ikorodu, or those godforsaken suspension shifting areas. More reason why I stick to Indrive. I would rather just earn little and the car is in top shape than earn so much and still have to share a fat slice of my earnings with mechanic and the spare parts dealers. Though you can't avoid maintenance costs. But by avoiding some areas in Lagos, you can keep your maintenance costs low especially from a standpoint of suspension. Modified: there are some areas around that ilaje side of Bariga, swampy and gully filled roads within a popular axis.. .. I was shocked to see such roads.. |

@ omoapena.. Congratulations.
You need to apologise to Dj Damian. Seriously.. Where I come from , there's a saying translated " it's not all clothes that we spread in the Sun"
Haha, posting personal chats, is not too good, it's like a breach of confidence.
Thank God for everything that happened. If the deal did not go as you planned, be rest assured, something good will come your way. You can see from your testimonies here, things already happening your way.
You also have a reliable principal with a good aura(dj Damian), trust me as Pearl opined, a lot of diabolic principals are out there.. you are very lucky.
Be grateful , I don't expect you to have any altercations with DJ damian, even if there are issues, you should try and be diplomatic in your relations with him, not by brazenly engaging him in a war of words.
In one of our groups, a guy was ready to drop 500k as deposit for HP,he couldn't find the right spec of car and a principal willing to bet on him
That a business did not happen today between both of you, doesn't mean, another wont happen again. Mend your relationship with Djdamian. Relationships are everything. |

Djdamian: Dear all,
Sequel to my decision on taking this matter to the Nigerian justice system.
I have decided not to proceed further, not because its not an easy win or I don't have probable cause it because I am not the kind of person that will take away what someone has worked hard for.
The truth is I knew the vehicle has been with his expatriate partners all along,i knew he had breach on one of the most important aspect of our contract yet i refused to act despite me having all the evidence since October last year.
Omoapena, I have never been against you neither have i been against your progress. There's this myth I have been told all my life (I don't know if it's true or not cos I really don't believe in it but from evidence with people around me,i think its making sense) that anyone that comes in contact with me,the person life changes for good. There is a Yoruba adage for it but I can't remember.
When I was a kid,my landlord wife will call me from our house early in the morning to receive money from her first customer according to her she says I bring luck to her business.
Omoapena you say I am a trouble maker,I make people miserable yet look at your life before you met me and look at it now,are they not big difference?
I will always wish you the best, nothing in this world will change who I am. I am a business man, a father, a husband, a friend and a man who loves peace.
I wish you well.
When I find the documents, I will send it over to you. You can also keep the license plate till it expires. God bless you for this. God has used you to lift him up. Please, pardon all insults. |

concho: I recently came to Your state (Lagos) from Kano for a three months training. I’m physically busy twice a week here and I have the rest of the days for anything else I want to do
I went to a market here in Mainland to buy egusi(melon) , beans and other food stuffs , only for me to figure out that the prices are extremely high .
I was disappointed with everything I bought after comparing them with what I used to buy in Kano town , not even the villages .
I think I should create a side hustle around this niche and also use the avenue to subsidize the price as much as I can .
I have the money for these venture as my only concern right now is the market to explore and the means of selling out cheaply as I’m new here in Lagos.
What’s your thought please Ditch the idea. 3 reasons 1. You don't have a structure for distribution and storage. 2. Transport costs incurred are high . 3. Market unions will frustrate your efforts |

The only advantage Bolt have over Indrive is turn around time in trips. Same question I have asked you to upload your total trips and not just income. Mind you VI to Berger on indrive now is above 7k during rush hours, but I don’t run it. You get! The emboldened is true. The only edge Bolt has over Indrive right now is that they have more riders.
