Sometime last year this same Governor's convoy was involved in a ghastly auto accident, his ADC died while he sustained injuries. Now this year, another accident same Governor's convoy different victim-Prof Iyayi . Now my question is, is this concincidence or some systemic recklessness of Governor Idris Wada's convoy?
How is it that the same leaders 'we' voted rigged into power have turned back to gradually kill us through their acts of ommission or commission. Most political appointees from the House of Assembly members to the Ministers, even Local Government chairmen have made themselves infamous by having humoungous terror dissipating convoys and entourage. Once they get into power, they isolate themselves from 'commoners' and instead of assuaging our pains, they inflict more of it. I have seen a Local Government chairman's convoy with over 15 cars, siren blaring, and gun wielding policemen. Isnt the LG chairman supposed to be a grassroot leader?

Reports have it that the British prime minister goes to work with minimal entourage, sometimes even joins the train. The Norwegian prime minister sometime ago in order to feel the pulse of the 'ordinary' citizen had to resort to taxi driving. Are our leaders more exposed than these 2 mentioned leaders? is our country more developed?

Well, this incident made news because an 'influential academic' was involved but many other 'non-influential' citizens have been killed from such official highhandedness and recklessness but they didnt make news.

RIP Prof Iyayi

^^Oh please shut that trap you call a mouth. You think because you claim to stay in Asokoro, others that live elsewhere are less humans than you. I can bet you are just squating with somebody. People that stay in Asokoro dont denigrate others.

@ Op, Abuja is not as difficult as most people make it seem. In places like Dutse, Bwari you can get self contained apartments (with or without water) with circa 200k per annum. Transportation might eat deep into your pocket but once you get familiar with the environment you will know the best routes to take.
If deep within you you are convinced and with God on your side, please come the sky is your limit. Its a beautiful place to be the peace of mind is unrivalled in this country.

I give thumbs up to those that live in Lagos!!!

TravelRe: Aero Airline Keeps Passengers Stranded In Abuja by Nosyke(m): 6:09am On Nov 10, 2013
*dhtml:
On that same friday, aerocontractors flight from calabar to lagos was delayed by 4hrs+ flight was scheduled to leave 12:10 and left around 4:30 or 5pm sef. I was on that flight, it was not funny at all
Well, you might be lucky it won't happen to you. My own experience is as narrated below;
I booked for an Aero Saturday 9th, 10:10am flight from Owerri to Abuja, on Friday evening I got a message as follows:
Dear Esteemed Customer, This is to inform you that our flight AJ347 from Owerri to Abuja on the 9th of November, 2013 has been rescheduled to 12:10HRS due to operational reasons. However, if you are already booked on the 12:10HRS please disregard. Check in starts two hours before and closes forty minutes before departure. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. For enquiries, please call: 01-6284140 or email tickethelpdesk@acn.aero

Initially, I took it as nothing, as I had some more time to spend with my family. When I eventually got to the airport, we were told our plane was still in Lagos and this was few mins before 12:10. Eventually, our plane got to Owerri from Lagos around 12:30 and we boarded by 12:55. So altogether we about 3 hours delay, The pilot later apologised and said that the delay was due to an NCAA inspection in Lagos but even at that, our landing in Abuja wasn't exactly funny, I am not sure why, but the plane was seriously shaking (passengers were all complaining).
TravelPassengers Aboard Aero Flight Abandoned For Hours On Tarmac In Abuja by Nosyke(op): 6:07pm On Nov 09, 2013
Passengers aboard an Aero Contractor Boeing 737 plane scheduled for a trip to from Abuja to Lagos were left stranded inside the aircraft for several hours, with airline officials nowhere in sight to offer any explanation, SaharaReporters has learnt from a source who was one of the abandoned passengers.

“It was as if the Aero Contractors turned us into prisoners of war,” said the passenger, adding that many passengers were terrified as the plane sat on the tarmac of Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja for several hours, with passengers locked up inside.

Our source disclosed that Flight AJ132 from Abuja to Lagos was supposed to take off at 8 p.m., but was delayed until midnight. Then, once passengers boarded, they were left inside the aircraft until 3 a.m. on Saturday. He added that the pilots and the crew left the aircraft with the passengers without giving any explanation. A source at the airline said it was a case of “Aircraft On Ground”, a term used to depict seriousness of engine trouble that causes an aircraft to be grounded.

“I think this kind of thing can only happen in Nigeria where customers are treated by an airline as if they were just rats trapped inside a plane, and the pilots and crew members disappear just like that.”

SaharaReporters could not reach a line for Aero Contractors to obtain an official response to the incident. Several passengers booked on other Aero’s flights suffered similar delays at airports around Nigeria

You did wonderfully well and the Good Lord will bless you beyond your expectation.

I am sure your mind is very much at ease now unlike the torment you would have gone through if your had 'eaten' the money. 780K might be a big deal but its not equal to the peace of mind you now enjoy knowing that you did the right thing, that you saved somebody from HBP. This world is a very small place, you can never tell where you will meet the owner of the money/bank manager in future.

With this feat, maybe there is still hope in Nigeria.

By the way where are those who said he should flex the money, hope you guys can hug the closest live transformer.

FamilyRe: Why Do People Use Burial Ceremonies To Show Affluence? by Nosyke(m): 2:10pm On Nov 05, 2013
I have always been of the opinion that Musilm way of burial is the best template to use. When most families cry at the death of their loved ones, it will surprise you to know that its isn't the loss per say that's making them cry but the anticipated expenses they will incur. Recently, I travelled to my village 11 months after my last visit only for my mum to inform me that one of our kinsmen was being buried. This man died around October last year and he was buried this November. I was shocked and asked my mum why they had to keep him this long , she replied that the family(widow and children who are just barely feeding) were trying to raise money for the burial. They had to sell virtually every land the man had in order to buy cows for the village people and other associated expenses (including mortuaary cost for 13 months).
This man was a palm wine taper and of course had no investments for the children except the inherited lands, which have just be sold to bury him. Now tell me after the burial and jamboree how will the family cope? School fees, feeding etc.

Why I had to narrate this long true life story is to further butress the fact that this culture should be abolished as it has no positive effect (especially in Igbo land (mind you I am Igbo too).

If somebody dies 2 things should happen.
1 Bury him like the muslims or
2. Cremate him.

Thanks
PoliticsRe: Dissident PDP Governors’ Jet Grounded In Abuja ! by Nosyke(m): 12:43pm On Nov 05, 2013
Christianos: This is one of the absurdities that we have come to accept as normal in Nigeria. I see no reason why elected Governors will shuttle across the country's airspace on selfish political campaigns, abandoning their primary responsibility/obligation to the poor masses who elected them. BTW, does anyone have an idea of what the job-description of a Nigerian Governor looks like?
God bless you for this observation. Infact take one bottle of your brand on my head.
In recent months, these governors are having one meeting or the other at different locations. Most nigerians have taken sides with or against them but nobody seems to care about the implications of their frequent out of station trips. The private jets they use, the hotel or guest houses, the ground transport, the security personnels attached to them. I am sure its the tax payer of their respective states that foot the bills. How does their political future affect the ordinary village woman in their states. These governors have left the reason why they were voted (or rigged) into power which is provision of basic infrastructure and leadership for their states and are busy gallavanting the whole country at public expense. Now when was the last time any of them commissioned projects in their states?

In saner climes one caan quickly say that their deputies hold the steering of the states machinery why their principals are busy gallavanting, but here in Nigeria, we all know that the deputies are glorified commissioners and as such can't do anything meaningful without recourse to their 'ogas at the top'. The result of this is that these states have been held hostage and governance put on hold.
Btw I am also very much interested in the job description of a governor too.

Am not in support of what the federal government is doing but for the sake of our students let them accept the offer that was given to them.unless they would be the one to loss at the end of the day.
The president has the power to re-open our university just like what OBJ did in is own regime .but that not the way forward.
The major reason why fg had remain adament is because of other union.if ASUU demand is met other unions would also rise and embark on an indefinite strike.and this is what fg is trying to aviod.

PoliticsRe: Abia Lifts Embargo On Employment by Nosyke(m): 9:48am On Nov 03, 2013
This man's cluelessness has been unprecedented in human history. A state that owes its workers several months salary, (Ask Abia poly staff, primary school teachers, Local government staff, nurses aand health workers) the roads in Aba are still a mess. From Osisioma to Ekeakpara isn't motorable, infact people pass through Geometrics road to get into the Ekeakpara side. Is it Ngwa road, is Faulks road through Ariaria (to mention just a few). Sam Mbakwe airport is still close and doesnt record heavy air traffic, the Omagwa airport is still very much around, these airports for now will be ok for Abia passengers, now tell me what justification does he have to even dream about an airport. Woe betide you, you are in Ariairia and it rains, you will understand what having daft governor means. These traders pay huge amount of money in levies, yet the market is so messed up.

I have said over and over again, that T.A Orji needs a brain transplant. He sacked non-indigenes to be able to meet the state's financial obligations, even the indigenes that were remaining, were they paid as at when due?

Airport ko, waterway ni, this is just another ponzi scheme to eternally mortgage the financial future of Abians.

Nairaland has taught me to be very objective while reading. It has also taught me that there is a whole lot of acrimony between different ethnic groups and that we the youths have also towed that line by analysing issues of national importance based on how they affect us(tribes). It has also taught me that given the same kind of circumstances our leaders have, that we the youths will most likely do worse
