Gee, that thread is just an extension of this one. Futile arguement.
Same posters et al. So the chic was helped with her assignment. Nice. So much for HALF BAKED graduates.
So, how about we help our students pass by giving them answers in the exam hall. That will be so cool cos everyone will pass and there will be NO failures. Right?
Hey, you'll probably get a NOBEL prize for your generousity.

Dude, I'm NOT against anyone learning. I wasn't born with my knowledge, I was helped. So it's only right to help others. Like the OP said, you are MISSING THE POINT of the thread. Read the thread carefully before you respond.
Whats with this talk about creating a language?

P.S: Just like I thought, you didn't provide a hyperlink to the page where you posted your code. How can we verify it?
ProgrammingRe: Please Read by NumberOne2(m): 9:40am On May 07, 2011
What makes me come to this forum all the time is because I admire they way people help by providing codes for others.
So how many codes have you given out? (pls provide links to the codes so we can verify. Anyone can claim they have provided codes for others).
I hope you aren't one of 'em Leechers we are talking about.

I saw the phone Number generator app. Its cool. Since folks want to copy without giving the author any credit at all, my summary about the Nigerian market is:

1) You either develop for sale (register your product, copyright and all with a good lawyer at hand in case of infringement plus secure the product to the best of your ability) and get the FULL credit for it, or

2) Develop FREE and see it as your contribution to humanity. In this case, don't even expect a thank you. Though some folks may commend you. Not everyone in a butt-hole.

Open source is good when most folks are are contributing. When you have less folks contributing and more folks copying, it kills open source. Unfortunately, MOST Nigerian developers are leechers so it can't work here. Guess its the harsh economy. Its just like seeders and leechers in torrent file downloading. When the leechers are more, download is slow. When seeders are more, download is fast.

Thanks man. I haven't really had time to add more apps to the list. Have a few in my head. Judging from the phone categories that have used my apps, I can say Nokia is by far the most popular in this country. I was surprised by the number of BB downloads. Not as strong as Nokia but quite impressive and encouraging. BB is expanding pretty fast here.

Nice idea. However, this idea is based on our telecoms companies. Can they be trusted? As an IT person, First the network can hijack your SMS and send another on your behalf after editing the party you have chosen. Also, if I know your INEC code and phone number, I can vote (send an SMS) for you. Just like ATM. If I know your card number and pin, I can take your cash without your card. Nice try.

You don't have to sign your apps for it to run on a BB device. The signing is very important if your app wants to access certain sensitive API. E.g. IMEI number or if your app wants to access BES etc.
To test an app, you can simply upload it (jad and cod files) on a web server and configure the MIME type of the server and you're good to go.

Whatever happened to "teach a man to fish rather than give him fish"? I've had an experience once. A friend asked for a html code which when a button is clicked it leads to a website. I gave him the code. Guess what? He later asked me for a code that instead of onClick will go to the website, he wanted onClick to a file on his system. WTF? This is what the OP is saying we should avoid.

I didn't know BB rejected apps. I thought it was only Apple. Have you had any experience with the BB app world? I ask cos you said you aren't going to go through it. I intended pushing some apps through it.
ProgrammingRe: Mobile Phone Application Programming by NumberOne2(m): 11:27pm On Apr 21, 2011
The key used for the signing, were they from blackberry itself or verisign?

I'm asking cos if you sign an app with your own certificate, chances are the BB device will reject the app cos it doesn't recognize the certificate.

Who issues the certificate?

Lol. This is Comedy Central. Why do you think Buhari was crying. He knew it was over. I'm glad there was WIDE TV and radio coverage on this elections with enough observers both local and international. I wonder why there is NO hard evidence of the rigging. Allegations are easy, lets get some evidence. Remove sentiments and face facts, I have never seen such transparent elections in Nigeria.

Senate: PDP 55, ACN 14, CPC 6, ANPP 7 / House of Reps: PDP 87, ACN 33, CPC 31, ANPP 20

From the above figures, it was clear that the CPC wasn't as strong as some thought. The PDP realized that it was weakened and quickly aligned with Labour Party. The CPC and ACN destroyed any hope of alliance at the last minute. You have tried General Buhari, its time to rest.

No one is bigger than Nigeria. Talk to your supporters.
WebmastersRe: Nairaland - A Multimillion Dollar Company? by NumberOne2(m): 4:19pm On Apr 17, 2011
NL is probably most popular Nigerian site. Its more popular than most news paper sites. So why cant it make 1,000 dollars or more a day?

If one click is USD0.01 (which is the minimum) and 100,000 folks click on NL. Isn't that USD1,000? We all know that NL's traffic in a day is over 20 million to be modest.

If you are a blogger and you know your site traffic and revenue, then use the same formula and do the math for NL. Search google top 10 traffic channels for Nigeria and see if NL isn't number 1.

NL started at a time when most of us didn't know jack about the internet. Nice job Seun for the foresight. A true Nigerian entrepreneur.

Restart the phone. If it still continues, check if you have virus problems. If you have virus issues, get an anti virus or format the device.

@Afam, look at Nairaland. It hasn't changed since the day I registered. Though is earning the cash it was intended to do. Thats what you get for FREE. It depends on the POSTER. If he wants something that CANNOT be edited in future, fine, else I'll advice you get a GOOD developer to design one for you. Besides, even the so called FREE software can't be installed by everyone.
WebmastersRe: Creating Mobile Version Of A Site! by NumberOne2(m): 8:59am On Apr 11, 2011
View my site at www.greenspek.com. It automatically directs your to the PC (www.greenspek.com) page or MOBILE (www.m.greenspek.com/MOBILE.html) page depending on your device. It also redirects for Opera Mini browser. NL and most sites don't do that.

Like  yawa-ti-de said, thats what you need. 2 domains or 2 folders in your index domain. A script (php, asp, jsp or any other server side script) that detects the devices and redirects them to the respective pages. The script is about 20 lines of code and should be the index page. Also don't forget to to the DTD (Document Type Declaration), to tell the MOBILE device that it can read the page. I advice you use WAP 1.0. It isn't rocket science.
ProgrammingRe: Please Which Programming Language Does Nigerian Institutions Use ? by NumberOne2(m): 6:23pm On Apr 05, 2011
I don't think there is anything wrong in learning PASCAL, FORTRAN and the likes. I see it as an introduction to programming.

It is better to teach a student to THINK like a programmer rather than teaching the language. Once you can think like a programmer, you can learn any language on your own. Programming is NOT about the language, its about the LOGIC.
