Most of the thread has been compiled into an ebook availible here
Gee, you took a lot of pains to protect the documet. Well, this is what I meant. Check out http://www.greenspek.com/BLOGS2.html.

Other developers taking parts of it to publish like this. I think in the end, enlightenment Nigerian clients is the goal. Sure, credit should be given to you. I don't have a problem with that. However, if you aren't ok with this, I'll take it off.

This is a nice thread. However, so that it lives on, I suggest web developers here with their own personal or corporate sites should post relivant pieces of this thread on their sites. This will help spread the word and educate the average client that a good site cannot cost N5,000 amongst other things. With the permission of all contributors I am going to do that asap.

ProgrammingRe: Google Hacking For Information by NumberOne2(m): 1:34am On Jul 03, 2011
Dude, lets not confuse ourselves with english, lets leave that for the English folks. Hacking used to be good, now its not. Saying that its still good is just denial.
Before now phones were JUST for making/receiving calls. Now they do much more, browsing, multimedia etc. To insist that phones are JUST for calls will not be correct. It was then, not anymore.
Hacking was cool then, not anymore.
ProgrammingRe: Google Hacking For Information by NumberOne2(m): 2:14pm On Jul 02, 2011
If you really want to harness the full power of www.google.com to get accurate result in your search.
You need to learn Google hacking here is a free and tutorial on Google hacking visit www.blog.cogent-concept.com
Your writeup is really cool, but it isn't about hacking, its about programming.

Hacking Defined:
Hacking is unauthorized use of computer and network resources. (The term "hacker" originally meant a very gifted programmer. In recent years though, with easier access to multiple systems, it now has negative implications.)

Hacking is a felony in most other countries. When it is done by request and under a contract between an ethical hacker and an organization, it's OK. The key difference is that the ethical hacker has authorization to probe the target.

Dude, what you posted doesn't fall into either category. Your use of Google resources isn't unathorized. Comprehende?
Nice writeup though,
NYSCRe: Guys Posted To Boko Haram States On Nysc - Please Register Here For Network. by NumberOne2(m): 5:24pm On Jul 01, 2011
I agree that NYSC is not by force, however most aren't over aged, most are VERY young. Too young to be exposed to such insecurity. I advice those posted there to BOYCOTT the service. Protest at your schools peacefully, go to NANS, avoid camp. If there is low turnout in NYSC camps in such states, that will make news headlines. It begins with you. DO NOT GO, TELL A FRIEND.

Christianity EtcRe: Islamic Banking Will Do The Nation No Good -cleric by NumberOne2(m): 9:27am On Jul 01, 2011
Dude, Resorting to insults will NOT establish your point. How many none Muslims have been killed in Britain in religious clashes? How many in Nigeria? Get the message? Islamophobia is a global phenomenon, its NOT just restricted to Nigeria. I'm NOT against Islamic Banking, I live in Abuja and have muslim friends. Remove religious sentiments, Nigeria is NOT ready for this.
Christianity EtcRe: Islamic Banking Will Do The Nation No Good -cleric by NumberOne2(m): 2:53pm On Jun 29, 2011
when you read things like this it becomes obvious how ignorant an average cleric actually is, Britain is more secular and even anti religious in nature, yet this "cleric" failed to tell us why there are Islamic banks in the UK, hence how does Islamic bank make Nigeria a religious state, were we muslim consulted on the type of banking we are suppose to use? interest banking remains a sin in Islam, and this sin was imposed on us? were we consulted? this is a private enterprise for God's sake how does it make the country Islamic? Clerics like this simply make true - religion is the opium of the masses- because they keep covering the eyes of the masses with things that should not be their problems.
This foolish comparison of Nigeria to the UK is myopic. Nigeria is a country struggling with religious violence and you want to introduce something called "Islamic Banking"? Does the UK have such religious tension as Nigeria.
If they did, do you think their government will allow "Islamic Banking"? The biggest problem with Nigeria is that we like to COPY FOOLISHLY. Technology should be ADAPTED not ADOPTED. We copy both the good, bad and the ugly just because it worked somewhere else doesn't mean it will work here. There is the NIGERIAN FACTOR.

Look at the MicroFinace Banks. They were copying Bangladesh model of MicroFinacance. Look at where it has brought us. Nigeria is a UNIQUE country and as such what applies else where DOES NOT have to apply here. That's why GOD gave us BRAINS to think, but unfortunately some prefer to COPY.

Why NOT just call it "Interest Free Banking" for now, must it be called "Islamic Banking"?

Dear Nairaland Programmers,

It is not rocket science to develope a blackberry application for nairaland. Its a global competetive environment we live in now with ICT as a driving force. In order to remain relevant you need to move with trend. Don't be left behind. Its bad for business + we(NL users) deserve/need it. We hope you look into our humble request.

                                                       Thank You.
Two questions for ya;

1) What happens to those that DO NOT use BB phones?
2) Will Google ads run on the BB app just like on the webpage? Nairaland is a business NOT a charity.
I'm sure when you have GOOD answers to these questions "Nairaland It Staff" will be all ears.

Nairaland is accessible via wap and mobiel browser - in full html extensions.

What benefit will a Nairaland BB app grant, would it support google ads as currently on the HTML version? there must exist a business value not just user-experience
Exactly,

PhonesRe: Can Anyone Tell Me The Best Phone For Internet Browsing?. by NumberOne2(m): 11:50pm On Jun 03, 2011
Most phones browse ok. The networks here are too poor. Since I used opera mini, I stopped using my phone browser. My advice, get a phone that supports opera mini (a java phone, iphone,, etc), as long as it an opera version and enjoy browsing. Alternatively, get a phone that supports 3g or 4g (they are expensive). They are the fastest for now.

Being a lady Programmer is like being in the Military. There are a tonne of guys around and few gals. In such situations, if you're good on the job, you'll get your FULL respect plus the WOW factor. By WOW factor I mean when folks say "WOW, she can do that? But she's a lady".
PoliticsRe: Aljazeera Airs A Heartbreaking Program About Lagos(25 May 2011 -Video) by NumberOne2(m): 11:51pm On May 25, 2011
The truth is bitter. Nigerians are suffering. The first step to solving a problem is admitting there is one. If we don't admit our problems, how can we tackle them? So much has been swept under the rug, that why we have Militants, Bombs, Boko Haram and murder of Corp members. It gets worse. If anyone thinks this video is bad, just wait till you see a clip on how corp members were hacked to death.

IOS is really cool. Its a uniform platform and has a large market. However, I took one look at XCODE requirements and walked away. Must have a Mac OS + PC (which don't come cheap) and download the almost 3gig installer. I have a friend working on an ipad app. If it does well, I just may jump in.

@pc guru

haha the bb apps are never going to be an infinitesimal, rim is very trickish, i have about 20 apps in the android market, working for rim for 4 years now

only 3 bb apps, the encryption method in bb phone is hell, wonder why mobile phone programmers cant even read user security data from bb?
rim uses an alien code (bleep the crypto algorithm)
It's hard to understand why you would bash an organization you claim to work with like this. All platforms have their limitations, NONE is perfect. Perhaps you should suggest this to management rather than resorting to this. No offense dude, but biting the finger that feeds you is never a good idea.
