My Toyota Camry 2008 model is misbehaving. Just noticed the engine oil dries upto the bottom dot on the oil gauge under a week after service, what could be wrong please, SMH

The 2azfe Engine is a known oil burner, check if your exhaust is smoking, tell someone to hold the throttle at 3000rpm while the car is parked and check for smoke.

if smoke is visible there is fire on the mountain if not check for external leaks and be weary of the type of palm oil you use for servicing

I brought in a 2006 Honda Pilot AWD (J35a9 engine) from the US

The car was cleared last week but it has refused to start.
It cranks and cranks but just doesn't start.

Noticed yesterday that the plugs get wet with fuel, changed the brain box but still didn't start (the plugs were still wet with fuel even with 2 brain boxes installed)

Tested the spark plugs for spark and it was orange/red spark, instead of blue or white so we changed the plugs but it still didn't start.

Changed the nozzles and then exchanged the main relay with the one beside it. Car then started and died when I depressed the accelerator.

Since then, car hasn't started again, just keeps cranking.

Scanned the car, no error codes

Brought the car in for my mother-in-law - U guys should help with ideas please, before they take my wife back from me

And all other car gurus, help a brother abeg

pick one of the gurus close to you because a physical diagnosis is the best solution to pin point your issues.

I don't know if you have ruled out a security system malfunction

No you should be safe, the suspension type was revamped and besides yours is still relatively new, if you don't drive it uncannily across Naija toureg roads you should be fine.

just pick the IS250, over all the TL is better, faster, more sport oriented and worth it if you look past it's fragile transmission. The type S is got good enough launch power.

The IS250 is chic, chic to some is the new word for cramped, cheap Engine and transmission, not bad on the sports end.

continue with the 20w50 ensure you don't exceed 3k km or 3months whichever comes 1st. Check the guage regularly also check if your Engine is smoking with or without accelerator depressed.

My reply is just a postulate, his Engine may just be showing symptoms of age and factory defect or he may just be the scape goat that always manifest when manufacturer standard isn't followed

the 2az engine is known to short oil. if

1. You have been using the recommended oil weight 5w20 or 5w30 sythetic and judiciously changed oil as at when due then continue but be mindful and watch the oil guage regularly or you can try 10w40 and see a change.

2. if you have been using 20w50 oil weight, those are junk oil that will aggravate the oil burn in the Engine. continue with the junk but reduce your change interval and start saving for a new engine. probably an Asian made 2azfe.

So based on the feed back here, my list is looking like this.

Honda Pilot and Nissan Pathfinder as the two main ones.

I really like the Infiniti FX35 but I am hoping someone with experience can shed more light in them.

The FX35 isn't a bad car, uses a VQ35DE and parts related to other Nissan and Infiniti vehicles.

issues

1. body parts are very expensive and vandals know these so if you don't park much in an enclosed compound, they would burgle your car, especially the headlamps, the 2 coat 120k

2. Minor electrical issues especially if you use a battery rating less than 100amps

3. it drives like a car so expect to feel every uneven surface on the road. if you are also tall, the roofline go be some how.

4. The RWD variant dey choo tire like no man's business, if you come buy chinko knockoff he go dey shed am like crocodile tears.

Apart from that, the vehicle is fast, the exhaust note is catchy, the stance is intimidating and the luxury is superb what's more ladies won't let you rest they will want to rape you in an Infiniti till Infiniti
