I believe the government can do better and make enabling environment for the masses, a landing pier at iyanoworo with a massive car park that can hold 5000 cars built in steps would go a long way in reducing traffic on 3rd mainland bridge in the morning.

People living in ikorodu can take a ferry from ikorodu to iyano woro, those from Berger or ogunstate can enter brt to iyanoworo and take a ferry to the island, the car park would make life easier for those coming from far, they park at the iyanoworo car park and take ferry to island or apapa.

A win win situation for government and citizens. Iyanoworo would be made like a ferry interchange just like oshodi since it is a central water way in Lagos. I hope the powers that be won't turn it into water front estate or luxury water front apartment.

Please I need to take a decision between Acura MDX and Ford Explorer both 2014.
I need friendly advice in house.

Reliability the explorer is rated higher

Performance I don't think the explorer can beat the MDX, MDX is more sport oriented though both share same 290hp but the MDX has more torque and the tech pack MDX with it's SH-AWD will leave the Ford gasping for air.

Engine both cars spot same 3.5L V6, the Acura has a better MPG than Ford because the Acura is more of a CUV while the Explorer has always been an SUV.

The explorer has been reliable from inception and solid all round, though the Ford my touch can be crazy sometimes but above all a very good SUV anyday anytime.

The MDX has always been a luxurious sporty CUV please do research on VCM and torque converter of this vehicle those are the major complaint from users

if the Uber business is something you have a zeal for, the 2nd option is the best if the owner isn't demanding blood and sweat as sacrifice for completion of the HP

the 1st option is good if you are certain a golf in good working condition can fit with that budget.. you will have peace of mind knowing you are the boss.

you can determine good working condition and breaks since final decision of mode of operations is your sole responsibility

you will have time for your family since you are only targeting profit and not weekly return

Hello friends,

I bought a 2002 Rav4 Nigerian used. So far so good. The only issue I see is that a times when i trottle it does not pick immediately. I have to raise my leg a little and trottle again. I asked my mechanic and he was saying brain box ..... bla bla bla. The ATF is still new as it was changed before i bought the car.
Has anyone had this issue, and how was it resolved?.
What step do you suggest I take?

The 2000 to 2005 RAV4 had a factory defect on 00 to 03 model years fitted with automatic transmission. The brain box was the cause of the predicament. It became non responsive leading to transmission failure.

you need to copy the brain box number and do a check to ascertain if your vehicle is suffering from the symptoms

people who bought the vehicle brand-new, people who bought the vehicle used before you bought yours and technician who are knowledgeable knows it too because they have worked on several unit.

Honda the parent company of Acura paid a class action settlement to users, they also extended warranty on the vehicle.

TSB for diagnosis of the issue was made available by Honda/Acura.

I don't know what you mean by misguidance. Besides, the MDX the op is talking about is 2nd generation which is different from what you are using

Evening what can possibly make an eod 03 jerk into motion wen shifted 4rm P to D in d morning also when driving slowly it smetyms disengages from D and runs freely(as in wen accelerated the car jst revs high) one wl have to stop then restart engine,shift to P and then back to D be4 the car can move again.

Please possible cause and solution

EOD has transmission issues from factory. scan the transmission for error codes then we work that out

01 to 06 MDX had transmission failures in different% of vehicles made that year with 2003 reporting as the least affected year of that series.

the next generation 07 to 13 had a total revamped transmission I don't think there was much issues here concerning transmission of the said vehicle.

but Honda transmission and power steering are car system that don't do well with wrong fluid use. If you wanna buy a Nigerian used MDX ensure you get a professional inspection, the Acura is a high end luxury vehicle, ensure you check each system very well

not that his mum gave him money for tokunbo and he bought naija used, I wanted to ask but sometimes it's better for one to not insinuate negatively.

If a Tokunbo car arrives Nigeria and custom duty fully paid, for how long can it be used in Nigeria before it must be registered.

you can drive it on Nigerian soil for 3months without plate number.

you can drive it forever with dealer plate number.

so if you are into car sales, adviceable to get a dealer plate number so you can drive tokunbo car as long as you want until it is sold

well no need to argue much anyway on which unit sold more, while Acura was cashing in on the MDX from 01 to 06 5years the only thing in Ford stable was the Escape more like a scapegoat it wasn't on par with the competition.

But you will agree between the 1st Gen edge and 2nd Gen MDX, Ford EDGE has an edge since it rode on the popularity of the Explorer I hope my use of English is correct.

Ford edge is a piece of crap and is the most common car at our shop with all sorts of problems. 12 in under two weeks and they were all F'ed up. Ford sucks at anything under V8. They simply do not know how to make small cars and engines. Big engines they make some beasts. I'm not sure where to got your numbers but the MDX has a higher resale value. Yes, we carry the parts but my above to him is the Acura. The Toyota is too old.

The Ford edge is the next common CUV after Lexus RX and Highlander.

are we talking about the same 1st generation MDX 01-06, cause that car has a shitty resale value and when I see naija used forsale first thing that comes to mind is gear fault because that MDX from 01 to 07 is known for faulty gear not only MDX a lot of Acura lineup in that year bracket especially those with V6 engines some Honda products too aren't left out.

You should expect to s of edge in your workshop than MDX because the edge sold more than MDX in Nigeria, just like I see Toyota product breakdown on 3rd mainland bridge everyday not because they are bad but the unit sold in Nigeria made it such

You do need Internet to set up route

for Google maps you need internet initially to setup route after that you don't need data only location switched on and you are good to go.

For sygic map you don't need internet to setup route just switch on location and you ar3 good to go.

if the nav is a standalone unit that doesn't control other interior accessories like AC, fuel economy calculator, system warning screen, reverse cam, then you can remove it and add a 3rd party.

or

buy a separate nav system like tramigo and slap it on the dashboard area

or

buy a phone holder and use your phone, you don't need internet for navigation, rather you need GPS/ location on and Google maps would function well.

The change of ownership is the issue. It will bring things out that the vehicle has been registered before. Sorry bro but without the change of ownership can the vehicle still be registered without anyone finding out there and then that it has been registered before. Thanks

It all plays down this way, I saw a car on Nairalander here won't mention the model etc and I loved it. I showed my mum and she wanted it immediately. After a while, I spoke with the seller and I went for inspection. We agreed on a good price and after payment I realised the car was previously registered to one owner like that. I knew the deal was too good to be true getting such a nice sleek ride at that price. Though the car z top notch ntin to fix and can pass for tokunbo though the dealer claimed the previous owner never never used it. He just paid half and left it with the promise to finish the payment and pick it up. Later on the guy had financial issues and decided selling it bla bla bla. (After payment). The issue is my mum Categorically have trust issues when it comes to Nigerian used due to past experience, And no matter how much I explain the car z registered already she might and will still have mixed feelings.

The issue is will the cat not be let out of the bag during registration. How can I go abt this etc.

According to the DMV the plate number on a car belongs to current owner of the car not the Car itself.

So if Mr A imports a used car from USA for his personal use and registers it with plate number AAA01AA, after 2years he sold it to Mr B and Mr B registers it as AAA02BB after collection of the relevant document from Mr A for re-registration of a new plate number to be issued in his name.

Mr B used the car for 3 years and sold it to Mr C who didn't change the plate number but used the car like that.

Mr C got indebted and decided to sell the car to Mr D, Mr D noticed Mr C name and details is different from what is available in the document. So Mr D called the number on the document and Mr B who initially sold the car to Mr C confirmed he sold it to him that all is well.

So Mr D paid for the vehicle and re-registered it in his name with registration number AAA03DD.

A vehicle can have several registration number attached to the chassis but there are necessary documents to backup change of ownership
