Meanwhile this is the most standard road in the Southeast built by my man Okorocha and currently at 90% completion. That's one of the 10 lane highways he has cut across all of Owerri and as seen on this photo it can contain parallel of 5 cars on each side with underground drainage and solid pedestrian walkways. The streetlights are unique, beautiful and extremely bright like never seen in any part of Nigeria. Forget the targeted character assassination of my man and drive down to Owerri to behold what is called road infrastructure. By the time the intracity expressways are marked with road signs and lane reflectors the naysayers will be put to shame permanently.

Nice job on the underground sewage. In 2017 we shouldn't be building with open gutters! Nice streetlights too; It's my first time seeing those type of street lights.

Owerri can't survive without a real industrial base. I have been playing with this concept for a while. If the eastern people know anything about themselves it's the fact that we can take an ordinarily complex idea, simplify and make it accessible to the average person. We did this with movie production, international trading, crafts like in Aba, and we can do the same for manufacturing.


If the state laying out 2000 tiny factories, it would spark a revolution. Each factory doesn't have to be bigger than one or two shipping containers.

And the government can charge the cost of the shipping containers for people to own or rent them. Then next to the industrial zone where they will be clustered will be a large warehouse or two.

The gov can allow international industrial machine producing companies to rent ground space in the ware houses and sell their industrial machines to the manufactures in the containers. I can be screen printing machines, printers, CNC machines, medical pill presses, electric sewing, iron cutting devices, diamond refining devices etc etc.

the manufactures can buy the machines from the warehouses, stock up their container and have a simple, easy and profitable instant factory in a matter of days


If one container producers the legs for a chain, the other the cushion, the other does the paint and finish, then you can have collaborations pumping out industrial volume chains. If one makes ceramic plates, another paints them there's another product set. If one makes plastic bottles, the other fills them with mineral, another puts the label on them, imagine. You'll create a hyper productive industrial heartland in a simple and affordable way. The government can easily built 50,000-100,000 of these containers in the area you designated alone.

As time goes, successful container owners will buy more containers to increase output. Traders in places like Alaba will buy containers and begin manufacturing their goods since it's cheaper than importing.

The problem with industrialization is we think we need to build massive factories and focus on employment. Really we need small factories geared towards ownership. In a matter of months every market in the zoo with be filled to the brim with Imo products. Why import consumer goods when they're coming out of Owerri-Orlu-Okigwe at an insane volume

let's refine this idea.

First off there's the issue of power: Using generators would pollute the atmosphere and there's also the cost of the gas.
I propose the use of generators for a while until the state government finishes the building of a power plant that would serve that area
The government could also sell subsidized fuel for generators at those warehouses you mentioned

There's also the issue of infrastructure and environment
Take for instance the example of Aba. Roads are bad there and the environment is dirty. It's hard to transport products on bad roads. Also a
bad environment drives off potential customers and investors.

The state government should build quality roads( I recommend concrete) that are regularly maintained in that area. And the government shouldn't build open gutters!

There should also be a policy there where trash is not tolerated. Big garbage bins should be provided and these bins must be cleaned out daily. Owerri is the capital of Imo and should have a sense of decency at least to outsiders which include investors.

Also this sector must be regulated and must become formal. We don't want an issue of fake products that blatantly copy the original like in Aba.
We also don't want an issue wherein people produce medicines and sell not being certified with their medicines being fake. And so on...

Now considering the issue of these businesses to be formal:

These business must be registered(to stem illegal production as well as to keep track of the development of the area) but perhaps a little time after the place has developed. I've heard it takes time to register a company in Nigeria.

These businesses must be taxed but there should be at least a a 3-year tax relief scheme to allow the place to grow. Tax is good for generating the income of the state making the state richer.

Any other suggestions?

This is a tragic shame!!! A top producer of petroleum globally!! The largest economy in Africa!

I think Nigeria should follow a similar route to Singapore. Let me propose some ways to stop open defecation in Nigeria(or at least in our urban areas).

1. The state governments must build public restrooms in public areas such as informal markets, parks, and the like. The government will also employ janitors to maintain these restrooms daily.

2. All private businesses must have a restroom with hired janitors.

3. All schools public or private must have sufficient restrooms along with the employment of janitors who maintain these restrooms daily.

4. All contractors that build residences must have a required(by law) amount of restrooms dependent on the amount of rooms

5. Fine citizens who defecate in public( if this fine can't be paid, they should be jailed for a limited period)

These laws should be enforced by the required agencies such as lastma or the police force and the like.

Imo is already taking its shape. Rochas Okorocha's focus is on agriculture, tourism, real estate, education and future industrialization. The plan is open and any true citizen of Imo State that cares can key into these booming sectors.

A brand new Cargo Airport for perishables with cold room warehouses is at least 90% completed and will be the 1st in Eastern Nigeria. It cost Imo about 7billion Naira. There is a 2billion Dollar industrial park at Egbema and ongoing power plant at Egbema for the park. The park is presently stalled by lack of foreign investors though a Chinese consortium has come to inspect the area and discouraged by non-completion of the power plant.

Owerri today has excellent road network and has been so opened up and beautiful that it has stolen the show from Calabar and Port Harcourt for weekend holidays among Nigerians and recently other Africans. There is no week without one local, national, international or regional conference not holding in Owerri.

Okorocha believes in sacrificing today for tomorrow and the impact of this sacrifice may not be felt today but in the nearest future.

Hmm, I hope that industrial park comes back online. It would be the bedrock of industrilizatiom in the state.

Don't worry about revenue generation and taxation now. Let the businesses grow and in future the taxing will come. Before now there was no large market in the State capital but today there are 4 huge organized markets that will aid future taxation.

My brother, over experience I have come to some conclusion that God doesn't want to heal everyone. Even during the New Testament days, Jesus didn't heal everybody nor did he make that attempt. I learned recently learned that Nigeria has some of the components to manufacture smartphones. Nigeria is a huge market! If only our indigenous engineers can create quality smartphones that are affordable so we wouldn't suffer at the hands of inferior phones.
