toolovely: vizkiz:Of course! increasing the tariff has always been a part of the plan. Before the privatisation, the DISCOs complained that at the current tariffs, they would never break even. The supposedly 'low tariffs' is the backyard reason why the DISCOs have refused to invest in upgrading the distribution infrastructure; it's also the reason they've refused to give out prepaid meters cos they claim they will be short-changed at the current rates (they prefer the estimated billing culture where they get paid for supplying no light). Finally, the agreement before the privatisation was for the DISCOs to implement the tariff increment in batches; I understand the first batch of tariff hiking was done in 2016 and the next batch is some time this year. So Nigerians need to brace up! |
And why does everyone automatically assume he killed himself only because of house rent issue? What kind of simple mindedness is this? |
Kyrx: tete7000:Okon isn't the stupid one here, the stupid one is the blogger who interpreted what he said a 'defending police'. |
jmoore:Very stupid bloggers for real. I watched the video myself and struggled to see how he defended police. |
Casptainspecial: Gozzzy:But some people still do import goods from Onne; I don't think there's really any law in place stopping importers from using Onne. |
hollah123:Nigeria's power proble is not technical, it is administrative. |
Is there another part to this story that no one is telling us?... I know Nigeria is a crazy place but I find it hard to believe someone would just be locked up for nothing and even sent to court. On what charges exactly? |
TrashDetective:I dont know what the audio is talking about; awaiting further details and counter responses from those accused before making any comments. But the bolded statement you made above just caught my attention. Exposing even minor losses of a bank can lead to panick withdrawals and an ultimate collapse of even a sound bank. It's not unusual for the CBN to cover up the losses of a bank and even secretely bail it out to prevent total collapse. |
kettykin:Like Kemi Adeosun, like Onnoghen, and now like Emefiele (impending), when the powers that be want you out, they simply begin to dig for dirt on you. But guess what?.. No matter how much they hate or want to eliminate you, the vultures can't come close to you if you dont stink like dead meat. |
Predstan:Jesus!!... Why is Emefiele so concerned about a commercial bank that he broke down saying “I don die, where I go see Money?” ![]() |
Hmmm... listened to the recording but not sure I understand what the duscussion was all about. CBN gov sounds extremely worried over how for what he termed 'shareholder funds' hit a deficit for the first time in history. The guys seem to be playing about with figures to see how they can make up for a deficit. Not clear what the discussion was really all about, so waiting till tomorrow to hear the full gist. |
RZArecta2:Would be interesting to experiment this rubbish. ![]() |
kaen1317:How many politicians and political office holders can move freely anywhere in Nigeria?.... Can the "very well loved" Wike move around his own hometown without his personal security which comprises of policemen, a swarm of cultists and militants? |
Bridget95:Forget that teasing comment written by that clown; there is no evidence anywhere to prove that the APC government is biased in executing capital projects around the different zones of the country. There are ongoing capital projects in every zone of the country Railway projects are capital intensive and regarding the rail modernisation project, all the different administrations since 1999 have done bits. OBJ (SW) started by constructing the Warri to Ajaokuta rail line connecting SS to NC. GEJ (SS) constructed the Abuja to Kaduna rail connecting NC to NW. Now Buhari (NW) is constructing Lagos to Ibadan connecting SW to SW. Today, only the SE and NE are yet to get any standard rails but tomorrow, a new administration would definitely do something. No need for these needless wailings and constant victimisation cries. |
It seems these Jonathanians will keep wailing over this Jonathan election loss matter of over 4 years ago till thy kingdom comes! |
I bounty007:I'm guessing you would have called the Appeal court and the judiciary 'Independent' if the judgment went in favour of PDP no be so? |
Is it just me? Am I the only one here who sees no biggy in what the pastor did? We've seen many other pastors do far worse, kissing women in church for miracles, stepping on the heads of people, forcing people to eat grass and drink fuel etc. This guy simply prayed for a woman to have a husband and then he lay beside her on a chair right in front of the church declaring that her husband would lay beside her in similar manner in a short time. I'm not a fan of these showboy african pastors, but I see absolutely nothing bizarre or news worthy about what just happened in that video. I bet 90% of the people commenting on this thread only read the title and then proceeded to drop comments in line with other comments on the thread. |
Unbelievable... ![]() |
I guess the FG has to pay SUBSIDY on power costs too before the DISCOs would be happy and before Nigerians would relax. |
lilwetdick:SO what exactly is your point?... DO you now agree there is a report that the girls were assaulted (because you've been dancing around in circles all day claiming that I just fabricated the story)?... Or is your point still that the assault is a lie; that the girls are lying and the 'Nigerian police' are the ones telling the truth? By the way, I never argued with you whether the girls were prostitutes or not. I only said it's only a matter of time before the uselessly untrained Nigerian policemen start picking up every girl they see on the streets, in bars and in clubs and physically and sexually assaulting them under the guise of arresting prostitutes. No be Naija police again?! Meanwhile whilst prostitution is illegal in the Nigerian constitution, is the raiding of strip clubs, arresting and assaulting of girls (under whatever guise) also lawful? |
CodeTemplar:Oga, I explained the bottlenecks in the Nigerian power problem, I explained how decentralising/liberalising distribution and also providing prepaid meters can help improve the power situation in the country. I also pointed out that laws need to be changed/updated to achieve this and the NASS needs to sit up to effect the changes in law. Oh yes I support APC any day over PDP, but for the love of God, what exactly has what I explained in this thread got to do with politics of APC or PDP?... Can you not survive without dragging everything into politics?... or are you suffering from some form of politics induced traumatic stress disorder? How exactly did any of my statements connote support for a political party?.. What has this got to do with politics? ![]() |
shadeyinka:You will first of all need to ask yourself if your president understands what's going on. Then even if he does, the way and manner in which presidents are elevated in Nigeria makes it almost impossible for any democratic president to stand against the powers that be (a.k.a. the cabals); and this is largely because these so called cabals are the ones who install presidents and who also hold the key to every sector in the country. Go against them and your government would be crippled instantly. Nigeria is just a hopeless situation, a democracy probably wouldn't just work here. WHat Nigeria needs is an autocratic dictator "who chooses to do the right things". |
CodeTemplar:What exactly has my explanation on the importance of decentralised/liberalised distribution got to do with defending any government biko? How exactly do some heads manage to interpret everything in life along political lines? ![]() |
micflo28:Why don't we all just practice shariah already?... WHy all these waste of time?.. WHy don't we just add shariah laws to our constitution and by so doing, we would be saving marriages and pleasing GOd? If the girls have been trafficked, or if they are being exploited, why doesn't the police arrest the traffickers and exploiters? |
lilwetdick:Oga stop trying to feign blindness or deafness or ignorance over the news making the rounds that the girls were molested by the police, it's becoming ridiculous. The OP on this thread already mentioned violence against women as one of the basis of the protest. Did you not read that? Can you swear on the life of your children (born or unborn) that you haven't heard or read of any of these reports? https://thenationonlineng.net/how-abuja-policemen-raped-assaulted-us-by-convicted-prostitutes/ https://punchng.com/fct-command-probes-sexual-assault-allegations-against-policemen/ https://www.pulse.ng/news/local/abuja-women-narrate-how-they-were-beaten-raped-by-police-officers/wkn4475 https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/how-police-raped-assaulted-us-under-guise-of-being-prostitutes.html Even random girls going on the road to wherever were also picked up and assaulted on the same guise of prostitution. Corpers were not left out. https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2019/5/visiting-youth-corps-member-accused-of-prostitution-and-assaulted-by-police-officers-in-abuja-photos.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KUo_Vk86-E I'm sure @lilwetdick will still come back and ask me source of info again, or maybe this time he will insist the women were lying and police saying the truth. |
asuustrike1:Yes that's true according to the current law, but the tiny prints in that same law makes it impractical. |
lilwetdick:If I am told that the Nigerian police assaulted a suspect, and the police (or an anonymous person I'm communicating with online) claims it's a fabricated story, knowing who the Nigerian police is and their antecedents, I'm sorry brother, I know exactly which part of the story to believe so stop trying. |
asuustrike1:The competing DISCOs can still control the lines under a shared agreement. |
lilwetdick:There were several reports of the ladies being molested and assaulted. |
uuzba:Okay your point is noted, they should be arrested and even sexually assaulted because they are worthless prostitutes working in an illegal strip club; they are clearly the scum of the earth. But hopefully you will also get my point, if not now, but some day. You're so sure today that it's just a strip club that was raided and only prostitutes arrested so therefore it doesnt matter. But are you so sure these raids and molesting will end in only strip clubs and with indecently dressed ladies?... Hopefully we wouldn't have to worry in the near future about the judgement of our law enforcement officers over what is decent and what is indecent dressing. |
