SpaceTour: This is getting serious
Forget it, this 9billion is such a huge sum that is capable of bringing GTB down if not they would not have wasted time to the point that their branches are being shut down anyhow.
Onitsha is the economic/commercial capital of the SE, so shutting down GT Banks in Onitsha will be so damning to the bank's fortunes and image in SE and Nigeria at large. N9billion is chicken change for a large organisation like GTbank, paying that sum can be done without a single blink. But given that these large exploitative organisations dont mind extorting N50 and N100 from even their poorest customers, it's not surprising that they're fighting dirty to avoid paying Innoson whatever they owe him. |

Sunnymatey: Why cant a bank that post a profit of over N200b pay a debt or liability of N2.4b? They rather drag that matter in court till interest rose to over N6b. Senseless bank. Persons in charge of their legal department should be fired if they survive this. Nigerian banks that pilf N50 and N100 from even the poorest customers, you really expect these exploitative organisations to easily pay out N2.4b to a customer without a dirty fight? |

SLAP44: Actually nothing much has been done on that road. Nothing but the one Jonathan paid for in 2014.
I don't know where you got those posters to fake the posts up there but when you hit the ground, you will see the truth. Nobody uses the express again, people now drive through the old road done by anambra and enugu government.
I repeat again, this road is still a death trap for more than 95% of the road. I'm sure in the mind of some people, Jonathan paid for the air we breathe today before he left office 4 years ago; heck! GEJ even paid for the sins of mankind too. |

clintz: I am of the opinion that people should call these hoodlums perpetuating these crimes on our roads their real names “ Armed Robbers” instead of assuming them to be herdsmen. Sorry for your loss dear. Truth is that you cant really call them any other name than herdsmen. The people doing these things are actually herdsmen who are heavily armed and who live in the bushes with their cattle. Whenever they please, they just step out into the highways and rob travellers; they are also known to be very brutal and cold blooded. These guys have existed and have been committing these crimes for ages now (well before 2015) and have always been untouchable. In my opinion, the most potent solution to this herdsmen menace would be state or regional policing. |

"but the amount was too high for that purpose"
alright since u know so much about the issue of grass(seedling) purchased from Brazil.
Thanks for information.
Regards sir. I'm not aware of the price so i cant really speak on that. I only read about a plan to import seedlings of a highly nutritious and weather resistant grass to be planted and grown in Nigeria, I dont have any other details. I've only commented on this issue because I was just irked at the bizarre level of misinformation (both intentionally and unintentional) that has trailed and that still trails the announcement of that plan. A lot of people amusingly assumed the idea was to go to Brazil and import grass to feed cows in Nigeria; weird thing is that even those who should know better are actually the ones promoting the misinformation. |

Lush100: .
sir, it might have been good to import special breed of grasses, but the amount was too high for that purpose. besides we could be proactive like Malaysia did with our oil-palm seedlings. we take the seedling and come to our country, culture the "special grasses" till they attain good height and stature, and then naturalize them to our environment-the faculty of Agriculture or even IITA can handle these especially at a time we were in recession.
Regards sir. Regarding the bolded above, what else did you think the grass (seedlings) to be imported was for?... Did you also think the grass in question was to be imported to just directly feed cows (as politicians were either ignorantly or dubiously making Nigerians to believe)?.... This was the exact reason I asked you in my earlier post if you actually read about the program before joining the crowd to mock what they didn't really know about. |

Lush100: FULL SPEECH : Ogbeh made this known during a budget defence session at the National Assembly on Tuesday.
Lamenting that Nigeria imports almost everything, the minister said, “Let nobody take it lightly, these guys have seized this country’s economy, taken us hostage and they have no intentions of giving up. Because this is a huge and very sweet market and they have taken control.
“Every time you bring in a shipload of rice, you also bring in a shipload of unemployment, because you are transferring your wealth to sustain other economies. Somehow, Nigerians didn’t notice it, so we became a nation of importers.
“Toothpick costs us $18 million; tomato paste costs us $400 million to import. Meanwhile, a basket in town is less than N2000; the farmers are losing money because the processors don’t have enough funds to set up factories.”
He also said, “We import milk, sugar, toothpick, toothpaste, pencil, items we don’t make; Vegetable, lettuce, cabbage come from South America through Dubai and arrives here for sale.
“There are also Nigerians who would rather have the imported item if it is not imported, it is not right, it shows status, class, that they only eat imported things.
Ogbeh added that “There are Nigerians who use their cellphones to import pizza from London. That’s where we are, and it’s a very annoying situation.” . why will we not import. 1. is the Govt. providing adequate power at a reasonable price to power up factories to make these items. 2. has government provided accessible roads and good railway/dry port (at reasonable price to income) to enable seller move their goods without damage to place of buyers. 3.has govt provided the enabling environment in form of tax holidays or harmonized tax regime or even subsides for critical goods especially agriculture. 4. has govt provided easily accessible financing for business at affordable rates to enable business make profit over long term. 5. does govt take the welfare of her work force as an important factor knowing that their income is what encourages consumer spending. 6. has government looked into their bogus allowances and see how these unnecessary luxuries increases affect overhead cost and budget and reduces money meant for infrastructure. 7. has government not looted the treasury including importing grass from Brazil , over inflating military equipment and siphoning money overseas rather than keeping it within our economy. 8. is govt making accountable money given to her including security votes, unaccountable money to senators. 9. does she publish her spending and make available the information to the public for accountability.
when u put all these together, u will see why we are in such a comatose state. You polluted your beautiful writeup by you criticism of grass importation. Why dont you go read about what it was all about instead of just joining the crowd to criticise what you dont know about?.. What is wrong with importing a special breed of grass seedlings for the purpose of planting it in ranches in Nigeria?... You will probably ask if Nigeria doesnt already have grass, but are you aware the rice we plant today all over Nigeria are an imported tough breed which are resistant to a lot of things? |
Politics › Re: Reno Omokri Reacts To Nigerians Importing Pizza From London With Their Phones by obailala(m): 9:51am On Mar 28, 2019 |
vioment: Oga Reno, actually it makes sense to import grass, i just don't know about from brazil sha, but even at that it makes sense; except we get into a program where we can grow more grass in nigeria for cow consumption. Nigeria is too populated to have farmland and animal feed lands. Even the farm lands alone will not be sufficient.
I would prefer that we train to have the best food inspectors in the world because that will favor us more. I am very sure that Brazil is way more advanced than any african country especially nigeria, when it comes to food production and industrialized farming. I am cool with that, what i am not comfortable with, is the credibility of the inspections that will take place when it arrives in nigeria.
The only way out for nigeria is technological farming like most asian countries. It just weakens me when I see educated Nigerians continually mocking the idea of importing a unique kind of grass to boost livestock production. Just the same way Nigeria imported a unique flood resistant rice seedling some years ago which happens to now be the bedrock of the current rice revolution. I imagine this is all just a combo of both ignorance and a desperation to politicise everything. |

There's no judge Buhari will arrest today that I'll say anything in defence of of, even if they were illegally arrested or suspended! Why? Because I KNOW a lot of them compete with our thieving politicians in terms of wealth!
Lalasticlala come and see wonders. The fault doesnt lie solely with the judges. You need to ask yourself what's wtitten in the piece of junk called the Nigerian constitution regarding cases like this. The judges can only read out the stated punishment in the constitution. We should actually be asking why the useless parliament hasnt done anything since 1999 to review the constitutional punishment for such corruption cases. |
