When an employee is incompetent and underperforming, you either give him/her a strongly worded counseling either verbal or written and when that does not work you get rid of them. In his book he said one of the reasons he was so successful was that he had a policy of getting rid of players who did not fit into the team mentality or were too big for him to control. It doesnt matter where you situate your business as long as you pay your government what is due. The question we should ask is how have we made Nigeria attractive for people to come invest in? The likes of Dangote and MTN pay huge sums to the government. How have they been encouraged to continue doing business here? The taxes they pay how has it been used judiciously to promote development?

You dont seem to get the point, we arent talking about ordinary businessmen here, we are talking about govt officials (past and present) who have stolen moneys meant for public roads, hospitals, schools, refineries etc. and used the proceeds to create businesses in foreign lands; that is totally callous.

And then again, while profit is the main driver for genuine businessmen all over the world, and while businessmen reserve the exclusive rights to set up their businesses anywhere they chose, patriotism also entails putting the welfare of your country first before your personal gains. As all fingers are not equal, so also is everyone's level of patriotism not equal. So yeah, American businessmen setting up businesses abroad reserve the rights to do that for their own convinience, but that doesnt make them more patriotic than the other businessman who defied the high taxes and still set up his business in the US even when he had the choice to go elsewhere.

Thats why I say Nigerians dont understand how society works. The investor doesnt care about developing you. all he cares about is his profits. He pays his taxes your government utilizes the taxes to develop your country. The reason those guys invest and set up companies abroad is it is easier and more profitable to invest over there. Even if tgey did come back here the same Nigerians will be the ones to sabotage their efforts and bring their companies to ruin. Look at the telecoms industry. of all the companies that came its only MTN that has not had a change of ownership bit even them were not free from scandals .. news of having to bribe people in power to get the tiniest things done. With such how do you expect investors to come?

Of course it is more profitable for investors/businessmen to site their businesses outside Nigeria. But where does the patriotism come in?... Sacrificing a few extra bucks and helping Nigeria is what patriotism is all about. And remember, the so called businessmen/investors we are referring to here are Nigerian leaders who not only should be patriotic role models, but the money they flaunt for their so called investments is actually money stolen from Nigerians.

FG bows to pressure orders immediate separation of IRK, CRK in new curricular

The Federal Government on Thursday bowed to pressure and directed the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) to separate the Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK) and Islamic Religious Knowledge (IRK) subjects in the basic education curriculum.

The Daily Times recalls that the grouping of IRK and CRK under the Civic Education in the new curriculum by the NERDC had generated controversy recently with religious leaders, especially the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) calling for their separate teaching.

Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, gave the directive at a meeting of ministers of Education with education stakeholders from six geo-political zones and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by Commissioners for Education from various states of the Federation and was part of the ongoing Commissioner opens up on tank farm inferno efforts to strengthen the partnership within the three tiers of government in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals 4 (SDG4). Adamu, who was represented by Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Anwukah, said the directive to separate the subjects became necessary because of the various complaints by Nigerians, especially the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

He explained that the collapse of the two subjects was done by former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration to reduce the number of subjects offered by pupils and students in schools. The minister said: “There is this controversy over the merger of CRK and IRK in the school curriculum. There were complaints by parents that children were overloaded with so many subjects and the recommendation then was to merge one or two subjects. Unfortunately, water and oil were merged together and it is not working.

“So, to save ourselves the agony, the two subjects should be separated. We push that to the NERDC,” Adamu, in his address, reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to revamping the education sector and appealed to state governments as well as relevant stakeholders to support the federal government effort.
